UVerse Support Call Running Diary

So after about 2 years of having no real issues other than an occasional reset of my gateway, an installer rewired my entire house a couple months ago.  He removed all the coaxial wiring and switched everything over to ethernet (cool with me).  He also moved the gateway upstairs (it was in the basement) and replaced all my TV boxes with wireless boxes.  Again, I'm cool with it all. The service started randomly resetting approximately 4 times per day.  I work out of my home over a VPN so losing my service gets pretty aggravating.  I ended up having them back at my house 2 more times over the next couple weeks and every technician would tell me that there was nothing wrong with my connection and they couldn't explain why it was resetting.  Interesting how the resets stopped happening after the last visit, but I digress. Fast forward to Thursday (7/23/15) and I notice my wi-fi is really slow.  Wired connections appear to work but wi-fi is almost nonexistent.  I talked with online support on Thursday night and explained to him that I only seem to be able to connect if I used a wired connection and his suggestion was to navigate to their speed test site.  Nevermind that I e-mailed him the tracert and ping statistics that showed > 3000ms over wifi and around 40ms on wired.  I played along and navigated to his speedtest, both on a wired and wifi connection. I tested at 12.5 mbps down on the wired connection, which didn't thrill me because I pay for 18 mbps, and on the wifi connection, the page load finally timed out after about 10 minutes.  At that point he seemed to understand that the issue was only over wifi and said we needed to make a service appointment.  I told him I'd be gone last weekend so it had to be made for Monday (today).  No problem.  We made an appointment for between 8:30 AM and 12:30 PM.  Even though the appointment is during today's first appointment window, I fully expected them to show up at the end of the time block, based on past experience. I have now received two automated phone calls from AT&T:10:08 AM - "This is to notify you that our technician should arrive at or around 12:00 noon.  If you've already been contacted by a technician, please disregard." 12:08 PM - "This is to notify you that our technician will not be able to arrive by 12:00 (notice that the call came in after noon).  We expect a technician to arrive at or around 2:00 PM.  If you've already been contacted by a technician, please disregard."  Now, let me just say this.  I've noticed AT&T making an effort to improve their customer service.  They are light years beyond Time Warner in that sense, which is one of the reasons I stick with UVerse even with all the recent service issues.  However, continuing to send automated messages to your customers and habitually showing up late for appointments makes the company look like they are out of touch and don't care about their customers.  What if I worked out of an office instead of at home and had told them I would be in after lunch?  I would now have to change my entire day because a technician can't make it to my house within a 4 hour timeframe. Why am I posting this here?  Who knows?  Maybe this actually feels like somebody might see it as opposed to sitting on hold for hours on end waiting for somebody to walk me through a script that doesn't help me anyway. I wish Google Fiber would come to Milwaukee.

 I changed the default network SSID and password a couple months ago but haven't touched anything on the gateway since.  This wifi issue just started happening Thursday morning.  FYI, I just did a wired speed test and I'm getting 21 mbps down so that's looking good again.

    Which version of Firefox are you using?
    Maybe you use older version Firefox or have some other program which uses that library.

    Do you mean that you were using the Apple ID which is your ex-MobileMe address? It's still an Apple ID, even though MobileMe itself is dead, and there's nothing to stop you from using it as an ID with Support, or logging in here or in iTunes with it. You should make sure you have a functioning non-Apple email address associated with it.
    Did you migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud before 1 August last? If so, you can set up an iCloud account using it, or if you have already set up a new and separate iCloud account you can still log in with it in System Preferences>Mail, Contacts and Calendars so that it runs alongside your iCloud account.
    If you didn't migrate you can still reactivate the address the same way.
    Anything where you've logged in with the ex-MobileMe address, such as support for something you registered using it or a server such as iTunes, will need to continue using it.

    wow, i'm so devastated over my upgrade from a centro to a pre.  first, i've been a diehard palm user since 1996.  had most models of the treo phone over those years and several different models of palm organizers.
    i just got off the phone from a 4 hour support call while they were trying to get my palm data transferred to the palm pre on a windows xp pro system.  the process was agonizing to say the least (for both myself and the poor tech support people).  we finally were able to transfer the data from the four main apps, calendar, memos, tasks and contacts without losing too many files.  some, but not many.
    after all that i felt at least relieved that it was over.  but what???  i went to open up the four apps to verify my data and find that palm found it necessary to remove the ability to have categories in those core apps.  so now all my work and personal data are forever mixed.  i have a lot of memos and contacts since i use it for both business and personal.  each time i open memos i have to wait 8 seconds for all memos to load.  there's no different views so i have to try and read the tiny print on each little sticky note to find the information i'm looking for and since all categories are now mixed as one, it's a very long and intensive process to try and find data.  my finger is doing so much swiping i'll be tearing through screen protectors every month!  it's like someone took all the folders out of my filing cabinet and threw all the contents on the floor, scooped it all up, put it back in the filing cabinet without the folders.
    palm, i'm so sorry it has to end like this.  you were the company that stepped up and organized my life better than Franklin did with their paper organizer.  but now you kind of lost your path and are making decisions that are going backwards in efficiency.
    it looks like this new palm pre will be a little gift for my niece to watch youtube on.

    An engineer and I contacted Adobe technical support by phone to ensure the PC I was having custom built was configured to its optimum. They advised XP64 as the best operating environment. After that discussion we had to completely revise procurement, etc to get the bits and compatible XP64 compatible software, putting the build project back a few weeks as well, Imagine how I laughed when I found out on one of these forums that XP64 is the worst choice and totally unsupported by CS4!
    I have written to Shantanu Narayen, Adobe CEO and didn't even get an acknowledgement I raised this last week on the Adobe stand at BVE and was told they'd get someone to contact me asap but guess what, niet...! To be fair there has been one Adobe executive that recognises the problem and the damage poor customer support is causing the company; he has been as helpful as he can. Unfortunately, it seems the overall Adobe culture at the top is "get the money and run". If your problem goes beyond what's already on their web pages, tough luck!

  • Phone no longer can send / receive picture messages after "support" call

    Hoping someone can help.
    A few weeks ago my phone was having intermittent problems sending picture messages (text are fine). I would sometimes have to retry several times for it to go through, but I could always get it to go through. I have a LG VX9400, btw.
    Since it did not resolve itself I decided to place a support call. During that call the technician did "nothing", but after he had me dial *228 option 1 I can no longer send messages at ALL! I was then told I needed a software upgrade or could not be helped further. Now I've received the software update and it still does not work. It has been escalated to engineering and closed (without contacting me) and has been attributed to my phone, but nobody can tell me how they came to this resolution.
    I have had this problem in the past where it's been on the Verizon network the configuration has to be changed (there have even been blocks that I've never put on there), but nobody is willing to dig into this and says I now have to reflash, hard reset my phone or get another one.
    Also note, mobile web even for account management doesn't work (I did have blocks, have since taken them off so not sure if I have to wait). It also seems I am getting a message receipt failed when I turn my phone off and on, again I only noticed this after calling support.
    Any help / suggestions / etc greatly appreciated as I really don't think it's my phone since it was working (albeit intermittent) prior to the "support" I received from Verizon.

    It's very upsetting having picture messaging issues, especially after calling in to technical support and not getting the issue resolved. Let's get this worked on right away.
    Have you tried deleting the old text and picture messages and retrying? Please also remove and reinsert the battery and retest.
    Does this happen everywhere or just one location? After the software upgrade did they hard reset the device?
    Hard reset instructions:
    From the main screen, press Menu.
    Scroll to Settings & Tools.
    Scroll to Phone Settings, press OK.
    Scroll to Security, press OK.
    Enter Lock Code ???? displays,
    enter the 4 digit lock code ( default: last 4 digits of phone number ).
    Scroll to Reset Default, press OK.
    Reset Default - Preference Settings will be set to factory defaults. Press <OK> to continue. displays, press OK.
    Scroll to Revert, press OK

  • How do I log a support call for Pages with Apple?

    Hello,
    Sorry to have to ask this question here because I suspect it has been covered and I'm searching wrong. Anyway I'm on the Apple support site trying to log a call for some erratic behaviour when Pages tries to sync with iCloud. It seems that no matter what I end up having to enter the serial number of my hardware. Well first off this is a software issue and not a hardware issue - I've been to the Genius Bar and they believe it is Pages failing to sync with the iCloud. I have had both the iPad and the iPhone replaced during the issue and still the same problem. Secondly I have two devices affected by the same Pages behaviour
    Ok so after going around in circles for quite some time and becoming quite frustrated I thought I would come here for some sane suggestions. The first of which I fully expect to be an explanation of how to log a software support call Is there anyone out there who can advise me on how to log my issue please?

    run() is just a method...
    you need new Thread object to start a new thread...
    you can pass any Runnable object ( any class that implements the Runnable interface ) and when the start() method is called, the code in the Runnable's run() method will be executed in that new thread...
    btw, you can always try calling the run() method an see the results...

    I think the problem is caused by differenet drivers for the CAN communication.
    NI provides two driver for CAN: NI-CAN and NI-XNET.
    NI-CAN is the outdated driver which is not longer used by new hardware. NI replaced the NI-CAN driver with NI-XNET some years ago, which supports CAN, LIN and the FLEXRAY communication protocol.

    I'm not 100% sure but you could check whether af:document uncommittedDataWarning property is set to true. If so, try setting it to false.

    Well it's been a long process, but to make things short:
    I called support to get help in recovering lost itunes music on emac running panther. The support folks were easily able to locate the purchased music which also included some movies and TV shows (son's computer). we were able to initiate the downloads, however part way through the process I noted that the drive on the emac would probably fill up, and it did. The emac has a external drive. I want to move the itunes music folder to the external drive, which I probably should have done first.
    So now is it possible to move the itunes music folder to the external drive and then continue the restoration and how would this be done, precisely. I have searched and read a few articles on this process and I was confused by giving a iTunes Music folder path to "whatever new location you want your iTunes media files to be stored in". If I get into this will the computer prompt me and show the external drive as a possible new location of the folder, or do I need to enter the new location and what would the new path look like in words?
