Target Vs. Bottom-up Version

Hello,
I donno if this is a valid question, but here is my question
When I can use a target vesrion either to input at level-0 to aggregate it to the top level or to override
the top level(after aggregations from level-0) and spread it to the levels below, what is the use of
bottom-up version.
If I am right we can get the complete functionality of bottom-up version work
from target version as well (other than work flows and drivers are read-only, that I can think), so
why the tool has two different versions?
I wish we can have workflows(process management) for target vesrion as well.
We are planning to use target vesrion to get the bottom-up verison feature as well,
so I just want to make sure there is no much difference by not using the bottom-up
version seperately.
Please correct me if I am wrong of using target version tha way we are planning to use.
Thanks
Ram

Hi kapil,
Thanks for the response.
One question that I have before I go through the link and see what exactly you are saying(navigation in 11.1.2.0 planning)
is to assign the target version to the planning unit hierarchy. I understand you are saying to select distributed budgeting
option during the planning unit template creation, but can we assign target version in next steps(scenario and version
assignment for planning unit). I am not too sure how it is functioning in this release, but the technical document still says
target version doesn't support workflows.
Please correct me if I am missing anything.

  • Bottom-up versions

    hi,
    the versions type bottom-up means that level0 must be for all the dimensions including entity or only the account?
    our customer wants to be able to adjust the numbers on higher entity level of lower entities levels, it is possible?

    Hi,
    The documentation gives a perfect description
    You can create target and bottom up versions. With bottom up versions, you enter data into bottom level members; parent level members are display-only and do not permit data entry. Parent member values are aggregated from bottom level members.
    For target versions, you can enter data for members at any level in the hierarchy. You can use business rules to distribute values from parent members to their descendants. Use target versions to set high-level targets for your plan. Planners working with bottom up versions can reference these targets when they enter plan data.
    Target versions use top-down budgeting. Workflow Tasks are not allowed, and children of target members must be blank (for example, #missing) to enable data input at the top level. Target members must be set to Store (Dynamic Calc overrides data input with sum of children).
    Cheers

  • Bottom up Version is Read Only

    In my data form, when I set the version to Target version in POV, I can get rows/columns to be writeable. However, when I change the version to bottom up, all rows/columns show up as read only, even when they are not. I am using the admin account to do all this. On the forms, none of the rows/columns are marked as read only.
    any ideas why? Version is 11.1.2.

    In target versions, you can input data to upper levels of dimensions. However in bottom up versions, you can only input data to bottom members even if you are admin. I suggest you make sure that in the form you are inputting data the dimension combinations are bottom member combinations.

  • How to push the data from PSA to Data Target in 3.5 version

    Hi Experts,
    I'm currently working on BI 7. I have some master data load being maintained in 3.5 version.
    The infopackage has an option to load the data to psa and data target when extracted.
    I want to stage the data at PSA only.
    Later I want to trigger it to the target.
    In 7 version we use DTP but I'm not very sure what should I do here.
    Can anyone please help me to push the data to the target please using 3.5 version.
    Thanks

    Hi pathak,
    Thanks for your reply. I'm able to do it.
    Can you please tell me how do I filter the load to target.
    We have filter in DTP where i can restrict the load.
    Do we have any option in 3.5.
    Please advice.

    I want to run some code just before iphone application goes into background. I need function similar to didEnterBackground

    I tried using devactivated function of flash.display.STAGE.
    I used following addEventListener:
    STAGE = this.parent.stage;
    STAGE.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onAppDeactivated);
    It worked for me but only when device is connected to development environment in debug mode. When I create my release build

  • Exporting to swf file targeted to Flash Player version 9

    I am trying to create a swf file targetted to version 9 of Flash Player, but when I export to the swf format from InDesign CS5, there doesn't seem to be an option to change the targeted version, and I get files targetted to version 10 instead.
    I need to be able to target to version 9 to run in the zmags environment.
    Does amyone know if there is there any way to do this from InDesign?
    Thanks!

    Thank you kindly for your answer. I knew it was possible to do in Flash and I'm finishing it this time around using Flash Professional, but my client owns only InDesign at this point. I was hoping to discover how to do it with software she already has.
    If it's the case that there's no way to do from InDesign alone, then that would be the answer. Before I share that unhappy news with her, though, I wanted to be certain there was no way to do it from within InDesign.
    Do you know - is that definitely the case, then?
    (um.... I just noticed you're a 'community professional' so I guess that would be the case then?
    A 'yes' will suffice and I'll go away quietly)

  • Is Appoval Process for Standard Target possible in 11.1.2.1

    Hi All,
    We are testing Workflow Approval process in 11.1.2.1
    The idea is to get a Free Flow approval process to work for a Standard Target Version member.
    So, we created 2 members in the Version dimension;
    1) Working - Standard Target
    2) BU_Ver - Bottom up
    After assigning access to respective users in entity, scenario and version dimensions;
    and defining the planning unit, when I try to do Scenario and Version Assignment
    I can only see the Scenario members and for Version selection the Bottom up (BU_Ver) member.
    The Standard Target member (*Working*) does not appear in the drop down.
    My questions is;
    1) Is it possible to implement a free form workflow using Standard Target.
    Please help !!
    Thanks in advance.

    I have similar situation with my client and I had below post few days back. I was hoping to get some feed back.
    Process management vs target vesrion
    If the purpose is to know who is signing off and not to control read/write access during the approvals and rejections I am thinking of trying above post. I still need to test that and see if I am missing anything.
    Distributed budgeting: Oracle doc:
    After the data is collected at the lower levels, the budget is submitted through the process management approval process. After all the budgets are submitted, >the top budget group owner reviews, approves, and loads the budgets for budgetary control, transaction control, and reporting.I think Oracle meant to copy data from 'target' to 'bottom-up' version before enabling process management (I donno what makes the difference of using distributed/free-form option during planning unit creation), it is still not clear enough for me.
    Enabling 'bottom-up' forecast for detail level sales forecast is practically not an easy process and I may have to push back the scope on 'process management'
    Thanks

  • Process Management for Standard Target Version

    Hi All,
    I am newbie to hyperion, I am entering values at parent level by taking version type as "Standard Target", Is this possible to create Process Management for "Standard Target" versions? if yes how? Plz help me.
    Regards,
    Naresh R

    I take it you are talking about planning, process management is for "Bottom Up Versions"
    From the docs
    "Target versions use top-down budgeting. *Manage Process Tasks are not allowed*, and children of target members must be blank (for example, #MISSING) to enable data input at the top level."

  • The behavior of aggregation of target version

    Hi,
    New to use Target version. I wonder whether any different behavior of aggregation for target version in comparison to bottom up version?
    Thank you in advance.
    Casp

    Hi,
    There is no difference whatsoever in terms of aggregation. However, if you wish to keep target values in parents unchanged after aggregation, you should place SET AGGMISSG OFF; on top of your business rule.

  • Transfer of Production Version

    Hi Gurus,
    i am trying to transfer the Production Versions of a Material to an other System via IDoc. I am using BD10 for transfering.. The relevant Segment E1MKALM in MATMAS05 is filled with all data from the source. But in the Target Systen tge Production Version is not added (Material exists already in Target system, only addition is needed).
    what am i am doing wrong? The Segment E1MKALM is directly for Production Version, but why this is not used in the target system? There are no errors in BD87 when i process the IDoc.
    any Ideas?

  • Bad version number on Mac, but not PC

    I have a java applet that works fine in Windows. It works fine on Macs as long as I compile it with JDK 1.5. However, once I compile it with JDK 1.6 it loads in Windows, but it doesn't load at all in Mac OSX. I've tried compiling it with javac using -target 1.5 -source 1.5 and -target 1.4 -source 1.4 but no luck.
    None of the computers I have tested on have JRE version lower than 1.5. The Mac I tested it on has JRE 1.5.16. I've also tested it on Ubuntu with JRE 1.5, which didn't work, and 1.6, which did work.
    Here is the error from appletviewer in Mac:

    The above workarounds don't work for me on Windows, the only thing that has worked for me is to set the prefs to tabbed whilst the script is running.
    function tabInterface(onOff) {
    if(onOff == undefined) onOff=true;
        var desc19 = new ActionDescriptor();
            var ref8 = new ActionReference();
            ref8.putProperty( charIDToTypeID('Prpr'), stringIDToTypeID('interfacePrefs') );
            ref8.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('capp'), charIDToTypeID('Ordn'), charIDToTypeID('Trgt') );
        desc19.putReference( charIDToTypeID('null'), ref8 );
            var desc20 = new ActionDescriptor();
            desc20.putBoolean( charIDToTypeID('EGst'), true );
            desc20.putBoolean( stringIDToTypeID('openNewDocsAsTabs'), onOff );
        desc19.putObject( charIDToTypeID('T   '), stringIDToTypeID('interfacePrefs'), desc20 );
        executeAction( charIDToTypeID('setd'), desc19, DialogModes.NO );
    function isTabInterface(){
    var ref = new ActionReference();
    ref.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID("capp"), charIDToTypeID("Ordn"), charIDToTypeID("Trgt") );
    return executeActionGet(ref).getObjectValue(stringIDToTypeID('interfacePrefs')).getBoolean(stringIDToTypeID( 'openNewDocsAsTabs'));

  • "An Error Occured: Try Again" Message Everywhere. App nearly unusable. [Version 1.0.0.3251]

    Hello,
    After upgrading to Spotify version 1.0.0.3251, I have had numerous issues with connecting, searching, and playing music as a Premium user. No matter what I do, whether it is under Browse, Discover, Radio, Search, Playlists, or my own user profile, I simply see the message "An error occured" and does not disappear no matter how many times I click the "try again" button. This occurs on both WiFi and cellular, even when other iPhone apps are able to successfully connect to the internet. When the Spotify app is in this pseudo-offline state, the only things I can do is play my offline-saved songs from my Starred list and change some in-app settings, but nothing more. It will not update with any changes I have made to my playlists from my desktop either.
    The only way I have been able to get the Spotify app to reconnect to the service is by fully restarting my iPhone, and that only works some of the time. In the unlikely event that this does restore service, it doesn't last for very long, and it reverts to its "offline" state usually the first time I close the app or switch between WiFi and cellular.
    Here are some things I've done to try to fix it:
    Force-quitting Spotify from the iPhone task switcher. This changes nothing and does not fix the problem.
    Logging out and back in. While Spotify allows me to log back in, everything still says "An error occured. This does not work.
    Deleting the Spotify app and reinstalling it. Also does not work, even after successfully logging in as above. Also deletes all my backed up songs.
    Reseting my network settings from iPhone settings menu. This helps none whatsoever.
    Connecting via different WiFi networks / cellular settings. This also changes nothing. Remains in offline state.
    Restarting the iPhone fully. This only sometimes work, and if it does, it quickly reverts to the ubiquitous "Error has occured" message.
    Mashing random buttons and icons. Doesn't help, but makes me feel slightly better.
    My Specifications:
    Model: iPhone 5 (AT&T GSM)
    iOS Version: 7.0.4 (Jailbroken, but this was never an issue before 1.0.0.3251. No extensions target Spotify.)
    Spotify Version: 1.0.0.3251
    Spotify Status: Premium (University Discount)
    Username: kanosea
    If you need any more information, just let me know. I have iFile installed, so I can dig up any files you need if you give me the filepath.
    Thanks.

    I have the same problem.  It is exremely annoying after playing my offiline playlist it fixes and I am able to search and or browse and listen to music not already on my playlists.  Why does it do this?  Never had this problem before the update.  I have an iphone 5 not jailbroken.

  • Why doesn't the #target directive work in InDesign CC scripting?

    I have a script which works fine when run from ExtendScript Toolkit on both InDesign CS4 and InDesign CC -- but I am unable to specifically target CC using the #target directive.
    At the top of my .jsx file, if I put:
    #target "InDesign-6.0"
    Then the script will open InDesign CS4 and run the script. However, if I put:
    #target "InDesign-9.0"
    It throws a dialog error "InDesign-9.0" is undefined! I've tried 8.0 and 9.1 just in case I had the version number wrong; nothing works.
    Now, it is true that I can get it to work by simply adding:
    #target "InDesign"
    which targets the latest installed version, CC. BUT this is not a solution, just a workaround! I want to be absolutely sure I am targeting the specific version specified. Someday I may install a newer version alongside it, and then all of a sudden it will "jump" to that version when the script runs, and that's not what I want.
    Any suggestions?

    After CS6 InDesign was completely converted to 64-bit application.However for windows platform 32-bit version was still supported. Hence for Windows 32-bit and 64-bit both type of versions were part of installation.
    To distinguish between 32-bit and 64-bit version of InDesign, following targets are used.
    For Windows Use:
    #target "indesign-9.032"      //If want use 32-bit version indesign
    #target "indesign-9.064"      //If want use 64-bit version indesign
    For Mac Use:
    #target "indesign-9.064"      //As Most of the MAC machine are already 64-bit , Only 64-bit InDesign is provided for Mac.

    I think I need to fix the fact that the build is trying to run the aspnet_compiler.exe from the v2.0.50727 folder. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\aspnet_compiler.exe
    Do you think that is the main problem, and if so, How do I do that?
    Crazy question.  What would happen if I put the aspnet_compiler.exe from the v2.0 folder into the 4.0 folder?

    Hello JJQuinn,
    I don't recommend you do that since I'm not sure if there is any upgrade to this tool.
    So I checked my 4.0 folder I can find the tool aspnet_compiler.exe and I compared the two files
    As you can see, they are totally different. So I believe you will still get errors if you copy 2.0 version to 4.0 version.
    I have this idea, if you still want to target to .NET 2.0 version, please enable .NET 3.5 on your OS. It seems it is not by default enabled on Server 2012 or Win 8.
    If .NET 4.0 folder missed the aspnet_compiler.exe, you may need to fix .NET 4.0 first, try sfc /scannow to repair your OS and check whether the .NET 4.0 folder will have that file.
    Best regards,
    Barry
