  • Defining Approval Steps in STMS

    Hi,
I've defined the STMS QA Approval Procedure, and today I'm using the approval step "Approved by system administrator", where such users need special authorization values to approve requests in QA (S_CTS_ADMI with TADM and TQAS). Someone can help me to identify the difference between the approval steps "Approved by user department" and "Approved by system administrator"? Is the difference only related to required authorization values?
    Regards
    Alex

Activating the "approved by department" means that it is "sufficient" to perform the QA approval step with authorization value QTEA.
TADM also still works for system admins (e.g. basis guys in client 000, etc...) so you will need to take away this stronger authorization for the more granular control to be available for the users who are to be limited to it.
Typically, this is the QA department, who typically do procedural type of checks, and typically don´t have anything to do with tp...
What was wrong with the "request owner"? Too complicated? User´s changing the owner?
If I remember correctly, you cannot remove the system admin check - you need to remove the access.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Problem  in Transports configuration   to  Production

    Hello
I have a problem I am configurating  the  transport system between  QA landscape and  Prod landscape but I got  this  message:
    System   QA DOMAIN_DEV   Command  TMS_MGR_CONFIGURE_CLIENT
    Client   000                          Service  Configuration Service
    User     DADMIN                  Start    Online
    Date     21.05.2009              Function TMS_CFG_CREATE_A2D_REQUES
    Time     11:30:59                  Message  SYSTEM_IS_NOT_A_CONTROLLE
    Description:
Include systems in the domain from the controller system only
The configuration between  DEV  and  QA  is correct and is working fine.
theoretically I think that the request(ITDK900002) would have been to transportation  from DEv to QA and this same request (ITDK900002) pass from QA to Prod
So,  I configurated DEV>QA  and the domain controler is DOMAIN_DEV then I am configurating the transports   QA>Prod  with  the domain controller  DOMAIN_QA and  I got the last message, Is this  domain controller  correct??  or  Would have I put the domiain cotroller of DEV?? because  I put  the  Domian controller of  DEV the configuration ends correct.
Can you please help me ??
    Thanks  a lot
    Danny

    hi
The current configuration to your landscape in not proper .The proper one is DEV-QAS-PRD.
There will be only one domine controller for the whole system.
which will be DEV in your case.
GO with this process it will work fine
    CLIENT----
    000 USR -
    SAP*
    STSM -
    define domine controller(DOMINE_DEV)
    OVERVIEW -SYSTEMS -
define the systems in your landscape (create)
STMS -TRANSPORT ROUTES - CONFIGURATION - STANDARD CONFIGURATION - THREE SYSTEMS IN A GROUP.-------define all the systems u have in your landscape .
    press F8 or DISTRIBUTE  &  ACTIVATE .
Go to other system  STMS -SYSTEMS - APPROVE-------coressponding systems(QAS-PRD) )
go to STMS_SYSTEMS-  click on the connect test icon to test your configutation.

  • Setting up Transport Management

I have a 3 tier system.  Development, QA, Production.  I am setting up the TMS.  Currently we have it set-up if you release a transport in DEV, it will transfer to all DEV clients and release automatically.  It will transfer to the QA clients and release automatically.  It will transfer to Production Que and hold.
    DEV-->QA-->PROD
Want to change this process so it will hold (not release) in the QA client.  How do I set that up?
My confusion is, my understanding is, you create a transport request in development client.  When you release the transport it moves thru the transport path to all the clients that are set up in the transport path.  I want the transport to auto release in the dev clients, not to auto release in the QA & PROD clients.  How do I accomplish this.  The SAP documentation read so far does not give me clarity.  Thanks
    Warren

    Hi,
I think what you are looking for is "STMS QA Approval Process"
From the STMS Domain Controller, select the QA System and bring it in change mode.
There in the tab System Attributes, select option "Deliver after confirmation"
    Save and distribute the configuration.
This way when you release the TR from DEV, it will move up to the Quality, where you can import in Quality. But it will be holded down there in Quality until unless you approve, after which only it will be delivered to Production.
So to import TRs into Production, you will have to approve them in the system now.
Check Configuring the QA Approval Procedure - Change and Transport System - SAP Library
Also here is a blog-post for the same as well.

  • How to approve virtual server in STMS

I already created the virtual system for the current development server. Since this system already exist, I tried to go to SAP Systems -> Approve, this option is disable. How should I proceed?

    1. The upgrade i mean is on OS and database. It is upgraded from Windows 2005 to 2008 and MSSQL 2005 to 2008, so need to install in new server.
That's OK, I got it now.
    2. This means that I need to make sure that all the released transport request must be transported to production before I migrate the system copy to the new server?
No, nothing like that. You just start using new server/new DEV by configuring STMS for it and start moving the transports from new DEV --> current QAS --> current PRD.
    3. Is there any problem if the SID is different from the old server? Any impact?
I don't think so. See below.
    4. If no impact, all the STMS configuration follow the current development server, should be no problem, rite?
Right I think. You try one thing - this is for already existing transports --- Since new DEV is ready and if you have changed the SID then you first test a single transport test - to move a single transport from this new DEV (the transport number which contains old SID) to current QAS. Verify the results.
And as far as new generated transports are concerned (after you start development in new DEV) those will be created with new SID naming in any case.
    Thanks

  • STMS - QA Worklist Approval needs to be removed for ChaRM Implementation

    Hi,
I've been asked to implement SAP Change Request Management within Solution Manager, and am looking at the steps I need to perform to achieve this.  One of these steps is that I must turn off QA Worklist Approval within the transport system configuration of the managed system.
What impact will this have on the transports that are currently in the queue?  I have a lot of transports in a 'rejected' status, and some that are awaiting approval.
Will changing the STMS configuration mean that all the QA flags associated with the transports are removed, and the requests then show as ready for import?  Or will STMS ensure that the current status of the requests is retained?
    Any pointers would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hello Daniel,
Please check this document which talks about STEP by STEP CHARM configuration.
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d06db8e2-5036-2c10-1a97-dee1364fcec8?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true
For your QA worklist approval, You might need to clear the existing Approved and rejected list in the system before implementing your solution and the status of the transport should remain same unless you add the transports again in the buffer.
    Thanks,
    Arjun

  • Adding system and client specific TMS approval steps

    Hello,
In defining QA approval steps, how to define a step which is not system and client wide?
When adding a new step, it is automaticaly defined with * in the client and system fields, and when changing the steps, these fields are not editable. However, there are several approval steps for which a specific system and client are entered, but this was done by a consultant, who was here some years ago.
Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    A

    Hi Aleksandra,
Did you ever find a solution to this issue.  I too have multiple QA systems in our landscape (4 system landscape), and yet I can not defined system/client specific approval procedures in STMS.
The system and client options don't even appear when I go into change mode, yet table TMSQASTEPS has the options available.  Direct table update works fine, but it would be nice to know the "SAP standard" way of doing this.
    Cheers

  • Error in STMS - The TMS configuration is inconsistent

    Hi gurus,
Yesterday I installed the SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SP14 with S.O. Win 2003 server and D.B. Oracle 10.2.0.4 version.
When I tried to configure the STMS I´m facing with a problem... the system send me a error "The TMS configuration is inconsistent" and when I open the error details it show me a information "tp configuration note completely distributed"... I search a lot to find a valid solution for this and I don´t have sucess, I don´t achieve a answer / suggest that solve this error...

    Hi,
Please check the Note 1144208 - TMS Tendering: Inconsistent tendering template
Settings under the Transport Management System do follow the steps.
All the below settings has to be done in satellite system not solution manager
    1.     Define Transport Routes for System Landscape
    Go to Transaction STMS
    Choose Overview -> Systems.
      Double-click each system.
The Display TMS Configuration: System <system ID> screen appears.
Select the Transport Tool tab page.
If the entry CTC does not appear in the Parameters column, enter it there, and then in the Value column, enter 1.
    Save your entries.
    Configure Transport Strategy
    Go to Stms Transaction
Go to Menu Overview  Transport Route
    Doule click on Each System
In the Transport strategy group box, select Single transports
(since only Import Single and Import Project All are used).
In the Quality assurance group box, deselect Delivery after confirmation
    1.     Choose Continue.
    Activate TMS Trusted Services
    Go to Stms Transaction
    Choose Overview -> Systems.
    Choose Goto -> Transport domain.
    In Management Tab
    In Security Options group box
    Click on Trusted Services Active
    Go to QA Approval Procedure
You should not assign any QA approval system there
    Save your Entries
    Call Transaction STMS.
Choose Overview  Systems. The system overview appears.
Choose SAP System  Create  Domain link.
The dialog box Request for Linking 2 Domains appears.
Enter the system name, host name and system number of the domain controller you want to link to, and then confirm your entries.
Your SAP System performs the following actions automatically:
o     Generates the required RFC destinations.
o     Sends the address data of the controller to the controller in the other domain.
You can now see that you have requested the domain link to the other domain in the system overview.
Click the Distribute and Activate TMS Configuration ICON on the Application Toolbar
After that Go to SAP System  Check   Connection Test, transport directory and transport tool
Check all once whether it is having inconsistency.
    4.Check Configuration of Transport Domain
Log on to every domain controller that is connected to your transport landscape.
    Call transaction STMS
Apart from the information "You are logged onto the domain controller", you should not be able to see other messages or warnings.
Generate RFC Destinations to Client 000
    Call Transaction SMSY.
    Go To Landscape Components
    Go to your Satellite System
Click on the Domain Controller System
In the Right side Tab strip, Click on the Clients, Select 000 client Click on RFC generate Button
Give the User name for Read Access and Change Manager
Click the OK Button to Continue
    Add Import Authorization to Operator/Administrator
Make sure that the operator and administrator users in client 000 of the target systems have the same name as their user in the Solution Manager   system.
Assign import authorization to the operator and administrator users in client 000 of the target systems (SAP_CHANGEMAN_OPERATOR and SAP_CHANGEMAN_ADMIN roles).

  • QA Approval - importing queue with background jobs

    Hi all,
I have activated the QA approval in my system and it all works fine.  I have scheduled a background job via STMS to import the whole test system buffer each day and this works fine too. Now I want to schedule a background job to import the production buffer automatically too. This would allow us to have all approved transports automatically imported once a day (as QA approval is activated only approved transports would be imported).
Sounds simple, but with QA approval the production buffer displays approved and non-approved requests, so the background job fails as not all transports in the buffer are in the correct status.
Any suggestions on how I can get around this problem?
    Thanks
    Claire.

    Hello Claire,
This issue has been described in SAP Note 313991. please check.

    Hi,
To configure the Transport System SAP recommends to have Global Tranpsport Directory.
    1. First decside which system will be Transport Domain Controler: - Generally Development System.
    2. Share the /usr/sap/trans directory Transport Domain Controler using NFS.
    3. Now Login in 000 client as DDIC user & execute the t-code STMS.
    4. It will ask to configure the Transport Domain Controler click on Ok.
    5. Set the parameter DIR_TRANS on Transport Domain Client (Production/Quality System) to the path of NFS mounted directory.
    6. Login to 000 client as DDIC user on Transport Domain Client (Production/Quality System) & execute STMS.
    7. It will ask to include the system in Transport Domain, click on OK.
    8. Now login again on Transport Domain Controler in 000 client & Approve Request.
    9. In Transport Domain Controler click on Overview--> Transport Routes
    10. Click on Configuration> Standard Configuration-> Select Appropriate to your Landscape.
    11. Now configure your transport router DEV>QAS>PRD

  • STMS question

    guys,
we have been in production since a couple of months. Till now, we were importing the requests into qa and production manually from the import queue. Now, I would like to automate a couple of things.
I have 3 system landscape with following clients: DEV 100 (master configuration), DEV 200 (unit testing), QA 100 (master qa client), QA 200 (testing client) and PROD 100 (production client). I would like that everything that is released from DEV 100 gets imported into the 2 QA clients. I understand that I would need to setup the transport route for this. However, I dont understand how does the background import job differentiates between the workbench requests and customizing requests, because once a workbench request has been released from DEV 100, it does not make sense to import it into DEV 200 and also the second client in QA because it contains client independent changes ????
My second question is regarding the QA approval procedure. I would like that only the approved requests from QA should go into the import buffer of production. Then There should be a periodic job in production that imports these requests. How do i accomplish this ?? Also, what happens to the requests that have been rejected in QA ?? do they still remain in the QA import buffer ??? Obviously thats not we want.
    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I think this would be possible with Client-specific transport targets. The transport targets of consolidation and delivery routes can specify a client. Client specific transport targets are in the form of <SID>.<client> (for example, QAS.100). Transport target groups would combine several client-specific transport targets under a symbolic name. .
Also, what happens to the requests that have been rejected in QA ?? do they still remain in the QA import buffer ???
Yes, they would.. you would reject a request in QA only after importing it in QA. so if you reject it would still be there in QA import buffer and will be inactive at PRD import queue. thats why its recommended not to reject request, but however if any fix is required, to be done in a susequent request and then transport both requests together.
When you choose the transport button in STMS import queue, there would be a option to schedule the job. When the job is scheduled periodically, it would do the import based on the import strategy (single/mass). Follow the below link for details.

  • STMS_QA Approval Groups

    Hi,
We have started to use STMS Quality Assurance Strategy(STMS_QA) for Transports. We are using 3 level of approvals. Can anyone explain on how to define users to which approval group they belong to?
For example, we have approval steps as owner, business analyst and Manager, so how do we group the users as Managers or BA's so they can see only a list of transports which they are authorized to approve.
Is it via Security authorizations or any special mechanism?
    Thanks,
    Nag Koppuravuri.

    Dear
if you have request number then you can get it you have do certain things login to dev system
    /usr/sap/trans/cofiles  request no with  KXXXXX.SID
    /usr/sap/trans/data     request no with  RXXXXX.SID
    copy this file
    QUA
    /usr/sap/trans/cofiles  request no with  KXXXXX.SID
    /usr/sap/trans/data     request no with  RXXXXX.SID
then it will come again into que
    STMS_IMPORT
then it will come into qua then you can reimport into qua 400

2.Is it required to reset the TMSADM user. Please let me know  which user is used to access from QUA & PRD system to the Dev(
    KKK-dev\sapmnt\trans)  mount folder
    Thanks
    Malai

    Hi Malai,
I can't confirm your instruction although I think that they look good. But I want to share something that happened to me in NW640/700, my transport routes was not replicated to my different systems.
Maybe you should check that the transport routes are correct after your copy?
I don't know if you have any routes at all but if you have you can find them in STMS -> Overview -> Transport Routes. If you need to update your routes in other systems than the controller you use Configuration -> Adjust with Controller (from within Transport Routes). In the controller you can define the routes manually.

  • STMS configuration Issue

    Hello Gurus,
    I Need your help Urgently
We have our DEV CRM system : C74
    PRD system : CAP
I configured each system as domain  and to link them used the following
    STMS>System Overview>SAP System>Create System>Domain Link.
    from the PRD system.
I added the domain link from CAP and approved.
    The system seems configured.
Both the systems TRANS directory are different
    CAP:
    ocbomsap07\sapmnt\trans
    C74:
    OCBOMSAP05\sapmnt\trans
The STMS seems to be configured , but when i run STMS Tx on CAP or C74 it shows both systems , but when i click on C74 queue the queue shows "empty"
There is no TR seen in C74 queue .
May i know why ?? or what setting have i done wrong ??
CAP queue shows more than 1000 request which i seem is ok.
I tested one TR and it got released and is reflected in PRD system and is waiting to be imported.
But my major concern why the TR's are not seen in DEV system queue ??
    Regards,
    Victor

    Hi Victor,
I guess you are missing the logic here.
In dev system, you create and release the TR for other systems like QS and PRD.
In the import queue of QAS/PRD the TR will be visible.
I believe there is no issue with you configuration.

    Dipesh
