Test equipment as PRT , Material or Equipment

Hi there ,
                 As per my understanding we can maintain test equipment as PRT , Material or Equipment....
Can anyone please suggest me that on what factors we can take the decision & what is the relative pros & cons of each.....

                  Even if we maintain the Test equipment  Material or Equipment we can do the same .
What are other factors that will lead us to maintain the same as PRT , Material or Equipment ?

    Could any of you all please let me know whether the availablity check would work if the Equipment as PRT as been assigned to the activity in CN22.  If there is any setting that has to be made other than the availiblity check which is in Material node and explained as below, then request your valuable input. 
    Material --> Availability Check --> Define Checking Control
    With respect to  Plant and Order Type
    Under PRT availabilty
    No Check is not enabled (Not ticked)
    Checking Rule is assigned as 2 (Status Check and Inventory Audit)
    Collect. conversion  assigned as 3 (No creation if PRT is missing)
    Or if any would be able to give the actual steps to be followed up in the easy access also it would be helpful.

  • Functional location for the respective material and equipment in a report

    i want to show the functional location for the respective material and equipment in a report designed for plant maintenace module..how should i add a field in the report which already contains the order , material and equipment no ?..just have to add a field  functional location in that report. Can anyone plzz tellme from which table should i fetch the data .?

    From EQUI get the recent/valid EQUZ record.
    From EQUZ get the ILOA record.
    ILOA holds the TPLNR for the equipment.
    And from ILOA you can get IFLOT.
    edit: just noticed you can use V_EQUI as well.

    STATUS_TEXT_EDIT you can find out the status.

  • Dismantling of material from equipment BOM

    Dear Experts
    I am a beginner in SAP PM. I have one PM scenario. How to implement in SAP.
    I want to dismantle one temperature gauge from one equipment for repaired, first I have to dismantle the gauge from equipment and after repairing I have to reinstall the gauge on equipment. How to proceed for that?
    My temperature gauge is maintained in BOM for that equipment. How can I dismantle material from equipment BOM and reinstall that?

        In IQ01 for the 'material' Temp gauge I created one serial no and equipment. I installed that equipment(temp gauge) on pump as sub equipment. Then before repairing, in IE02 itself I selected dismantle and dismantled. Is it the way you were mentioning?
    Alternatively when I use the t-code IE4N it gives the following error massage: -
    "Missing Customizing settings for software component ECC-DIMP
    Message no. IEN126"
    Can you please tell me the path details for IE4N. And is there any customising settings reqd for this T-code.

    HI Kolla........
    PRT stands for Production Resource & Tools.......It means the marterial which assist in production activities..........e.g. Jigs and fixtures are PRTs as they help in production.........
    Counter is nothing but a Measuring Device which measures the usage of an equipment / material....e.g. Odometer in Vehicles is counter that reads the Kilometer covered by the vehicle.......
    PRT can be a material , an equipment or documents.......
    For Material PRT.........PRT tab has to be active........
    For Equipment PRT.......PRT tab has to be active as well as PRT Category should be used for Equipment....
    Calcualtion of Usage of PRT in Production leads to Attaching Counter to PRT & then assigning it to the Production Routing.........

  • Update superior equipment status based on sub equipment status

    Dear friends,
    I have a scenario for calibration process for  which there are two equipments .One sub equipment and the other superior equipment. Calibration process is done for sub equipment and I have given usage decision as rejected based on which sub equipment staus gets updated as NPRT(PRT not ready for use). Now the client requirement is as that the superior equipment also get the status NPRT since they are linked through superior/sub equipment relation. Kindly suggest some solutions.

    Dear friends ,
    I have observed that if a sub equipment is assigned to a superior equipment ,the equipment status of sub equipment does not get updated when calibration process is run.(NPRT status does not get updated if an equipment is installed to a superior eqpt when usage decision is made for not accepted). So there is no possiblity of updating the superior equipment status. Hence kindly ignore my query.

    Dear experts,
    I need a complete step by step process regarding the PRT materials
    1) PRT material -- Procurement ( FHMI material type don't have  purchasing view , no accounting view)
    How can we stock this PRT material if procured
    2) PRT Material -- BOM involvement
    3) How to consider this PRT material in Production order ( related to Consumption)
    4) We need to track the movement of the PRT material in Production process.
    Please provide me the details on this.

    Thanks for your reply,
    If I can configure the Material type with purchasing view & accounting view then I can inward the PRT material into the stock.
    But I am not understanding why SAP has restricted the Purchasing view & accounting view for thes materials since these materials ( for eg --- Drill bits, Spanners, alloys, welding rods etc ) should be procured externally. So inspite of that why PRT material is not allowed procurement as per standard.
    Is there is no other to keep the PRT material in stock.

    Which is having valuation class as T001
    but its acccouting entries are wrong
    its crediting twice in the Inventory account

    Actually, in Sales document (87341040) the credit should go to Other Income since the inventory credit has already been taken care in the earlier document (1042020263).

  • Migrate attachments to material or equipment

    Anybody around who has migrated the documents that were attached via GOS (service for objects) to a material master or an equipment from one SAP system to another?
    We are merging SAP systems, and the to be migrated 46c system has some thousand drawings and documents attached to materials and equipments.
    I need to find a way to get these attachments somehow into the ECC6 system. Appreciate ANY help.
    I know the tables for the GOS objects in ECC6, SRBCSBREL has the link between the material and the attachment, but unfortunatly this table is not present in 46c. Anybody knows the table that holds this info in 46c?

    Even I have a similar requirement to migrate vendor master attachment from one purchase organization to another purchase organization. Can anyone help me giving a solution. I need extraction and upload procedures. Otherwise please let me know if there are any other option to do the same by copying the table entries in some tables.

  • Equipment as PRT's during Production Order Confirmation

    Hi Gurus,
    During Production Order confirmation I cannot see whether I have consumed equipments as PRT which are attached to operation.
    The operation is showing CNF status as well the Order.
    How can I see whether which Equipment was used for each operation since there can be more than one equipment as a PRT's for a single operation.

    I use Production Order confirmation hence saw it in CO14 and checked that PRT's are in PRT REL status..I guess this is what you mean to say right??

  • Replicating Characteristic Values of a Material to Equipment

    Hi,
    We are creating a Material Master with Classification View. In this view, we have assigned a Class (Class Type 001) with several Characteristics. Characteristic Values are also assigned to each of these Characteristics.
    We are also creating Equipment Master for the above Material at the time of GR. This Equipment Master has a Class of Class Type 002. But this Class has some Characteristics that are common with the Material Master. The Characteristic Values are also the same.
    Is it possible to automatically populate the Characteristic Values from the Material Master to the Equipment Master for the common ones ?
    (Requirement is to search for Equipment Numbers based on Characteristic Values in the corresponding Material Master. In IH08, we are unable to do this. So is it appropriate to think of assigning the same characteristics in the Equipment Master and assign those characteristic Values? We feel that it is amounting to duplication and prone to mismatch.)

    The values have to be copied when an Equipment Master is created at the time of GR and you are right ... we cannot allow modification of the characteristic values in the Equipment Master independent of the Material Master !! Both has to be in synch for those common characteristics.
    I will also check with our ABAP team to explore enhancement spots in IH08.
    In our case, both the material serial number and the equipment number are kept synchronous. Is there anyway where we can search Serial Numbers based on the Characteristic Values in the corresponding Material Master?

    Could you please help me finding ways of setting up Characteristics at the Material Master which is not  having type as configurable.
    Then based on that if equipments are to be created, then those characteristics to be propagated to equipments also automatically.

    go SMOD enter IHCL0001 set the radio button to documentation and follow the instruction.

  • Can Equipment No same for 2 Equip in different Plants of same company code?

                Please tell me if there is any possibility of having same Equipment No for 2 Equipments in Different Plants.
                The 2 plants are in the Same Company code.
                e.g.  Equip           Plant                Company Code
                   1)  Equip_DIE    Plant1              A
                   2)  Equip_DIE    Plant2              A
               If it is possible how the Equipment histroy and Breakdown history is updated in the PMIS.         
               Also tell me the advantages and Disadvantages of keeping same Equipment no for 2 diiferernt Equipments or otherwise keeping different equipment no.

              Actually I am doing implementation for 5 plants within same Company Code.
              They are geographically distant (say 50km from each Other.)
              The Finish Product is same but the method is different.
              They have already assigned some Equipment Numbers in the Plant for Regular Maintenance Activities.
              Since Planning and Maintenance can be done at the different Plant and team of the MAintenance is different, they dont hv anyproblem if equipment number is same. Otherway they wll have the added advantage that they can continue with there own Equipment no which can be same in differnt Plant.
           e.g 800TONPRESS - Plant1
                800TONPRESS - Plant 2.
