Video on Touch has bad ghosting

Hi All, This only occurred after I upgraded to update 1.1.2, so I'm assuming its the culprit. All of my videos (MPeg4) now play with really bad ghosting almost like a viewing a negative photo with reverse colours appearing instead of the correct ones.
I've had a look around the Touch's Setting menu and can't see anything there, had a quick search here in the Touch Discussions and couldn't find anything, has anyone come across this?

I have had the same problem with my iPod touch 16Gb. The video ghosting only started after the software update. I reset the iPod and it seemed ok. It has, however, returned several times and is now starting to really annoy me.
The problem occurs when playing videos, You Tube and embedded quicktime movies in Safari. What actually induces the issue (iPod usage pattern, etc - not the update software), though, I have no idea.
Next time it happens, I am taking it in to the reseller I bought it from and having it looked at.
Paired with this is a rather annoying audio issue, where the sound distorts, even at low volume levels, with Apple earphones or Sony noise cancelling earphones and with good quality rips (160 kbps), that sound fine on my older iPod (60Gb).
A great device, but somewhat hampered by these issues!

Ipod touch has bad battery and suddenly turns off but only works when its on a dock with speaker...
any advice on what to do, because i am thining of getting the battery replace

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My 3rd generation ipod touch is acting like it has a ghost.  when it is sitting there the screen flips between pages, letters and commands are input on their own.

All of a sudden, my iPod Touch has developed a mind of its own.  When it is on, but I am not actively manipulating it, it acts like I have swiped the screen or entered characters on the keyboard, or activated an app.  It is as if the screen is picking up capacitive input but my fingers aren't touching it.  It happens in all apps or just on the home screen, whether I'm holding the iPod or it is just sitting on a table.  I have turned it off, restored the software, but the problem seems to be getting worse.

I use my Ipod Touch all the time for work I am a struggling truck driver and Thursday 4-28-11 my ipod started doing this I cant even listen to music on it I am 8 hours from an Apple store so that is not an option for me its like its going in to apps and has actually sent emails it types and just does what it wants to do my wife bought this for me as a gift last FEb(2/2010) so it is not even under warranty anymore I don't know what to do i have tried restoreing it 2 or 3 times if anyone can please help me

  • How do I get apple to fix my MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) screen, which has always ghosted?

Since I bought my MacBook (mid-2012) the screen has had ghosting problems. Like, since day 0. At first it wasn't really a problem. I wasn't doing graphical work; I didn't need "pixel perfect." But, then I started needing to spend time in Photoshop again. The ghosting made it a frustrating and error-prone process.
My screen ghosts in about 30 seconds of being on the same image for any visible region. So, basically, if if I work at zoom 100% for 30 seconds, using the brush for a few quick strokes, then zoom in, I have to wait another 30 seconds for the false-shadows and hues to go away. It was unusable. I was busy, so I just started doing graphical work on my linux workstation with Gimp. I was too busy to get it repaired.
Finally, a year or so ago when I had some time, I brought my computer into the Apple store. I told them of my ghosting issue, along with an odd sound from the fan when the CPU was pegged. They held it overnight. They claimed they did some diagnostics and cleaned the fan. I thought, well, I don't think that will fix anything, but I signed off. The Applestore staff are very friendly. It's difficult to say, "wait, no -- this is ****** up," to them.
Of course, that fixed nothing. Why would it? I went back to being busy. Then, recently, I had more time again. I brought my laptop into the store. Since Apple had just issued a notice about my year's laptop having graphics issues, I thought, "finally, they understand there is a problem!" They took my computer and shipped it out to Texas, aware of not only the random buffer-level (graphics card) pixelation, but also about the ghosting. It came back with a new logic board and heat sink. Again, this didn't seem likely to fix it, but I didn't object at the store. They were so friendly there.
I bring it home. Unsurprisingly, the ghosting issue was unresolved. This fantastic retna screen is functionally useless for me when doing graphical work. On my Apple. A computer that lauds the creative power of graphical designers. Really?
In no world this okay (see video) for an Apple product that I spent several thousands of dollars on, with the expectation that I could do graphical work. The challenge I heard both times from Apple employees -- "how long were you on the same screen" -- is an utterly absurd question. The video answers it -- about 30 seconds. But, in any case, you can't bill this as a high resolution screen for graphical designers and artists with this problem. We spend time on single screens, fussing over single pixels for hours.
I'm willing to assume that my screen was oddly defective. And, that this was not indicative of a common fault in this particular model. But, it demands resolution. The screen needs to be replaced. I'm tired of explaining that to the Apple store.

  • I received an ipod touch 5th gen for Christmas.  The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my touch have created ghost songs.  They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play.  I can't delete them

The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my new touch have created ghost songs.  They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play.  I can't delete them.  I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod.  It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?
I had no problems with my ipod touch 4th, which I had for years.   Any help would be great.

The missing apps could have been done by setting the Restrictions that can hid those apps. If the backup was made with those retrictions set the the Restrictions are also restored.
Thus, if you get it to work restore to factory settings/new iPod, not from backup

My Ipod Touch has been frozen for almost two weeks now. I have truning it off by useing the sleep and top button and it is still not working. I have been pluging it in my laptop and it is sycning but still did noting. What should I do?

It seems as your iOS Software Is most likely corrupt. Try doing a software restore in iTunes by clicking in your iPod and clicking the Restore button. This will restore your iPod to factory settings. So back up your Music, Videos, and purchases before restoring.

  • An ipod touch has gone missing

my daughter's touch has gone missing and i wanted to know what my options were, if any to get pictures and music back; and/or options to see if the device is being used.  I have the serial number
    thanks

    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

  • Bad ghosting / image retention on X240

I bought an X240 a week or two ago and for the first time noticed that it has very bad ghosting (also known as image retention or burn-in), especially on the edges of the screen.  See linked pictures below (easier to see if you zoom out, but the checkerboard pattern impossible to miss from any zoom).
Image 1: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6625784/ghost1.jpg (this shows a ghosted tab from my Chrome browser, which stayed on the screen for about 10 minutes. It is MUCH more noticeable in person--the fact that I was even able to capture it in a picture shows how bad it is in person).
Image 2: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6625784/ghost4.jpg (this is a picture I took after running the image retention test at http://www.marco.org/rmbp-irtest.html.  You can see a checkerboard pattern across the screen which is ESPECIALLY bad at the screen edges).
I have read that image retention issues get worse with time... and this laptop is only about 2 weeks old!
Any thoughts or advice, other than trying to return or exchange it?
Moderator note: broken image test link fixed.

FHD LCD on the X240? It will get slightly worse few weeks into the usage. You can try returning it, but i think there is a good chance that this is an unavoidable issue.
