Streaming video disconnects my connection

Hi all
I am having a problem with my linksys befw11s4 router. The problem started when I upgraded the firmware on the router. Whenever I try and stream video from a source such as MLB.com my internet connection dies and I have to unplug/replug in my router and turn off/turn on my modem to reconnect.
If I connect via a manually made broadband connection under network settings it works, but this connection only works if I time it so I hit "connect" instantly when my modem connection light turns on. It's very weird and annoying. Any help?

WRT54G version 3.0 Streaming Video Issue

I have a WRT54G v3.0 wireless router that constantly drops connection when I try to stream video from the internet. If I eliminate the router and connect my laptop or desktop directly to my cable modem streaming video works perfect. Once I put the wireless router back into play and try to stream video I lose connection to the router. Normal internet use (e-mail, sports sites, etc.) work fine but as soon as I go to a site like youtube or espn and try to stream video the wireless connection drops. I have read numerous message boards that talk about firmware upgrades that will fix the problem but all of the message boards talk about WRT54G versions other than mine. Can anyone out there tell me why my WRT54G v3.0 router constantly drops connection when streaming video as well as tell me how to fix it?

Why does my ipad 2 keep dropping the connection to my BT Home Hub, whilst streaming video, since upgrading to IOS 6?

Ever since i have upgraded to IOS6 My connection to my BT Hub 3 wifi router keeps dropping out whenever i am streaming video. I have an Apple TV connected as well which is fine as are other devices, its just the Ipad since the move to IOS6. It is really frustrating and i had hoped the 6.01 release would have resolved it, but it didnt. I have seen other similar comments, i just want to know if this is a common known fault which Apple are going to fix.
The strength of Apple has always been 'it just works' , i can't help but feel that there are cracks appearing in this.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Apple TV disconnects when streaming video from iMac.

I am using my Apple TV to stream video from my iMac to my TV using AirPlay display. Every 5 minutes or so, it disconnects. The video freezes on the TV but will continue playing on the iMac. Then after a few seconds it disconnects completely and the apple TV will return to the menu screen and I then have to reconnect. I also have noticed that it only disconnects when streaming video. I'm able to use the Airplay to display what's on my computer screen and it works fine without disconnecting. I have no issues with the connectivity of my internet, there is always a full signal. I've been searching for answers on this and have found similar issues have happened to other users but none of the suggestions have worked so far.
Very frustrated... please help!

Apple TV Randomly Disconnects From iTunes While Streaming Videos

Hey All,
Anyone having an issue where your Apple TV randomly disconnects from your iTunes on another computer while streaming videos from it? Randomly, on different shows and movies, I have had it do it quite a few times.
In the beginning, after it would disconnect, within a few seconds, it would reconnect to iTunes and then I would have to navigate back to what I was watching and and resume it. Now, it will disconnect, and then I will have to quit iTunes on my iMac and then start it up again.
I am curious if it is an issue with the wireless adapter on the ATV because when it happens, it looks like it losses complete connection with the iTunes and then reconnects to the net only after. Then I would need to restart iTunes on my iMac to continue watching my show.
This was happening before the recent update and continues after the update as well.

You're talking about those WIFI bridges they make for xbox 360s that connect the 360 ethernet to a wifi adapter, bridging it?
That is a possible solution, but I will definitely check with Apple first, hoping it will be a no money solution (I am a grad student, every dollar helps).
My apartment is two rooms, my iMac being in another room, so that wouldn't work. The Wifi extender will probably be my only hope if Apple is not cool with the helping a brother out.

Lose connection watching streaming video

I bought a WRT54G v7.2 router some time ago, it works perfect but i had one little problem which plenty of people have reading this forum.
I'll put this new message here because people have thesame problem using different routers.
My router kept disconnecting streaming video on the web, it caused a hell of a headache because i tried everything suggested on the forum.
But i can tell you it's not a router problem according to me, i tried watching streams with VLC media player which i downloaded for free on the web and now i can watch streams without losing my connection.
VLC streams UDP, RTP, HTTP, HTTPS, MMS and RTSP.
I don't have a sollution for streaming with Realplayer or other programs but for a lot of streams VLC works, i hope this will solve some people's problems.

Slower internet connection when someone streams videos

Like the title states, every time some decides to stream a video, the internet connection for everyone else would be considerably slower or would no longer connect to the router. We currently have 5 laptops on the router and I was wondering if that could be the problem?Also, is there a method to have all of us on without making the internet slower?

technically, the more computers you have behind a router then the lesser the bandwidth for each computer. computers share the bandwidth provided by the modem. the router's duty is to distribute this bandwidth to x number of client computers. video streaming eats up a lot of bandwidth and may therefore affect other computers on the network.

I have a m2007 macbook connected to my wireless network using time capsule. I stream video to the macbook, but often get start stop of the streaming, but no wheel to indicate a buffering issue. Can I resolve this with higher speed internet and cable mod

Can you clarify whether you are asking about video that you are streaming from the Internet to your Mac through the Time Capsule?
Or, are you asking about streaming video that is already stored on the Time Capsule to your Mac?
In either case, what happens....video quality wise..... if you test by temporarily turning off the wirelss on the Mac and then connecting it to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule using a spare Ethernet cable for a few hours?

PPPoE Connection Drops streaming video on my Linksys WRK54G

So I just set up my Linksys WRK54G Version 1.1 to handle my PPPoE connection, meaning I entered the username and password assigned to me via my ISP. It works for a bit and then seems drop the connection all together. When this occurs, I cannot even ping the router (192.168.1.1). I have to unplug the AC Adaptor and then plug it in, inorder for the connection to pick up again. It seems when I try to access streaming video from a certain site (http://www.mtv2.com/#videoPremiere/1552982) and I have PPPoE setup via my router, the connection drops. If I change the setting to "Obtain an IP Automatically" and send my PPPoE credentials through my Windows XP client all is well. No issues what so ever.
I called Linksys and they had me try setting my MTU to 1400 but that did nothing. I have the most recent firmware as well. He then said that I will need to call my ISP and increase the bandwidth on my modem to get it to work (connect directly to my modem).
I have since reset the router, downloaded the newest episode of "Heroes" and fired up You Tube and watched a few streaming videos while grabbing the torrent. Everything looked ok.
I then went back to the MTV2 link I posted above (http://www.mtv2.com/#videoPremiere/1552982) and clicked play. At the same time I set up a continuous ping to the router. Sure enough, the connection dropped completely. Unplug the AC Adaptor to the router for 1 second, plug it back in and all is well. I am truly stumped here.
Is the issue perhaps a port issue with the video I am trying to stream from MTV2? It seems regular stress tests work ok.

UPDATE: I went to bed and woke up and my connection has dropped completely, and I was not even downloading anything?! Can someone please help me with this issue?

well...i guess u have tried almost everything possible on the router...try TCP optimiser .. this should adjust the MTU settings of the NIC card on the computer....
if u are having issues on the wireless computer, change channel - 1 or 11 , change beacon interval - 50 , RTS and fragmentation threshold - 2304 ...

Streaming video and USB woes

Hello, I have 10.5.7 installed on a macbook pro (october 2006 model).
When I am watching streaming video in safari (I'm a baseball fan, and keep up with my team on mlb.tv), I have issues with my USB ports. For some reason, they turn off and on while streaming video. All of my harddrives, mouse, and keyboard disconnect and reconnect a few seconds later. I am using 2 powered USB hubs and the issue happens no matter the configuration. And it only happens when I stream a video (in flash, if that matters).
Please tell me there is a fix, because my computer is basically unusable when this starts to happen.

If you have items connected directly to the computer, do you have issues? Try connecting 2 peripherals at a time to your computer (or 3, if you have that many USB ports on the computer) and see if they work fine. If so, the problem may be with the hubs you're using.

Playbook shuts down after a few mintutes when streaming Video.. how can I fix this?

Hi There, new to this forum as I just purchased the Playbook 32GB. I really like this tablet and bought the micro HDMI cable so I could hook it up to my 1080p TV. Anyway, we're streaming video on the browser and after a few mintutes the Playbook screen starts to flicker and then turns black and disconnects from my wi-fi connection.
This is quite frustrating as we like the idea of streaming movies and dramas off the tablet to our TV and being able to enjoy it witout the tablet shutting down. I understand the shut down mode is to conserve the battery's power, but this even happens when the unit is plugged in. I understand this also happens when you download things for more than 5 mintutes as well as listen to music for longer then 5 mintutes the Playbook auto shutdowns.
Can this be resolved with an ap or software upgrade provided by BlackBerry? Any suggestions on how to fix this is much appreciated!

Cannot watch live streaming video

I am trying to use Quick Time to watch live streaming video. However, when I click on the link, I get the following sequence:
"Negotiating"
"Waiting for media"...with a countdown
"Switching transports"...this goes on for a long time
"Disconnected"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Quick Time and the problem persists. Any suggestions for this techno-laggard? Thanks!

However, the streaming only happens at 6 p.m. on Friday evenings and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings.
Some additional information:
Although I initially get a "Connecting" message (at the appointed hour), it then changes to "Switching Transport" and then to "Disconnected." Alternately, if I try to copy the URL from the website into the Quick Time "Open URL" option on the File menu, I get an error message that says, Error 47, Invalid URL.
Very frustrating...any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Airport Extrreme makes streaming video unreliable. Why?

With my Airport Extreme base station OUT of the system, I have no problem viewing audio-visual reports from the http://news.bbc.co.uk/ website, using its "News Player".
With my Airport Extreme base station IN the system, however, I'm successful only about 5% (if that) of attempts to view reports.
Otherwise, I've been getting along OK with Airport Extrem in the system. My download connection rate usually measures at around 1.2 Mbps (using several web sites for testing).
What's going wrong with Airport Extreme in the system; and how can it be fixed?

Hello Everyone
Finally, I took the Airport Extreme Base Station to the local Apple dealer from whom I bought it.
Their technicians had never seen the problem, and suggested getting Apple to replace the unit, as it was still within the 1-year warranty period.
I called Apple Care to try to arrange replacement of the base station. The Apple Care technician tried hard to fob me off with the story that the available bandwidth of my particular internet connection is probably too low to support streaming video. As that dodn't fit the facts, I insisted on a replacement - especially as there was another niggling problem in that after disconnecting and reconnecting the base station, often I had to reset the base station several times before it would work again with wireless computers in its vicinity. With that extra problem, the Apple Care technician grudgingly instructed me to take the base station to my nearest Apple store for the technicians there to look at.
The genius at the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store tried for half an hour and couldn't fix the problem, and then he arranged for a replacement unit. The replacement unit took about a week to arrive - and I had to go back in to pick it up.
