  • Unable to connect to Oracle Discover Application: ORB Initialization failure

We are running Discoverer 4.1.37 in a DMZ. Some of our internal users receive a "Unable to connect to Oracle Discoverer Application: ORB Initialization failure ..." error when trying to use Discoverer Plus. Our external users are able to connect using Discoverer Plus. We have SSL and Gatekeeper was configured with the machine's IP address (Exterior address), port 443 (exterior port), and exterior proxy address. Networking changes were made to enable users to use one web address instead of two (one for external and one for internal). Also, if I trying to use the machine's IP address in the web address, Discoverer just says "Loading" in the Discoverer Plus status box. If I use the one web address (originally, the external web address), I can log into Discoverer.

Has your datasource got bind successfully. You should check all these things first. If your datasource has not got binded then debug for that.

  • What's the difference between "login block-for X attempts X within X" and "security authentication failure rate X"?

What's the difference between, just for example, "login block-for 100 attempts 15 within 100" and "security authentication failure rate 3"?
Please ignore the numbers, I need to know what the differences are in commands and what they do, what they affect.

security authentication failure rate number_of_failed_attempts : A global configuration mode command used to specify the maximum number of failed attempts (in the range of 2 to 1024) before introducing a 15-second delay
login block-for 100 attempts 15 within 100 : Block all access after 15 failed login attempts within 100 Secs for the period of 100Secounds (1.40 Minutes).
The Cisco IOS Login Enhancements (Login Block) feature allows users to enhance the security of a router by configuring options to automatically block further login attempts when a possible denial-of-service (DoS) attack is detected.
The login block and login delay options introduced by this feature can be configured for Telnet or SSH virtual connections. By enabling this feature, you can slow down "dictionary attacks" by enforcing a "quiet period" if multiple failed connection attempts are detected, thereby protecting the routing device from a type of denial-of-service attack.

  • Unable to connect to app store and iTunes store

so i was just casually browsinh the app store and downloading free apps when the app store suddenly stopped working
it could not search but it shows the top rated apps
and after a few minutes a message pops up saying "unable to connect to app store"
i tried to use iTunes and it also did not work and showed a similar message "unable to connect to iTunes store"
    p.s. i will not update

Everthing works now after 20 minutes
iTunes store was probably down even though it indicates green for up

  • Suddenly I get .... was about to tell you that all day I've had "Unable to connect to ITunes Store" and now I'm connected.  I attribute this sudden success to magic!!!  Hope y'all have the same.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router

  • FDM Workbench and Citrix

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has experienced the installation of the FDM Workbench in Citrix. We're considering using this approach to give our admins access to the tool.
    Thoughts and views welcome.
    Mark

I've seen it used but per the app read me, the use of Citrix for FDM is not supported. So moral of the story, it may work but if you encounter problems, support may not be available.

  • I have updated to Firefox 6 and I cannot get it to make a connection. Error message "unable to connect". Google Chrome and IE work fine. Any thoughts?

Problem loading page. Unable to connect. Suggests a firewall might not let Firefox access internet.

  • Unable to connect to netgear router and internet

I've installed Solaris 10 1/06 (x86) on a system running an intel mainboard model D865PERL. This has a built in ethernet controller ( Intel 82547EI gigabit lan controller) and the mainboard appears on the bigadmin hcl as being supported. The OS recognizes the built-in NIC as e1000g0 but during initial installation it attempts to configure e1000g0 first thing then responds with "skipped interface e1000g0" then proceeds with the installation.
I choose Networked and run through the installation (or following a sys-unconfig) selecting to enable DHCP but it returns "Could not contact a dhcp server on the network interface e1000g0." I then have to set it up staticly to resume the configurator. I specify the e1000g0's ip address as 192.168.0.5 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. I choose not to enable IPv6 (ive tried it with IPv6 enabled) and no Kerberos. I attempt to specify DNS for name service and use my internet providers domain name (both the name and the resolved ip address associated with it) with the two DNS server ip addresses resolved by the WAN setup on the router (Netgear FR328S), selecting no search domains. But it is unable to locate my hostname on the provided DNS's i entered. dunno why it would say that, it really doesn't matter does it? Anyway, I specify no name service to proceed. i choose no to the question in regards to overriding the system's default NFS version 4 domain name to continue.
It knows it has a cable connection but I'm unable to see the router, even though ive specified 192.168.0.1 as the default route (ive also tried setting it to detect the default route on reboot but it fails). The router doesn't see the NIC as a connected device either (im setting here on another computer running xp :() Ive tried disabling the DHCP server feature on the router and I still cant see it. Ive tried setting the NIC's ip address and MAC address as reserved in the LAN setup on the router (this works for my winXP drive where I need a static IP address and also have access to the internet). I've tried leaving the reserved IP address assignment (attached to the NIC's mac address and host name that i specified) with DHCP enabled but I'm still unable to resolve an IP address from the dhcp server. I made sure the router had the latest firmware and went through the configuration with a fine toothed comb, so to speak. nothing seems to work.
I tried to connect directly to the internet device, removing the router and it still fails to resolve an ip address via dhcp. what am i missing here? Ive run through this multiple times now and im at a loss. Ive also referenced sun's System Administration Guide: IP Service to try to resolve the issue but im now all I'm doing is going in circles.

    Couple of suggestions:
Work first on seeing the router, using a static IP and pings.
Forget about DNS, DHCP, etc for now. If you don't see the router, nothing is going to work.
You don't need to reboot or do sys-unconfig every time. Just change your settings using ifconfig and route add. Actually, you don't even need to set the route to be able to ping something inside your subnet.
By your output of ifconfig, it seems that the NIC plumbed correctly.
In the Solaris machine, try pinging your own IP address to make sure it responds and you don't have any issues with the NIC/driver.
Make sure the cable and port in your router work. If you can use them with Windows, you should be able to use them with Solaris. Unless...
Try using a crossover network cable to connect the Solaris computer to the router. This is personal experience: I had a Blade 100 that would not see my router. After a couple of hours of trying just about everything, I used a crossover cable and voila! it worked. Why? I don't know :) , but it worked...

  • Unable to connect to the internet and more

First I have a Linksys WRT5G Wireless Router
I also have a Aol Broadband DSL Connection(They use verizon lines)
I recently had to reinstall a fresh copy of windows and this is where my problems began.
I am now no longer able to simply turn on my computer, open internet explorer and browse the internet.  I now need to open up AOL and sign in, before being able to browse the internet.  This was not the case prior to reinstalling windows.
My second problem is the only way I can connect is if I plug in directly to my modem, and not my router.  If I plug into the router, and try to sign into AOL I get either that no DSL line was detected or no Internet Connection was detected.
I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, and the wireless adapter that comes with it is not compatible with encryption on linksys routuers, so it has always been wired to the router while the other computers on the network are wireless.
I've tried live tech support with both AOL and Linksys to no avail.  Does anyone happen to know what the problem is?

    BAcevedo20!
If you have not resetted the router then go to network connections of the omputer that has the AOL software on it. Right click on the AOL software & click cancel as default. That will make the PPPoE settings on the router to try to connect to your PPPoE sever [modem/ISP].
Regarding your Dell laptop, it is compatible. You just have to know how to configure the Dell utility..

  • Unable to connect router to internet and computer at the same time.

I'm not sure where to start, but here goes. We recently got the internet set up at out new house. Of course, the only connection is downstairs and the computer is upstairs. The guys that set the internet up said we needed a wireless router and I said "Ok, cool."
He gave us a router and a receiver and hooked them both up. (I myself know quite a bit about computers but I figured I'd let him do his job.) So we're all set up and I start playing my game and I get a "Windows has a conflict with another computer on this IP" or something like that. I figured I might as well put some security up on this thing. So I go downstairs and hit the SecureEasySetup (SES from now on) button and come back up here and follow all of the steps and it say's that it's not connected. I run back downstairs and looc for the MAC Address and notice that it was not mentioned as one of the selectable routers.
I figured the guy didn't really install the router, just hooked the internet up into it and plugged it in, and that my reciever picked up someone else's from the neighborhood. So I go and get the CD to install and notice that I have to have the router plugged into the computer AND the internet at the same time for installation to complete. Uhh, that could be a problem. Computer upstairs + router and internet cable downstairs = no go.
So here's my question: What can I do about that? I can't have the computer and the internet hooked up to the router at the same time.
    Thanks to everyone that replies.

First off... don't use the setup CD.
Configure your router by http(ing) to the IP address, log in, and configure that way.  much easier.  typically its http://192.168.1.1
    username admin
    password admin
once you get logged in change that password and Remember it!  If you lose it, you'll have to reset to factory defaults.
    2nd
Change your SSID. Default is "linksys"  you'd be suprised how many people leave the thing as defaults and someone else is using yoru network connection...
    3rd
Add security WPA is better than WEP
    4th
Now go upstairs and look for your new SSID, connect with your WPA code and you should be set.
5th - Not needed but for info...
If you want to go that far... you can change your DHCP set to something like 10.0.10.x but you'll have to manually change the IP of the router to that subnet as well...

My iPad and other devices connect just fine but all of a sudden my MacBook pro just stopped and I've played with the network settings many times.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.
