Syclo - MRS integeration in Service Manager 4.2 and SMP 3.0 SP06

Hi All,
We are woking on SMP 3.0 SP06 with Service Manager 4.2 application.
We are testing the MRS Push finctionality on this product.
scenario is :
1. Service Order from 9 am to 10 am is assigned to technician in MRS
2. Technicain receives the Service Order in Mobile Device
Now there are two cases if we want to edit the assignment time
1. Technician changes the Edit Assignment from Syclo and change the time to 9.30 am to 10 30 am . When transmitted the time gets updated in MRS - This is working for us
2. Assignment is changed from MRS and when Mobile client is transmitted the updated time should reflect in Syclo . - This is not working
We have followed the SM 4.2 Configuration guide and also 2014454 MRS Integration note is applied in the system.
If anyone has encountered a similar situaiton and knows how to solve this , Please share .
Thanks and Regards

Neha,
Can you refer this OSS note: 2014454 for MRS setup.

  • Services managed by material and service master.

    Hi,
why managing services by <b>material master</b> and
    why by <b>service master</b>?
    Best regards

    Hi
    use of service master
The service master record counts as part of the master data within External Services Management and serves as a source of data for you to draw upon when creating service specifications. This enables you to save time and reduces the frequency of errors, since you need only enter the complete service descriptions in the service master record once.

  • Installed System Center Service Manager 2012 R2 and it crashes if I want to do any useful work with it.

    Hi,
I installed SM Authoring Tool 2012 R2 on my laptop allong with Visual Studio Shell 2008 SP1.
After the installation, I tried using the Authoring Tool and when I try editing a class created by SM Authoring Tool 2012 RTS (e.g. the first version) it crashes -- or an entirely *new* class, the tool crashes and reboots itself.
Any idea how to even diagnose the problem, or what the cause is?

the first thing would be to turn on the output window in the authoring tool, and see if there is anything interesting or useful in there before your crash. with the tool open, go to View, Output window. this shows a running log of actions the authoring
tool takes inside visual studio shell and the responses.

  • Service Manager 2012 R2 and NDF file sizes

Just mapped out a SM 2012 R2 architecture for a client using the sizing tool. Confirmed with MSFT that the sizes were correct. After the install there were a ton of NDF files in the DW that caused the storage sizes to be double. Was something done
wrong or is this to be expected?

  • Work Manager 6.1 and SMP 3.0 with Agentry new features

    Hi,
I know that Work Manager 6.1 is expected to be released by the end of June but I can't find any information about the product.
Since I'm starting a new project initially thought for Work Manager 6.0 but running in SMP 3.0, I would like to know the list of new features of 6.1 version.
At the same time I would like to know if the use of SMP 3.0 brings to the Agentry applications improvements regarding error handling, logging and administration in general since that was a bit poor in the previous versions.
The only thing I found regarding 6.1 version is this PDF where new functionalities regarding localization of assets in a map are added. I hope there is more than that.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Issue working with WPF client v6.1.0.3 for SAP Service Manager 4.0

    Hi All,
This issue is similar to an on - going discussion -  http://scn.sap.com/thread/3508608
    Issue Description :
    1. We installed WPF client 6.1.03 for SAP Service Manager 4.0 using SMP 2.3 SP00. We got the below error
    2.  To solve this error we followed the forum - http://scn.sap.com/thread/3465106 and installed the certificate following the link for installing the self signed certificate from Sybase infocenter.
    3. We came to know that this is due to the SMP version. hence as suggested by SAP we upgraded the server to SMP 2.3 SP03
    4. We tried to connect the WPF client and again got the error "Communication error 14"
    My Question is
    1. After the server upgrade from SP2.3 SP03 , do I still need to generate a certificate again ? Is yes Please guide me the steps/document to do this step
    2. Is there any document which mentions how exactly we use the WPF client, the configuration  to connect the SAP backend and download the Syclo Service Manager 4.0 application without any issue
    Please guide
    Thanks
    Neha

    HI Steve,
I tested with the WPF client 6.1.3.X.
I was getting a different error with the host name "Connect to server  myhostname certificate is for myhostname:domain name this is not valid. Commnication error(14)
However I got the solution in one of the link where they mention to provide the complete fully qualified domain name in the server ie myhostname:domain .
This has solved the issue and the WPF client is up and running.
    Thanks for the help

  • No roll storage space of length 2352 available for OCCURS area : Error in SAP Service Manager 4.0

    Hi All,
I am facing one issue while downloading Service Orders in SAP Service Manager 4.0 with SMP 2.3 SP03
I am working in the development environment where I have 15 - 20 Service Orders. When I am transmitting the client it downloads the rest of the configurations properly like complex tables, data tables, rules, screens etc but as soon as it hits /SMCRM/BTX_DOSERVICEORD_GET it does not downloads anything. I get a session time out error and then the ATE gets crashed.
I checked in the logs where I found -
throwExceptionToClient::com.syclo.sap.component.serviceorder.steplet.ServiceOrderFetchSteplet::throwExceptionToClient::285::ServiceOrderFetchSteplet - No roll storage space of length 2352 available for OCCURS area.
2014/05/13 14:04:12.082:  ServiceOrderFetchSteplet: doSteplet returned false; no data to process
As I said its in the development environment it has hardly 15 - 20 Service Orders but when checked with the basis team it is consuming all the 65GB RAM and hence could not proceed further.
Please let me know what could be the possible error and how can I fix this.
    Please advise.
    Thanks and Regards

    Neha,
Only 15-20 service orders, but how much data on those orders?  SM 4.0 brings down potentially a lot of data per service order, including:
    Addresses,
    Business Partners,
    Categorizations,
Confirmations (and all the data under those),
History Records (There can be a lot of those),
    Items,
Reference Objects (This could be a huge installed base).
You may need to debug the java and adjust what data is pulled down and/or examine the Service Orders to see where the bottle-neck is.  You should also increase the timeouts in your Agentry.ini file.  Those settings are in seconds.

  • Moving Service Manager Database From SQL 2008 R2 SP2 to SQL 2012 SP1

    Hi Guys,
Just looking for some clarification about moving our Service Manager 2012 R2 database to a new SQL Server.
Our Service Manager database is currently on a remote SQL server, shared with other databases, running SQL 2008 R2 SP2. It was originally setup this way as we only deployed Change Management but we are now wanting to deploy everything, fully
utilising SCSM/Orchestrator and Cireson's suite. Due to the limited resources available on that SQL server we are seeing performance issues before even getting it all up and running.
I want to move the Service Manager database to a new dedicated SQL server running SQL 2012 SP1. I am aware of the official DB move procedure but it does not specifically mention moving up SQL versions. I have seen some comments around here that
it is fine to do but some feedback would be good, it is not something I have done before.
All servers in this are fully patched Windows 2008 R2. Also, we do not currently have a Data Warehouse so do not need to worry about that. It was dropped and uninstalled before upgrading to Service Manager 2012 R2 and will be reinstalled after this DB move
using a separate dedicated SQL server.
    Thanks, Chris.

As long as your collations and permissions are the same as before it
should not be a problem. That sad i could not find any other documentation saying it's not supported.
I have moved SCSM databases between different SQL-versions before and it has worked fine if the collations etc are correct.

  • How to check System Center Service manager 2012 R2 license version

    Hi,
I have installed Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 Service manager 3months before but do not have remember whether I put permanent license key or evaluation, can anyone please let me know how can I check whether this is evaluation or permanent license?
Warm Regards, Pramod Kumar Singh Manager-IT

    Hi,
During setup of the retail edition of System Center 2012 – Service Manager, you have the option of performing the installation without a product key and instead installing Service Manager as an evaluation edition. The evaluation
edition times out 180 days after installation. If you start with an evaluation version of Service Manager and you rerun Setup and install the retail edition or select edition, and you decide to use the existing databases that you created originally,
your installation will time out after the original expiration date.
I summarize the following steps and hopefully it will help you.
You could find the install date on :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\System Center\2010\Service Manager\Setup"
Try to change the system time from install date to install date + 180days.
If you can't open the console again, you are evaluation Edition.
Rerun Setup to install Retail Edition or Select Edition.

  • Services not found -Service Manager

    hi everyone
Recently i needed to configure the Early Watch Alert service for a costumer running SBO 2007 PL 15 (we are planning to migrate them to the highest patch available) and i couldnt do so due to the fact that no services was listed in the service manager, it seemed like there wasnt any service installed even though the license manager service is running.
I assumed it was a problem due to windows security so i logged on as Administrator and the problem persisted, the whole service manager window appears grayed and no services is shown in the combobox.
    Please help.
      tried so far:
-Log in as administrator to run the service manager
-Use RunAs  and using an administrators group account to execute  service manager.
    Info:
Windows 2003 server enterprise Edition R2
    SBO 2007A PL 15
I appreciate your help, and thanx in advance.
    Aley

    Hi Aley,
You might have to re-install ServerTools, after DEP was switched off.
When doing so, use the Domain Admin + Password. This is just to be on the safe side.
(I am afraid I have seen installations, where even a local Admin was unable to install anything, due to some strange Group Policies.)
If this still should not work go to Start -> Run and type in "services.msc". The Windows Service Window should open. Navigate to the SAP Business One EarlyWatch Alert service, right click on it and chooses properties, then the tab LogOn. Change the Logon to "This Account" and enter credentials of the Domain Administrator. Afterwards restart the Service and validate if the EWA is still greyed out in SAP Business One ServerTools

  • System & Installation Numbers are missing from Service Manager

    Hi All,
We have just upgraded a system from 2007A to 8.8 and when you start the Service Manager the System and Installation Numbers are missing. Any idea as to why?
    Best regards

    Hi,
Please note that this is on account of Number Range Buffering in SAP. You can check for itsu2019 settings in T.Code: SNRO for Object: RP_REINR.
This is an SAP standard functionality and, there is no need to touch these settings. You can refer the below link:

  • HELP, need to know where Service Manager 2012 is working

Hello, I am System Administrator in a Bank with around 1100 employees and I have been setting up Service Manager 2012 since midyear 2013. Now we are finishing the job. In May
my CEO had adviser from Gartner group to tell him how he should arrange the Computer department and one of the things that the advisor from Gartner said was that we should not use Service Manager 2012 because it is not a good system and those that are using
it are in constant trouble with it and are going to take it down. Now my CEO has told me to stop working on this because he is going to decide what he is going to do. I am stunned about this "advise" from Gartner group. I really like
Service Manager and I have set up Orchestrator, Configuration Manager and Operation Manager and these system are all working well together. Now when I am ready to ship this into Production my CEO says stop, so I am really frustrated about this sales pitch
    from the "advisor".
So my question is, can anybody give me some good arguments like where is Service Manage working well and where can I show my CEO that those advises that he had from Gartner group are totally
    wrong.
I would like to thank in advance.
    Best Regards Olafur_s
    Icelandic DBA admin

I'm an staff consultant for a independent consultant company that is a Microsoft partner, and is also a partner with VMware, Citrix, etc... I'm a core infrastructure consultant, specializing in IT Management and processes. I install and configure
System center Service Manager as a major portion of my job. I consider myself a unbiased expert opinion, but that's almost a contradiction in terms.
I personally think Service Manager is one of the best service desk products available, for companies that are in certain positions.  I'm not aware of any companies that are removing it, but I am aware of a very small number of companies with
incomplete deployments they are abandoning because of standing issues, and just as many starting new deployments in the wake of the
    SDE end of life.
    first, the advantages:
Service Manager is a good mix of design flexibility and minimal configuration overhead. Compared to other helpdesk systems, the process load to create new offerings is very low, and a typical corporate system can be maintained with no more then 1 full or
part time administrator, pretty much regardless of size.
it's remarkably extensible. The authoring tool and readable XML format allows (with a little bit of familiarity) an administrator to create their own data types, forms, processes, workflows, and other management constructs
    with very little "hard" coding.
the representational object data model is a remarkable innovation that allows a very simple model translation, I.E. an object in the real world becomes a SCSM data object with very little normalization work. you don't need to think about tables, or
how identifiers are issued, or column space, or even web design. Want to manage heisenberg frabulators? awesome, create a class that represents everything about frabulators as properties or relationships, create a form that shows you a page with data
for frabulators, create a view that shows you all of the frabulators in the way you want to see them, and create a SCSM Frabulator object for each frabulator you have. If you create the frabulator class by inheriting from Configuration item, then
all of the relationships that already exist for other CIs (like Incident Affects relationship, etc) will just magically work. NONE of that requires any coding, and all of it can be done with out-of-the-box GUI tools.
SCSM has a good partner ecosystem (reference
    Provance, Syliance.com,
Expit, SCSM Solutions, etc.) including administrative tools, reports, and whole solutions.
    now the disadvantages:
Service Manager assumes that you already have an ITIL service book, and a specific type of ITIL service book with well defined, modular offerings based on very focused needs. As a starting assumption, this is a high bar. Most companies have not spent
the time or mental capital on HOW their it processes work required to take the fullest advantage of this. I personally think MORE companies should spend this capital, because they would EASILY earn it back in terms of better management oversight, process efficiency
gains, and better service delivery but no body issued me a magic wand, so...
box, Service Manager doesn't do anything. It's a representative object system that models your IT environment, until you tell it how your IT environment works, it can't model your IT environment. again, this requires a lot cognition about how your IT environment
works, and Companies that are just scraping by and don't understand how they deliver services or already have inventories are not going to be able to provide the information needed to make Service Manager really useful.
Service manager has some serious solution gaps, specifically reporting, the portal, and third party OS support. Both the portal and the default set of reports are on the list of things for the product team to improve upon, and third party products (like
Gridpro's Analyst console) are already improving non-windows support. Remember, Service manager is a VERY new product (remember,
the first RTM was april 2010) and shows INCREDIBLE progress in that time, but it still has a ways to go to compete with products that have been available
    for more then 22 years.
Microsoft has a poor reputation for feature and bug fixes, and has also shown variable levels of interest in Service Manager as a platform. The high point was probably the push for the 2012 release, where Service Requests, release management, the Offering
model and the major console improvements were all pushed in remarkably quickly. The low point was probably near the end of Travis's tenure, where it took almost two years to fix some basic workflow issues surrounding service requests after the 2012 RTM.
The recent trend on this has been positive, and
the tools are now in place to make it better, but the community as a whole is skittish right now.
As to why Gartner is recommending what they are recommending, they have a good point. Viewed pessimistically, System center is currently a beautiful, but incomplete and buggy, product that Microsoft has not been supporting adequately, based on
    deprecated technology.
But this view is incomplete: It doesn't take into account the fact that other products have higher administrative costs and minimal or non-existent automation support. It doesn't take into account the recent trend towards faster
releases, and better communication, but this things are only apparent on a longer time frame.

  • Screen Size Issue for Syclo Smart Service Manager

    Hi,
I am working on Syclo Smart Service Manager and have made some screens in android platform.
The issue is earlier I was using a Panasonic tablet which was auto fitting the screens according to the screen size of the device.
But now we have ported the application to a new Motorola tablet.
If we keep the screen height same then the lower fields are getting cropped .
If we increase the screen height then then a vertical scroll bar appears in the screen and we have to perform scrolling on the screeen to view all fields.
Is there any way that this issue can be fixed and screen adjusts itself on the device as a best fit view.
    Thanks
    Star Grover
    Tags edited by: Michael Appleby

    Hi Bill,
Yes we tried to run the motorola device in android large platform first but it was not able to detect it.
Then we changed the platfom to android normal for motorola device and we got the screens.
The screen size difference between the two devices is not much so it is ambiguous why they are working for two different platforms.
They should both ideally work on same platform as they have almost the same dimensions.
But still is there any way that we dont have to readjust the fields and they fit automatically in the new devie.
It will be too much time consuming and hazardous task to readjust each and every screen.
    Kindly let me know.
    Thanks,
    Star
