Strange Skype Federation Issue

I have Lync 2013 with 1 edge server and 1 front end server. Everything is working fine both external and internal. I turned on Skype federation and was able to connect to a user.  From LYNC 2013 client (non-mobile) on Windows 8.1 I can see presence
from the Skype user, IM the user and make an audio call. From the Skype client, I can also see presence for the Lync us4er and IM that user. when I try to make a call the call never connects. Eventually the Lync client times out.   From a IPAD the
Skype can make an audio call to the IPAD which is the same user account as was singed into the Windows client.  Both the IPAD and Windows 8 machines are on the same network which is remote to the Lync servers.  It seems that any client running on
the Windows 8 machines fails for inbound audio only.  I tried to turn off the FW, and and AV and no dice.
Any thoughts?

Not sure about the sentence “Both the IPAD and Windows 8 machines are on the same network which is remote to the Lync servers”.
Did you mean the clients are external users or internal users in another subnet?
The call process is little different between Lync desktop client and mobile client.
If both Skype users and Lync users signed in internally. The Skype may have problem to access A/V edge service. You can use network capture tool to check the traffic.
The following blog is for your reference about the call process between Lync mobile clients:

  • Skype Federation issues

    Hi
I have a Lync Server 2013 deployment with Skype Federation enabled. Lync and Skype users cannot IM each other however Skype users can make a voice call to Lync users successfully.
The Access Edge is secured by a public SSL certificate.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
From your description above, it can be the issue of the ports for the Edge Server.
Please double check the Edge ports with the help of the link below:

  • Skype Federation Issue

    Hello All,
          I followed the
Provisioning Guide for Lync-Skype Connectivity and Microsoft has successfully processed my PIC request however when I try to IM from SKYPE using my Live Credentials its shows the Lync user however I am unable to get presence status or message
them. I have tried to add the user from the lync client and same issue. I have checked our firewall and all necessary ports are open.
Below are screenshots please let me know if you have any suggestions

    Hi,
Did you do the steps correctly in below part “Accessing the Lync Server Public IM Connectivity Provisioning Site” in the link below “Provisioning Guide for Lync-Skype Connectivity: Lync Server 2013 and Lync Online”?
Check if you have done the following steps in Lync server control panel:
    Configure federation and PIC
Configure at least one policy to support federated user access
Configure the Skype PIC provider setting for Lync

  • Lync 2013 skype federation approved

    Hi
I have got skype and lync 2013 IM federation approved on
https://pic.lync.com. My sip domain shows activated on its page. Now what next shall I do ? As I am still using self issued certificate on external lync edge interface, do I need to apply a public certificate so that I can add skype to my local network
lync client? I could not send IM to my skype account otherwise. It is coming with an error id 504 source 239. As I have sip.xxx.com.au, webconf.xxx.com.au, av.xxx.com.au which point to lync edge and meet.xxx.com.au, dialin.xxx.com.au, owa.xxx.com.au, lyncdiscover.xxx.com.au
which point to iis arr reverse proxy. Also have lynvweb.xxx.com.au as external web service. In my case, if I would need to apply public SSL to make my lync work with skype, do I have to apply a multi domain public certificate which up to 10 domain ?Would go
    daddy certificate be used ?
Also, if lync edge external interface certificate get replaced, it needs to replace certificate on iis arr reverse proxy server of its default web site binding with public certificate too?
    WenFei Cao

Correct, you need public CA issued certificates for your edge external interface in order for federation to work.
Best practice would be to  have a public cert loaded on both your Edge and Reverse proxy servers, however in regards to Federation, it's your Edge that will be in use. So you don't need to load a public cert on your Reverse proxy (I assume you've loaded
your root cert on to any mobile devices or devices that connect in) but I personally would for the sake of completeness and to prevent any possible certificate trust issues in the future. (it will save you loads of headaches) I would typically only use an
internal cert for external facing when I am testing/labbing and then replace them with public certs before going into production.
Also if you haven't already, follow these steps to configure the provider in Lync: http://blogs.4ward.it/lync-2013-and-skype-federation-how-to/

  • Lync and Skype federation

    Hi Friends,
Can I achieve lync and skype federation in office 365 environment, if yes what all the procedures to follow?
    Regards
    Amit R Singh

yes, you can. To enable Skype integration with Lync users for Office 365, you can refer to the following steps:
Sign in to Office 365 portal with the global administrator account> click Manage organization-wide settings under service settings>click IM, meetings, and conferencing>turn on the external communication.
    Note:
Skype users must sign in to Skype with a Microsoft account (formerly Windows Live ID) to communicate with Lync contacts.

  • Skype federation: no icon, no new menu line

    Hello,
My Skype federation is enabled and functionnal. I can talk from Skype to Lync, and from Lync to Skype.
Nevertheless, I would like that my user be able to add simply a new Skype contact. I runned the cmdlets:
    Remove-CsPublicProvider -Identity Messenger
    New-CsPublicProvider -Identity Skype -ProxyFqdn federation.messenger.msn.com -IconUrl "https://images.edge.messenger.live.com/Messenger_16x16.png" -VerificationLevel 2 -Enabled 1
I understood it should provide in Lync client a new menu line with the Skype icon. However, I cannot see it in my Lync client. Why is that  ?
    Thank you for your help.

I just thought about it.... Would it be a limitation of the basic Lync 2013 client ?

  • Skype integration Issue

    Hi All,
I have done Lync 2013 integration with Skype I followed below mentioned links.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn440170.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj552445.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-au/library/dn440175.aspx
after integrating with Lync I am not able to see the presence of the Skype contacts and also not able to communicate with them.
I have public record configured for federation.
any one faced similar kind of issues.
    Anish Sebastian

For this issue, Check the following:
Run Lync server remote connectivity tests using
    https://www.testocsconnectivity.com/.
Federation requires DNS SRV records. Host file entry on edge server will not work.
Hence make sure that SRV record for _sipfederationtls._tcp.yourdomain.com exists.
It should be pointing to your access edge FQDN (e.g. sip.yourdomain.com)
    On port 5061
Run Logging tool on the Lync Edge server and check if SUBSCRIBE requests are being sent out and responses received. Logging tool might show some of the error messages as shown above.
Check firewall rules. A fully functional federation requires the below ports to be opened.
5061 (in/out) – for SIP traffic (includes presence updates).
443 (in) – Conference access for federated users.
50K range (out) – for Media.
3478 (out) – to determine the version of federated partners’ edge server and also for edge to edge media traffic
Check if 5061 (basic / minimum port that is required to be opened for federation) is opened at both ends.
From your edge server / external workstation, telnet <federated partner access edge fqdn> 5061.
From an external workstation, telnet <your access edge fqdn> 5061.
Check if the SIP address that you are entering for your federated contact is correct. Though most organisations keep their email address as SIP user ID, I have encountered been in quite a few situations where they are different (Please don’t ask me why
    one would do that).
Check event logs on your Edge server.
If there are certificate errors as shown above, install the root certificate / intermediate certificate of your federated partners certificate provider on your edge server.

  • Skype federation fail

    Hi,
We're now performing an Lync upgrade from 2010 to 2013 and change SIP address from old.com to new.com. We've also configured some federated partners which works perfectly except Skype. We have already registered on https://pic.lync.com and received the email
said the provisioning request completed. We connect reach contacts from both sides.
Is there any troubleshooting method to narrow down the issue? thanks

    Hi,
Agree with Edwin, maybe you need to wait for several days and then check again.

  • Very strange skype malfunction -webcam not detected

Hello, a greeting to all members of community! I never experienced a problematic like this of skype before, so I terminated all attempts trying to make working and I came to this forum for help. I tried in windows xp sp3 and with windows 7 with and without sp1, always the same problem. The version 7.6 of skype does not  work at all. It crashes and updater too. I tried all versions 7, and now I am to 7.5.0.102These versions are executed normally, login, bu not recognize the camera, not one particular camera, but all cameras, which are normally working from my computer.I have 2 cameras: single chip eye110 and a generic one that works with drivers of the windows known as "usb video device". None is detected by skype, but both work in my computer. I made online and offline install of skype, problem persists, diferent versions form 7 to 7.5 the same problem. The installation is strange also, the language list is empy, I have to go to option and select by me the folder where to install, else it cannot go on. All attempts are done after a fresh install of windows. here I am attaching dxdiag log file. The video driver may not be tha latest because I intentionally downgrade the video driver with the same no luck thanks in advance

Your processor has to be fully Pentium 4 compatible (with the SSE2 instruction set) for video to work in any Skype version release after Feb 2012.  Technically an Athlon XP processor is only Pentium 3 compatible as it does not have support for SSE2.  Since older versions of Skype have been retired there is no version of Skype that will support incoming/outgoing video on that computer.  The latest version of Skype (currently 7.6) crashes with computers lacking SSE2.  For the time being until the issue is resolved the highest version you can use on that computer is 7.5. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12252

  • InDesign 5.5: Strange Printing Transparency Issues

Hi guys, long time reader, first time poster. This forum has helped with a lot of problems, so thanks, and hopefully you can help with this one.
I'm working on a multiple-spread page for a client that is giving me some strange issues when it's printed. The document has an image as a background for the entire page, and then a black box over the image with some text on top of it. For some reason, the black box with text is letting the image underneath show through, almost as if the box is 99% transparent or something. I've checked each box individually, and there's nothing in the transparency/attributes boxes. I'm not sure how, exactly, to solve this issue -- is there some sort of universal transparent image setting (for instance, set black to 99% opacity always or something similar)?. It's the only thing I can think of.
InDesign CS5.5, OSX Lion. The files are a combination of TIFF and JPG images, and I get the same issue no matter what image format is underneath.
    Any feedback is welcome here.

No problem, Peter. I've included a few shots from various pages (the problem stems to all black boxes placed over images over the 64 page document) on the links below.
    http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5964/88392023.jpg
    http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/9741/93991019.jpg
    http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/7883/10837728.jpg
The third one is the page that I took the picture of the printout with my phone.
I've tried this on an offset press and a digital press; with 'knockout group' ticked and not. For the life of me, I can't understand why the black is still overprinting on the image when it shouldn't be.

  • Strange audi sync problem & different, stranger video sync issu in sequence

I have two strange occurances with one particular set of media that was downloaded from the same original source mini-dv (recording in dvcam) tape. I have not found the same issue on any other footage.
    1) when the media is imported into FCP, the audio is out of sync. it is slightly out at the beginning and then gets progressively worse.
    2) when this footage is used in a sequence, the video that show in the sequence is not the same as the video that is exported when this sequence is exported as QT movie (or any other export option) Like the audio the video out of sync gets progressively worse.
    - The original media is perfectly in sync looking at the digitized source ie: in Quicktime. There is no audio out of sync problem.
    - the only difference I could see in the file was that this media is 3.5mb data rate whereas all the others are 3.6mb.
    - other tapes from the same camera do not have a problem
    - I do all my downloading from a firewire deck and not from the camera
    - I upgraded from 6.0.1 to 6.0.4 (as did the QT 7.5 upgrade also) to see if that fixed the problem but to no avail.
Very perplexing. I managed to work around this problem in a sequence whos deadline was looming by manually slipping the footage in the sequence the required number of frames. This is where it also gets odd. I was able to do this by
    - double click the clip in the sequence which then loaded that into the viewer.
    - position the playhead at the beginning of the clip
    - from the canvas select the go to position in master clip option which then loaded the masterclip into the viewer. the position in the masterclip was always the correct frame (ie the frame I expected to see as per my edit). The frame showing in the canvas was also the correct frame (but this would not be the case when exported)
    - the next thing i did was to use the slip tool, as soon as i held the slip tool over the sequence clip, the frame in the canvas would be the wrong frame (the frame i would see when I exported).
    - then i would just carefully slip the sequence clip back to the matching correct frame. So watching in the viewer, I would align the frame that showed in the viewer to the frame in the canvas.
When done the frame showing in my sequence would be a completely different frame but when exported, the frame that I expected to see would be the exported frame.
I could find no logic to the amount I needed to slip each time (I am sure there is logic but I couldnt figure out what that was). the clip at the end of the footage needed to be slipped -10:09, and this got progressively smaller to the clip at the beginning of footage needing to be slipped -:16
    Hopefully that wasnt too confusing.

btw, i have tried recapturing the footage and i have offlined it, copied it to another location and onlined it in the new location to no avail. still have the sync and video in sequence issues.

  • Skype Federation shows garbled characters in one direction

I have implemented PIC from my Lync 2013 Server via an Edge Server to Skype.
Unfortunately connectivity works only in one direction:
Sending IMs from Skype to Lync works fine.
No matter what I enter everything sent from Lync to Skype arrives as þÿ (Which is a Unicode Byte Order Mark as in

  • Skype credit issues

    Hi,
I have an issue with my skype credit.
Last week I did the payment to recharge my Skype credit.
My Skype credit history says it was 'DELIVERED' however I didn't see any recharge in my account.
I already checked the following link:
    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA37/why-is-my-account-balance-not-updated
However is not helping me that much. For this I want to get in touch via email with the customer service to look after this issue in order to provide specific personal information.
Looking forward to hear from you.
    Regards,
    Marina

Hi, Marina, and welcome to the Community,
Please contact Skype Customer Service directly to enquire.  Skype uses a webform system; here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail unless you are transferred to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.

  • Strange Wi-Fi issue in Mountain Lion

    Hello Mountain Lion Gurus/Users/All,
Just yesterday I upgraded my 2009-mid-MacBook Pro to Mountain Lion (from Lion)
    I have this strange issue.
    I turn on my Wi-F
Selected my home network from the list of all the networks Mac could find. (Actually this is the network I regularly use on all my devices.)
It gets connected to my home network over Wi-Fi for 6 to 7 seconds. (I am able to browse pages, as a test, in these 6 to 7 seconds).
Suddenly message pops up saying "Connection Timeout. Could not connect to network."   Where as, I am able to browse over the same network from other devices like my iPod Touch, Android :@ Device etc.
    Please help me.

    Chandra,
Some people have found that setting a network location prevents this kind of problem.
In System Preferences, choose Network.  Then Edit Location, the + sign and use any name for the location.  Then select the location in the Network preferences pane.  If you haven't already, joint the wifi network.
You should also check that you haven't inadvertently messed up your settings in the advanced portion of the preferences.  While you're in there, click the button to renew your DHCP lease (in the TCP/IP tab).
