Youtube videos on Firefox do not buffer anymore.

Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
* Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
* Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
* Press "Cmd + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Similar thing is happening to a relative.
He upgraded his iPhone 5 and lost his iCloud account and all his email accounts. Major pain in the neck for a senior. And it was not a user error...unless you count the fact that he hit the upgrade button.

Grey progress bar on boot

My Mac Pro restarted several time last night due to power outages during a storm.
Now when I boot it there is a progess bar under the spining wheel on bootup.
Boot process takes longer then usual as well.
How can I fix this?

Almost seems like it is stuck in a loop of starting to Safe Boot. Try resetting the PRAM and SMC.

I turned on the ipad and plugged it up, when I touched the button on the bottom, it flashed as if the screen was coming up, but instead it scrolled grey and white lines, halfway across the screen and has been doing so for about an hour now. You might connect the iPad to its wall charger for half an hour, to be sure there is enough juice to get started.
That sounds like an internal problem, as you suspect. If you can show it to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a replacement on the spot.
If there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. I do not know how long it would take, or if a "loaner" would be available. Whether they can fix it on site would depend on what the problem is. <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>
One thing you can try is to reset (reboot) the iPad. Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears. Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow. If it works, the iPad will restart after a couple of minutes. Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.

Grey progress bar when booting up loop

When I boot up my computer, the grey progress bar below the apple logo appears. It gets to the very end of the bar and then my computer shuts off. When I turn it on again, the same thing happens. Is there any way to fix this?

Windows doesnt do the same system checks that OS X does, so thats why you wont get the issue witthin Windows.
After you replace the drive, you should be able to put it in an enclosure and then migrate the data over to the new drive.
As far as your Windows partition. You may be able to use Winclone (www.twocanoes.com) to image and restore it. I don't know if it will work though when the drive is connected externally.

Macbook Pro get grey progress bar and shuts down

Hello All,
I have a macbook pro and I faced this issue out of nowhere. After shutting down the system last time, when I started the system, I could hear the apple chime, apple logo appeared with grey progress bar below it. The bar will progress to 1/3 or so and it will disappear and after few seconds laptop will shut down. I tried few times but same things was happening again and again.
After going through few support forums, I booted by pressing D to run the Apple hardware test. It wouldn't do anything at all. Apple hardware test was stuck at pass number: 1 with elapsed time of 7 seconds. All retry were the same as the first one.
I rebooted the laptop and pressed command + R and entered in recovery mode/recovery disk. I clicked on Disk utility and select Macintosh HDD and started disk verification. I got hundreds of errors/warning, saying Missing thread recode (id = XXXXXXX) and it suggested to repair the disk. I tried to repair the disk but after similar message, pop window appeared with message that disk cant be repaired. I exited out of it and went back to recovery menu.
I selected Reinstall OS X Mountain Lion and went through steps and at the point where I have to select my HDD, there was just one option and I couldn't select it. It gave message that This HDD is locked. I can't start in safe mode, and can't reinstall OS X
I believe this is because of my hard drive might have crashed. can anyone help?

It does sound like your having mechanical or other issues with your boot drive.
If your machine is under AppleCare or warranty you can take it to them.
If you can user service your machine, you can opt to try to see if a new drive will work and install it yourself, or have a local geek do it for you.

After waking from sleep, my Macbook Pro shows grey progress bar

I have the mid 2012 Macbook Pro (13 inch). When I leave it open and let it fall asleep after the time I have chose, it wakes up again fine.
But if I choose the sleep from the Apple in the menu bar or SHUT the lid, when I wake it up, it shows the grey progress bars and takes about 3-4 minutes before it is responsive again.
Any advice? I'd just like it to sleep normally. It's a bit embarrassing to have to wait that long if I'm trying to show off how cool my laptop is

This was added to all 2012 model MBPs as part of some bs Euro power saving standard. By default, when on AC power, the system has to sleep for 14400 seconds before this deeper hibernation state happens. When that happens, the system takes a while to resume to normal operation. There is a workaround for this and it is available on this site, but I urge you to call AppleCare and complain about this issue yourself please because without a lot of complaints about it, Apple won't fix it. The workaround is to simply issue a command in a Terminal prompt that disables this option from happening, but it's not a fix by any means.

Problem using a Flash MX 2004 Progress Bar Component within a Movieclip

I'm try to setup a progress bar to show the percentage loaded
of a mp3 audio file using the Flash MX 2004 Progress bar component.
I can get the progress bar to the work normally by the having the
component on the stage (not in a movie clip) with the component set
to:
mode: polled
source loader
with the following actionscript on the layer above:

loader.loadSound("http:/www.mywebsite.co.uk/mymp3.mp3",

But I won't to put the preloader inside a Movie Clip (the
movie clip is called 'content_MC') as the website has alot of
content. When I do this the mp3 file still streams but the Progress
Bar doesn't work.
I think I just need to change the action script so that it
links with the component telling it to calculate the progress of
the audio streaming file.
Am I right? Where am I going wrong?

I found the problem!!
While exploring the Fireworks MX 2004 folder located under
"C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Macromedia\"
folder I discovered that this folder was empty. So, I connected the
old hard drive and investigated the contents of the corresponding
folder on that drive. Discovering the wide assortment of files and
folders in that folder, I simply copied the contents of that folder
to the Fireworks MX 2004 folder and retried running the application
and IT WORKED!

troubleshooting Tool Tips for future reference. I have included the
actions used here which brought about the successful resolution of
this issue so that if you'd like you might include them in any Help
Desk Methods you may have. It was truly a collaborative effort
because I would not have thought to explore the Application Data
folder to resolve this issue without you pointing me in that
direction.

Have you worked through the Troubleshooting iOS and WiFi knowledge base article? If not, see if there is info in there that might help.
Is the WiFi greyed out on all WiFi networks or just the one? If it does this on all then there may be a hardwaer problem that needs attention from the techs at an Apple store genius bar.
Before that, however, try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears and it restarts, ignoring the red slider if it appears. That clears a lot of iOS hang ups that occur.
