Transmission strength of the FM transmitters

Hello,
I've tried out various FM transmitters for my iPod (5th Gen / Video) and the audio clarity seem to be similar for many. I've read reviews of various FM transmitters as well, and it's interesting to read of how writers would say that one sounds better than another.
I wish there was a scientific experiment done with these and other FM transmitters. It would be cool if we had some hard facts as to which of them really have stronger transmission strength, and put the strength down quantitatively. What I mean by this is: For a laboratory to say something like "Based on our FM Transmission Receptor Machine, the DLO Transpod has a transmission strength of XXX units, while the iTrip has a transmission strength of YYY units." All I want is some hard facts/numbers.
I would like to know which of the FM transmitters that are in the market is best.
Is there a way to actually test the transmission strength? Has this already been done? If so, where?

Well, that would be nice and all, it's not very practical. How well the FM transmitter functions is also a function of the type of car stereo, placement of antenna on the car.
The transmission strength, in the U.S., at least, is regulated by the F.C.C. I don't know what the exact output is but it's capped to prevent interference with licensed radio stations.
For lots of good reviews, I'd check out ilounge.com

  • Does the Note 4 have better signal strength than the Note 3?

I have a note 3 that continually drops calls and bounces from 4 bars to 1 bar over the course of time with the phone being stationary.  I believe my problems started with the last software update (as documented in numerous forums) but both Verizon and Samsung give no credibility to problems raised on internet forums.  The people on these forums apparently "lack technical expertise" was my take on their explanation.
So far they, Verizon, is following exactly the same course of action to try to correct my issues as other folks have stated they tried with tech support.  Replacement of the SIM card did nothing.  Software reflash is next followed by a factory reset with no additional apps allowed to download to the phone.
I have not looked at a Note 4 nor do I know anyone that has one so I am reaching out for information.  What is the Note 4 running for software and if you owned a Note 3 previously did you experience signal strength issues where you felt you shouldn't have?  If you had, or have, weak signal strength were you able to compare it to another android phone on the same carrier to see if the problem was specific to you phone?
I understand the bars are not the best indication of signal strength but they are a quick indication.  Under the mobile networks I usually have -100+ dBm and 30 +asu.  If it is a software caused problem neither Verizon or Samsung knows anything about it which is good news because they should be able to correct it.  I have my doubts the people on the forums are the crackpots they make them out to be.  I suggested they are people like me who are desperate for help with a problem Verizon gave up on.
If the Note 4 is better I know what to ask for when they hit the end of the road with me.  That will happen software and reset wise in the next week then I am off to "getting someone else's problem phone" sent to me for a swap.  Last time they tried this the junk phone they sent didn't even recognize the sim card!
Thanks for any facts you can provide about your experience with the Note 3 and Note 4 as related to signal strength in both areas with strong and marginal service.

I have an iPhone 6 on Sprint for work and it stinks, I don't like the service or the phone.  Had an iPhone 5s prior and although I didn't care for it it was still better than the 6.
I had a software reflash done at Best Buy and a factory reset at Wireless world.  Reflash went smooth but I should have done the factory reset myself or had Best Buy do it.  It will take me days to get the phone back to where I had it.  Kies software from Samsung does backup the phone but you lose all the changes you have made to the Home screens and some other apps need attention to get them functional.
Signal strength remains the same but need to use it for a few days to know if it still drops calls and breaks up.  If it does next on the list is running in safe mode for a few days to see if an app is causing it.  If the problem still persists I have the choice of replacing it with insurance, money out of my pocket.  Sending it to Samsung for testing and repair (if necessary), or having Verizon send a replacement refurbished phone.  Probably will go with the refurbished phone and hang on to mine for a few days as well.  If the refurb isn't any better I will return it and then send mine to Samsung.
According to Wireless World the insurance company will pay me for my phone if I trade it in before a year is up.  May get up to 50% of full retail.  Not sure what to trade it in for if I go that route.

Are the other iPods models, same version as yours. The 2 New FM Tx may need a new iPod software, which you can update via iTunes.
    Good Luck!

  • Is it possible to adjust the strength of the bluetooth radio on the iPhone?

    Hi,
I am attempting to use the iPhone bluetooth to control a third party device that also has bluetooth. Unfortunately, when I send an instruction from the iPhone to the device, the device and the iPhone become unpaired and the instruction is lost. I have heard that increasing the strength of the bluetooth signal could fix this problem. How would I go about adjusting the power setting of the bluetooth radio? (battery life is not a concern here). Or is there another way to solve this problem?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Alter the transmission rate of the sendstream

can somebody help me.I need to alter the transmission rate of the AVTransmitter..but i am not able to figure out how...Is it the BitRateControl?...but RTPSessionMgr does not seem to have the control over it.
Or should i create a datasource that implements RateConfigureable interface?...plz help.

The Bus monitor included in the NI-CAN driver 2.1.1 and accessible in MAX doing a right mouse click on the CAN Port has default information included for instance Frame rate, dt min , dt max and total number.
The same information is delivered by the timestamp on every message. but you have to do the calculations by yourself.

  • Transmission direction of the Application Loader

Does anyone know about the transmission direction of the Application Loader? I have read the guide - 'Using Application Loader' and know about the protocols used in this transmission. But as I have to upload my app in a highly secured environment, need to setup my firewall and want to know whether I have transmissions 'from' the Apple when using the application loader...

  • I inadvertedly changed a setting where the top of my screen no longer shows the apple logo in the top left or the clock and wifi status and strength on the top of the screen, how can I get it to show both of these things again like it used to?

I inadvertedly must have changed a setting where the apple logo and files and things that used to be in the top left corner of the screen are no longer there as the clock and wifi status and other installed settings used to show up in the top right hand corner of my screen.  When I move my mouse to the very top of the screen they drop down but when I move my arrow away from the very top of the screen they both disappear again.  So I was wondering how can I get it to revert back to the way it used to be?  I hope this isnt confusing.

I tried the zoom thing but it still didnt resolve my issue   Im gonna try to clarify my issue a little bit more, before the change, my screen when I would surf the web would have the apple logo and safari and file and edit and view buttons at the top left hand of the screen and the upper right hand screen would have the time and the wifi strength and my name and the spotlight box and a volume control but now they dont show while Im browsing the web unless I take my arrow and move it to the very top of the screen then those boxes will drop down like it used to be but when I take my arrow and move it from the top of the screen it disappears again and ll I get is a back and forward arrow and the url input bar.  Anyone else have any ideas of what I did to mess this up?

  • TS3623 I cannot activate my 3rd gn AppleTV due to NetworkTime problems, what is that? I am able to mirror fine. And my network read shows that I am accessing my network, with good signal strength, but the net work time has stopped me cold.

I am able to mirror fine, but that limits me, my wifi extend only to airplay, my ipad, my iphone, but not the store, or netflix Network stats are good, and signal strength excellent, but due to the problem of failing to  set my Network time no activation. I have unplugged and replugged so many times my i need to see a chiropractor. What gives, I have seen this question on the forums but no diffinative answer. HELP!! —Bob

Try a reset or restore if you can get to that.  I found when trying to use a wired ethernet setup (which wouldn't work but that is another story) that I couldn't even get to the menus without the atv3 wanting to connect with apple for the time.  When I went back to wireless, I got the tome sync to let me get to the menus but then an apple rep had me restore or reboot (I forgot which sorry) and then I finally got my wired connection to work.  That is, until tonight and I am having to download the 4 hour update.  Download to what, I don't know.

  • Accurate cell signal strength for the iPhone

Is there a menu somewhere in the menu hierarchy that displays the current signal strength the pone is experiencing, in, say dbm? A typical number would be in the -80 to -90 range...

You can also make it permanently display the decibels. While in field test mode hold down the power button until you see the slide to power off... then hold the home button down until it goes back to the home screen... The decibels will now be displayed where the signal bars used to be. You can switch back and forth between the two just by tapping the signal bar area.

  • All of the fm transmitters doesn't work with my iphone 4

At first i had one of those griffin fm transmitters and it worked fine but after a while it stoped working and the fm transmitter dint turned on anymore i thught it was the fm transmitter was the problem but when i tried a different fm transmitter it did the same thing. help

So the FM transmitter won't turn on at all... and you think the problem is the iPhone?  Is the battery in the FM transmitter flat? If you turn on the transmitter without plugging it into anything can you tune to it on the radio?  What if you plug the FM transmitter into another device? an iPod, CD player... something...
I don't see how the problem can be related to the iPhone in any way. Do headphones work with your iPhone? If so, then the problem is definitely NOT the phone.

  • My MacBook isn't connecting to the Internet. When I try to connect, it shows the signal strength in the top right corner as if it was connected, but the Internet doesn't work. When I go to my network preferences, it says the ip is self-assigned.

My MacBook won't connect to the Internet, but it's connected to my router. When I go to network preferences, it says that it has a self assigned ip address, and can't connect to the Internet. How can I fix this? Please help!

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

  • Is there a way for Verizon to check the strength of the towers?

Over the past month, everyone in our office has experienced low to no reception, regardless of carrier. Nothing has changed in our building to cause this.  It is happening to all phones, not one particular brand. If its not a tower problem, I don't know what else it could be.   It causes batteries to drain more quickly also. Zip code is 28160.

The reception is better outdoors than indoors.  There have not been any
changes to our building, which is only a one level building, or the
surrounding structures and areas.  I use a Motorola Razr M.  However,
others at my location use different phones, such as I-phone 4 and 5, Galaxy
S, etc.  Some even have a different carrier like US Cellular.  Which is why
I was wondering if it could be a tower issue.  Thanks.

  • How do i boost the strength of the signal to reach the remote parts of my house?

how can i boost the strenght of my wifi signal to reach the remote parts of my house?

    Thanks for the info.
The AirPort Express would be a good choice to "extend" the wireless signal.
The best way to do this is locate the Express in the middle of the remote area that needs more coverage and then connect an Ethernet cable from the Express back to the AirPort Extreme.
If you cannot run the wiring, the Express can be configured to extend the signal using wireless only, but things are always "iffy" in this type of setup.  When you do it this way, the Express must be located where it can receive a good wireless signal to be able to extend it.
That would generally be a location about half way between your AirPort Extreme and the general area that needs more wireless signal coverage. The potential problem here is obstructions since each "normal" wall in a home will absorb anywhere from 15-25% of the signal. A ceiling, since it is thicker will absorb even more.
Unfortunately, it's really not possible to say with accuracy whether extending using wireless only will do the job that you want. You could try it that way....but it would be wise to keep Plan B in mind....in case Plan A does not work out.

  • RTP Transmission always lose the last packet

    Hi,
I transmit a audio file through rtp by using the JMFStudio(V 2.1.1e), then capture the rtp packets on the sending port, but the last rtp packet is missing every time.
Several developers of my team tried on their own machine and got the same result.
Did anyone try this before or if anybody can tell me how to solve it?
    Thanks a lot!

    Several thoughts...
If the last "packet" isn't big enough, IE, a full payload worth of data, the underlaying transport mechanism may keep it trapped in the buffer forever. If it sends packets based on a BufferFull event of some sort, then the last packet won't ever be sent because it'll get trapped in the buffer. This is a big problem with TCP sockets, and in that instance, the buffer is flushed automaticlly when a close operation is called on the socket.
I have no idea how you're managing the sending of RTP packets, but that's a possible reason.
Another possible reason would be how you're handling the EndOfMedia event. If you were to, say, stop the entire process down before the final RTP packet got sent out, then you'd also not be getting the last packet sent out. Everything in JMF pretty much spawns a new execution thread, so it's possible the main thread is shutting those other threads down before they're done doing work with calls to whatever.Stop() and whatever.Close()...
Those are just 2 ideas off the top of my head to explain why a last packet may not be sent out...

  • IPhone 4 with iOS5, when I end a call and after sending a text, the data transmission "wheel" at the top next to the 3G icon turns for a few seconds.

This has only started since the IOS5 upgrade.  Also, possibly unrelated, there has been a spam email sent from one of my yahoo email accounts to not only everyone in my contact list, but to anyone I have emailed from my iPhone (including those that I did not store email addy's in the contact list).

green for a few seconds before orange...normal.
normal for several seconds to pass before it indicates on the menu bar it is recharging.
    Reset SMC
    SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.
Mavericks has changed some minor characteristics in how the battery indicator reports, youre right about same.
None of that however is related to the actual charging or discharging of the Macbooks lithium battery.
