SSL Portal for IMAP, POP3, SMTP?

Hello,
is it possible to offer with an UAG SSL Portal a preauthentication for IMAP, POP3 and SMTP?
If yes, any How to's out there?
Edit: I know that TMG is able to offer that but is there preauthentication used?
Grüße/Regards, Jens Klein

Hi,
No, UAG does not support (as in does not work) any other ports than 80 and 443.

    P.S: CHECKING !!
    STEP 1.
First compile and execute the PROGRAM 1 with your USERNAME & PASSWORD. This will send a mail to your own account.
    STEP 2.
Now compile both PART 1 & PART 2 of PROGRAM 2. Then, execute PART 1 - Main.java. This will retrive the mail sent in step 1. njoy! :)
In future, I hope this is added to the demo programs of the Java Mail API download package.
This is for 3 main reasons...
    1. To prevent a lot of silly questions being posted on this forum [like the ones I did :(].
    2. To give the first time Java Mail user with a real time working example without code modification [code has to use command line args like the demo programs - for instant results].
    3. Also, this is what google has to say..
"The Gmail Team is committed to making sure you always can access your mail. That's why we're offering POP access and auto-forwarding. Both features are free for all Gmail users and we have no plans to charge for them in the future."

I guess bshannon & Java Mail team is hearing this....
Again, Hurray and thanks for helping me make it!! cheers & no more frowned faces!!

  • How to disable Outlook for checking for IMAP/POP3 Certificate Name Mismatch?

I have outlook clients that are connected to an IMAP/POP3 server that's off-site provided by company A.
Company A requires me to enter imap.companya.com for imap server address and 993 for the port.
I must also enable SSL for the connection.
When I do this, Outlook pops up an error message (shown below), that must be reacted to every time it checks for mail.
The reason is that the certificate is for myserver.companya123.com and that's different than imap.companya.com but company A wont change it. They said I need to disable my email programs certificate check so it doesn't keep prompting
me. Now I can do this with my iphone, and other email programs without incident. But I cannot find where to disable it in outlook.
If I change the imap server address in my account settings for outlook to instead use myserver.company a123.com, outlook can't connect and as the vendor said I must use imap.companya.com as the imap server address.
I need to be able to connect via SSL (so nobody can swipe my password over the wire) but not have to react 1000x a day to the certificate warnings.
I don't want to use Eudora, or another email client that allows me to easily disable the warning. I want to use outlook. How do I set outlook so it doesn't keep popping up these certificate server name mismatch warnings?
I spent days searching for a fix, and it seems there are fixes via the registry for just about every type of certificate issue, but NOT THIS PARTICULAR ONE.
I am hoping someone knows exactly what I am talking about and knows of a easy fix. I must use SSL so please don't tell me to disable SSL.
What I need is to disable outlook from presenting that alert. That's what I need to do. No other solution will suffice. I hope outlook does not have a product limitation that prevents such a thing from being done. I am ok with a registry fix if need be, but
being able to disable outlook from presenting certificate name mismatch alerts is critical. Hope its possible! Thanks!

    Hi,
I would suggest we try the registry key mentioned in this
article (Method 4) to configure Outlook to allow the connection to the mismatched domain name, and see if it works:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<var>xx</var>.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover\RedirectServers
Let me know if this doesn't work.

  • Problem with access to SMTP, IMAP, POP3 protocols in CAS 2013.

    Hi,
we have problem with access thgrough SMTP, IMAP, POP3 protocols in CAS 2013.
If I test connection to SMTP 25 port from other computer, session end quickly.
Test from CAS2013 to localhost or public IP is OK (similar also for IMAP and POP3).
Receive connectors are with defaults settings, firewall is disabled.
Service Microsoft Frontend Transport Services restarted, but no success.
Certificate is assigned to IMAP, POP3, SMTP, IIS.
IIS and HTTP(s), protocols are OK. Clients can connects only thgrough web, mobile (ActiveSync), or with Outlook with proxy.
Do you have some tip, what to test?
If I create new testing receive connector on port 26 for anonymous, behaviour is same, quick disconnecting.
    Thank's Mirek

    Hi,
Pleaser try to use the following link to test your STMP/POP/IMAP e-mail, and check the test if successful:
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
If unsuccessful, please check the test result, it will tell us what caused the problem.
    Thanks.

I changed my IP on my 10.5.8 server. I used changeip to do it right and -checkhostname returns the right IP and hostname. I am running DNS, Mail and Web on the server. All services work but mail. Mail starts up and says it is running but POP and IMAP do not. They say running but I can not get my usual response from "telnet 173.166.41.53 imap" or pop3. SMTP does work fine. One thing on startup is that I notice POP and IMAP go to running state pretty fast, almost immediately. In the past, I thought these took longer. Anyway, I have made and checked all my setting for DNS, etc, domain stevensprograms.org . But that aside, I can't telnet or port scan those ports for IMAP/POP3 secure or not.
I have checked the postconf -n, the main.cf, master.cf, imapd.conf, cyrus.conf. Everything looks okay to me.
Currently I am reconstructing, but I can't believe it is only using 0.1% of my cpu, with 94% idle on that machine. It is taking forever.
    Any other help suggestions?
    thanks,
    mike

Something must have been wrong with the mail database. I reconstructed it, and after about 13hours, my mail seemed to come up as expected, as far as order and speed in Server Admin. It still took about 1.5 hours for things to start working again. re-syncing end user IMAP accounts taking a bit, but working now.
I guess in the end the corrupt database prevented the imap and pop3 services from completely working even though Server Admin said all running.
    Thanks,
    mike

  • Use messaging multiplexor to redirect to non-sun imap/pop3 servers?

Can the Messaging Multiplexor be used to redirect an IMAP/POP user to a non-Sun messaging server? For example, could we use the multiplexor to establish a single server name for IMAP/POP3 clients, but have the multiplexor redirect specific users to an MS Exchange back-end over IMAP/POP3? We will have identical usernames and passwords on the Sun Directory Server and in Active Directory.
    Thanks much!
    Craig

It can be done. You will need to "provision" all your users in LDAP, just as you would for Messaging Server. Put the Exchange box in as "mailhost".
Then, you will need to have MMP know what commands Exchange offers, so you can restrict MMP to showing just that subset of the protocol. Check the MMP doc for how to do that.

  • Require SSL for IMAP (and possibly, SMTP)

    Hello,
I'm having quite a bit of trouble changing the server configuration to require SSL for IMAP connections on the server side.  (Ideally, I'd like to require SMTP to send email as well, but not require for outbound connections from other hosts as it may stop message delivery.)
If anyone has had luck doing this on OS X Mountain Lion / Server.app it would be great if you could share your steps?
    Thx.

It would be helpful is you could explain what your experience is, since there are many possibilities and knowing what you're encountering would help.
The most obvious/common issue is that IMAPS (IMAP+SSL) uses port 993, not the normal IMAP 143.
If your clients are configured to only use 143 then they will break until they're reconfigured to use 993.
Since you don't mention whether you've checked port numbering, it's impossible to tell if that's your issue or not.
As for SMTP, if your mail server accepts mail from any external hosts then you do NOT want to require SSL. Few, if any, remote mail servers support SSL for SMTP, so you'll just block any external servers from sending mail to your domain. I doubt your users want that.

  • Enable SAP Inbound email through IMAP, POP3 & MAPI instead of SMTP

    Hi,
I am trying to configure SAP Inbound email in CRM 6.0 and would like to know if I can use IMAP, POP3 or MAPI instead of SMTP due to our company's legal policies and maintenance purposes.
If there is a way, please let me know how to?
I have checked other options but none of them talk about IMAP, POP3 or MAPI

    Hello,
As far as I am aware, SMTP is now the only supported option for configuring inbound emails through the SAPConnect interface into the Interaction Center agent inbox.

  • How to use SquirrelMail and Require SSL for IMAP Service?

    Hello,
Mac OS X Server v.10.4.9 – Open Directory Master
Providing POP, IMAP, SMTP, web services including webmail via SquirrelMail.
    PHP v.4.4.4 Nov. 1, 2006
    OpenSSL v.0.9.7l Sept. 2006
I need to require SSL for IMAP access, however, I also need to provide webmail access. SquirrelMail does support TSL it seems and that can be configured from /etc/squirrelmail/config/conf.pl and is discussed briefly here: http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/SquirrelMailIMAPS .
When I turn on TSL on SquirrelMail and change the IMAP port number to 993 attempting to log into SquirrelMail provides the following error:
Bad request: IMAP server does not appear to support the authentication method selected. Please contact your system administrator.
According to the above noted page from the SquirrelMail site one needs PHP 4.3 and SSLv3 in order for TSL to work, one must also connect to the IMAP server over port 993. Requirements I appear to meet.
So – how can one require the use of SSL for IMAP and still provide webmail access via SquirrelMail?
I have reviewed these three threads:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=912841&tstart=75
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1457773&#1457773
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=3921004&#3921004
However they do not answer the fundamental question of how to use SquirrelMail with SSL required by IMAP. Essentially the conversation revolves around working around the SSL requirement or forgoing it.
    Thank you for any assistance.

    David,
Yet from time to time these same users are in a
circumstance where they need to use webmail, thus
SquirrelMail needs to work. I am not trying to
    secure webmail by requiring SSL.
I see, your problem. In this particular case there is a workaround.
Use different ports for postfix and cyrus limited to localhost, thus catering only to SquirrelMail, thus not needing TLS.
Roughly do this (this is just off the top of my head, may contain errors):
    For SMTP / Postfix:
    Edit /etc/postfix/master.cf
    and add:
    465 inet n - n - - smtpd
    -o smtpdrecipientrestrictions= permit_mynetworks,reject
    -o mynetworks=127.0.0.1/32
    -o smtpdenforcetls=no
    # This will create a port 465 (if you use this alreay pick another one. choose the number wisely, depending ony what is in use on your server)
    # This port is only accessible to IP number in "mynetworks"
    For IMAP / Cyrus
Edit /etc/cyrus.conf and add (below imap):
    imaplocal cmd="imapd -C /etc/imapd-local.conf" listen="127.0.0.1:imap" prefork=0
Next duplicate /etc/imapd.conf and name it imapd-local.conf
    Edit /etc/imapd-local.conf
    Change
    tlsserveroptions: require
    to
    tlsserveroptions: use
    Next edit:
    /etc/services
and create a port called "imaplocal"
(you could probably recycle 585 wich is deprecated, check what is in the services file, make sure no duplicate port numbers).
    should look something like:
    imaplocal 585/udp
    imaplocal 585/tcp
When done with all config files:
    Save & restart mail services
Point SquirrelMail to the new ports wich should only be accessible to localhost (check with an external client if it holds
Sorry for the "draft style" post, but I don't have much time.
Just ask, if anything isn't clear.
    HTH,
    Alex

  • Mac mail - SSL option for the SMTP outgoing mail server - Help!

Mac mail (Version 6.3 (1503)) will not let me "uncheck" the SSL option for the SMTP outgoing mail server - Help!
    Thanks!

Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply.

  • What are settings for iCloud mail smtp and imap OS 10.7.5?

message is could not connect to this icloud IMAP server. verify you entered the correct info in the account preferences.  Says the same thing on SMTP server.

    Hello,
Check if Mail is changing imap.mail.me.com to old mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to old smtp.me.com.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
        •    Server name: imap.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 993
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
        •    Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
        •    SSL Required: Yes
        •    Port: 587
        •    SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
        •    Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
        •    Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
