Hi,
Thanks for your reply,
I have written a PCR based on the DWS class, since we have shift allowances only for 2nd and 3rd shifts...i have given DWS classes for these two as 2 and 3 and written. And now the issue is, if employees works on OFF day also eligible for the shift allowance....how can continue here?
Since OFF day will have '0' as DWS class, what can be done for this...kindly suggest me with your valuable replies.

Hi Guys,
What is the real use of Shift Group in time management
Hi Guys if i want to connect my sap software with other software to collect data employees Clock in/Clock Out time what will be th e procedure in IMG to connect with subsystem,so that the data would upload in 0050 itHi Surjit,
If the Time Recording system is a SAP certified one then there can be a direct link with our SAP system and this will have to be taken care by ur technical team and the vendor.
If the Time Recording system is not an SAP Certified system then the data has to be downloaded in a falt file and has to be put in the application server and this can be scheduled as a background job so that the time pairs will be moved to IT2011.

Hierarchy of Time Management Terms
Hi Gurus,
I am new to Time Management.
I was going through the Help for Time Management. But very much confused with the terms Work Shcedule, Daily Work Schedule, Personnel Subarea grouping, Personal Work Schedule, Periodic Work Schedule, Break Schedule, Work Schedule Rule etc. I understood each and everyt term. But was unable to establish a hierarchy among them.
Can somebody give a clear picture of this hierarchy.
Thanks,
Sankar.Hello Sankar,
Ok, here you go:
The basic unit in time management to form a time schedule is the Daily work schedule (DWS). This is customized in table T550A. In this table you must set all the parameters that form your schedule. So first you have to define if the schedule is flexible or not and whether it has breaks or not. If it has breaks, you have to customize them first in table T550P and then assign them to your DWS.
After you do this, you have to customize the period work schedules (PWS) in table T551A. These are no other than sequences of DWS. So for example you can have a normal office shift that goes from Mondays to Sundays, with Saturdays and Sundays off, repeated every week. So your PWS will be a sequence of 5 equal DWS plus two DWS with zero working hours for Sat and Sun.
After you do this, you have to customize your DWS rules in table T508A, that are actually a PWS with a starting point. Think of the PWS as a wheel: your shifts are sequences of steps that repeat themselves periodically, like the normal weekly office shifts. But this is not enough to identify what DWS the employee has to do a specific day, since you have to tell the system when exactly to set the starting point for the sequence. You do this by customizing a DWS rule. This is the "object" that you assign to the employee in infotype 0007.
Of course, like many concepts in HR, DWS, PWS, breaks and DWS rules are customized by groupings of employees and / or personnel areas and subareas. I suggest that you take a look at the tables I mentioned to have an idea on how to set these groupings.
Good luck!

Positive & Negative Time Management
Dear Seniors,
What is positive & negative time management? Which time management status do we use for these?
What r time pairs & where can these be configured?
Thx & Regards
WARNED-> No more basic questions please.Hi,
Positive time is plays the total role of workflow. All the processes related to time are automatically gets executed in the background. E.g., in our case it is done only partially to validate the attendance as per punches and other documents with shift timing and generate absence automatically in case of any discrepancy.
.Negative Time (-ve Time) ? Where the all time related activities like validation of the attendance, posting of absence for wage deduction etc are done manually. It has less level of integration among the different components of time management.
Positive Time Management we have two types of recordings:
1. With Clock times - Complete time recording is captured
2. With out Clock times - Only Number of hourse worked is captured
Negative time Management:
1. No clock times and assumed employee is working unless and until his or her absences are entered.

ShyliHi,
To add more on above reply,
Positive time or Negative Time. with or without time evaluation. How many PSA whether all have same type of work schedules, quotas and time management aspects.
Holiday Calendar: Query on Holiday characteristics like, floating holiday, distance to Easter, Movable holiday, Etc.
Holiday class:
Day type: whether particular holiday is paid, unpaid.
Breaks: Variable breaks, fixed breaks, dynamic breaks or overtime breaks.
Daily work schedule: start and end time, core timing.
Period work schedule: rotating shift - how many weeks, daily work schedule for 2nd week. , normal shift
Quota: How many Quotas, Base entitlements, how it has to get deducted?
when it has to get accrued. is there any condition for getting accrued.
How they want to generate the Quota manually or through report.
Please let us know incase you require any further clarification.

Hi All,
i am new to SAP-HR and i need some basic clarifications i searched the forum before posting but i am getting a exactly correct answer that is why i am posting it
why we need time management component?
what is Shift Planning?
What is Work schedule ?
what is time evaluation?
and how these components are integrated in the time management module .
please answer in the very layman language i am confused with the help.sap document.Hi,
why we need time management component?
Employees' time data maintained in Time management is transferred to payroll to calculate employees pay.
what is Shift Planning?
Here you can assign shift times, locations and the number of required employees for the enterprise.
What is Work schedule ?
Work schedule defines the working pattern of the employees.
what is time evaluation?
Employee's time data is valuated in time evaluation. It determines planned working time, overtime, create wage types like overtime or bonus wage types.
Hope it helps. If more clarification needed let me know.

Time management issue -Employees dont have any periodic interval of working
Hi Experts,
We are implementing negative time management for one of the client where there are dynamic work schedules exist.
The employees dont have any periodic interval of working. The off days for employees are also not fixed.(even holiday calender is not fixed)
Currently they have legacy system where time administers (around 35 time admins ) put in DWS and off days for the employees for that month,
and based on that the time administrition happens with the help of time machine. after payroll run happens in legacy system.
what is the SAP solution - for such type of work styles? where dynamic work shcedules are there.
People dont have fixed shifts to work on.
points will be rewarded fully, people who are not sure about their solution - please sorry
Thanks
JayHi,
We had implemented such a scenario for our customer.
For this you have to implement 'OPEN WORK SCHEDULE RULES' which means employee can work at any time throughout the week and can take 'OFF' at any day of the week.
Employee can work from any time in the day to any time he/she wants.
follow the steps below to create the OPen WSR:-
1.Create one DWS with 24 hours as planned working hours.
2. Create the PWS with all 7 days working using the 24 hours DWS.
3. Create the WSR rule using the above PWS.
4. Generate the WSR.
5. Assign to your employees and check it will work.

Please provide the information regarding the key differences between Negative Time Management & Positive Time Management.

What are the limitations of Negative TM?
Can a client opt for both Positive & Negative TM?

Please provide the information regarding the key differences between Negative Time Management & Positive Time Management.
Time Management can be bifurcated types:
1. Positive Time (+ve Time) ? Positive time is plays the total role of workflow. All the processes related to time are automatically gets executed in the background. E.g., in our case it is done only partially to validate the attendance as per punches and other documents with shift timing and generate absence automatically in case of any discrepancy.
2. Negative Time (-ve Time) ? Where the all time related activities like validation of the attendance, posting of absence for wage deduction etc are done manually. It has less level of integration among the different components of time management.
Negative Time Recording:
1. Records time deviations to Planned Working Time
2. Valid deviations include: Absences, Special Absences, On Call Duty, Overtime, Substitutions, Time off in lieu
3. Deviations are manually entered according to type & duration.
Positive Time Recording:
1. Records the attendance time of the employee
2. Records the deviation times of the employee
3. Valid attendances include: Training, Business Trips, Seminars, Overtime.
4. Attendances & deviations can be entered either:
- Front end system
- Manually.
Positive Time Management we have two types of recordings:
1. With Clock times - Complete time recording is captured
2. With out Clock times - Only Number of hourse worked is captured
Negetive time Management:
1. No clock times and assumed employee is working unless and until his or her absences are entered.
How is the process of getting data from time recording system to SAP how can we connect time recording system to SAP? How do we interface for positive time management?
To simplify:
We can consider two independent systems:
1. SAP System which contains Planned Working time
2. Time recorder system which contains the actual timings
Now as Time recorder system will contain all Clock in & Clock outs, the data needs to be uploaded to SAP system either as Scheduled job at back end or online in critical cases.
Based on our Time pair and other IMG settings in SAP System and comparison of IT2011 with IT2000, it generates values of OT,Absences etc etc.
This job can be effectively done in proper coordination with Basis, ABAPers and Time Consultants.
Under what circumstances, we shouldn't recommend for Positive Time Management?
>>>If the company has only salaried employees /exempt empls, where you dont record their OT, DT, etc..
>>>If Company has already another system which records time and can provide just total hours to be paid off in Regular / OT/ DT and also could update quotas
What are the major challenges for the client/end-user in using Positive Time Management?
>>>Integration between 3rd party system and SAP - Interface, logics
>>> Accruals and Quota
What would be the duration required to implement Negative TM?
>>> Few months *
What would be the duration required to implement Positive TM?
>>> Depends on volume diversity you have in time recording. May be between few months to a year.
What are the limitations of Negative TM?
>>> Detailed reporting may not be available in SAP and Posting Timesheets to CO/Billing would out of scope
>>> Also refer to SAP documents and presentation by clients in market place for more details
Can a client opt for both Positive & Negative TM?
>>> Yes you can -
What are the major challenges for the end-user in using Positive Time Management
Hi Seniors,
Can anybody please provide me some data on the same.
Thanks.Hi,
Positive time management is slightly difficult to implement compared to negative time management.
In negative time management, you use planned working times + deviations in time evaluation.
In positive time management, you record actual times through time recording system. You have to bring these times to SAP through an interface and then evaluate the actual times against the planned times and accordingly pay them out. You would need to pay attention regarding the integration between SAP R/3 and time recording system.
Building rules for positive time management is slightly more challenging compared to negative time management.
Kindly go through the below documents on positive time management which will give you more idea about the same.
Integration of Time Recording Terminals with SAP R/3
Determination of First Clock In & Last Clock Out in Positive Time Evaluation
Late Coming, Early Going and Unauthorized absence
Prorated Grant of Absence Quota for Contract Period in Time Evaluation
Splitting of Overtime Hours after X Hours in Time Evaluation
Rounding off Overtime Hours Generated via T510S table in Time Evaluation
Public Holiday Calendar and Work Schedule Rules
I hope these are helpful to you.
Thanks and regards,

Query on Time Management Status
Dear Team,
Scenario:
We have some employees wherein the time evaluation will be evaluated for the status of 9 in Planned Working Time Infotype. After a period of time, these employees will be sent for education and no leaves are entitled. In this case, the time management status will be changed to 0. No time evaluation.
The accrued leaves will still be available for the employee while going to this education for example 20 days.
We have customized a rule, which will carry forward the last year balance to the current year balance on every 1st of the year.
In the above case, if an employee completes his education and returns back in the middle of the year other than the 1st day of the year, in this case, the carry forward of leave is not taking place.
My assumptions:
I would like to know an operation which would query the Previous Day Time Management Status and Current Day Time Management Status. If I can able to do this, if it is YES, the last old previous balance to be carried forward....
Please let me know if any other alternative method.
Thanks and Regards
Team Member.
Edited by: Patlolla Mallikarjun on Apr 26, 2010 8:35 PMHello Mallikarjun,
If you are planning on controlling thru a rule in schema, you can approach this way. Whenever an EE returns from education, change IT0007 time mgmt status to 9 along with additional time indicator say 'ED'. You can query the additional time indicator status in a rule thru the operation 'OUTWPATIND'. Hope this helps your requirement.

Hi all i have doubt in time management
Hi All,
I have a doubt in time management,
Q) If in a enterprise diversified daily work shedule are there, i.e if aemployee is working 4hrs a day & other is working 6 hrs per day, & other is working 1 day a week and the client does not want these many of work shedules.
What advise you give to the client
if any body give the answer
Thanks nad regards
srinivasHi Srinivas,
If your client is persistent of not wanting too many work schedules, Flexible Work Schedule will resolve your issue.
- assign a Flexible workschedule(planned working time is 24 hrs 0:00-24:00) for all these kind of employees.
- I hope you know the effects of Flexible workschedules- Then you need to desing your schema as positive time eval
If your client does not like this idea, as others suggested no essay way ...
Hope this will work.
thanks

Use of TM04 in negative time Management
Dear All,
What is the use of TM04 schema in (-)ve time management. For absence and attendaces we use Factoring and the required parameters for Factoring like TKDIVI or TKSOLL is available from function PARTT (Partial period parameter).
Can u please explain me
Regards
PrasadHi Sowmya,
TM04 is used for -ve Time mgt and is for planned working hours, - ve Time mgt wil capture the any deviations in your work schudule, i.e overtiem, Absence etc,
and Time Mgt satus is reqiurd for the integtration with payroll,
Time mgt staus 9 is for Integration with payroll,
if u use +ve Time actual working hour u use Time Mgt status 1,2
Hope this will give u and idea,
reward points if helpful.

A problem about event-driven and multi-thread ( maybe?)
