System with exclusive MSI items problems

Hi,
I've bought a system built with only MSI items from Comrace Computers Romania (so it's very easy for you to reproduce the problems).
System is:
1. Mb - MSI 865 PE Neo2 FIS2R
2. VGA - MSI FX - 5600 - VTDR 128
3. TV Tuner - MSI TV @nywhere Master (with FM Radio)
HDD is a Seagate 80MB 7200. RAID, SATA etc. are disabled.
CPU is 3.06 with FSB 800
1 GB DDRAM 400 dual channel mounted.
Drivers, bios and applications are uptodate as of yesterday, 4th of august 2003 h 17 pm GMT+2, from msi site with liveupdate 3 (including multimedia center patch).
Operating system is WinXP SP1 with all updates from winupdate also as of yesterday.
I have troubles with both remote controls (from vga and tv tuner).
There are 2 applications (both related to remote controls) that freezes the system: WinCinema Manager Application and WinIRXhelper.exe.
Also I suspect a conflict between the 2 tvtuners (MS-8606 and vga wdm).
TV @nywhere is set PAL-B Germany (settings for Romania - frequency table - are not functional).
I've spent about 50 hours installing, reinstalling (also the operating system beginning with fdisk), checking every piece of software (drivers and applications) and now I have a somehow functional system with these settings:
MS-8606 drivers from delivered CD
Nvidia WDM 2.03 drivers from MSI, universal capture, tvtuner and crossbar disabled (tvaudio cannot be disabled, the system crash in blue screen).
Nvidia 44.03 drivers from MSI
Multimedia Center with patch
Intervideo Windvr MSIPVS from delivered CD
Wincinema manager and WinIRXhelp.exe disabled (not loaded at startup - if anyone of them are loaded, Intervideo Windvr msipvs and/or Multimedia center freezes at start, and sometimes the system freezes imediately after reboot, when loading one of these applications).
The remote control from VGA card is working with IR receiver connected to tvtuner socket, but only inside Multimedia Center, but no way with intervideo windvr standalone (and for some reasons, i'd like to use it with windvr).
I also suspect a conflict between one of the motherboard's items and the remote control function (but i've tried settings in bios with all the additional items disabled, usb, 1394, etc.)
1. First question: any chance to have a better MS-8606 driver, with correct tables for PAL-B/G/D/K, Romania, Germany etc., with better image quality, and very important, with a clean uninstall, in order to be able to further debug conflicts if any.
2. Second question: any chance to have a stable system with remote control function in multimedia center AND WinDVR AND WinDVD (standalone applications delivered with FX-5600).
3. Where the hell is the conflict that freezes the system when loading wincinema manager and/or winIRX ?
Thank you in advance,
Costin

OK, now I'm pretty sure the main problem is the tvtuner, drivers to be more specific (ms-8606 and remote control dlls).
If I let nvidia wdm capture drivers enabled, the remote control isn't working anymore. But if nvidia wdm are disabled, in multimeda center you cannot scan tvtstations anymore  (the system freezes 8o - soooo funny).
So, if anyone spent money on this tvtuner, and have fx-5600 vtdr128 video card with capture drivers, the solution is:
1. install both ms-8606 AND nvidia wdm drivers
2. install and configure multimedia center (with patch applied before any attempt to configure it) and intervideo windvr msipvs - VERY IMPORTANT: disable Wincinema Manager AND WinIRXhelp.exe from startup, imediately after installing windvr and multimedia center, and leave them disabled for good (with msconfig for example).
3. scan for tvstations
4. now disable nvidia wdm drivers (universal capture, tvtuner, video crossbar, tvaudio crossbar cannot be disabled)
5. you have now a somehow stable system, with remote control working only inside multimedia center

  • Will be building with an MSI z87-g65 and 4770K cpu and Windows 7 Pro

I will be building a system with an MSI z87-g65 and 4770K cpu and using either an MSI 460GTX or an MSI N6970 HD (both never used VGAs).
I read this topic and how it was solved:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=169759.msg1241119#msg1241119
I wonder if using the "onboard" GPU in the 4770K would be simpler to load Windows 7?  I did a search and didn't find posts relating to this.

The listed cards will work fine. The integrated gpu won't work better or make it easier for Win7. Just don't enable Win8 features in UEFI.

  • Problems with a MSI K8N

So yeah I just bought alot of computer parts including this motherboard. I have my computer area downstairs in my house but I have a spare monitor in my room. After I finished installing everything I pluged the case into the wall and hooked it up. I proceeded to turn the power on and noticed the "NEO PLATNIUM" on the screen I figured everything was working so I turned the power off not thinking it would mess the bios up and took it downstairs and pluged it in again with my real monitor and computer set up. I tried to power it on again and it shut off in like 5-10 seconds I proceeded doing this about 4 times everytime it shut off so I took it back up stairs to see if something became unplugged. From then on I couldnt even get it to turn back on. My case showed a green light but when I pushed power It didnt work. I tried clearing the cmos with no success. I'm hoping somehow you guys will know what to do.
    Thanks for you time.

Hey man, I feel your pain, and I feel obligated to post this because of the way everybody else is treating the problem.
Let me point this out to everybody:
This guy knows what he's doing, he isn't doing anything stupid.  This IS a problem with this MSI board.  How do I know?  Because my computer setup is doing the exact same thing.  I've been through 2 boards and 3 CPU's now.  My setup worked fine for 2 weeks, then one day it just stopped working.  It turns on for 5 seconds, then just turns itself off.  It does not post.  D-Bracket claims it is a bad or badly seated CPU.  It lies.  I just put in a brand new working CPU today, and i'm getting the same issue.  It IS the motherboard.  Now I just have to get it fixed from MSI somehow.  I feel comforted knowing i'm not the only one with this problem.  I just replied to some other guys post about having this issue.
I just posted my issue on another motherboard, but I will post it here as well for you all to read so that you know this issue is more widespread than it may seem.
Boy, what a ride this has been so far.
Let me briefly explain the issue. Got a the motherboard and a XP64 3200+ from newegg.com, etc. Plug it all together - nothing. I've built plenty of systems, and i've built several using thet MSI K8N board, also. I discover that the RAM is bad and the motherboard is also bad. Repeat as necessary several times.
Long story short, I'm on CPU #3 and Mobo #2, soon to be #3.
The 1st CPU was returned because a friend was working on the system and pulled the heatsink off and the CPU stuck to the bottom of the heatsink and some of the pins got bent/broke. (This is due to the poor design of the heatsink holder on the MSI board. There is WAY too much surface area between the heatsink and the CPU for the heatsink to be enclosed how it is on this board.. trying to pull them apart like that is just impossible. It can't be done. It has to be at an angle. . Only way).
Now, after we got the motherboard RMA'd and bought a new CPU, everything worked fine and dandy.
Two weeks later, one day the system just won't boot. There is no video signal at all. The problem is that when the system turns on, it runs for about 7 seconds.. all the fans turn on, etc. and then it just turns itself off.
I've tried different power supplies, i've tried only with the CPU, Mobo, and RAM, and hell, i've even tried it without the RAM. I've tried it out of the case, to check for shorts. Nothing. I've checked the power switch to be sure it isn't being stuck on, it's not. There is no reason, whatsoever for the computer to do this. The Diagnosis LED Lights show all 4 red which means badly seated or damaged CPU. Ok. So I RMA the CPU. I just get it back today, and we're on the 3rd CPU now. Plugged it all together.. brand new CPU. The old one obviously didn't work or else they wouldn't have RMA'd this one to us. They should have tested this one first too, I think.
    SAME PROBLEM.
The computer turns on, lights fans etc. come on, and 7 seconds later the computer shuts down. There are no BIOS beep codes, no video signals, NOTHING.
This really only leaves me with one conclusion - the motherboard is bad. There are only 2 choices, CPU or Motherboard, and the CPU is brand new.. and the problem was the same with the last one ... common denomonator is the motherboard. Now its been so long waiting for the RMA on the CPU and everything ... plus the 2 weeks that this motherboard worked, that newegg probably won't take back the motherboard. My only real options is to send it to MSI for repair or something.
This is a very sad day. The only thing I can think would have happened is that the motherboard had some kind of voltage issue to the CPU.. maybe some kind of electric jolt that damaged the CPU socket and the CPU itself so that now nothing works. I'm most afraid that the motherboard is damaging the CPU's.. and that this new one we just put in could be damaged from the motherboard also.
These things are expensive... I can't afford for all this to keep going. I've easily spent $150 - $200 doing RMA's for all this ****. It's just ****ing rediculous. I should win an award for most computer problems.
Before I start freaking out about this even more, let me get to the point of this post.
Has anybody else experienced something like this? Specifically with this board? With something else? What the hell can I do about this, or is my only option the motherboard.. as far as I can tell.. it can't be anything else.
    -Kevin

  • Problem with 8800GT + MSI G31TM-P21

For a while now, I've been using an 8800GT + MSI G31TM-P21 as a secondary gaming system. This has been working admirably for a few months. Lately though, I've moved the board to a new case+PSU, have changed out the RAM and added a new hard drive. Now, I'm starting to have problems. The system will boot with the 8800GT + WinXP, but is sluggish and crashes (usually a crash to desktop instead of a complete lockup) within 5 minutes of launching a 3d game. The 8800GT works fine in another system - it stood up fine to an extended gaming session on a different P35 board. I loaded Win8 just for testing purposes, and the display driver crashed just doing desktop operations. I also ran Memtest86+ for about 12 hours on the RAM with no failures. The head scratcher is that an even more ancient Radeon X1800 GTO seems to work fine with the MSI board. System config is below:
MSI G31TM-P21 (not sure about BIOS rev)
    Intel Pentium Dual-core E5500 @ 2.8GHz
2x2GB Kingston Value RAM 800MHz DDR2 (dual channel)
    LG DVD+RW
2x7200RPM drives and one 5000+ RPM "Green" drive
    Windows XP SP3 32-bit
    Arrow "500w MAX" PSU
A bit more about the PSU - it's a cheap, older model with a 20-pin power connector. As I understand it (and I could be wrong) the extra 4 pins just power the PCIe video card, which are unnecessary since the video card has a power cable all its own. This setup worked fine in my old case, with an even older PSU. I guess my next step would be to resurrect my old 300w PSU and see if it works properly, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas before I tear my case apart. BTW, there is no overclocking going on anywhere in this setup...
UPDATE: Took a closer look at the old PSU, and it was an Allied/Apex 300 watt with (get this) 10 amps on the +12v rail. Nonetheless the 8800GT seemed to work fine on it. The "new" PSU has 17 amps on the +12v rail.

That $25 Arrow 500W with +12V~17A is a joke. Any decent 500W PSU should have at least +12V~30A. I wouldn't trust that thing any further that I could throw it and at my age that's not very far. Even a Corsair 3 year old VX450W that I have has +12V~33A. You need minimum of +12V~26A for system with that graphics card to begin with, see the chart here: https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-for-graphics-cards. You're lucky that PSU you had before worked at all in your system.
Get a Corsair PSU, a CX430W V2 +12V~28A would do but better would be the CX500 V2 +12V~34A. Even more power would be needed if you intend to upgrade to later and greater more power hungry VGA card any time soon.. See the Corsairs here:

  • MSI Z87m problems with Realtek install

I cannot install Realtek drivers with this motherboard. Brand-new system with Windows 7. Intel I5 CPU, gigabyte gtx 780, 8 GB ram. All drivers updated, win 7 updated.
I have tried the drivers from the included disc and also direct from Realtek site. They will install but they will not work. Red Cross shows up on the volume icon anytime I try to open audio.
I have even tried reinstalling the OS twice. Makes no difference.
I tried installing the Realtek drivers from SafeBoot. I just get an error message.
Creative Sound Blaster cinema will also not work because the RealTek drivers don't work.
I have read a few other posts of people having this exact same problem with this motherboard and Realtek drivers.
The windows HD audio will work.
Right clicking on Realtek properties in device manager shows everything is working fine, even though it isn't.
I have also had problems when booting into the bios. If I try to change anything, like a fan setting, and then try to save and exit, the system freezes. I had to CMOS once already. Pc also freezes in the bios when trying to access the hardware Monitor option, requiring a reboot. The other options work fine.
I've written to MSI about this problem but I was hoping somebody might have an idea of what I could try before I take the system back to the store for them to check it and replace the motherboard, as I will then be without the PC for a week.

What xmad is trying to get as information is the 'complete' name of the mainboard. Z87m is not good enough. Also, more information about the other systems components including specifics of the RAM, brand, rated speed, and the PSU brand and description. For now, test with just a single RAM stick.

  • Middleware problem -Outbound queue is stuck in SAP R/3 system with message

    Hi Middleware gurus ,
We are stuck with a serious issue . We are trying to download Business partners from SAP R/3 4.6c system to SAP CRM 5.2 system using CRM Middleware
Previously we did a successful Initial download of 2 Business partners from SAP R/3 to CRM . Their BP numbers in CRM are 001 and 002 . The Delta load is working fine for the both the BPs which are already downloaded
Now , the real problem is when we are trying to download a new Business partner . When we set the Filter ( BP no 003 ) in MW adaptor object CUSTOMER_MAIN and start the Initial load again , we see that the Outbound queue is getting stuck with message “STOP” .
There are two queues generated in SAP R/3 system with names “MASS_CRM_CUSTOME” and “R3AD_CUSTOME” . The status for both the queues is “STOP” and when go for details it mentions “sapsuck ..SAPMSSY1 “ -Message no. SR 053.
Even we checked the txn SMW01, the Bdocs message is "Recived ( Intermediate state) " for Bdoc type BUPA_MAIN.
We really don’t as to why the Initial load worked fine with 2 BPs  and later when want to do more BP Initial Load the Outbound queue is getting stuck
Also , by unlocking the 2nd queue “R3AD_CUSTOME” we are able to release it , but the first queue “MASS_CRM_CUSTOME*” is stuck
    Please help us urgently

Hi Praveen and other Middleware gurus,
We checked on this . Actually the RFC is used for connecting to SAP R/3 system.
We also raised an OSS message on this and found a reply that in transaction CRMM_BUPA_MAP, we can map the required BP . But the SAP support guy recived an error received the error:
An RFC link is not maintained in the Middleware
    Message no. CRM_BUPA_MAPPING051
We have set the RFC link , but still the problem continues!!!
    Please help further..

I have a user on an iMac 10.6 connected to our domain.  She uses Outlook web access for email on our exchange server.  Last week she received the following message which is randomly preventing her from sending emails.  She claims no attachment was involved in the original email when this all started.  I have not been able to look at her account as she is out of the office but maybe someone else dealt with this issue.  I realize this may not be Mac related but thought I'd give it a try.  She did say it occurred once over two days while working on a PC but it continued over the past weekend.
If an internal user tries to send a message with infected attachment using Outlook Web Access, it may report the following error message: The action could not be completed because of a conflict with the original item. The conflict may have occurred when an existing item was updated on another computer or device. Open the item again and try making your changes. If the problem continues, contact technical support for your organization.
This is because F-Secure Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange has detected a virus in the attachment. If the user tries to send the message again, the message will be sent but without the attachment. At the same time a blank message with an attachment named "Attachment_information.txt" will remain in the user's Drafts folder. The "Attachment_information.txt" will contain information about the virus detected in the message.

PS - have found other posts indicating that clips smaller than 2s or sometimes 5s, or "short files" can cause this. Modern style editing often uses short takes ! Good grief I cannot believe Apple. Well I deleted a half a dozen short sections and can export, but now of course the video is a ruined piiece of junk and I need to re-do the whole thing, the sound etc. which is basically taking as much time as the original. And each time I re-do it I risk again this lovely error -50 and again trying to figure out what thing bugs it via trial and error instead of a REASONABLE ERROR MESSAGE POINTING TO THE CLIP IT CAN'T PROCESS. What a mess. I HATE this iMovie application - full of BUGS BUGS BUGS which Apple will not fix obviously, since I had this product for a few years and see just hundreds of hits on Google about this error with disappointed users. Such junk I cannot believe I paid money for it and Apple does not support it with fixes !!!
If anyone knows of a GOOD reasonably priced video editing program NOT from APPLE I am still looking for suggestions. I want to do more video in future, but obviously NOT with iMovie !!!

hello! My iMac frozed and I had to switch the electricty supply off and on in order to start again the system, with the problem that the screen looks wierd, I tried to calibrate it... doesnt works any suggestion?

Dear Paul, thank you very much for your time and answer, I followed those steps, somehow it helped the performance of my Imac, is faster now, but the screen issue about the very High contrast colours is still there. Since I am a photographer I am very depending on the screen calibration. I am worried that I came to damage the video card when I shut down the computer from the swicth when It was frozed.

  • Problem with executing work item from the inbox

    Hello All,
I'm able to send mails from R/3 to Outlook along with the attachment to execute the work item directly from the outlook.
However upon clicking the Exectute work Item.sap file I get an sap gui popup with the description " Not all data for SAP  GUI shortcut is available. System description and GUI start parameter are unknown. Entering the missing data."
Clicking on the OK button, leads to another window for SAP logon details. After I chose the right system and on Clicking OK, it opens up the logon prompt. Entering the logo info opens up the work item correctly.
We are on ECC 5.0 with SAP GUI 640 patch level 18 on it. Any suggestions about what am I missing to directly jump into an sap screen provided a session already is open in SAP.
    Thanks and Regards
    Uday

    Hello Uday,
Sounds like something is wrong in the SAPLogon <i>on the client PC</i>. The system sends out a shortcut, and when it's opened it does not relate to a unique entry in the saplogon. Either it's called differently or you have two entries for the same system with different parameters.
    Hope that helps,
    Mike

this is the cursor version, I also tried SELECT statement, but have trouble about return more than 1 row.
:Order_Record is a detailed-form with multiline text items, while execute this cursor, it always rewrite the 1st line and wont go to 2nd line, I wanna get some help about how to display different records in different line in a text item.
btw, i tried next_record,next_item,next_field, but none of them works, the query is based on the record i filled on the master form, and show related record in detailed-form

I work in the power conversion industry and do these types of measurements all the time…
Do you want to just measure power quality or create and measure power quality problems?
    What hardware are you using?
    Power quality analyzer?
    Programmable AC power source?
    Fast Transient Generator?
Here is an example of what I do.
To create PQ problems I use a California Instruments AC source set to nominal power for the unit under test. Using Labview I program several transients consisting of fixed and random duration dropouts and surges. I also use a Schaffer Fast Transient Burst Generator to apply high frequency noise bursts directly onto power lines.
For measuring power quality I use a Voltech PM3000A power analyzer and Labview to measure everything from voltage, current, and frequency, to  harmonics and %THD

You cannot.  If someone else told you there is a way then they will need to show you.  After Effects requires a 64-bit system and the latest release requires Mac OS X v10.8 or v10.9 minimum

During a browsing session looking for spares for garden machinery I got a message saying something was trying to upload an unsecure update to Firefox. Have scanned system with Avast and a couple of other malware programs but have no reported threats. As far as I am aware my browser is fully up to date.

  • HELP ! System freezes now with new MSI GeForce 6600GT AGP

Any/All help is greatly appreciated... this is driving me crazy.
Just installed a new MSI 6600GT AGP card.  Windows/Apps work fine.. but system keeps freezing (disabling keyboard as well) when running certain games (3D?) like Medal of Honor, Prince of Perisa, SplinterCell.  Also, freezes on 3DMark01SE benchmark software.  What strange is 3DMark2K5 ran fine.. and returned a respectable score (3078).   I've tried unistalling/re-installing latest MSI drivers (71.22), Nvidia's 66.93, and removing nVidia's GART drivers.  I've also disconnected other hardware to allieviate PSU constraints.  I've uninstalled/re-installed 6600GT card and molex power connector on card.  My system specs are below:
    Motherboard = ASUS Focus A7N8X-LA, BIOS=American Megatrend 3.07, Chipset = nVidia nForce2
    MSI GeForce 6600GT 128 AGP
    1Gb Ram
    200Gb Maxtor  8mb buffer HD
    ASUS E616P1  DVD-ROM

    Question
    I just got a K8 series MB , and your A6600GT 128MB VGA , every time when I quit the 3D games ,
the system gave me a blue screen and then restart the system. I already update the VGA driver and MB
driver but no luck , what can I do?
    Answer
If your system are WinXP + SP2 , We suggest you to disable DEP function.
Please follow below steps to disable the DEP. (See below picture)
    1. First , Select “Advanced” under “System Properties”
    2. Choose “Settings” under “Startup and Recovery”
    3. Click “ Edit “ , then you can edit “boot.ini” file.
    4. Change “/NoExecute=OptIn” as “/execute” (See below red square in step4)
    5. Then save the boot.ini file and restart the system.
    6. After rebooting , the DEP function will be disable.

    • /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN Enables DEP for core system images and those specified in the DEP
    configuration dialog.
    • /NOEXECUTE=OPTOUT Enables DEP for all images except those specified in the DEP
    configuration dialog.
    • /NOEXECUTE=ALWAYSON Enables DEP on all images.
    • /NOEXECUTE=ALWAYSOFF Disables DEP.
    Configuration Description
    OptIn
    (default configuration)
On systems with processors capable of hardware-enforced DEP, DEP is
enabled by default for limited system binaries and applications that
    “opt-in,”
With this option, only Windows system binaries are covered by DEP by
    default.
OptOut DEP is enabled by default for all processes. Users can manually create
a list of specific applications which do not have DEP applied using
System in Control Panel. IT Pros and Independent Software Vendors
(ISVs) can use the Application Compatibility Toolkit to opt-out one or
more applications from DEP protection. System Compatibility Fixes
(“shims”) for DEP do take effect.
AlwaysOn This provides full DEP coverage for the entire system. All processes
always run with DEP applied. The exceptions list for exempting
specific applications from DEP protection is not available. System
Compatibility Fixes (“shims”) for DEP do not take effect. Applications
which have been opted-out using the Application Compatibility Toolkit
    run with DEP applied.
AlwaysOff This does not provide any DEP coverage for any part of the system,
regardless of hardware DEP support. The processor does not run in
PAE mode unless the /PAE option is present in the boot entry.
Yes let us know how it goes. Hopefully well.
