Sound during phone calls very soft, can't increase volume further. Help!

Within the past few days I've noticed that I can barely hear someone when I speak on the phone (without the earphone/mic). Speaker function works, but I don't want to use it all the time. The volume is turned up as far as it can go. Anyone else have this problem. When I do try using the earphones/mic, it works fine.

Have you tried to reboot the iPhone. That is done by holding down the home button and the power off/on button until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slide to power off screen. Also, no insult intended, I have found that if I don't hold the iPhone to my ear just the right way, I have a difficult time hearing it. It might just be readjusted the position of the phone to you ear. However, if a reboot or repositioning don't work, the last user troubleshooting is a restore, first from a backup and if no help, then as a new phone or not from a backup. You will need to ensure you have everything set in supported applications before you do the restore as a new phone so you can sync all of your content back.

Hi. I've got problems navigate apps during phone calls. I can't bring upp the keyboard display such as sms typing, Google search, internet browsers. Also, the home button where I can use mini apps doesn't show up. And other different software navigation. This problem occured some time after the latest update. I've also tried reinstalling thé system but with no luck. Plz help. It is very frustrating!!

Stop Messaging tones during phone calls

How can I stop the messaging tones from going off in my ear during a phone call when a messsage is received by my phone? Can apple just make the phone make a beep & vibrate or something during a phone call? It is very annoying & to me, the biggest problem I have with the iPhone.

No sound during a call on iPhone 4S! Help!!!!

Hi, my iPhone 4s' sound isn't working during a call. I can't hear the person on the other end, nor can I hear them. I can't hear it ringing either, although when I have an incoming call I can hear that ringing then, but nothing else. It started off a couple weeks ago when my microphone was making me sound weird to whoever I was on the phone to. Some would say it sounded like I was under water or in a massive group of people. Long story short, the sound wasn't very good. The same sound came through my speakers so neither one of us could clearly hear each other. Some calls everything would be completely normal and I could hear everything fine but then it would go back to how it was. Obviously now it's completely gone and I'm pretty sure the phone is fairly close to being ready for an upgrade so I'm not really prepared to fork out money on a phone I won't be needing much longer, nonetheless the issue is frustrating and extremely inconvenient considering a phone is made for communication. I've tried a lot of the suggested things to do from other forums and YouTube videos but so far it's been unsuccessful. If there is anyone out there that is a super high tech genius or just someone who knows how to fix my issue id be so grateful!

N8 - touch-screen still active during phone calls,...

I've made a few calls with my N8, and I'm finding that the touch-screen is still active when I hold the phone to my ear. I've accidentally hung up on people, or have inadvertently activated other apps. Is this something I can fix in tools?
The sound during calls is also very low (even at maximum volume), which compounds the above problem even more, as I push the phone closer to my ear.
If nothing else, the N8 should be able to function perfectly as a phone, and this is really frustrating - I never had this problem with other phones.
Also, on the 2nd use of the photo edit program, it took a long time to save the photo, and then the phone froze. Is anyone else having problems with this?

I too fact these problems i.e touch-screen still active during phone calls leading to unintended "hold" on the calls or screens navigating else where. Yes, the side lock bar helps, but then it is not very handy way for a costly model to be designed. Even the older cheaper nokia touch screen model did not have this problem. Let NOKIA people respond to it.
Yes, the sound is too low even at the maximum. Nokia support centre plead helpless.

During a call I temporarily can't hear the caller but they CAN hear me. The sound on my end is completely dead. After 20-30 seconds the sound usually comes back. My AT&T bars are all filled up so it's not because I'm in a bad cell or coverage area. It doesn't seem to matter if I'm calling someone on their home or land line or on their cell, or if I'm calling from inside my home or when I'm out.
I called tech support a couple times and their last suggestion was that the cover I have might be interferring with the sensors in the phone somehow. The speakers are all uncovered though. I have the iSkin for the iPhone, which I really like.
I have updated my iPhone software to 2.1 and I've completely restored my phone back to the original manufacturer's settings but so far it hasn't helped. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and if you think the case may be the cause of the problem.
I have an appointment to bring my iPhone in to an Apple Store but thought I'd post this before going.

I had the same problem and it was the thin film skin I had on the screen. There are sensors in the black area of the screen by the speaker which are affected by the plastic cover. I dropped the phone about a foot and shattered the screen the first week and decided the loss of the sensor was better than paying apple another $300 for a rebuilt phone.

Recently my iPhone suddenly no sound during phone conversation, can't hear any sound from the other side. However if i choose 'handfree' during call engaging then it's ok for external speaker. Also listening music is ok...
Also I obsevered that the light-sensor won't blank the screen. Is it hardware issue so that I have to send to Apple for repair?

I have Iphone 6 and sometimes like once a month, when i make a phone call, the person can not hear me.

WWe have tried the soft reset. As of now it only does it to one other phone number I call. The number is my husbands who is on Same plan. We thought maybe it was just something with the iPhone 6. The phones are only 3 months old.

I have the same problem with my iphone4 32g.
After my phone was updated to ios7, people cannot hear my voice in a telephone conversation (regardless of who makes the call); however, they can hear my voice perfectly in a facetime or skype session.
I managed to record my voice using the iphone so the problem may not have to do with the phone's hardware (mic or debris in the earphone jack). I highly suspect it is due to ios7, but I cannot rollback to ios6 to prove my hypothesis.
I have performed factory reset but the problem still persists. So now I have a an iphone that can't be used to make a phone call, and this is frustrating.

You mean when actively on the line interacting with an automated system on the other end? You don't. Or, rather, it's up to the system on the other end. When you tap a number, the tones are sent over the line immediately. You can't "undo" it.

I don't know how to memorize number entered by keypad during phone call. When call ends, the number is lost, cannot recall it after by taping twice on CALL. Anybody knows how? Is there a simple way to do it? Thanks in advance. Take care.

Got it. During the call, instead of tapping the keypad, tap Add Call - then tap the keypad button at the bottom, enter the number, then tap the 'add contact' icon/button (bottom left of this keypad, but not the other keypad), then you can tap Create New Contact or Add to Existing Contact. After that, you can save the contact then cancel out (so you don't actually call the number). You can do all of that while the call is ongoing.
Alternatively, click the home button, then tap the Notes app icon and enter the number into a note.
The advantage of the first method is that you can later dial the number just by tapping it, whereas if it's in a note, you can't directly dial the number from there.

I've got my iphone 4 and it's about 2 weeks old
I updated it to V 4.1
now i'm having this problem ..
during a phone call .. i can hear the callers clearly but they cannot hear me
my microphone is working cause i checked it with the video recorder & voice command
it's only not working with the "phone program" ..
tried using headphones still no success .
I've read alot of threads .. a month old .. but without any solution
I tried Restoring which fixed the problem at first , then it came back again !
any help ?
