Unbelievably bad service regarding broken MacBook HDD

Hi,
first I want to say that I hope someone from Apple reads this and can help out.
I have always thought that Apple is company with superb service and support making it as easy as possible for it's loyal customers.
Here's the story:
Around christmas time the HDD broke in my MB.
Humac who serves Apple products in Denmark told me that the service would take approx. 10 days.
As I use it a lot it was too long to be without a computer, even if 10 days is reasonable. So I went and bought a new HDD the same day from the shop and tried to install it, to solve everything quickly. It wasn't as easy as I had thought.
The rubber sliders came out together with the broken HDD, probably the glue was to weak for the heat inside the computer..
After trying for hours to put the HDD in the slot together with the rubber I simply gave up. I walked with the computer to Humac and told them to fix it. It annoyed me a little since I knew it would cost more to just install the HDD than the drive had cost itself, just because of bad rubber glue..
Well, then one day this article appeared all over the net:

And this is the most important part:
"Some customers may have paid for out of warranty repairs that qualify under this program. Apple will contact affected customers with details on the reimbursement process."
I was really happy to get some of the money back, but no....
I called Humac, and asked how to proceed to get a refund. They answered me that according to their database, they have not repaired any HDD on my MB, and sort of they where right in that.. But after explaining that I have the broken HDD right next to me, he said that I could come down with it together with the computer to get it all sorted out.
I got to the shop together with my MB and the HDD, and couldn't get to talk with the repair guys, just the sales desk.
I told the story once again, and wanted to leave the 120GB HDD with even a Mac logo printed there, so that they could check that it's faulty. But NO again.
I'm informed that I would have to leave it together with my computer, again for a week!!! Even if the computer now is fixed and fully working?!?!
I really have a hard time believing that a company as big as Apple don't have the tools to test a hard-drive without the users computer.
My point is that I just think the whole thing is insane.
At this point it's not more about money, more about what I'm going to think about the companys (In this case Humac, who are authorized by Apple) service level in the future..

You have not been dealing with Apple directly, so this really isn't an Apple customer service failure per se. You've been dealing with an independent company with whom Apple contracts for certain repair services. While Apple attempts to provide stringent guidelines for the behavior of these independent companies, Apple has no direct control over them.
I would first suggest that you contact Humac and insist on speaking to a manager. Then explain the situation to him/her and see if a resolution can be found.
If you can obtain no satisfaction from Human, you can call Apple via their tech support number and ask to speak with a customer relations representative. Then explain the situation to that person and see if they can work with Humac to solve the issue. Note, though, that since you attempted to replace the drive yourself, that complicates matters. Whether or not you can qualify for a reimbursement in this circumstance I don't know.

    its been more than 15 days and the service center told me that i'll have my mobile after 15 days. now i'm losing my temper , no clear solution is provided to me and still i have no info about the application they have sent. this my message to aware all about the bad services provided to me by (don't know personally i.e service center/customer care/sony india). this is clear warning if i doesn't have my mobile within 7 days, i'm gonna complaint to consumer court.

  • Macbook HDD reset after repair. Will autosync wipe iPod?

    My girlfriend's Macbook just got back from being repaired from Apple due to a broken iSight.
    In the process of her repair Apple wipe her harddrive clean and consequently her iTunes library was lost. She has all of her music on her iPod, but her iPod settings were set to autosync the iPod when she connects it to the Macbook.
    I hope to use some software to take the music off her iPod back onto the Macbook HDD, but my fear is that when I connect the iPod iTunes will automatically lauch, try to sync and then wipe her iPod clean.
    Is there a way to make sure this doesn't happen so she doesn't lose all of her music?

  • Uninstalling from a broken macbook

    Hi,
    First off very disappointing services from adobe, just trying to call the technical support and no matter what option I chose on their 4 year long automated voice help the reply was just "no help available on the phone go online".
    Its 2 part question, firstly is it possible to deactivate adobe creative suite 5.5 from a broken macbook, it is completely dead and I cannot access it in any way will be selling it for spares or repairs; obviously though I want to get that software onto another machine.
    Secondly does the adobe creative suite 5.5 premium student and teacher edition for mac have 2 available downloads does anyone know? This is if my 1st question has no solution, but I cannot see anything about 2 downloads on the box it came with.

    I have bought a all in one 23 F210ED in august last year.
    I never changed anything in it.
    Now i get when i install the recovery from HP, that i am not activated ?
    I called HP for it, and everytime they will call me back, what they do not do.
    So i to call HP  myself several times it costs me 0,10 euro cent per minute the amounbt is now already over 30 euro !
    And every time they have to ask another collague abou it, pleae wait etc.
    And finally because HP was not calling back everytime what they promised , with a solution.
    I called Microsoft myself and they said . HP is using a oem version of windows 8, they have to make it work.
    But after pushing from my side, they did the activation by phone.
    And i have now a contact person with MS that will do that for me when i call him.
    But this is not the way normally he said.
    HP has to get the solution to this problem.
    Like a new key.
    But you allready understand i do not get a new key from HP.
    Because they blame it on MS.
    So now my money is gone, and i still have to call MS to activate it.
    Custumer service finally called me on the phone after a letter i wrote to HP Netherlands.
    And pointed me out to the warranty rules.
    Yeah right.
    Bad bad service from HP.
    For me never again HP.

    Not really. You have to look at things.
    System requirements | Photoshop to start with. See how your Macbook measures up
    Verify your disk and Repair Permissions with disk utility.
    Be sure you are updated to 2014.2.2
    Then see if there are bad fonts or third party plugins.

    Hi,
    I'm helping someone with a Macbook Pro 2010-11. It worked for a few years but eventually degraded last month when it wouldn't go 10 minutes without displaying the rainbow loading ball. Possibly a hard drive problem.
    The owner never backed any of the computer up. I am trying to salvage their data before it's lost. The computer can power on. I have been turning the computer on and salvaging most of the data from numerous trips with USBs until it crashes, and then moving on to Target Disk Mode. The computer turns on slowly, displays the rainbow ball every minute or so, and never finishes copying or exporting anything. It still seems to be degrading.
    I still need two things: One is a large folder with thousands of old OUTLOOK e-mails created on an old PC (which the owner no longer has).
    Second is the folder/autobackup where OUTLOOK for Mac stores all the e-mails and settings.
    I have found the folder -- I think it is the Main Identity or Office Identities. Am I correct? Will this bring back OUTLOOK on the newer Macbook Pro exactly like on the old one? I also know where the old e-mails folder is, but when I try to transfer either folder through Target Disk Mode on the newer Macbook Pro, it stops and gives me the "Some data in _____.olk14msgsource could not be read or written." AKA error code -36, halfway through the transfer.
    I have tried exporting OUTLOOK on the broken Macbook Pro to a .olm, but it gets stuck halfway and gets stuck back on the rainbow ball. Then I shut the computer off. I have also tried going into the folders through target disk mode and deleting the .olk14msgsource files that are problematic, but there are too many of them.
    Please help! The owner needs these files and OUTLOOK exactly like it was!

    Few thoughts:
    There is a minuscule possibility that you can successfully convince the Genius that the damage was not due to abuse or mishandling. And if it is still under warranty, a new free screen will be yours. Don't get your hopes up too high, though...
    If a Retina, the cost will be so high that maybe selling it for parts and getting a new one might be a better idea.
    Same may apply if it is very old. Not cause the screen costs arm+leg, but because you will be sinking lots of cash onto a sinking ship.
