When Breeze creates a new meeting room URL, the URL has a
trailing slash at the end of the URL . When accessing the URL, it
it necessary to include the trailing slash in the URL? Would
leaving off the trailing slash cause connection issues?

No, I have never found it to matter. But you can always try

Major crawler issues - removal of trailing slashes from URLs and (seemingly) poor regex implementation

I've been suffering from two issues when setting up a crawl of an intranet website hosted on a proprietary web CMS using SharePoint 2010 Search. The issues are:
1: The crawler appears to remove trailing slashes from the end of URLs.
In other words, it turns http://mysite.local/path/to/page/ into http://mysite.local/path/to/page. The CMS can cope with this as it automatically forwards requests for http://mysite.local/path/to/page to http://mysite.local/path/to/page/ -
but every time it does this it generates a warning in the crawl - one of the "URL was permanently moved" warnings. The URL hasn't been moved, though, the crawler has just failed to record it properly. I've seen a few posts about this in various places,
all of which seem to end without resolution, which is particularly disappointing given that URLs in this format (with a trailing slash) are pretty common. (Microsoft's own main website has a few in links on its homepage - http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/mobile/
for instance).
The upshot of this is that a crawl of the site, which has about 50,000 pages, is generating upwards of 250,000 warnings in the index, all apparently for no reason other than the crawler changes the address of all the pages it crawls? Is there a fix for this?
2: The Regex implementation for crawl rules does not allow you to escape a question mark

here: I've tried and tested escaping a question mark in a url pattern by surrounding it in square brackets in the regex, i.e.: [?] but regardless of doing so, any URL with a question mark in just falls right through the rule. As soon as you remove the 'escaped'
(i.e. seemingly not actually escaped at all) question mark from the rule, and from the test URL pattern, the rule catches, so it'd definitely not escaping it properly using the square brackets. The more typical regex escape pattern (a backslash before the
character in question) doesn't seem to work, either. Plus neither the official documentation on regex patterns I've been able to find, nor the book I've got about SP2010 search, mention escaping characters in SP2010 crawl rule regexes at all. Could it be that
MS have released a regex implementation for matching URL patterns that doesn't account for the fact that ? is a special character in both regex and in URLs?
Now I could just be missing something obvious and would be delighted to be made to look stupid by someone giving me an easy answer that I've missed, but after banging my head against this for a couple of days, I really am coming to the conclusion that Microsoft
have released a regex implementation for a crawler that doesn't work with URL patterns that contain a question mark. If this is indeed the case, then that's pretty bad, isn't it? And we ought to expect a patch of some sort? I believe MS are supporting SP2010
until 2020? (I'd imagine these issues are fixed in 2013 Search, but my client won't be upgrading to that for at least another year or two, if at all).
Both these issues mean that the crawl of my client's website is taking much longer, and generating much more data, than necessary. (I haven't actually managed to get to the end of a full crawl yet because of it... I left one running overnight and I just
hope it has got to the end. Plus the size of the crawl db was 11GB and counting, most of that data being pointless warnings that the crawler appeared to be generating itself because it wasn't recording URLs properly). This generation of pointless mess
is also going to make the index MUCH harder to maintain.
I'm more familiar with maintaining crawls in Google systems which have much better regex implementations - indeed (again, after two days of banging my head against this) I'd almost think that the regex implementation in 2010 search crawl rules was cobbled
together at the last minute just because the Google Search Appliance has one. If so (and if I genuinely haven't missed something obvious - which I really hope I have) I'd say it wasn't worth Microsoft bothering because the one they have released appears to
be entirely unfit for purpose?
I'm sure I'm not the first person to struggle with these problems and I hope there's an answer out there somewhere (that isn't just "upgrade to 2013")?
I should also point out that my client is an organisation with over 3000 staff, so heaven knows how much they are paying MS for their Enterprise Agreement. Plus I pay MS over a grand a year in MSDN sub fees etc, so (unless I'm just being a numpty) I would
expect a higher standard of product than the one I'm having to wrestle with at the moment.

as i know in sharepoint 2010 crawl there is a rule to include or exclude the URL that using '?' characters, if i may know have you implemented the rule?

Exclude complex URLs (URLs that contain question marks (?)). Select this option if you want to exclude URLs that contain parameters that use the question mark (?) notation.
Include all items in this path. Select this option if you want all items in the path to be crawled. If you select this option, you can further refine the inclusion by selecting any combination of the following:
Follow links on the URL without crawling the URL itself. Select this option if you want to crawl links contained within the URL, but not the starting URL itself.
Crawl complex URLs (URLs that contain a question mark (?)). Select this option if you want to crawl URLs that contain parameters that use the question mark (?) notation.

for the trailing slash issue, may i have your latest cumulative update or your sharepoint database number? as i remember there was a fix on SP1 + june update regarding trailing slash, but not quite sure if the symptoms are the same with your environment.
Sharepoint may use sharepoint connector regarding regex, but older regex may not able to have a capability to filter out the parameters so, a modification regarding the trailing slash may happend.

File Share Pod in Meeting Room: File Names Changed by Connect 9?

In Connect 9.1 I create meeting rooms. After I have one "just right" I move it to the My Templates folder, to be used in future as the basis for other meeting rooms. The room that I put in My Templates folder contains a File Share Pod, and in that I uploaded three PDF files (small file size).These PDF files had names like "Course Journal" and "Job Aid".
BUT, when I created a new meeting room based on the template room, the File Share Pod in the new room contained the right number of files, but with names like "/p4cofh5hqse/".
How can I make Connect use my file names instead of the names it assigns?
My alternatives now seem to be two:
- In each of my new rooms, open the File Share Pod and rename each file (if I make 5 rooms, and each has 5 files, you can see this will take a lot of time and wasted energy)
- Don't put files in the original meeting room's File Share Pod. Then upload files into each new room's File Share Pod from either my local machine or from Shared Content or My Content. Again, a lot of work.

It looks like it is taking the name from the URL for the content object. Try uploading the files to your Content library and give them a custom URL, like course_journal and job_aid. Then place those files in the file share pod of the template room and see if it takes the name or the url to the rooms created from it. Maybe not a 100% solution, but may be a good enough work around to save you more pain and effort.
This sounds like a bug to me. Maybe worth reaching out to support to see if they can qualify it as one or identify the root problem causing the issue.

Configure BI 302 redirect without trailing slash.

We have BI installed on a Windows server behind an F5 BigIP LTM. The LTM is handling the SSL communications to the BI pool. When going to https://bi.domain.com/xmlpserver/ everything is fine. Without the trailing slash it is throwing a 302 redirect to a non-ssl location:

If your load balancer is forwarding requests from one port to another, it should also rewrite the port number in Location header fields returned from Web Server. You can check your load balancer's documentation for details on how to configure your load balanacer.
If for some reason it's not possible to correctly configure your load balancer, you can override the port number Web Server will use in redirects by editing the servername attribute in server.xml. In your case, you would specify servername="www.mysite.com:80".

Record multiple, simultaneous sessions through one webinar meeting room

Is there a way to record multiple, simultaneous sessions through one webinar meeting room? I know breakout rooms can't be recorded, but is there another way to have users join a main webinar room, select a sub-room/session they're interested in, and then join that sub-session? We want to have four sessions happening at once and allow users to choose which they want to participate in. We'd also like to record the sessions. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Use PPT, or a tool of your choice, to create a slide/object with links to each room. Then the user can click between the rooms as desired.
You may want to use the ?launcher=false command at the end of the URLs to keep the individuals from having the add-in launched multiple times and in multiple rooms at the same time. This will keep the meetings in the individual's browser.

Captivate demos stuck in Loading state when shared in an Adobe Connect meeting room

We have published several Adobe Captivate demos directly to Adobe Connect content library (using both Captivate 5.5 and 7). The demos work fine when accessed directly using the URL assigned in the Content Library. However, when the demo is shared in a meeting room share pod, it gets stuck in Loading state and nothing is displayed. Trying to understand if this is a bug or if there are certain publishing settings in Captivate that are causing this problem.

Have you looked at the logs on the Connect server (Error or Access) to see if there is something there to help identify the problem?
If you put ?mode=xml after you meeting room, do you get any clues about the problem in the text that shows below the connection error message?
Have you tried the test my computer page to see if there is a problem that can be identified there?

'Could not find the requested node error' when guests join the meeting room

I am working on a program where the owner would allow guests after they knock to enter the meeting room. Upon acceptance, they would also be permitted to publish/subscribe audio.
My ' meeting owner' application code is an adaptation of the Knocking Queue example. The 'owner app' code has the following settings in its creation complete.

The above error is thrown just when the 'guest' is accepted into the meeting room. The guest has not published anything at this point.
The chat part is working fine.

Apply template to current meeting room possible?

I know that you can apply a custom template to a meeting room when it is created...but, what if the rooms are already created. Is there an easy way to go back and apply a custom template that has already been saved in the Shared Templates folder? Going back and recreating all the rooms with the titles and descriptions would be a pain.

This is not possible, as the meeting room only references a template on creation, and holds no ties to it there after.
You will either need to modify the rooms as you use them, or remove them and recreate them using your new template.

New Appointment creation in Meeting Room exception

Dear KMC experts,
I have a problem while creating new appointment in the collaboration room based on template "<b>Meeting Room</b>" on SAP EP KMC SPS 14.
When I fill in all the information about the appointment and click on Send button, an exception occurs and no appointment is set for the "Next Meeting" iView in the main page of the room.
It seems that part of the process works fine because the e-mail with the appointment date of the proposal is sent.
I would really appreciate your help.

          I found the solution for this problem. It is a bug in SP14 that will be fixed in SP15. Also there will be a hotfix available in January 2006 for SP14 if you want to wait. I reported this bug to SAP and they provided me with the solution (hotfix). If you are in a hurry then you might need to open OSS call for this.

Problems making appointments in calendars within meeting room (EP 6.0 SP14)

Please note that I'm getting system error when try to schedule an appointment/meeting in EP 6.0 SP14 meeting room. The emails are sent but a system error is generated in the portal (see log file below)and the appointment is not recorded in the meeting room. Also I get the same error when try to delete an appointment. This only started to happen after we upgraded from SP9 to SP14. We have followed all the post upgrade installation steps mentioned in documentation and
in OSS notes but still the problem persists. The connection with exchange is working fine and we can send emails and check calendars, but not to schedule meetings in meeting room. I found the same problem raised in by someone on SAP Developer Network, but no answer
provided so far. I sent a message to my regional SAP but it seems they don't have any solution as usual. I really appreciated if someone can help me in this regard as so far I'm stuck at this point.

Modifying the Collaboration Meeting Room

Hello,
I am running EP 7.0 (Netweaver 2004s) SPS 9. I copied the meeting room template and created my own version. Then I took that meeting room template and used it to create a test meeting room.
My problem is that now that I have the room, I would like to personalize by putting some sort of graphic in it. I would like to do that in the iview that comes up at the top of the page that identifies the meeting room name. I cannot seem to find where/how to do that. Can I do that at the room level or do I have to do that at the room template level?
Any help would be appreciated as I am a novice without any formal training.

Perhaps, I need to clarify what I am trying to accomplish. I created a room template, then I created a room from that template. It is a meeting room. I am trying to figure out a way to change the roominformationextended iview so that I can include a customized image.
What is the way to do this?

Remove the trailing slash from a folder

My company has several remote sites that rely on documentation I write here at WHQ in order to deploy macs according to company standards. Since these documents are in constant update mode, I wrote a small droplet that I use to just drop the documentation folder on and copy it to the remote site servers overwriting any existing documentation folder.
I have the following piece of code:

The problem I am running into is that when anItem is a folder and converted to a POSIX path, it ends up with a trailing slash, causing cp -r to copy only the contents of the folder and not the folder itself... Is there a way to remove the trailing slash or another conversion method I can use to copy the entire folder?
If I take out the if statement to check for a folder and the -r flag on cp, cp errors out telling me that anItem is a directory and can't be copied, which is to be expected. Ah... how I wish bash could do droplets...

By the way, since the “info for” command is now deprecated, you could as well write your repeat block as follows:

Move edited recording back to meeting room recording folder?

How can I move an edited meeting recording from my content folder back to my meeting room recording folder.
I want to make it accessible to current registrants, plus others who will be registering over the next few weeks. If I just add more "permissions" to the FLV file in my content folder, it won't automatically update permission for the new people who register.

Nope, this is a one way move. Once it is in the Content library, it is disassociated from the Meeting and can't be put back.
You can edit the recordings while they are in the Recordings section of the meeting room though, so you shouldn't have to move them to the Content library if you don't want to.

Location, Capacity information of Meeting Room at Zimbra

Sorry if this is an faq.
I installed my Beehive 2.0 instance, and created a meeting room with BeeKeeper specifying location, Contact, and Capacity information.
However, when I search a meeting room with Zimbra to create new appointment, these information are not displayed although there are corresponding columns.
How can I set Zimbra to show these information?

Hello,
On Zimbra when you create a meeting and you want to add a resource click on "More details"
Then, if you want to add
- a resource type room, click on Find Location.
- a resource type, equipment or other , click on Find Resources
In both cases, use the " % " as wildcard character to make your searches
