Taxonomies

Hi Everybody.
I have the following folder tree:
/act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento
/act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Analisis_de_Fallas/documentos
/act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Corrosion/documentos
I have an index defined for /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Analisis_de_Fallas/documentos, which contains a taxonomy that classifies documents depending on a property called "Type". This property has 4 possible values.
The same thing happens for /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Corrosion/documentos but with a different property.
<b>Now, I would like to define a Taxonomy for all this folder tree starting at /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento based on a property called 'Recomended' (which has de values YES or NO).</b>
If I create an index for /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento and define my taxonomy in that index, it only classifies the documents contained in /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento, /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Analisis_de_Fallas, /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Corrosion BUT IT DOESN'T classifies the documents contained in /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Analisis_de_Fallas/documentos and /act/Comunidades/Mantenimiento/Corrosion/documentos
This happens because theese folders already have an index defined.
Which is the best way to achieve my desired results?
Thanks in Advance!!

Hello,
are the folders for which the documents are not classified already in another index, i.e. are these folders assigned as data sources to another index? It is not possible to to have documents in two indexes with the same service type, i.e. search or classification. In that case the documents are in the other index and will not be classified in you index with your taxonomy.

  • Can I limit which taxonomies display in the Taxonomy Query builder iview?

I’ve built a bunch of (query based) taxonomies successfully.  I have also placed a taxonomy query builder iview on two portal content pages (one page is called OHS and the other Finance):   In the taxonomy query builder iview, is there a way to ONLY show  related taxonomies for OHS users on the OHS page (and only show Finance taxonomies on the Finance pages)?
In the Taxonomy Query builder it appears that All taxonomies appear all the time.   I’ve tried setting the permissions on the individual indexes and also on the taxonomy folders in KM.

    Hi
I think if you logon to portal as administrator, you are able to see all the taxonomies. But you can restrick end user to see particular taxonomies. Fot that you have to navigate to Content Management -> Classification -> Taxomonies.
Then open that particular index and go to details page of that taxonomy which you want to block for end users.
Then click on setting and open permission page. Delete all the permissions (If any type of permissions already given) then add your end users (you can make a group of particular type of end users and then add that group directly) and give permissions.
I think this will work for you.

  • Create taxonomies based on company-specific properties

    Hello,
We have added additional company-specific and mandatory properties for file uploads, which works wonderful. But when we are creating a taxonomy based on the company-specific properties we have to create it manually.
Does anyone know if there is a way to generate taxonomies automatically based on document properties?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Combining taxonomies + XML Forms

I would Like to use a form from "XML Forms" and Taxonomies
For Example, I made a form about Tecnology, and when a save this form, I woud like to distribute in folders, related with the subject...
    How to do that ?

    Hi Marcus,
It's very simple to do that you need.
You must create property metadata, after that you enter in form builder tool edit Technology form, you will see all metadata created (system, so on). Then you have to asociate this metadata with your subject field. (drag and drop on this field)
At last, you create a new taxonomy in order clasify your xml files. Don't forget to asociate xml filter to this folder, I mean when portal is going to leave xml files after clasify them. It is very importan in order to open this xml files using your form.

    Hi all,
Is it possible to create KM Foders on a specific path in Taxonomies folder programatically ?
I am able to create a folder in Documents but not sure how to create it in Taxonomies ? Will appreciate and reward relevant info.

    Hi,
As you need to get the barcode information firstly and then create folder hierarchy and upload document, workflow is not enough to achieve it your requirement.
If your environment is Office 365, I suggest you can create folder hierarchy and upload document using Client Object Model.
Here are some detailed code demos for your reference:
Call O365 using CSOM with a Console Application

  • KM TREX & TAXONOMIES

    Hi All,
What is the recommendation of using KM in a large number of documents (really large) for many user. This question comes around thanks to some comments of KM final users.
The main concern of KM Users is to navigate trough many folders to finally upload a document. Is there a way that given some users data the upload works itself and put the document in a special folder and maybe assign custom properties to documents. Of course do all this inside the standard or maybe some develops but minimal. Please any suggestion would be appreciated.
Another question, can I create Taxonomies from different CM repositories.

You can create KM Navigation iViews to navigation through repositories and change its style. You can change and add commands. See the following link to see how it's working:
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/504e31fc-f46f-2910-98b4-dd94478c22f8">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/504e31fc-f46f-2910-98b4-dd94478c22f8</a>
    >> Another question, can I create Taxonomies from different CM repositories
I don't think that this is possible. Taxonomies are created in an Index. And there is assigned one Repository.
    Hope this helps.

  • Query Based Taxonomies

    Hello,
I've created successfully a query based taxonomy. I also defined the queries to the folders within the taxonomy. Now my problem is, that a document only belongs to one folder. But in some cases, that's not nice, e.g. when you want to navigate through the hierarchy.
    Example:
    I've got a structure like Folder F1, under that a Folder F2.
    For folder F1 I defined a query: property P1 contains value V1.
    For folder F2 I defined a query: property P2 contains value V2.
After updating the taxonomy it should now be possible, that documents which are classifications of folder F2 also classify to folder F1.
    How to do that?
    Help would be appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Denis

    Hello Karin,
thank you for your answer. Does this mean, that a navigation through the taxonomy hierarchy is not possible (e.g. with a km navigation iView?). Taxonomies are stored in KM under /Taxonomies and I thought that a navigation with a km navigation iView is possible. But I think the real benefit of taxonomies is, that the deeper the hierarchy folder is, the more classified and smaller are the results. But when documents get only classified to more folders when the folders are on the same hierarchy level, how should a navigation be realized?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,

  • Keywords to relate documents tagged in different taxonomies

    Hi there,
I am developing my 2013 site and I have progressed to the point where I have 5 taxonomies and 5 libraries which define all of the content types in my organization. To tie them all together I have created a search return page that draws documents from each
    taxonomy.
I have tried repeatedly to use the enterprise keyword column in the following fashion: Library 1 has document A which is titled Paris. Library 2 has document B that describes the bridges of France.  I assign the keyword Paris to document B so that searches
for Paris will return document A and also return document B.
This trigger works intermittently but I am wondering if there are any query rules I can use or methods to weight keyword higher so that search will pick them up consistently (not using promoted results). Thanks very much for all your patience and support
as I am a SharePoint noob.

    Hi  ,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to sort your search results in SharePoint 2013.
For your issue, you can create a site column and add it into your library, and add a query rule for sorting your search results by the managed property mapping the site column.
Here is a blog you can refer to:

  • Taxonomies + Versioning + State_Management NOT SUPPORTED

    Hi SDN friends,
We are currently in the design phase in the elaboration of a solution to the problem: Taxonomies in combination with versioning and state management are not supported (check SAP Note: 853509).
We reviewed many options and we think that the correct solution is to replicate the current document repositorioy and manage mirroring with non'stantar solutions (repository services, KM API ...). In the first repository (Repository A) only enable versioning and taxonomies, and the second repository (Repository B) activate only State_Management. The idea is that ,when a document is published in the repository B, it will be copied to the repository A. The idea is that the repository A is only for searchs and views and repository B just for editing.
We are looking following options to correct this problem, I look forward to your suggestions.

  • Manual ordering in taxonomies

    Dear SDN Experts, Dear Forum
is there any possibility to enable the command "manual ordering" for taxonomies? For simple km objects there seems to be no problem, the details screen shows me the command but in the taxonomy details screen there is no such function.
(We are running on EP7.0 SP10)
Any suggestions would be very helpful...
Thank you very much in Advance
    Best regards
    Akan

    Hi Akan,
I'm afraid that manual ordering for taxonomy folders is not supported in EP7.0.
Refer to the following post, maybe you will find here suitable solution for your issue:
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?messageID=3276493#3276493">Sort taxonomy folder manually</a>
You can also try to develop custom ResourceListFilter which you can use to change sorting order for displaying taxonomy folders.

  • XML Forms+Taxonomie

associate xml filter with a folder how can I do that.
I made a XML form with a combobox with two values, and I would like to related this values to a Taxonimie to separate into diferent folders.
    thks

    Marcus,
You create your metadata property (Global system ...so on) then in your form you must asociate this metadata to your comobobox (drag and drop operation).
After that, you must create an index and taxonomie
(to classify your xml files). Using Taxonomie query builder iview, choose your taxonomie and asociate your metadata property to your folders. In this way you can classify your information.
After that, you create iviews in order to navigate within taxonimie repository, in the folders where xml documents were classified.
Remember, after classification your xml files will be visibles in taxonimies. If you want to see this document using show form, you must associte this repository (Taxonomies) to a xml filter.

  • Manage Taxonomies

Has anyone had any experience loading managed taxonomies in Endeca. I want to be able to show a user which path they have navigated down a heirarchy, and understand that this is one way to do it. There doesnt seem to be any documentaion or examples out there of how to do it though.
    Many thanks in advance.

There is a chapter in the EID Integrator Components Guide, called "Loading Taxonomies". Here is a link to that:

  • Is AutoClassification for Taxonomies in EP6 SP2 fully functional?

    Hello Again,
I've implemented a query-based taxonomy in EP6 with auto classification. I've created 11 taxonomies in total all under 1 index.  But the functionality seems to be inconsistent and/or non-functional.
After creating the index I follow this process to create each Taxonomy:
    1) (Index Admin) New Taxonomy. (query-based w/ autoclassification)
    2) (taxonomy explorer) Add sub-folders to the taxonomy (new folder)
    3) (Tax Query Builder) Define the queries for each folder
    4) (Tax Query Builder) Click Update
    5) (Index Admin) ReIndex the Index or Data Source
When I do one test taxonomy with one subfolder things normally work as planned, the couple of test files get assigned to the test folders.  But when I try to do the full implementation of 11 taxonomies, 40 total folders, and roughly 1000 documents to classify. None of the files autoclassify. All the files can be seen in the Index, but during the classification process I get many of these errors: [ Indexing document failed. taxonomy not found (Errorcode 2422) ]
1)Is there another step that I'm missing?
    2)What does Taxonomy Syncronization do?
3)What does the datasource incremental update do?
4)Are there any known bugs in EP6 SP2 taxonomies?
    Thanks, DAN

    Update:
After lots of trial and error in this area I've finally found a suitable sequence of events.
    OLD WAY  (Didn't work) :
    1) (Index Admin) New Taxonomy. (query-based w/ autoclassification)
    2) (taxonomy explorer) Add sub-folders to the taxonomy (new folder)
    3) (Tax Query Builder) Define the queries for each folder
    4) (Tax Query Builder) Click Update
    5) (Index Admin) ReIndex the Index or Data Source
NEW WAY:  (Reindex moved to step 3, Save & Update queries afer any document update)
    1) (Index Admin) New Taxonomy. (query-based w/ autoclassification)
    2) (taxonomy explorer) Add sub-folders to the taxonomy (new folder)
    3) (Index Admin) ReIndex the Index at the root index level
    4) (Tax Query Builder) Define the queries for each folder
    5) (Tax Query Builder) Click update for each taxonomy when complete
    6) (Inbox) verify that documents classified correctly
If new KM documents or folders are added
    1) (Index Admin - Data Source) Incrementally update the datasource at the datasource level
    2) (Tax Query Builder) Touch the Taxonomy by selecting 1 query per each Taxonomy and clicking save
    3)  (Tax Query Builder) Click update for each taxonomy - monitor the app log to make sure the update completes before running the next.
    Notes:
*Don't upload KM files with the same name to same dir.
*Be very careful removing/changing KM folder names.
*Changes to the files removes the classification.
FYI:  I still find the implementation of taxonomies in EP6 SP2 beta, but with enough trial and error suitable work-around's can be found.

  • The whole purpose of taxonomies

    Hey all,
I am confused about the taxonomies and classifications. I want to explain you my problem:
I know: Taxonomies are responsible for the hierarchical ordering of catogories. That'  theoretical OK. So, I can classify my documents in several categories of taxonomies. As far as this point I understand all. But: Why can I do this? If I arrange my documents in there hierarchical folder, I have also a classification and I can search for the folder name and I get my documents. But if I search for the name of a taxonomy, I get no results. So in my opinion it has also no sence to classify one document in several categories, when I cannot work with these classifications. (But I am sure there must be a sence:-) )
So: Why do I classify my documents in the categories of taxonomies? What is the whole purpose of them?
I hope anybody can help me. I thank you very much in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Susa

    Hi Susanne,
the idea behind taxonomies is to give the user an alternative way to find the documents. Some users like to use the search, the others like to navigate via folder structure. If you have only one hierarchical structure, you would need to save the same document in many folders, so that the users can find it, even if she/he looks only in one specific folder. By saving the documents in many folders, you have a big problem when you want to update the document. With taxonomies you have virtual hierarchical structures additional to the physical one, and the documents can be found in different folders (via browsing), but the are only saved once.
As it is an alternative to search, you should not need to search in taxonomy structures (what is acutally not possible in KM).
Here are some tips how to use taxonomies: https://forums.sdn.sap.com/click.jspa?searchID=257517&messageID=2133146
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Taxonomies question

    Hello,
We are using example-based taxonomy with automatic classification (KMC 6.0.16). I like to know that when I delete a taxonomy (from the Index Administration iView), does the training documents done previously are lost ? If I re-create the same taxonomie, are they still available and are used as the basis for automatic classification.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi Patricio,
Thank you for your reply. I also thought the same, that the training documents are lost when I delete the taxonomy from Index Administration iView. However, as soon as I re-create the same taxonomy, the trained documents are again used as basis for automatic classification. What do you think of this.
    Thank you.
