Two sided printing on macbook with hp officejet pro 8500a

I've got a hp officejet pro 8500a printer installed on my mac os x but i cant find the option of automatic 2-sided printing. How to turn on this function/anybody knows ?

Hello OLTO,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer going into sleep mode and not waking up when a print job is sent.
This could possibly be a power issue or in a lot of cases, a lack there of.
Please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest downloading and installing the HP Officejet Pro Firmware
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks for your time.

  • I can't print recto verso with eprint Officejet Pro 8500A

Is it possible to print recto verso via eprint?

    Hello filipv,
Any documents you send to ePrint will print as formatted, so there is no way to print in recto verso unless the document has already been formatted for it before being sent to the printer.

  • Two sided printing on HP with Yosemite no longer available?

Since updating my iMac to the latest Yosemite, (10.10.2) my HP all in one C6280 printer does not even offer the option of two sided printing.  Is there a way to get this feature back? The printer used to do two sided printing, and the option used to come up, but no longer seems to be there.  I read several posts which suggested renaming a preset, but in the preset dialog box, it indicates that this is no longer an option.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

If it's greyed out, it could mean that your device does not support duplex printing under OS X.  One thing you could try if you haven't already is remove the printer entirely then add it back in again.  The drivers that Apple supplies are the latest drivers for this device, there are no full-featured drivers available for this OS version.
Also, verify that you are using the proper steps for manual duplex printing:
    http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-6500A-e-All-in-One-Printer-seri es---E7/4083974/model/4083869/document/c…
If that doesn't work, you could try this two-sided printing application from HP:
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL35975/mp-88750-2/HP_Two-sided_Printi ng.dmg
If the above doesn't work, I think an email to HP support is in order.  I suspect that they dropped support for duplex printing for your device with the later OS versions.  When was the last time you had duplex support?  Was it automatic or manual (i.e. you had to flip pages and print again)?

  • Two-sided printing option greyed-out HP OfficeJet 7500a

    Hi,
Could anyone help me? I just bought a HP OfficeJet 7500a (which does support duplex printing) and I am unable to do two-sided printing as the dropdown menu (located in layout in the print screen) is greyed-out.
Do I require a driver or anything like that?
By the way I am running Mountain Lion Developer Preview if that matters.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Ink/Cartridge issue with my OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus

My OfficeJet Pro 8500A Plus has been drinking color ink.  We rarely print color, as we purchased this unit for its fax/copy capabilities (almost all B&W).   Upon recent replacement of the Cyan and Yellow cartridges, the system refuses to operate.  The status on the Cyan cartridge has a question mark "?" and reads empty.  This is a brand new cartridge.  Upon pulling the cartridge, it clearly has ink in it.  There seems to be a lot of ink build up in the port where the cartridge connects to the printer.
The Yellow cartridge status reads empty with an exclamation point "!".  This is also a new cartridge.  No sign of leakage, when I pulled the cartridge to examine.
What do I need to do to "fix" this situation, as I need the unit to be operational to receive faxes.  If the unit is beyond (my) repair, can you suggest a replacement printer that uses the 940 series of ink cartridges, as I have a small stockpile of them.
    Thanks and Kind Regards,
    Steve

I have the same problem! The 8500A Plus (A910g) won't print after I replaced with a new magenta cartridge.  I get the following message "replace the following depleted ink cartridge to resume printing."  I bought another HP cartridge from best buy and got the same message.  I then took all the cartridges out and noticed at the base of the cartridges slots that it was a pool of redish pinkage ink in all cartridge slots.  It is like the magenta ink port is wide open and depleting the ink within seconds.  What is going on here, a defect in the printer?

  • Printing Envelopes Issue with HP Officejet Pro 8600

I have recently purchased the HP Officejet Pro 8600.  I am upgrading from the Photosmart series.  I use Windows 7 64bit operating system.  I have no error messages
When I print a #10 envelope, the return address in the top left is partially cut off.  I can't seem to adjust the margins to allow for the return address to print.
Additionally I would like to "save" some custom envelope sizes to accommodate my personal greeting card envelopes.  My other printer allowed for more paper sizes than this one does.
Can anyone offer any suggestions with either of these issues?
    Darrell

    Hi there dlfant,
Check out the post here from Travis_C. He has some steps for installing other printer drivers that should give the functionality you are looking for and hopefully address the envelope issue you are experiencing. Give his steps a shot and let us know if it works out for you.
    Best of Luck!

  • Two-sided printing and booklets (HP D2360)

I am trying to do two-sided printing and booklets with an HP DeskJet D2360 printer. I installed on my MacBook the software I downloaded from hp.com. The printer was correctly identified even before I installed its driver.
I am trying to print web pages, ODT documents, and PDFs documents from Preview, either two-sided or as booklets. The booklet printing option appears nowhere, while the two-sided printing option is grayed-out. Both options show up and work properly under Windows XP.

    1. If the form is a oure XFA form then you can control the duplex printing settings in the Master Pages. You may need to define a second Master page that has the duplex printing on for the appropriate pages.
    2. Yes having a checkbox indicate a value in another field is possible but you will need script to do it. On the chanege event of the checkbox you want checked you can add code like this:
    if (this.rawValue == 1){
         numericFieldName.rawValue = 100.00
    } else {
         numericFieldName.rawValue = 0.00;

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A fax reports not printing

I am working with an Officejet Pro 8500A Premium. It works great except for when I need to print fax confirmation sheets or receiving faxes - then I get a message that the printer is out of paper. I do not have problems printing from the computer, a copy or scan. Only the fax function seems to throw the machine off, specifically to the issue of feeding paper from the tray. Anyone have anything they can recommend here?

  • How do i get my nokia n8 to print to my officejet pro 8500a?

    Hello
Can anyone tell me how to get my Nokia N8 mobile phone to print a photo using HP Officejet Pro 8500A?
I have got the wireless connection enabled, but when I select the photo on the phone and click on Print, via Bluetooth connection, the Printer can't be found.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

The Officejet 8500a does not support bluetooth, but you can download an app called HP iPrint Photo and use that, here is a link with information on this app.

  • Error message C00E0060 on my officejet Pro 8500A Premium printer

HI, Error code C00E0060 appears on discplay screen brieflky then change to blank display with the icon lights blinking.  Powering on and off the printer won't do anything.  Can't figure out any solution. I'm not able to use of the printer functions. I'd appreciate any solution you can share me.  Thanks

Welcome ,  I saw your post regarding the problems you are having with your Officejet Pro 8500A premium getting an Error code C00E0060, and I found some information about it.
The error you are describing could be an issue with an ink cartridge or with the printer. To narrow down and determine which is having trouble can you try the following an let me know the results;Remove all of the ink cartridges, does the message change to 'Replace the (K) (C) (M) (Y) Ink Cartridge'?Put only the black ink in,  does the message change to'Replace the (C) (M) (Y) Ink Cartridge'?Remove the black and put only one colour ink in,  does the message change to reflect the change?Remove the colour, and test each one individually.
When you have the ink cartridges removed, you might want to try a hard reset. To do so, leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the back of the printer. While it is unplugged, you can hold down the power button on the printer for about 10-15 seconds to release any built up power. Then plug the printer back in and see if the error goes away. If the error message doesn't change when you do any of the above steps, it would mean that it is a fatal error with hardware, as mentioned in this similar post; Error Code C00E0060. Is the printer connected directly to a wall outlet or is it in a surge protector or a power bar? We want to connect it to a wall outlet just so we can eliminate the power source as the root cause. See this document for more information about Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector (Note: This document is not limited to Laserjet printers.)   Please let me know if these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!   Thanks,

  • What do I do when I get the message my printer is not connected? HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One

What do I do when I get the message my printer is not connected when I want to print wirelessly.? HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One.  I have a macintosh computer using snow leopard.  I have used the printer for 6 months.  Nothing has changed.  I shut off the printer and turned it on.  The internet is working altough I will turn it off and on.  What do I do next?  Thank you.

The easiest and fastest thing for you is to reset the printer to its defaults and then just install the printer again following the instructions in the manual when you received it.  If you don't have these you will find this on the HP web site.

  • Officejet pro 8500A; loses ability to connect to the server

    Hi all,
For the past month or so, my network printer has developed a glitch.  Everytime I or my family sends a document to print, we see the messaging "preparing to print" and the printer never prints!  I ran the printer trouble shooting on my Windows 7 professional and was given the message:  "The printer was unable to connect to the server.  You can connect to the printer to the internet through a proxy server, to do so, touch Enter Proxy and enter details when prompted"
Well, I've never used a proxy.  My printer was working fine till recently.
The only temporary "fix" I could come up with was to shut down the printer and power it back on.  It would go through a checking printheads or cleaning printheads, etc.  Sometimes the "eprint" button would be circled in red. If so, I hit it and asked to retry finding the server.  This usually works.  After all this, I had a small ( 1hour?) window that I could print or scan documents.  After this, the printer develops a case of amnesia and I'm back to square one.
I've downloaded the latest drivers.  Windows updates are current.
This is getting extremely  frustrating.  What the heck is going on???
    Thanks

    Hello @fsh42na,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are experiencing some network issues with your Officejet Pro 8500A.
    I would like to help.
The printers ability to connect to the Web Services server should have no impact on your local network printing.
It sounds to me like you have two separate issues.
Your temporary fix of turning off the printer is a step in the right direction.
When your printer powers back on, it connects with the router. This new connection is what gives you the ability to print.
Since it only lasts for an hour try the following:
Turn off your printer and other network devices.
Unplug the power cord to your router for at least a minute.
plug the power cord back into the router.
Turn on the printer and other network devices.
    Test print.
If you use the Web Services (ePrint) feature on your printer, try setting a manual DNS.
Though the server connection issue will probably get resolved with the network reset, the manual DNS will not hurt anything.
The following reply by happytohelp01, has instructions for setting a manual DNS.
Efax 7510 still won't work after turning off/on ePrint several times
The post is for a Photosmart 7510, but the steps should be very similar.
If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

  • Officejet Pro 8500a ADF doesn't recognize copy after scanning.

I'm running Windows 7 Professional with my Officejet Pro 8500a and after scanning documents using the ADF, the ADF won't make copies.  The ADF document states "original loaded", then I hit the copy button it says "starting copy", but doesn't start.  Any help?  So far, the only thing I can do to get the ADF to copy again is to shut the machine down and start again.
