Tungsten E--no response to stylus input

Last night my Tungsten E suddenly stopped responding to any input from the stylus.  The device turns on and off via the on/off switch and via the various buttons at the bottom (Contacts, Calendar, etc.), but none of those features "work."  It's as though the touch screen simply doesn't work.
After searching the forums, I've tried the following, with no success:
Running a piece of paper between the screen and bezel to dislodge debris (there wasn't any)
Soft reset
Warm reset
Hard reset
Cursing at it
Note: This behavior started suddenly, as I said above.  I was going to write a freehand note (the little button at the bottom right) and inadvertantly "double-clicked" on the button instead of pushing it just once.  Instantly, it just froze up.
Is this freezing just a coincidence, or did I somehow bugger something up?  More importantly, what (else) can I do to just get my (beloved) device working again?

First of all, are you sure you performed the hard reset correctly??
A hard reset wipes everything off your palm. A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (your stylus, paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.
After that, did you read through this sticky thread? It is at the top of the hardware board for this reason. I hope you find a solution there.

    My iMac has a slow response to keyboard input. Please advise.

    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for response problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
    Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
    Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • No response when Stylus used on face of palm

    This is my first time doing this so I'm not even sure if I'm on the right message board...  last night while 'getting to know my Tungsten E2, a bullseye appeared and I was to practice hitting the center - which I did for several minutes and I could never get out of that site...  so I 'reset' it using the back of the palm.  Now the only thing that will change the progam on the face of the palm is the four buttons across the bottom.  And again - the stylus is not changing anything on the face.  I have turned the power on and off and still nothing has changed.
    Can someone please advise me on what to do?

    Check to see if any grit or dirt is caught between the frame surrounding the screen, and the screen itself.
    Scrape aournd the inner edges with a folded piece of paper or a slice of a business card.  Grit or dirt could be making a "phantom screen press".

  • White screen with no response to any input or hard reset.

    I recently tried using my iPhone, and shortly after using it the screen began to malfunction, it stopped responding to touch, froze entirely, then did some of the normal LCD breaking stuff (strobes of colours, etc).
    it is now stuck on a pure white screen, I cannot get any form of response from it, or even restart it, the entire system has frozen up. After a quick Google I found most people with this problem have dropped their phones in water or another fluid, and checked the water sensor they mentioned, just to see if anyone had dropped it in water and not told me, it does not seem to have been triggered (or even exist on this model from what I saw).
    I am worried about leaving it on overnight as it won't shut down and seems to be putting off a small amount of heat (minuscule amounts). I know Apple have a habit of using batteries that like to go out in style, so I'm hoping this doesn't use on of those batteries.
    Does anyone have any ideas of what could be the cause and any possible solutions? iTunes won't pick the phone up, my PC cannot either, not even in a Linux distribution (and that has picked up many devices Windows won't).
    I would rather not have to send it in to be repaired or replaced as there are files on the phone I need but cannot access thanks to this problem.

    Sorry, never heard of a blue water sensor. I'd plug your phone in to mains, leave it overnight and try again tomorrow.

      I have made a variable for InfoObject 0COSTCENTER(hierarchy) in the query.
      When I run the query in RSRT/ABAP Web and hit the input help, it only takes 2 secs to show all the possible values. But by executing the same query on portal and hit the same input help would take more than 3 mins. Any idea ?? Please help.

    Charlie,
    Check what is the read mode for the variable in the template (can check in the properties), If it is master data then it will go to master data and bring all the data. If it is posted value it will bring the data from infoprovider.

  • OS 10.4.8 Mac Book Pro - Delayed response  to keyboard input

    Often, not long after I start up, I experience a delay between typing or deleting - or anything else from the keyboard - and the response from the screen. Sometimes several seconds. I can cure it by restarting and I often have to several times a day. Doesn't appear to be specific to having a particular application running.
    Any ideas?

    I seem to have solved it. Via 'Menu Meters" i noted that the processor was very busy while I was typing. So I opened Activity Monitor and found that "Caps warn" and 'typeit4me were very busy - as was Mail. So I downloded that latest version of both and all seems to be well.

  • Send button response as keyboard input

    Is there a way to send a button response into the keyboard

    For example I have an onscreen keyboard, designed as buttons,

    Yes there is a way, you need to take a look into listeners

    sent by the keyboard.

  • Stylus input of signature into PDF

    Hi All,
    I am currently creating a form which will be signed by customers on the issue of equipment using a tablet PC. After much messing around I can't seem to find a way to input what I believe is called a "wet signature" (direct signing input) field into the form. Would anyone know how I could acheive this
    Many thanks, Paul

    Hi Paul,
    I have an example here in the Flash Demos: http://assure.ly/rqCuEn. You are looking for the third one down - map with signature. However this is a Dynamic XML Form and uses Flash, so I doubt you will get it working on a Tablet (depends on OS).
    Also there was a discusion here on using the commenting feature: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2686010#2686010.
    You may need to consider what the user will have on the Tablet (Reader/PDF Expert/some other viewer) and then test as to what works).
    Good luck,

  • Slow response from user input

    Hi.
    I have a very strange problem with some of my clients. Sometimes they experience a huge delay between key pressed on keyboard and actual character printed on monitor. So there is a simple text item involved and when the user starts typing the delay could be two or even three seconds between user input (each character) and actual forms displaying it.
    First I suspected network contention but I am not quite sure if there is any network traffic (client browser -> application server) involved while user is typing text into text item. Next I tried to monitor clients machine processes (like anti virus program) but no luck. I have also tried various JRE versions but again no luck.
    I am using 11.1.2.1 version of forms with Mozilla and JRE 1.6.35 on client side.
    Does anybody have/had similar experience? Any suggestion in helping resolving the issue appreciated.
    Also I am really curious what is happening (is there any network traffic involved) while user is typing text into text item where there is no trigger on that item except when_validate_item.
    Best regards.

    Also I am really curious what is happening (is there any network traffic involved) while user is typing text into text item where there is no trigger on that item except when_validate_item.Unless you have implemented a Java Bean on the item to monitor the keystrokes in the field, no events are trigger by the act of typing characters in a field. The act of typing characters in a field occurs completly on the client - no network traffic at this point. Only when a field event occurs (navigation away from the item) will an event occur that would cause network communication between the client and the appilcation server.
    Sometimes they experience a huge delay between key pressed on keyboard and actual character printed on monitor. I encountered something similar to this with a user once who complained about how slow the application ran on their computer. The slowness was intermitant and there was no apparent pattern. Like you, I looked at JRE and other things. Finally, told the user to call me when the slowness occured so I could come look at the computer while it was occuring. Turns out, the user had at least 30+ applications running at the same time. The workstation was running Windows XP with 2gb Ram. Looking at their system resources, there was no memory available and the pc was memory thrashing really bad. I had the user close all but the absolute necessary programs and our Forms application started responding quickly again. After a little user education - miraculously, the slowness problem went away. :)

  • Blank screen at boot. Happened after removing rEFIt. Seems responsive to keyboard input but nothing but black screen.

    Hi, I removed rEFIt and since then I cannot boot. The only thing I get is the startup sound, and after that it is blank/black. I had one random successful boot and I have no idea how that happened. I tried all those hotkey combinations, just to try everything. Like, command+option+p+r and command + r etc.
    It's a 2011 iMac. Hope someone knows what can be done.

    It used to react to the command+option+R+P and reboot, but not any more. Well actually it seems random, some times it works. I would also get some "bleep" sound if I kept spamming keys, but not when it is "not working".
    It shipped with Lion, yes.
    I tried cmd+opt+R now, and I can hear the HD working on something, but since the screen remains black I don't know what is happening. This has also been the case when I pressed and held shift, cmd+R, and various others.
    It really bugs me how random this seems to be.
    I tried to hold options-key to get the startup-menu, no luck. It is as if the display is not activated at all.

  • X230 stylus not working in Photoshop on Windows 8

    I've been using Adobe Photoshop CS6 for several months now, since I got my computer. It worked just fine on Windows 7, the operating system that was on my device. However, after I installed Windows 8 (on a separate hard drive partition), the stylus does not work correctly. I can only paint/erase/edit in any way one pixel at a time, and then Photoshop stops responding to touch input. When I go to use the mouse, it jumps and makes a huge line all the way across the screen to seemingly random points. I realise that I could just switch to the other hard drive to use Photoshop, but that seems like an awfully lot of hassle just to draw. I'm going to try a few more things after posting this, but if anyone else has experienced or found a solution to this problem, I'd like to know.
    System Detalis:
    Model: 3434 CTO
    Operating System: Windows 8
    Screen type: Wide-view 1366x768 Gorilla Glass (the one that supports only stylus input, not multitouch)
    As far as I know, I have all the drivers related to this from Lenovo installed. I'll edit this if I find a solution or some detail I missed about the problem.

    Most of the problems come from the abomination Microsoft calls a browser---Internet Exploder 11.
    IE has always been the problem child of browsers, but 11 has got to be the biggest pile of garbage to come out of Redmond, WA since Vista. They rewrote the "User-Agent Strings", which websites use to identify the browswer and provide the proper content for it, like ActiveX specific things. Some sites now ID it as Gecko (Firefox) while others ID it as Webkit (Chrome or Safari). Problem is, that when the content is adjusted for those User-Agent Strings, it REQUIRES the appropriate browser engine, which IE doesn't have (it uses Trident). EVERYTHING falls apart after that.
    So far, Microsoft has made NO indication that they have any plan to fix it soon.
    Microsoft's recommendation is to use Compatibility View for affected pages, and "pretend" you're using a different browser. Trouble with that is it has seen limited success at best, and you have to individually enable it for EVERY page that has problems.
    I'm not big on "pretending" so I recommend actually using another browser.
    Firefox (from Mozilla)
    Opera (from Opera)
    Safari (from Apple)
    Chrome (from Google)
    ANY of those will work where IE11 won't, with the Flash Player Plug-in (For all other browsers), and Chrome doesn't even need that because it has its own Flash Player plugin built in.

  • In RFc Response no data is coming

    HI All,
    I m doing File to RFC scenario where sender is a file adapter & receiver is the RFC Adapter while request data is coming into the RFC but for response from RFC empty payload is coming..
    pls resolve this problem as early as possible...
    Thanks

    HI Avinash,
    Make sure that your RFC is giving proper response with the input you are trying to send.
    You can Verify this by executing your RFC in Standalone (i.e from se 37).
    Check the Status of you rfc communication channel in RWB if it is green.
    Do the Message Monitoring in RWB.
    Are you using BPM ? (As your Scenario is File to RFC ) or Module.
    Thanks

  • How to generate html-code using csv input with JSP or JAVA???

    Hello,
    I want to read out a .csv-file and generate html-code dynmically with JSP in an EP6 Application. The problem is, that the csv-file can’t be located or openend.
    BTW if every knows a good tutorial or weblog for this, please post the link.
    It’s located in a par-archive under:
    />dist>files
    I tried various methods, in the doContent mehtod or with JSP. Everytime same result.
    Here part of the code I tried in the doContent():
    public class CSV extends AbstractPortalComponent
        public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
            String strWRoot = request.getWebResourcePath();
            String contentCSV="", line="";
            String linesep = System.getProperty("line.separator");
            File fileLoadCSV = new File(strWRoot+"/files/ma_infosysteme.csv");
            boolean exCSV = fileLoadCSV.exists();
            boolean reCSV = fileLoadCSV.canRead();
            int a=0;
            if(exCSV&&reCSV){
                response.write("ok");
                try {
                  BufferedReader inputCSV = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fileLoadCSV));
                  while((line=inputCSV.readLine())!=null){
                    contentCSV=contentCSVlinelinesep;
                    a++;
                  inputCSV.close();
                catch(IOException ioex){
                    System.out.println("Fehler");
            else {
                response.write("not ok");
            response.write("<br>Wroot: "+strWRoot);
            response.write("<br>File: "+fileLoadCSV);
            response.write("<br>exists: "+exCSV);
            response.write("<br>read: "+reCSV);
            response.write("<br>Input: "+contentCSV);
    The Output is:
    not ok
    Wroot: /irj/portalapps/DHTML
    File: \irj\portalapps\DHTML\files\ma_infosysteme.csv
    exists: false
    read: false
    Input:
    So thanks to everyone who can give me a good hint.
    Bye.

    Without really looking too much into this it looks like the problem is with the way in which you are trying to open the file. I believe that when creating a File object you need to use a physical path. By using the getWebResourcePath() method you are retrieving the URL to this file and not the physical path name. There is another method (can't remember the exact name) called getPublicResourcePath() (or something similar) which will return the physical path to this file, i.e. c:\usr\sap\.....etc. If you try it this way it may well work
    I hope this helps

  • Can I configure JDBC Sender to process the RFC response message?

    Dear All,
    We're working on an integration scenario of synchronous messaging from database to RFC. Is there any way to update or insert the record(s) onto the source database according to the BAPI response?
    Any inputs are welcome. Many thanks for your time and support.
    Regards,
    Matthew

    Hi Chun,
    As far as I know you will not be able update the database back based on RFC response in a synchronous way though you have option of selecting BE in sender JDBC adapter.
    This is sentence from SAP training material...
    "In the case of a JDBC sender, the database table is queried via a SELECT statement. The message is by definition asynchronous hence the QoS should be set as EO or EOIO. "
    The only option i can think of is JDBC Sender(async)->BPM->RFC(synch)->response mapping to JDBC receiver structure->JDBC receiver to update the table.
    Also check these threads...
    JDBC source in a Synchronous BAPI call.
