Unable to connect to iTunes when updating
I have an Ipad that has been working perfectly. However, I have now developed a problem where by when I select update apps I get the message "cannot connect to iTunes". I have tried on 3G and wifi but without success. I have rebooted the iPad and renewed the settings. My wife's iPad works perfectly in the same house as does my iPhone.
Anybody have any ideas?

Re-boot ipad.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. page 128 iPad user manual.
force power down if the above give you trouble.
Hold down both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button. Ten seconds or more. Hold until the Apple logo appears.

Restore to factory settings by loading the latest version of ios that your machine will support:
Do a full backup of your device. Twice is best -- cloud and computer.

There have been several posts tonight with this issue. I would suggest waiting until tomorrow and then try again. There may be an issue with the server you are connecting to.

I'm trying to update to iOS 5 but whenever I do, even after several restarts of my pc, it keeps telling me that I need to check my network / internet connection, which is definitely working as you can see, I'm online now!!
I can't update directly from my iPod Touch (3rd Gen) as there isn't the option for software updates under Settings---->General.
I've got the latest version of iTunes as I only downloaded it tonight (I have no idea why I somehow lost my old version on my pc, but I'd not used it for well over a year so may have removed it in error? But regardless, the latest version has been installed and is working fine as far as sync to iPod etc, but it just won't connect to the internet?
Can anybody tell me what I'm missing here please?

Also the update isn't available in settings unless you're already running iOS 5. -
Says can not connect to iTunes when updating app. Can uninstall and reinstall. Can connect directly to iTunes. Anyone out there who can help me? Apple wants me to pay them for their support because I didn't have a problem in the first 90 days.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

i am unable to restore my iphone 4s " screen showing USB cable arrow showing to connect to iTunes" when i connect to itunes it after asking restore (step 3 without going to step 4) starts updating itunes with no effect to screen which is still showing usb and itunes symbols

trying to install updates available for a number of app on my phon and keep getting the same message "unable to connect to itunes store"............
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Whenever I try to update any apps or download a new one I get the following error message "unable to connect to iTunes". I have reset my iPad and router and also done the same with my iPod but get the same issue.....need some support please?
There are a number of threads from other people reporting the same iTunes connection issue, it looks like there might be a problem at Apple's end - but you could try logging out of your account on the iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if it then works, but it probably won't until Apple's fixed it

I have a 2nd generation iPod touch. I have not updated the software from version 2.2.1. When I connect to iTunes to update to 4.2, I keep getting an error message. Has anyone else had this issue and figured out a way to fix it?

Attempt to restore your iOS device two more times. If the issue is still unresolved, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
