Is anyone else successfully using SynergyKM? I think it's causing my machine to reboot randomly.
I did an Upgrade to this 2.16 Ghz iMac and that crashed during the Apple logo on bootup. Then I did an Archive & Install. That appeared to work successfully, so I started SynergyKM in my Preferences and it was working fine. But then I rebooted and my machine would boot into the desktop, and then a spinning cog wheel would show up (not the beach ball) and then it would force the machine to reboot.
I then booted into single user mode, mounted the drive, and deleted the StartupItem and the actual Application. This still didn't fix it, which would naturally make you think that wasn't the problem - but that is the only change I made during the Archive & Install.
Since that didn't work I'm doing an Archive & Install for the third time. It just booted into the desktop and appears to be working. I won't be installing SynergyKM until someone else provides some further guidance.

synergyKM hasn't caused any problems for me (also did an upgrade) but it doesn't work (I posted in another thread). Haven't found a fix yet.

How do you use Synergy 7.1 with LabVIEW?

My company has reciently installed and configured IBM Rational Synergy 7.1 to be used as our Source Code Control tool. I have installed the appropriate Microsoft Source Code Control Interface so that Synergy will show up in LabVIEW and it does show up in the "Source Control" options window.
However when I select Synergy as my source control tool it does the following:
1. Brings up the login window - I am able to login with no problem
2. Brings up a dialog allowing me to select the project to work on, and after I select the project I get two errors...
one from Synergy: "The workspace/project you want to add to IBM Rational Synergy is not under the work area path 'C:\xxx"
(where xxx is my work area for the Synergy project I selected)
then one from LabVIEW: "Error -2941 occured at prefPage_Source Control.vi An error occured trying to get the source control project path. Possible reasons: LabVIEW: The source control provider does not support the specified operation."
I first tried this on an earlier version of Synergy that matched what is being used in:

But I was getting pretty much the same errors back then too. It seems like it should work in LabVIEW, I just have no idea what I am doing wrong!
Anyone out there successfully using LabVIEW with Synergy????

In theory if a source control provider supports the Microsoft SCC interface, it *should* work with LabVIEW. In practice, each provider has custom implementation that sometimes causes problems when trying to configure the provider from LabVIEW. One sticking point for many providers is the expectation or assumption that an IDE will use some concept of a "project" and therefore pass data associated with that project to the provider. LabVIEW does not enforce that concept but does pass valid information.
Synergy was tested back when it was a Telelogic product. It was difficult to configure and required exact steps to get it to work correctly. The linked knowledge base were steps taken that worked for a few customer setups. It's possible that on other Synergy setups the exact steps may not work. Also, you might check to make sure you try to configure existing Synergy projects and not try to create new ones from LabVIEW.
The error you mentioned seems to imply that some data is not supported by Synergy. I am not sure if Synergy would be able to track down the issue, but I would recommend contacting them to see if they can pinpoint what data LabVIEW is sending is not valid.

IPhoto 6 - Photoshop Elements 4.0 Synergy

I bought PE 4.0 at the Apple store based on the Machead's assurance of compatability (synergy) with iPhoto. I'm either doing something wrong, or the techie-type was off the mark.
In iPhoto, I've renamed (via batch control) a series of photos from the camera's default naming format to something more readily recognizable (PICT 24245 to "NC Waterfall 01," PICT 24246 to "NC Roadkill 03," etc.). The renaming took place as it should in both the Library and the Album created. However, when I attempt to Open a file in PE 4, all that's displayed is a) the Library, and b) the old filenames (PICT 24245, etc.). There is no display of any of the albums created, nor is there the proper naming displayed ("NC Waterfall 01," etc.)
This leads to a second problem: Without some sort of hierarchal "tree," saving the file (after working on it in PE 4) to the proper Album is not possible. It's my understanding that an Album is simply a folder, so shouldn't it stand to reason that it should be located at some place like "iPhoto/Library/Waterfalls?"
As it is, I can Save it to the Library, but then I must drag the new image into the proper Album.
The last part of the mystery refers to the first problem: Opening an image file in PE 4. If I have iPhoto open alongside PE 4 and then attempt to "grab" the image and bring it manually into the new window created for editing, it promptly springs back to its place in iPhoto. Not exactly drag & drop, heh?
Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. When you rename a photo within iPhoto all you're doing is changing the title as displayed by iPhoto. The actual file is not touched. if you open a file with PE it should be from within iPhoto via iPhoto's General preference pane where you can select PE to open a photo when you double click on the thumbnail. Then it will open the original file with original file name. If you do an edit in PE that requires a change of extension, like creating a layered image file, it MUST be saved to the desktop and then imported as a new file. If the PE edit does not require an extension change then a normal save will result in the edit being recognized by iPhoto in the main library and in any albums, books, etc that the file is in.
You should be aware of the warnings in Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder. Editing a file with PE from the Finder is violating that warning.

Synergy 3105 Base reset to default - tech. Expert ...

Hi, I've had my Synergy 3105 for years and for me (with decent 1100mAh re-chargeable) it has been a great system i want to keep.
However Handset 2(HS2) developed a display problem then a catastrophic fault. I managed to get 3 more Synergy 3105 handsets then hit a problem registering them to the base station.
Because HS2 is faulty and effectively a 'lost' handset, the base station still thinks it is there, I cannot remove it because the original handset is faulty. Therefore, I can only register 4 handsets.
Does anybody know how I can reset the base station back to default, so it will forget everything it knows about the previous handset registrations?
I think I read that these units are supplied with a pre-registered Handset 1. As default. I am also curious to know if Handset 1 gets lost or is inoperable?
I suspect there may be a power up reset sequence using the base station 'page' button - but I haven't found it yet.
First correct answer gets the prize, because I think others having problems registering replacement phones and getting the 'searching' message may not realise what is going on (previous handsets still allocated).

That was a useful post for resetting a base station to default settings, however it does create a problem.
It leaves the Handsets orphaned and they themselves need a reset.
I have 3 Synergy 3105 base stations for different lines in my house, all worked well and I was able to register 4 handsets with each of the three base stations as Base1 Base2 & Base 3 ( Each hanset support up to 4 base stations).
I had six handsets, two for each base station and all worked well for a while.
I had the same problem of the screens giving up and somehow I lost or forgot the passwords.
So I did the reset you prescribe for BASE1 which was fine for a NEW handset but now EXISTING Handsets see the reset base unit as a brand new one and are orphaned from the BASE1 station they WERE connected to .
I have no way of deleting the Handset from the BASE1 as it requires a Pin I do not have and a base station to connect to that no longer exists.
So if I do the reset you suggest I will have to buy new handsets as these orphaned handsets can only connect to one more Base station.
What I need is some sort of Key sequence that resets a handset to Factory but does not require a Pin

Synergy on Solaris 10 X86

I've installed Synergyc (client side app) on my Solaris 10 X86 box. My server is an XP machine. Synergy works great but I'm unable to get in configured for autostart on my Solaris box. I've ran through all the documentation I can find on how to do it and it just won't autostart for me. I know I'm doing something wrong and it's probably a pretty simple thing but I can't figure it out. I've updated the xdm and gdm configuration files as suggested on several websites but still am having no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
Bottom line is I need to know how to get this program to autostart.

Synergy on Mac OS X Lion

Yet another question about Lion. This is about Synergy, a neat little program that lets you use one mouse and keyboard on two computers (mac, linux, pc, etc..) for multiple computers, through the network. I want to use a mouse and keyboard connected to my PC for my macbook pro while it's sitting next to my desktop PC. I have two screens on my PC, and I do lots of stuff on my mac that I cant on my PC (and vice versa). So here's what I've got, I installed synergy 1.3.7, the latest stable version on both computers, threw in the names of them and all that and then I realized I have to fiddle with some terminal stuff so I installed this thing called Synergy KM which is a system preferences panel for synergy. So what do I do? I have no idea what's going on. I'm 99% sure that things are SET UP correctly, just not working correctly. If anyone has a step by step help for me I would appreciate it a ton.

Fixed it myself anyone who's wondering I just used Quick Synergy on my mac to connect really easy (and quick) over to my windows server computer and I'm using my normal keyboard to type this in here right now. Absolutely the most awesome utility on the face of the earth.

Can I link a Synergy handset to a Graphite base?

I had a duo set of BT Synergy 4500 phones and one handset stopped working. It seemed cheaper to get a whole new set of pohone so I got a trio set of BT Graphite phones. They work fine. But now still I have a working Synergy headset plus (main) base. I am sure someone said that I could still use this as a spare handset, with the base just plugged into the mains as a charger, but how do I link it to the new Graphite base (the Synergy handset will not fit into the Graphite base but should it be able to detect the digital signal?). If I can't do this, can I plug in the Synergy base to a spare phone socket elsewhere in the house and use both systems or will it cause interference? Or do I just have to chuck it out? Seems a waste. Hope someone can help. No-one I contacted in BT seems to have the faintest idea how to answer a question about the actual phones they sell, though they did give me a number (0800 980 8999) that then gave another number (0606 802 0198) that would cost 60p a minute!!

Go to InDesign>Preferences>File Handling and tick the checkbox that reads: Create Links When Placing Text and Spreadsheet Files. If you do that while a file is open, it will only create links in that file. If you do it while no document is open, it will become the default for new documents. Existing documents won't change unless you change the preference and then reimport the text files.
When the Word file is updated, the links manager will show the text document as Modified. Update the file the way you would update a modified graphic link.

Help needed with Synergy 4500 please

I have inherited a set of BT Synergy 4500 phones and have been trying to get them set up but am having problems - can somebody please give me some help?
First, there are three handsets but one is showing as number 4, (I suspect there might have originally been 4 but one has disappeared). I've been trying to renumber this but no luck.
When I lift the phone to make a call I get a noise that sounds like an engaged tone - not like an ordinary dial tone, and I can't seem to dial out - nothing happens.
One of the handsets indicates there are three unanswered calls - how can I clear this?

Graphite 1500 and Synergy 2150 compatibility

Hi Folks,
Help required. Story and query:
I had a BT Synergy 2150 with 4 additional 2100 handsets. Eventually I had to replace a couple of the 2100s with 2150s and, later still, swapped the whole thing for a Graphite 1500 Quad set up. Following a question from me, the helpful salesperson at BT assured me I could use one of the working 2150s as the fifth handset - and I did! That handset has now failed, so I should like to use another of the working 2150 handsets as the fifth handset - but I have completely forgotten how I can register this 2150 handset to the Graphite base! Can anyone help?
The Synergy set up was all in the instructions but I can find no instructions for registering with the Graphite. There must be a way as I did it once, successfully.
Any advice appreciated.

BT Synergy 5500 Cordless phone SIM card backup

When I bought the above phone earlier this year, I eventually got around to finding an old mobile phone SIM card and inserted it into the base unit of my Synergy 5500 and copied the phonebook contacts to it.
All has been fine but on several occasions I have altered entries in the phone's phonebook and copied them over again to the SIM card. Now I realise that there are only so many times I can do this as it says it's full now.
My question is how can I delete the SIM's contents so that I can start over again?

Having said that, you can go online to virtually any mobile provider and have payg sim cards sent free by post. I keep a couple myself for exactly the same reason.

BT Synergy 3505 cordless phone - handset isn't wor...

I have just started re-using an old BT Synergy 3505 cordless phone after nearly five years ( Yes, times are hard...) but the phone seems to receive calls okay, at least it rings, but will not allow me to dial out to make a call. Is this simply a case of replacing the batteries ( a special type) or is the phone simply knackered?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The phone line itself is newly installed so the problem lies with the phone I think!

Configuring NI Labview to work with Telelogics CM Synergy 6.3

Having successfully set up NI TestStand to work with Telelogics CM Synergy 6.3 by downloading the Integration patch from their website and carrying out the associated work, I want to achieve the same with LabVIEW 6.1. When I select the "Configure SCC Options" the Provider field offers only the "Built-in" option. I need to see something akin to "CM Synergy" in this field. Can anyone asssit?

The patch can be found at: synergy drop down, select Product Downloads, Current Integration section, click on SYNERGY/CM 6.4, Windows section, PC Integrations. I downloaded this and installed the only SCCI integration. That install created the registry key.

Now the issue is descerning functionality. Initially, upon setup, I am prompted to select a project which does not seem appropriate. Also note that in the Tools->Source Control->Configure Source Control dialog a specific Source Control Project can be listed. These seems odd as I would expect the configuration of Source Control and usage such as creating or selecting a particular project would be seperate.
I perceive my next step to be create a source tree from an existing project in labview. This is not possible because a Source Control configuration forces one to select a project. Therefor new Source Control project must be created outside of labview. ie directly in Synergy. I will give that a go and report back.

Synergy bug: incorrectly interprets same phone number with different area codes as one number

I sync with Google. I have a contact that has two numbers for which the exchange and the number are the same, but the area codes are different, e.g., (517) 123-4567 and (773) 123-4567. On the Pre, the page for that contact will only show one of those numbers.
If I touch Edit, both numbers are in there. Of course, that doesn't help, because you can't dial from the Edit page.
Sprint tech support was unable to resolve it, and I tried to contact Palm Support via chat, but the LogMeIn Rescue module required for the chat wouldn't download for me either in IE or Firefox. Any idea how to get this resolved?

I had unbelieveable problems with the synergy feature trying to synch my contacts from Google. Palm (or I guess HP now) won't admit it publically, but the synergy feature acts in ways they have no clue of how to resolve.
I suggested to them that they should have an Synergy On/Synergy Off choice for the users. They said they had no plans to do that.
I switched to a DROID2 Smartphone from Motorola, and now everything is working perfectly!!
Love the new phone.

BT synergy 4500 handset problem

hi, i have a bt4500 synergy trio handset. Everything has been fine but now one of the phones is playing up. It constantly plays the engaged tone even whilst the other phones are not in use. I cannot de register it adn it does not seem to be recognising the base unit. Taking the batteries out makes no difference. It rings when I call our number but I am unable to answer the call on this hanset.
does anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Exchange server - Synergy contact grouping overzealous - "[No email address found]" contact grouping problem

I'm pretty sure I just discovered an issue that needs addressing.
To start, I have 1000+ contacts on my employer's MS Exchange server (with an Outlook client). I'm fairly proud of them, because of all the work I've put into them in terms of removing dupes, eliminating empties, etc. etc. etc. It's high maintanence.
Ever since I got my Pre, it's been grouping a whole slew of contacts (573 to be exact) under some random master contact. For a while, everything was under the IRS, and whenever someone dialed my phone, "IRS" popped up. Yikes! For a while, I was deleteing the master contact & remaking it, but the 573 would just group under some other seemingly random contact. These contacts are completely unrelated (at least to a human, they are). Currently, the master contact card is a guy named "Richard".
Well, I'm pretty sure I found out that what these contacts have in common: they have no email address. Outlook (once again) screws everything up by politely populating the empty email address field with "[No email address found]" (quotes not included). The Pre identifies these contacts as having the same email address, and therefore, eligible to be grouped by Synergy.
2 questions:
Microsoft, why do you do stupid crap like this?! You absolutely ruin things with verbosity. A missing piece of data tells the user as much as a present piece of data. You don't have to actually *say* "This piece of data is not present". It's obvious.

I can't be the only one with this problem. Reply to this thread if this rings any bells for anyone else.

I ended up using the column view trick. Column view -> sort by email address -> click & delete every "[No email address found]" entry. In my experience, I've found that just putting in the digital elbow grease takes less time than using things like scripting.
I'm just sad that these things don't get designed well to begin with. I've got other very basic gripes about the Pre. I'm told it works much better with a Google account. I'd love to jump on that bandwagon, but work is using Exchange. You simply must must must work with Exchange sever since so many big corporations have drunk Bill Gates' Koolaid. But to provide buggy Exchange compatibility is risky, even moreso when your company's future depends on the success of your current device.
Palm is clearly getting into bed with Google at the expense of Microsoft. I suppose that's the way I'd go too, but for the time, Palm's buggy Exchange support sets up RIM to keep running the table with Blackberrys. If they had just done Exchange right, they would have double the sales they have now, and Apple and RIM would really have something to worry about.

How Long Does Your Synergy Profile Remain Active?

I had a Pre2 on VZW, and the set up was nice and smooth, no worries. Synergy set up was a breeze. Due to a variety of issues, I returned the device, but I plan on picking up a Pre3 (if it makes it to VZW) this summer, as well as a TouchPad.
Since it will have been several months since I utilized an HP/Palm device linking anything to the Synergy servers, will I still have a profile to log in to? Or will it be a "new" set up at that point?
I suppose it doesn't really matter, but I was curious...so I asked...
