TMS Client Specific Job

Dear Guru's
I have a three system landscape DEV,QAS, & PRD. I have configured a consildation route to a target transport group Which passes requests to unit testing client in DEV and the integration testing client in QAS. The delivery route moves requests to two other clients in QAS and the production client.
I want to automatically import requests to DEV Unit testing client and QAS integration client only. I managed to do the first one but if i scehdule a job for QAS it imports all requests into all clients in QAS even the one's on the delivery route??
Can i configure a client specific TMS job..

Hi Mohamed,
This is possible.
Do one thing. Stop the job that is importing transports to QAS system.
Now go to the STMS view for your QAS system. Click on column heading CLNT (Client) and use the filter option. You will get a pop up where you can give the client you want.
Now reschedule the import job using the import all option as you must have done earlier.

Adding system and client specific TMS approval steps

Hello,
In defining QA approval steps, how to define a step which is not system and client wide?
When adding a new step, it is automaticaly defined with * in the client and system fields, and when changing the steps, these fields are not editable. However, there are several approval steps for which a specific system and client are entered, but this was done by a consultant, who was here some years ago.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Did you ever find a solution to this issue. I too have multiple QA systems in our landscape (4 system landscape), and yet I can not defined system/client specific approval procedures in STMS.
The system and client options don't even appear when I go into change mode, yet table TMSQASTEPS has the options available. Direct table update works fine, but it would be nice to know the "SAP standard" way of doing this.

How can configure client specific STMS
For eg;
Development Request from client 100 goes to Client 100 in quality, client 200 from Development200 goes to Qulaity Client 300.
Dev(100) --- Quality(100) -- Production
Dev(200) --- Quality(300) -- Production

How to set up the client-specific consolidation routes

Hi!
I am setting up TMS-functionality in my 2-system landscape (DEV, PRD) and would like to use 2 Clients in the DEV-system (100> Cust and 200> Test).
<b>How can I set up the tranport routes between the Clients 100 and 200 in the same system DEV?</b>
I read, the client-specific consolidation route should be applied in this case?!
(also some parameter settings should be edited, e.g. CTC)

Assign resources client specific

Hi,
I was wondering if there is a possibility to assign resources such amount of Background processes, memory, CPU on client specific basis, saying client 100 can e.g. only use 10 out of 20 background processes and tehre wont block process launched from other clients.

Its system specific. Hence you cannot assign resources such as background jobs individually for a client.

Problem in transporting Variants - "You cant transport client-specific obj"

I am facing a problem while trying to transport variant from DEV to QAS.
When I tried to transport one of the variants (of a program) from DEV to QAS (quality system), it gave me an error that: "You cannot transport client-specific objects".

The program is Not a local object. I am trying to assign the variant to a transport via. SE38->variant->display->utilities->transport request-> request number.
Is there a way to modify this variant from client specific to "non-client-specific".
Also, please let me know hoe do we copy this variant into a new variant which is not client specific (i.e. a global variant).

it is Really Helpful answer to me.I assaigned points to you.i had one requirement this issue like after entering Lead product in sales order, i am able to select dependent products manually.how to make automatically after entering lead products the dependent products replace lead product.
where we can do this customizing to fulfil this unctionality.
In the same way like i am not able to maintain Lead product for Upselling product.can u please tell me how to maintain lead products for Upselling products

A table can be either client-specific (applying only to a single client) or client-independent (applying to all clients in the SAP system).
· Client-independent tables
Client-independent tables contain data of general relevance, for example, SAP system control data, language indicators, and transaction codes.
· Client-specific tables
Data which only applies to one client is stored in client-specific tables. Examples of client-specific tables are tables containing application data, tables containing information about the structure of a company, and, with a limited number of exceptions (for example, language indicators), tables containing basic commercial data.
A table attribute in the Data Dictionary indicates whether a table is client-specific or client-independent (see also "Creating a Table Structure" in the ABAP/4 Dictionary guide). In client-specific tables, the client is always entered in the first key position.

Error generating client-specific objects

Dear all,
while generating environment in maintain operating concern i am getting following error
Message no. KE007
Diagnosis
     The system automatically adjusted operating concern PAPL, or the
     environment of operating concern PAPL was regenerated. An error occurred
     while the system was generating client-specific objects in client 600.
System Response
     Operating concern PAPL cannot be used in client 600.
Procedure
     If this message is contained in the generation log, see the messages
     that occurred before it for details about the error.
     If this message appeared during the automatic adjustment, try to
     generate the environment using the Customizing transaction KEA0.
Activate data structures, generate environment
so i could not generate the environment in development server

Actually the problem is when op.concern was generated in dev.server it was transported to test and production server,but while transporting some request from development my client got dump in development server and so operating concern was changed to transport the requests.Also in old operating concern some characteristics and value fields were added and deleted by user .Now when trying to activate environment (client specific part) it gives above error message.
also we have got reply from sap which is as under:
1)Thanks for the log in details. I was logged in to your system and checked the issue. I found few inconsistencies in the system. Please let me know if you have deleted any characteristic or value fields or if you have done any COPA transports recently.
2)Thanks for the reply, we have changed and deleted characteristicsand value fields. Since we have changed our operating concern PAPL TO PAP1 and then assigned to controlling area PAPL which is not transported
to production server then again we have changed as usual PAPL so we are facing this activation problem .please guide us to solve this problem as early as possible
3)) I am not sure if I can help you resolving the issue as this is purely an inconsistency created by user action. These kinds of issues can be solved only by our remote consulting colleagues. However if you want to restore the old settings you can transport the operating concern through KE3I from your quality or production where the system is working fine.
In test and production my operating concern is working fine ,is it possible to transport request from test or production to development ?
also kindly suggest any other solutions

Well come my dear friend, As a abaper u have to know this.
If u create/predefined a script layout that layout is client specific because layouts are stored in one table that table contains first field as mandt . that why it is client specific. sap prient programs are not client specific. becuse print programs are stored in one table that table is client independent.
Smartforms are client independent because when u activate the smartform it will generate the function module. that function module is stored it in table that table is client independent.

TVARVC(Table of Variant Variables (Client-Specific))

Hi All,
I need to update the TVARVC table with latest Run date in field LOW
When I tried to Update or modify TVARVC in program level it is taking very long time, in back ground it is taking 48 hours ,In foreground it is going to dump.
After that I tried to change the filed value in debug mode, but in this also it is taking too much time and giving dump.
Here what could be the reason to giving dump while in debug mode also.

Is there any way I may set low resources priority for a specific job or even all SQL jobs?
Our database is quite big and everything works OK and very fast, except SQL jobs which are used mainly for maintenance purposes.
I have one specific job which runs for 2 minutes and takes a lot of resources which may affect execution of other stored procedure which should be executed fast.The worst part is that this job has to be executed during the most active working hours. It does
not matter for me how long will it take to execute this job. I just do not want it to use so much resources.
Also I noticed when SQL backup job (takes about 4 minute) is scheduled it also takes a lot of resources and sometimes because of that I am receiving "login timeout" error on my web site.

depending on you sql server version and edition, you can use resource governor and limit the cpu and memory.
in most typical cases , you can use the session user name and times and classify the how much cpu and memory they can use. refer : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645892.aspx
but in your case, the problem seems to be with the maintenance jobs which could run as sql server service account.
also, if the backup are third party tool backup, you can specify the priority level and other options etc to make it less priority.
it is possible to do that even with native backups such as specifying the limiting buffercount, max transfer size, if the server is memory pressured. sometimes, stripping the backups to multiple sets across different devices, could help as well. even though
stripping the backups can introduce another complexity.
may be you need to rethink you back up\recovery strategy.
