Web server only accessible via intranet lan.. help!

This is really making me nuts, and my brain is dry at the moment. I have reinstalled my Leopard Server twice, and I don't manage to solve this. It was working before upgrading to Leopard, so I don't know what the catch is.
I set up a couple of websites via SA, as always. And I can only access them from our internal network (192.168.1.100, the server's IP) and from our fixed IP address (80.39.112.16) only when we are in the same lan. If you open 80.39.112.16 or the domain name www.i-publishingservices.com, DNS hosted at Network Solutions, it does not open.
It is not a firewall issue (I have all web ports open and it does not work with the firewall deactivated either) and I don't think it is a router thing, as it was working before. The router has NAT translation on, and serving all ports to 192.168.1.100, the server's internal IP.
Any ideas? Maybe it has to do with our internal DNS? We've never used the DNS service...Maybe there should be a www user in the Workgroup Manager? I am really lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Chema.

If appears there is a Leopard Server firewall here, and a second and outboard and NAT-capable firewall here, but only the configuration of the latter is mentioned. Anything interesting in the Leopard Server firewall logs?
If this is dual-NIC box (eg: an up-rated Mac Pro box or an Xserve), this could easily be a local IP configuration issue on the box.
As for some additional tests, here are the classics:
dig -x ipaddr - from inside and outside your network.
traceroute ipaddr - from inside and outside your network.
Another test is to set up a real (test) web server at the external static address, and see if that works; start eliminating pieces from the puzzle. This would eliminate the NAT layer, for instance.
The domain does resolve to the specified IP address from out here, both the example.com domain and the www.example.com host resolve to the specified address. So this does look local; router, firewall, NAT, etc.
I've learned to trust all "it was working before" statements after applying appropriate verification, and to occasionally use a second set of eyeballs to make sure I've entered the IP addresses correctly.

    Hi there apearsal,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’ve purchased movies with your Apple TV and want to know how to download those movies to your iPad, so that you can watch them later without a Wi-Fi network connection. Take a look at this article, it’ll walk you through the process of downloading purchases:

  • Port forwarding for the Web server for outside Internet (not working , help!!!!!!)

    Hello
I am trying to learn something new here. We have web server inside our organization its IP address is 172.16.0.35. We want outside Internet users to access web server, How is it possible? Please have a look at the running configuration. Web server is working inside the organization but not at outside. Our Static Public IP is 197.255.232.15 it is assigned to Inetrface Gigabit ATM0.1  and ISP default GW is 197.255.232.1. Let me know whats next? How do I make web server inside the organization available for outside Internet users. Thank you.

  • Apache web server not working...PLEASE HELP!!

I'm trying to get apache working on my Mac so I can host a website that will access a local MySQL database. I've researched this for a while. When I run the command:
    #sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl -t
    I get the following output:
httpd: Syntax error on line 75 of /private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf: Cannot load /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so into server: dlopen(/usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so, 10): Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libz.1.dylib\n Referenced from: /usr/libexec/apache2/mod_deflate.so\n Reason: no suitable image found. How do I fix this issue? I would really like to get this running without having to resort to a virtual Linux box or using XAMMP if possible. Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Mike

I get the following when I run that:
    Usage: /usr/sbin/httpd [-D name] [-d directory] [-f file]
    [-C "directive"] [-c "directive"]
    [-k start|restart|graceful|graceful-stop|stop]
    [-v] [-V] [-h] [-l] [-L] [-t] [-S]
    Options:
    -D name : define a name for use in <IfDefine name> directives
-d directory : specify an alternate initial ServerRoot
-f file : specify an alternate ServerConfigFile
-C "directive" : process directive before reading config files
-c "directive" : process directive after reading config files
-e level : show startup errors of level (see LogLevel)
-E file : log startup errors to file
    -v : show version number
    -V : show compile settings
-h : list available command line options (this page)
-l : list compiled in modules
-L : list available configuration directives
-t -D DUMP_VHOSTS : show parsed settings (currently only vhost settings)
    -S : a synonym for -t -D DUMP_VHOSTS
    -t -D DUMP_MODULES : show all loaded modules
    -M : a synonym for -t -D DUMP_MODULES
-t : run syntax check for config files
So it doesn't like the command. If I run "#sudo /usr/sbin/apachectl -t", I get the error listed in my initial posting.

  • Web access only accessible when specifying template

    Hi,
we moved our Groupwise 8.0.2 system to a new server after a server crash ( both old and new server are oes2 sp3 )
It works all fine, except that we cannot access the webaccess anymore on
    http://servername/gw/webacc
    but only on
    http://servername//gw/webacc?User.interface=css
    that however works very well.
Any idea how we can get it back to work with the old original URL?
    Thanks a lot.

/var/opt/novell/groupwise/webaccess/webacc.cfg is the config file where the template location is specified. For us, for example, they live here /srv/tomcat6/webapps/gw/WEB-INF/classes/templates/webacc I'd expect the default is specified come place.
ALSO.... make sure its not a browser issue... the last chosen template is cached on the browser. Try using private browser mode and then access the base URL and see if it works - if so, clear cookies on the browser.

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
Have checked the browser issue already, it is not that. It is actually accross the organisation, no matter which browser is used.
The other thing you mention seems to be the right direction, because the error message we get when using the "normal" URL is:
Compile Error: login.htt: Line 1: Unable to open file: login.htt. Cannot load file: login.htt.
however, I checked and the file seems to be in all the necessary locations. Maybe I am overlooking one.

  • My podcast has a channel, and one episode in the channel, but my second episode is only accessible via a search and doesn't appear in my channel

So I've recently submitted a podcast, and my channel is up and running with my first episode, but now that I've submitted my 2nd episode its not showing up when you view my podcast
BUT when you search my podcast name both episodes show up in the search results
As you can see its there in the 2nd picture but not in the first.
Futhermore when I click on the link to my own channel (the green rectangle on the bottom left of the second picture) it takes me right to the first picture, missing the 2nd episode.
Is this just a case of itunes being slow to add my next episode?
Here is a link to my RSS

That link is to your web page. Your feed is at http://miniaturejames.podbean.com/feed/

There are three episodes in the feed, the last two posted only yesterday. It's quite normal for the Store to take a couple of days to show new episodes, so it's just a question of waiting.

  • Need Help Streaming Video From Web Server Built Into Application - Linksys WRT54g Router

Very much appreciate any help getting streaming video feed from web server built into video application to work properly using port forwarding on my Linksys WRT54g wireless router.
    Here is the situation:
My PC is connected to the internet via a Linksys WRT54g wireless router.
The Windows XP Pro SP2 firewall is enabled, with a firewall exception established for the video camera application.
On the router, forwarding of port 80 is enabled for the LAN IP address of the PC running the video application with an embedded web server, and the web server in the video camera application is also set to use port 80.
I have a free DYNDNS account and also run the DYNDNS updater program on the PC running the video application with embedded web server. According to the DYNDNS web site and the DYNDNS updater program, the IP address assigned to the machine running the video application with embedded web server is set correctly in my dyndns account.
When I open a browser (Explorer or Firefox) on the PC running the video camera application with embedded web server, I am able to  connect to the video application's web server by going to the dyndns address linked to the machine running the video application. The video application's web server is set to use the dyndns address. That's the good news. The bad news is that I can't connect to the video application's web server from any machine that connects to the internet that uses a router other than the router used by the PC running the video application. I am only able to connect to the streaming video from the application's web server only on machines that connect to the internet using the same (home) router used by the PC that is running the video application.
Since I am able to connect to the video app's embedded web server successfully on the machine running the video application, it seems that at least something about the current port forwarding settings is correct. For example, if I uncheck 'enable' for forwarding of port 80 on the router settings page, I am no longer able to connect to the video app's web server when I try to do so in a browser running on the machine running the video app. When I re-enable port 80 forwarding on the router, I am again able to connect to the web server of the video application on the machine running the video app. I thought that by enabling forwarding of port 80 on the router and associating that port with the LAN IP of the machine running the video application, it would be possible to connect to the streaming video of the video app's embedded web server from ANY machine connected to the internet, but that is not the case. There must be some other router settings to update/change in order to get the port forwarding working to enable a successful connection to the video web server, but I am stumped. Very grateful for any suggestions as to how to get this working properly.
    Thanks in advance...

The firewall log can be configured on the third tab in the window for the firewall settings, where you can turn the firewall on and off completely.
From your tests, though, it does not seem to be the firewall. However, to be sure, it would be good to check the log. It will help to eliminate the firewall as the culprit and you may find it handy in the future, too. ;-) Just don't forget to turn the log off again after you are done because it may cause some performance penalty on your system while on.
From what you write, it seems as if I should give a little networking background on the ip addresses you'll see. Your setup is (or should be) a modem connected to the WAN/Internet port of the WRT. The computer is connected into a LAN port of the WRT.
Your router has two IP addresses (that's what makes it a router): a WAN address and a LAN address. The WAN address is the address assigned by the ISP. It is a normal internet IP address. Everyone is able to send packets to this IP address. The WAN address is the one reported by whatismyipaddress.com, it should be listed in the dyndns record and it is the address that your router shows on the Status page. It's the public IP address of your router. Dyndns maps your dyndns.org name to that IP address.
Your router also has an IP address on the LAN side. You can configure it to be whatever you want. The default is 192.168.1.1 with netmask 255.255.255.0 and it is better to leave it like that or at least inside the network 192.168.*.*. 192.168 is a special, reserved IP address range for private networks. Basically, routers in the internet are not supposed to forward addresses in this range. That makes them suitable for private LANs as the packets never can get anywhere. Most people using Linksys routers have there LAN in 192.168.1.*.
The router acts as gateway, which means it forwards packets from PCs in the LAN to the internet and back. As all your PCs in your LAN share a single WAN IP address, the gateway does address translation (NAT). This works only in one direction: from the inside to the outside. The router remembers when a PC in your LAN sends something out and accepts the responses in and sending them back to the PC. If something comes in from the internet which cannot be associated with a ongoing communication the packet is dropped unless you use port forwarding.
All computers in your LAN either have a static IP address assigned or use DHCP to get it automatically. The router has a DHCP server as well which gives out IP address from 192.168.1.100-149 if not changed. With a router with default settings static IP addresses can be in the range of 192.168.1.2-99 and 150-254.
ipconfig /all reports your IP address in your LAN, i.e. an address 192.168.1.*. The gateway in this output should be 192.168.1.1 which is your router. And packet no in the LAN address range 192.168.1.* is send to the router which forwards the packets into the internet.
An address 192.168.1.* should not appear as internet address in the Status page of the router nor should it appear at dyndns.
Port forwarding is used to operate a server in the LAN. By default, a server in the LAN cannot be reached from the internet. You have to configure port forwarding for this. You configure that traffic bound for a specific port (e.g. TCP port 80 for http) on your WAN IP address is forwarded to the same port on a specific LAN IP address. If your server runs on 192.168.1.50 than traffic to your WAN IP address port 80 is forwarded to 192.168.1.50 port 80. That way your HTTP server can be reached from the internet. As you can only configure a fixed IP address in port forwarding it is recommended that the server uses a static IP address and not DHCP as in the latter case the IP address may change over time...
O.K. so much for networking. I hope that makes things a little clearer and you can verify that your setup is how it is intended to be.
I suggest the following: on the router's security page there is an option to block WAN requests. Remove the check if it is set (meaning: do not block). After you did that change you should be able to ping your WAN address (e.g. ping xxxx.dyndns.org) from the internet. That way we know that it is on the correct address.
Also on the Administration page make sure that remote management is disabled (should be like that per default) or that the management port is NOT 80 but for example 8080. What is your your UPnP settings on the same page?
O.K. that should be enough for the moment...

  • WRT160NL built in DHCP server and WEB server stop to work

    Hello all!
My home network based on the WRT160NL with one wireline PC, two wireless PCs and wireless printer works with no problems - connections are at full speed, no drop outs, wireless and wireline QOS is perfect. But then quite regularly every two or three days suddenly the router internal DHCP servers stops to work - I see with the wireshark that my wireline PC sends the DHCP requests to the router but router does not reply to them. If at the same moment the other PC's are allready in use and got theirs IP before they can surf the internet uninterrupted. Only router reboot helps to solve this situation. After the reboot DHCP server immediately acknowledges DHCP request from the PC and assigns him his IP number.
Sometime this situation occurs when IP address is already assigned, I can surf the internet, routing works, I can ping the router but I can not access the router's built in web server. Neither via  IE, neither via FF.
I do not use P2P programs, IP traffic over the router is very light - no internal traffic between PCs, no file transfers to the USB flash key and WAN internet connection is 1Mbs. I have upgraded to the latest firmware Ver.1.00.01.17. Nevertheless problem occurs quite regularly about every three days.
I try to reproduce the problem more frequently and there is the way how to do that - I start to watch IP TV on my wireline PC (usually I watch my IP TV via the STB connected directly to the DSL modem) so IP TV multicast now goes through the router. It is about 5 - 6 Mbs and about 500 pps of IP traffic. This IP TV stream very often causes internal web server and DHCP server to stop. So although I can watch IP TV and surf the web on my PC with no problems, if other PC's are powered up during this situation they will not get theirs IP addresses.
I see in other posts on this forum that similar behavior can be triggered also with the heavy read/write traffic to the attached USB flash key.
    So my conclusion would be:
    - are the problems above known to Linksys/Cisco, do they acknowledge them, do they work on them
    - when we can expect new firmware release - can we expect new release for this model at all
    Best regards

Ridcully thank you for your post, I did not execute the procedure you suggested. Prior to execute it I want to get more background on it? Why do you think that reconfiguring from the factory defaults would solve my problem? Are you 100% sure that this is the solution or are you just guessing?
Router offers backup and restore functionality where you can store current configuration into file on PC and latter restore it. Can I use this functionality in your procedure or should I reconfigure all router settings manually?

  • HTTP web server disappeared ?

    Hi there,
please help me as I cannot connect to the HP HTTP Server in my own LAN any more.
My HP 8500 a910g is connected to LAN with a static IP 10.0.0.1 assigned.  Up until now, I always used http://10.0.0.1/# to access the web server and a dyndns with portforward to access it from outside.
Printing and scanning works alright, but when I try to open 10.0.0.1 I only see the following output :
      It works!
This is the default web page for this server.
The web server software is running but no content has been added, yet.
What is going on here and what can I do to restore the Web Server  ?
    Thank you for your help.

I found the solution - I reenabled Web Server by following this & it works now.

  • How to make weblogic proxy to work on Sun Java system web server 7?

    Hi Every one,
I am working on upgrade our Sun one 6.1 webserver to Sun Java system web server 7. Our website uses weblogic server to process jsp, web server only send static pages. I did all configurations as on Sun one. But somehow, the webserver does not forward "get jsp page" request to weblogic. The log record is:
for host 10.78.124.118 trying to GET /home.jsp, send-file reports: HTTP4142: can't find /www/a/WebServer7/docs/bmd9i/home.jsp (File not found)
    home.jsp is at weblogic server.
And redirect "NameTrans fn="redirect" from="/" url="/home.jsp"" seems does not work. when I type on IE http://32.69.253.131/ (32.69.253.131 is http listener IP), it always shows index.html page under the document root.
Could some on can help? I am the first time to configurate web server. Thanks in advance.

Quick obvious question - Are you positive you're editing the correct obj.conf? Check the config directory and see if there is a second one called something like <instance>.obj.conf (where <instance> is the name of your configured instance).
Alternatively you can grep for object-file in the server.xml to see which obj.conf the server is using:
    # grep object-file server.xml
<object-file>bare-php.obj.conf</object-file>Assuming that you are editing the correct obj.conf file, are you making certain to restart Web Server after making your changes?

  • Problem while configuring the Apache Web Server as the Intermediary Server

    Hello,
I want to use Apache 2.0 web-server as a proxy for my SAP EP so that I could access http://portal_server:50000/irj through this Apache external web-server.
I checked this sap help link as a reference.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/18/5cea2296190e4cb7faf9468ad793ea/frameset.htm
But still not clear what exact configuration I need to do in the httpd.conf file. I searched the posted forums on this topic but couldnt get exact steps.
It would be grateful if anyone can guide me on this configuration (redirecting url etc).
    Thanks in advance.

    STEPS OF SECURE APACHE-SSL
1.Install apache version like apache_x_y_z_win32.exe also select the right combination of mod_ssl and Openssl.
(Like for apache1.3.33 you need mod_ssl_2.8.22 and Openssl_0.9.7f or Openssl_0.9.7g.
                       Or
Select a mix of all three like [Apache_1.3.33-Mod_SSL_2.8.22-Openssl_0.9.7f-Win32.zip]
(for this  install apache service also).
    2.    Select   httpd.conf file from (apache\conf) open it for configuration.
    3.   Stop the services of apache from Control panel \ administrative tools \ services.
Note:--  may be it is possible all files for configuration will not be there in apache2.exe  then extract the
Apache_2.0.54-Mod_SSL_2.8.22-Openssl_0.9.7f-Win32.zip  file and copy conf, lib, modules logs
files in corresponding folder of Apache2.exe.
                                                 HTTPD.CONF   Configuration
    1.     Replace all occurrences of www.my-server.dom with the real domain name!
(If you have installed apache from .exe file then its doesn’t required but for . Zip archive file you have to replace it)
    2.     Comment port 80 like  # port 80
    3.     Write Listen 80 and Listen 443 in httpd.conf file.
    4.     Extract Openssl in any folder and copy files ssleay32.dll and libeay32.dll into WINNT\SYSTEM32 paste them here.
    5.     Download Openssl.cnf file because you need to configure openssl.exe. a link apear select saveas and save it to bin folder of apache2 directory
    6.     Copy all the *.exe, *.so, *.dll inside your apache\bin directory from extracted Openssl directory.
    7.     Write
                  LoadModule ssl_module modules/ApacheModuleSSL.dll
                      or
                  LoadModule ssl_module modules/ApacheModuleSSL.so
                      or
                  LoadModule ssl_module modules/mod_ssl.so
after the LoadModule lines that are already in the httpd.config file
          8.    Write AddModule mod_ssl.c this for apache1 for apache2 it is noy required.
after the AddModule lines that are already in the httpd.config file.
         9.  Add the following to the end of httpd.conf:
                        SSLMutex sem
                        SSLRandomSeed startup builtin
                        SSLSessionCache none
                        SSLLog logs/SSL.log
                        SSLLogLevel info
                        SSLEngine On
                        SSLCertificateFile conf/ssl/my-server.cert
                        SSLCertificateKeyFile conf/ssl/my-server.key
                        ProxyRequests Off
    <Proxy *>
    Order deny,allow
    Allow from all
    </Proxy>
ProxyPass / http://ServerName:50000/     // your server name and port number
ProxyPassReverse / http://ServerName:50000/   // your server name and port number
    ProxyPreserveHost On
    save the Httpd.conf file
                                                     GENERATING CERTIFICATE
    a.     Open Command Prompt
    b.     Reach till bin directory by writing like   cd apache\bin
    c.     Write command     bin> openssl req -config openssl.cnf -new -out my-server.csr and put required detail.
    d.      Write openssl rsa -in privkey.pem -out my-server.key.
    e.     Write openssl x509 -in my-server.csr -out my-server.cert -req -signkey my-server.key -days 365.
    f.     Write openssl x509 -in my-server.cert -out my-server.der.crt -outform DER.
    g.     Create an Apache/conf/ssl directory and move my-server.key and my-server.cert into it.
    10.     Start Apache services from control panel \ Administrative tools \ services.
    11.     Now you have made Apache as SSL enabled open browser and test it by https://localhost

  • Newbie Web server question

    Hello,
I've been able to setup my J2EE web server on localhost (my computer). But now I want to access this web server from within my intranet network, on another machine.
How do I do this? Right now the URL to the servlet is
    http://locahost:8000/foo
How do I configure my server to run that URL on another machine within the network?
    Thanks!

I think you don't need to. Try http://your_LOCAL_ip_address:8080/foo
That should work if I'm not terribly mistaken. I've never tried it actually. This is all assuming you don't have a nasty firewall that will block the incoming connection of course.

  • Sun one web server 6.0 admin instance

    Hi,
After installing Sun one web server 6.0 sp6 on HP-UX, the admin server instance seems to work fine (i.e. I can bring up the admin web page). However, I cannot bring up web page from other web server instance. it gives me this error "the page cannot be displayed". Am I supposed to get a default webpage from this web server? How can I tell if this web server is working properly? Please help.
    thanks,
