[Solved]Usb Pendrive not detected

Hello, I have a xfce4 desktop and when i insert my flashdrive its not detected in thunar.
I have ticked the options to "mount removable device when inserted" and "mount removable drivers when hot-plugged".
What do I have to do to see my pendrive in Thunar!.
Thanks for reading

Make sure gvfs is installed.
sudo pacman -S gvfs

  • USB devices not detected in VMware [SOLVED; Using Virtualbox instead]

I am running Arch as a host and XP on VMWare workstation 7.  My primary purpose of installing XP on VMWare was to use my edit my Line6  POD (behaves as a usb sound card) and get my USB TV Tuner box to work. The big problem that I am facing is that VMWare is not detecting any USB device (not even my USB Hard Drive).
I have the usb controller installed.
    Any suggestions?

I don't know vmware but with other virtual machines there is often a configuration option whether usb drives should be automatically mounted or not. Sometimes automounting also only works if the vm has the focus, i.e. is the active window.

  • USB Devices Not Detected and High CPU Usage

Hello, I'm using arch on a Dell 1720 laptop.
I have some weird issues involving detection of USB devices.
When the laptop is on battery and I plug in a USB mouse the power flickers on and flickers off again; nothing in the logs/dmesg.
If I then connect the AC adapter the reconnect the mouse, the same happens, except the CPU usage hits 87%+ on one core.
    Running
    sudo rmmod ehci_hcd
solves the problem; the CPU usage drops and the mouse gets detected.
Subsequent attempts to hotplug USB devices does nothing, no high CPU and no Power.
Rebooting the computer is the only way to use USB devices at the moment.
    usb-autosuspend is disabled in laptop-mode.
    uname -a:

The same happens with the stock kernel too
    My kernel line in grub:
    kernel /vmlinuz26-ck root=/dev/sda3 elevator=bfq ro resume=/dev/sda2
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

I highly doubt it's that, it was working fine on ubuntu just days before...
tydell wrote:I had similar problem with USB pendrive, it wasn't detected and it makes high cpu usage. It was problem with ehci_hcd module
This one helps me to solve this problem
My USB devices don't even get detected, so that script won't work.
Last night I hibernated my computer after not using any USB devices, on resume, my CPU usage was 100%, removing the ehci_hcd module fixed it.
    Any more ideas?
I'm tempted to build a vanilla kernel...

  • [SOLVED] k3b does not detect optical drive

    Hello,
I am running Arch Linux x86_64 with recent updates. I have k3b 2.0.3 and when I launch it I get message that it does not detect my optical drive, and I need hal daemon. I checked, udev is running, node in dev /dev/sr0 has root.optical, my user is in optical group. How do I fix this? I want to burn BluRay disk, maybe k3b even does not support it? And is there a better tool for optical discs than k3b? I use KDE 4 so Qt tool would be nice

[EDIT] I think problem is solved. Not sure how, but after reboot it works now
Thank you for you reply, Lone_Wolf

And about dependencies I think I have what I need:
    [root@voidbox adomas]# pacman -Qi k3b

  • [Potentially Solved] Touchpad sometimes not detected possible IRQ.

    Edit:
Potentially solved: since adding the below entries to my bootloader I have not encountered the issue, or it may be just a coincidence.
append to the boot line: i8042.nomux=1 i8042.reset
I've been experiencing an issue for the last few years which has bugged me across two different brands of laptop, but has been very hard to debug due to how random the event seems to occur.
One in every 20 or so boots, the touchpad on my laptop (Lenovo Z500) is not detected; not just by X, but by the system as a whole, it's as if it has been physically disconnected somehow.
It will take a few good reboots for the system to detect it again, and the problem disappears for another few days/weeks
One strange thing I have noticed, is that when looking at the listing of interrupts during a 'failed touchpad boot', IRQ 12, which I believe is normally the touchpad, has vanished.
I'm not very clued up on these matters so I'm not sure how to start debugging this, and working out if the issue is down to my setup of the system or not.
Any ideas on what could be causing this?
    Thanks.

  • Hp Pavilion DV4-1235ee No sound & Usb port not detecting.

In my laptop Hp Pavilion dv4-1235ee there is no sound coming from the internal speakers. If I connect external speaker its works fine. Usb port is not detecting now. any help will be appreciated.

What is the current Operating system on your notebook? I suspect we have issue with internal speaker on hand...but would like to reinstall the Audio Driver and check...
Again for the USB, we can try and install Chipset driver and check...

  • Hp 16 gb pendrive not detected in car stereo system.

    hi sir,
i have purchase hp pendrive 16 gb it is working in computer but not detected by the car stereo system please provide the solution.

There could be a couple of reasons why its not working for your car stereo.
Look up the manual for your stereo. Several have a size limit as to what they will accept.
Example: It will read up to an 8 GB drive.
Also make sure you have the right music file type it will read.
Usually, Stereos will read FAT32 and not NTFS. Make sure you have it formated correctly.
Worst case scenario I have seen is that some model stereos will not read every brand USB drive.
The manufacturer may have a list of approved drives.
    Hope it helps.

  • [Solved] Hard Disk not detected

Currently i am using 4 hard drives and out of which 2 hard drives are detected and 2 are not. The fasinating thing is that in BIOS all the 4 hard drivers are detected and using a live cd i can access all the 4 drives without any prob. All the 4 drivers are working properly in windows7. It's just in arch linux 2 of my drives are not detected.
Recently i have upgraded my system from kernel 3.6.9 to 3.6.10
the drives are SATA drives. they are connected directly to the motheboard using SATA cables. the live cd i used was Ubuntu. I checked in /sys/block/  and with lsblk. In both of them i can see 2 drives sda and sdb.
Even check the dmesg, but there was nothing related to sdc or sdd. even on boot there were no errors.
They are NTFS formatted and always the 2 same disks are detected.
pls guide me as i am really freaked off due to this prob.

How about rebooting, and then posting the output of dmesg.  It will be long, so be sure to use BBCode 'code' tags.  Alternately, install wgetpaste; pipe the output of dmesg through wgetpaste, and post the link wgetpaste provides here.
Edit:  Never mind   I see you updated with solved while I was posting.  But what is the solution?
Thanks ewaller for the reply The prob was that, the capacity of my SMPS ( power unit ) was not sufficient to run 4 HDD + printer + 2 TB external drive. So this was the main reason. When i disconnected the printer and the external drive again all the 4 HDD were detected in my arch machine

  • Phone USB disconnect not detected

On my one PC, PC Suite does not detect when I disconnect my E51 phone from the USB cable in PC Sync mode.
This one happens on this specific PC, so it must be a setup problem there.
I am running PC suite 6.85.14.1 on WinXP SP2 patched up to date. No problem on another box with same motherboard and software using the same phone.
If I connect in data transfer mode, I use the "safely remove hardware" function of WinXP before I disconnect and all is fine. This is not available in PC Suite mode.
If I unplug the cable from the phone in PC suite mode, PC Suite does not detect that the phone is disconnected, no matter how long I wait.
After this, the whole USB system seems to be confused. No other USB devices are detected when plugged into any other USB port. After reboot all is fine again.
I guess this is a Windows problem rather than a PC suite problem.
Any idea what is going wrong and how to correct this?

i had other similar problem with usb devices, maybe when we use more usb devices could be a conflict on system, does exist a tool that clean up all old usb connection?
    bye.

  • Pendrive not detecting

i have purchased and usb flash drive last 15 days ago from Grant road and it was working properly but all of a sudden it is not showing on my laptop & in disk management its showing no Media pls help me out...

    Subani,
You will want to try the pen drive on another computer to test with.
If the drive is still not detected on any other computer, then it is a bad drive and needs to be replaced.
Let me know what you find.
    Thanks.

  • X220: external USB keyboard not detected in BIOS

    Hi!
I use an external USB keyboard attached to the port replicator of my X220. When Windows is booted the keyboard works without any problems. But I cannot use the keyboard pre-boot, e.g. to enter the HDD password after starting up, to configure the BIOS, etc.
I tried all USB ports both of the port replicator and the X220. The keyboard is still not detected by the BIOS (Version 1.20) and there are no BIOS options to enable "USB keyboard support".
Has anyone experienced similar problems? Are there any solutions to get the keyboard detected by the BIOS?
    Thank you for your support!

  • USB Port not detecting device

My usb port on the side of the pc both are not detecting any device. How to fix it?

A good place to start troubleshooting is this HP document, Troubleshooting USB Connections (Windows 7).
If you don't have Windows 7 or if you have further problems, please to provide more information when you post again.  The more information you provide, the more likely it is that you'll find someone here to help you.

  • [FINALLY SOLVED] "Audio device not detected by EAX Console/Speaker Setting Panel" Prob

PROBLEM: A message pops up saying "The audio device supported by this application is not detected" when clicking on any Creative Utilities like EAX Console or the Speakers Control Panel.
SOLUTION: After 6 hours of trying out all solution advices/attempts for the problem above, I figured that there are only 2 ways to get rid of this issue.
[color="#ff0000"]st way: Kill your whole system, by doing format C:

Eventually I'd like to recommend the Creative Team to put this solution in the FAQ, since I counted at least 20 members in this forum, having the same problem without getting to a solution.
