Swich card with PCI slot?

Does NI make any switch cards that has PCI slot/bus ?

No we do not offer a PCI switch solution, we only have PXI or SCXI switches. Check the following link to see the NI Switch offerings:

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum - won't post with cards in pci slots

    Hi
Just completed a new build - with 3800 + Dual processor -  everything works fine but when I plug a PCI card in any PCI slot the computer then refuses to even post.
I've tried different cards and all of the pci slots but it makes no difference. Could it be a driver problem ? When I remove the card and try again the computer then starts up as normal.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

1: PCI cards are bad, most likely your problem
2: PCI slots on MB are bad, highly doubt this
3: PCI cards drawing to much power, very doubtfull

  • AGP Graphics card covers pci slot 2 & Problems with sound card

I have already posted this on another part of the forum.
Hi i have an M Audio Delta192 Audiophile soundcard which is not working fully
i have been on the phone to the M Audio technical support about this
my problem is apparently i need to put the pci Soundcard card into the first slot after my graphics card which would be slot no 2
my graphics card has a fan on top which covers pci slot no 2 so the next available slot is slot 3 which is where i have my soundcard now
a lot of the functions available are greyed out in the M Audio Delta control panel this is the software used to control the parameters of the soundcard
is this right do i have to install my Soundcard in slot no 2 for it to work correctly
if so is there any way around this
my graphics card is a ATI Radeon 9800 XT
if there is no way around this are there any agp cards that i can get that dont have a great big fan on top that covers pci slot 2 that are good quality & can run 2 monitors
i cant seem to find any

    Hi J D Knight
I'm Pretty sure it is this is what it has under my system profiler
    ATI Radeon 9800 XT:
    Chipset Model: ATY,R360
    Type: Display
    Bus: AGP
    Slot: SLOT-1
    VRAM (Total): 256 MB
    Vendor: ATI (0x1002)
    Device ID: 0x4e48
    Revision ID: 0x0000
    ROM Revision: 113-A14404-123
this was the graphics card installed when i bought the powermac
i understand the reasons for the fan as i am led to believe it is a powerfull card
but my main use is for audio is it true about the pci slots do i need to have my soundcard in slot 2 as M-Audio have told me if so then i do need to change my graphics card so i can get my soundcard working as it should
the only thing i need is my dual screens

  • A68HM-E33 wont boot if any card in PCI slot

Put together a system with an A68HM-E33 board. A4-5300, 4Gb Kingston HyperX, 120Gb Intel SSD, Win7 x64.  Got it all running fine. Went to install a PCI (not PCIe) wifi card. System will not post, gives 8 beeps, no BIOS splash screen.
Remove PCI wifi card, system boots normally. Tried a PCI ethernet card, same thing, won't boot.
Why would a card in the PCI slot stop the system from booting?

have you done >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed?

  • Problems with PCI slots

No PCI slots will work???? I have tryed with different PCI cards.
Last week I got a new case and moved all components. After that the PCI slots won't work??? The computer is running great exept that I can't use any PCI card

sounds like you have a brass riser in a spot that does not have a hole for a screw.  this is grounding your board and preventing the pci slots from functioning.  take out the board and see if there are any stray brass risers.

  • How to reconfigure Cards installed in PCI slots

    Hi All
My customer has OEL linux. installed on his HP DL380 G7 server. It has 4 Emulex LPe11002 dual port cards installed. The cards in PCI slot 3 and 5 are needed for network connection.
So he needs to configure the cards in PCI slot 3 and 5 to be used for the network using port 0 on the cards.
Any guidance help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    those are HBA FC cards
What protocol your costumer want to have on those cards?
IPoFC ?if yes, I haven't done my self, how ever, I did read about time ago, and looks like due the costs of the hardware/switch, all the progress went to 10GE/24GE and infini band.
not sure if IPoFC is something in the normal skill set of a linux sysadmin.
What's the speed of those FC cards and switches?

  • What cards can I put into G4/350 Sawtooth PCI slots?

    Hi,
I have a generic PC TV tuner card and some video and modem cards for PCI slots.
Can any of these cards be used in my Mac running either Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X 10.4?
Are there drivers for these PC cards in Mac OS X at all?
Just trying to fill these lots since I have these cards laying around...

Yeah, I know ... the key is getting the Mac OS X drivers...
I'd love to get that TV tuner PCI card to work in my G4. heheh, but I just know most/many PC PCI cards dont have Mac drivers... d'oh... I'll Google search for the specific Tuner card name, etc..
It seems a waste to leave those PCI slots empty. heh.

  • Why no PCI Slots 1 & 5 ? ?

A common thread throughout this board is to tell users not to use PCI slots 1 or 5.
I find this perplexing - whats the point of MSI building mobos with 5 slots and then you telling us not to use 2 of them?
Can anybody from MSI give me a good and coherent reason as to why this practise exists and why isn't something done about it to make all 5 slots usable? I just hate paying out for something that is only partly functional!

I don't work for MSI, and no one here does, but I'll offer you what is obvious.
The practice exist because IRQ sharing is as inevitable as death taxes and most people just don't believe it.  AGP and PCI-1 share an IRQ on virtually all boards..  Slots 2 and 5 usually share an IRQ as well.  Most people therefore hold that slots 2, 3, and 4 are the only ones to use.
The great flaw in that line of reasoning is that on-board periphs also share IRQs with PCI slots.  On my Ultra ARU, the NEC USB 2.0 controller shares with slot 3, and on-board RAID shares with slot 4.  So like it or not, and no matter what anyone else says, IRQ sharing is taking place no matter what slot combinations are used.
Another GREAT myth is that all 5 (or 6) slots can't be used together.  That's bull.  Just install windoze with only AGP occupying a slot.  Then fill the other slots and load their drivers ONE AT A TIME.  I have never had a problem filling every slot on the board doing it that way.  My only recommendation is to noy put anything in PCI-1 that makes heavy use of the PCI bus.
Every board I've had for years has used at least 5 slots and I've never had a problem with any of them.  Two of the cards I use are very specialized and place far greater demands on PCI bus time than anything a typical PC owner even knows exists.  Still, no problem.  Just think about bus cycle time (how busy the card is) and you'll see that one of the big parts of making it work is to never have two "busy" cards sharing an IRQ.
A busy card and a lazy card make the best couples.

  • Best PCI slot for soundc

Hi, I have Sound Blaster Audigy 4.
I have 5 PCI slots and all of them are free. Does it matter, what slot I put the Audigy 4 in?
Are there any performance differences between the PCI slots?

If you do not have SATA HD's in use and/or RAID set up then you can disable those controllers and put your sound card into PCI slot 3.
The other 2 options to put your card into are
    - slot 2 which is shared with your onboard NIC (disable NIC on Device Manager when you play 'heavy' games. You can also change the PCI latench for nic to 0 and increase PCI latency for sound card to 64 or 28 (link to DL PCI Latency tool can be found if you search this forum)
    - slot 4 which is shared with some 'unknown' controller/device/other action ?
For the IRQ 5 question; you find explanation for this if you searcg for terms StandardPC and ACPI.

  • Orange pci slot (communication slot) questions?

i have a msi k8n neo platinum rev.1 motherboard that has a orange pci slot (states in manual that this slot was designed for msi pci wifi cards). i just purchased the msi dual net pci card (red pcb board not the green pcb board one - if there is a difference?) and used that orange slot (pci slot 5) and all is well (device recognized by windows, driver/software installed fine, etc....). problem is, when i shutdown pc, my cdburner activity light and hard drive activity light stays on with pc shutdown. when pc is running and such, the lights turn on as usuall. this only happens when the pc is off. is this normal?
i put the card in pci slot 4 and this issue didnt happen. so card isnt bad or anything. confused on why putting this card in pci slot that was intended for causes some sort of activity light short.

Could be some wake up LAN thing on the orage slot. Computer in ready mode or something???
I use a wifi card in the orage slot in mine , but it's not the dual one

  • Apple raid card with Sonnet Tempo SSD problem?

I am currently using Mac Pro 5.1 (2010)
    My configuration is
    1) Apple Raid Card in PCIe slot 4
2TB bootable HDD  and 3x 1TB HDDs configured to RAID 0
    2) Apple Radeon 5770 card in PCIe slot 1
    3) Sonnet Tempo SSD with Apple OEM 512GB SSD in PCIe slot 2
    4) Caldigit Fasta-6GU3pro USB3 + eSATA card in PCIe slot 3
When I boot from 2TB bootable HDD in main slot #1, everything works well.
But, when I install Mavericks to 512GB SSD in PCIe slot, installation finishes without problem, but the system NEVER boot up with that drive.
(The drive appears in boot disc selection in system preference, but nothing changed even select it and reboot.)
(I did a lot of PRAM reset too...)
The SSD works well when I put it to 2nd ODD slot with spare SATA2 connectors in there. (boot properly, etc).
But when I put it back to TEMPO card, It never appears during boot process (even I press option key).
    Maybe problem is due to
    1) Issue with APPLE raid card
    2) problem due to two additional SATA controllers in PCIe rains.
    3) Issue with card configuration (I have to test change the position of cards except APPLE RAID which requires slot 4)
    Does anybody experienced similar problems?

    This:
    > But, when I install Mavericks to 512GB SSD in PCIe slot, installation finishes without problem, but the system NEVER boot up with that drive.
It is not uncommon to have trouble installing, cloning, or booting from a PCIe card - though the Sonnet Tempo Pro SSD is one of the reliable ones, still, you should install the OS first on SATA II normally, then move the SSD to its new home.
The fact the SSD works on the ODD port - have you asked or looked for firmware update or anything from Sonnet and what they have to say?
With three PCIe cards to contend with, they may interact - not unheard of - and the USB3 may need drivers first to work?

  • Problem with PCI Card Slot

Is there a way to try to test this thing's PCI Slot?
I have a Dazzle SmartMedia Card Adapter and it has stopped working. Nothing happens when inserted. I bought a 2nd card and trying to install it, the same thing. Nothing. So now, I'm trying to decide if its the card slot, the upgrade to 10.4.10 or Sophos Anti-Virus software.

Hi, Marty. Your card slot's connection to the logic board may have loosened; that happens sometimes with Titanium Powerbooks, especially those that are handled and transported often. Flexing of the PB's case and frame is the cause. If that's your problem, it's very easy to remedy.
Release your keyboard catches and gently tip the keyboard back over onto the wrist rests and trackpad, being careful not to jerk its ribbon cable. You needn't disconnect the cable. Beneath the normal positions of the X and D keys is a translucent plastic rectangular tab about 1" x 3/8". That tab is the card slot's connector to the logic board. Press down very firmly on it with two
fingertips. If you feel or hear it shift even the smallest amount, it was probably a little loose, and is now properly seated again. Put the keyboard back in position and test the card slot. Let us know how you fare.

  • How do I configure 128 channels of DIO and 128 channels of Analog output with the availability of 3 pci slots

I have only 3 slots of PCI or 4 slots of ISA bus, I want to configure with the minimum possible modules to attain 128 channels of DIO and 128 channels of analog output. This is inturn fed to the PCM (Pulse code Modulator). The cards will be placed in industrial PC.

    Associate Engineer-Marketing,
Using just those 3 PCI slots you're not going to be able to get the 128 analog output channels. You will probably want to go either the MXI-3 (PCI bus extender) to a PXI chassis or E Series DAQ card to a SCXI chassis for such a high channel count system. Which analog output cards and which digital I/O cards you will want depends on your application. You will have to decide whether you will need static or dynamic analog output as well as whether you need clocked digital I/O or not. I highly recommend contacting our internal sales department at 1-800-433-3488. They are great at helping specify systems.

  • Won't really see a video card in the PCI slots

I have a G4 MDD 1.23 GHz. I have a 32 MB video card in the AGP slot, but I also have 2 PCI 128 MB video cards lying around.
Every time I try to throw a PCI video card in, though, I have problems. The image is only 640 x 480 grayscale, nothing else. I tried to change the settings, but those are the only options.
I have a 3DFX Voodoo 2 and a TwinTurbo 128. Do I need drivers? Does the MDD not support video cards in the PCI slots? What's wrong with this picture?
