Why am I unable to Configure Database Mail?

To Anyone who can help -- I am following the self-paced training kit for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Implementation and Maintenance written by Mike Hotek and have entered the following code as requested:  ( Note that I have italicized the
code & message )
EXEC sp_configure ‘Database Mail XPs’,1
GO
RECONFIGURE WITH OVERRIDE
GO
When I execute this code I get the following message:
Msg 15123, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_configure, Line 51
The configuration option 'Database Mail XPs' does not exist, or it may be an advanced option.
Admittedly I am very new to SQL Server -- the only thing I can figure why this is not working is because I did not check the Reporting Services box when I installed the SQL Server
2008 Enterprise software, as I was following the instructions as close as possible.  The other possibility is I downloaded a different database than what was asked, although I have no idea how that would affect my outcome.  Thank you to anyone
who can help!
Oh yeah, I don't know if this helps but I am running Windows Vista, w/ Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU processor 2.50GHz
& 4GB of RAM and it is a 64-bit system...  Thanks again!

please try  this---
----- First run below script
EXEC sp_configure 'Show Advanced Options', 1
RECONFIGURE
WITH OVERRIDE
go
------ then run below script
EXEC
sp_configure ‘Database Mail XPs’,1
GO
RECONFIGURE
WITH OVERRIDE
GO

Why am I unable to send e mails from my iPhone, and get message rejected by server and message put in outbox.  I have tried changing server ports but to no avail.  I am not very technically minded so any suggestions in laymans terms please.  This is a big problem as I work away frequently and need to answer e mails.  This also happens when at home and on my own wifi.

  • Why am I unable to receive incoming mail?

Why am I unable to receive e-mail but I can send it? Mail version 3.6 for Macbook.

I took it to the Apple store and it had them all stumped. They kept saying I had to have a "bad" e-mail that was preventing others from passing. They tried to erase all e-mails but it still wouldn't work. When they were just about ready to give up the man decided to wipe out anything having to do with e-mail-and start a new account, so I lost messages, but once he cleared all e-mail related items on the laptop, the mail went through!!!
I haven't had problems since- so....I hope that helps!!

  • Unable to Configure Database in ConsoleOne

    PROBLEM
I can navigate to Tools->Zenworks Inventory->Configure Database, browse to
and select {server_name}_invDatabase. However, when I click OK the mouse
pointer just turns into an hourglass. The window wont close and accept
the change. You end up clicking Cancel with the hourglass to close the
window. You can right click on the {server_name}_invDatabase object in
eDir and choose Zenworks Inventory->Configure DB but when you attempt to do
a query or something a window pops up prompting you to first configure your
    database.
    SYSTEM
    Netware 6.5 SP5.
ConsoleOne 1.3.6e with Zenworks 6.5.2 snapins (after upgrade, see below)
We were running Zenworks for Desktops 4 until I upgraded to Zenworks 6.5
SP1 about a year to year and a half ago. Some time after that the
Inventory functionality stopped. Im now trying to fix it.
    ATTEMPTS TO FIX
    1. I first applied Support Pack 2 for Zenworks 6.5. That didnt fix my
    problem.
    2. I then tried reinstalling the Inventory Service off the Zenworks 6.5
with SP1 CD, starting the Inventory service, and then reapplying SP2. That
    didnt fix it.
    3. I have followed the steps in Novell TID # 10097151. I actually had been
wondering which object was the correct one, if it was Inventory
    Service_{server_name} or {server_name}_ZenInvService. After following
these steps I am seeing computers getting inventoried on the Inventory
Service console screen. That wasnt happening before. So this fixed one
of my problems but not all of them.
    4. I then followed the steps in Novell TID #10097366. I confirmed the
usernames were set as shown and retyped the passwords. I even restarted
the Sybase (ASA) and Zen Inventory services at the console but that didnt
    fix it.
    5. I found this thread
    (http://groups.google.com/group/novel...b931657601b01a)
in which other users were dealing with the same problem. I found an older
copy of InventorySnapins.jar as specified and tried it but that didnt fix it.
What can I try next? I really want to use Zenworks to hunt for old apps on
my network that were not using anymore.
And in a side note, where *do* you configure Zenworks to scan a workstation
for applications? The software scan tab of the workstation inventory
policy has a footnote saying these settings only apply to ZfD 3.2, 4, and
4.01. I checked the ZfD 6.5 SP2 manual and it says about the same thing
verbatim. However, neither one includes a helpful sentence telling you
*where* to set this if you are using Zenworks 6.5 or even referring to a
different chapter or section of the manual. Does Zenworks just assume that
if you want to inventory the hardware that you want the software
inventoried as well and just do it automatically?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Matthew

I see. It seems there was a change in assumptions when Novell moved from
Zenworks 4 to 6.5. Previously it seems there was the assumption that since
desktop computers weren't that powerful it might overwhelm them to scan for
both hardware and software. Therefore, these options were put next to each
other so you could choose. In Zenworks 6.5 the assumption is that, since
client computers have become more powerful, if you're scanning the client
hardware you're going to want to scan the software as well. Therefore they
took away the use of the software tab and made it less obvious on how to
    disable scanning.
Everything seems to be working for me now on Zenworks Inventory. It's been
inventorying for about 48 hours now and has updated most of my stale
records. I want to thank Shaun for all the posts he replies to on the
Zenworks newsgroups. I've seen his replies all over the place as I was
searching through Google Groups trying to fix this and they helped me fix my
    problems.

  • Unable to configure Google Mail in OSX Mail

    Running Yosemite on my iMac.
I am unable for some reason to configure Gmail in OSX Mail.  I did this easily on my Macbook Pro, but for some reason the same steps cause things to error out.
When I attempt to add the GMAIL email to my OSX Mail, it will look as if it's creating it, but then comes back with a message that says that Mail and Notes can not be configured. Yet when you look in the OSX Mail, the inbox is there and the label/mailboxes are there. But, there is no Archive (All Mail) as I have on my Macbook Pro also running Yosemite.
Any clues on what i can do?

The MacBook Pro problem was fixed by removing Google from the Internet Accounts and Mail. Then adding the Google account back and gong back to Mail to configure the account.  Why it went south? Don't know.
This doesn't fix my iMac problem however, which is very unusual, seeing that I have the same version of Yosemite and Mail running on both computers. On the Mac, it just won't setup the Gmail account.

  • Database mail configuration is not working with office365

    Hi there!
I' looking for some help debugging a blocking error in our DEV environment.
We're currently using Windows 2008 R2 Standard, with IIS 7.5 and MS SQL Server 2012 Standard.
We're experiencing troubles while trying to use database mail in conjunction with Office365 SMTP.
We've generated our self-signed certificate, via IIS, and configured SMTP Virtual Relay Server with local (machine-name) and remote domain, following a step-by-step tutorial from configureoffice365.com.
We've also checked at the original MSDN tutorial, but it's been of little use (at least for us).
We would like to use our Office365 SMTP server to send out notifications and we're currently using Office365 working credentials to try the SMTP authentication, but we're stuck with this error (x is used to hide sensible data):
    OutboundConnectionCommand [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "STARTTLS - SMTP" 0 8
    OutboundConnectionResponse [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "- -?220 2.0.0 SMTP server ready SMTP" 0 27
    OutboundConnectionCommand [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "EHLO -?SQLDEVxxxxx SMTP" 0 4
    OutboundConnectionResponse [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "- -?250-xxxxx.outlook.office365.com Hello [x.x.x.x] SMTP" 0 58
    OutboundConnectionCommand [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "AUTH - SMTP" 0 4
    OutboundConnectionResponse [12/May/2014:13:35:08 +0100] "- -?334 xxxxx SMTP" 0 16
    OutboundConnectionResponse [12/May/2014:13:35:14 +0100] "- -?535 5.7.3

    Any idea or suggestion?
    Thank you.

    Hi giovannizuccaro,
According to your description, when you configure database mail in your SQL Server Management Studio,
Please note that you enter the server to send to as localhost and the email address as the email you have on the office 365 Exchange online for the same account you used to configure the delivery configuration of the local SMTP server. And
you should choose anonymous authentication for SMTP authentication. Once finished the configuration, you can test the email sending, check if you are able to send emails to any external recipient using you Exchange online.

  • Database mail only works from SSMS not from a job

I have a script that returns its results via DB mail. When I run it from SSMS I get email, when I run it from a job I don't get email
Here is the error message from the DB mail log
    Message
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2014-09-23T10:12:29). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The operation has timed out.).
I've already enabled mail in SQL server agent.
    1. Went into object-explorer, right-clicked on the SQL Server Agent, and selected properties.  Then
went to the Alert System page, and enabled the mail profile for the server agent. (you may already have this).
    2. Then, went to "Database mail", right-clicked and selected "Configure
Database mail."  Selected "Manage profile security" and made sure my profile was set to public. THEN, and this is the kicker, clicked on the "Default Profile" field and set it to "yes".
I'm using SQL server 2012 running on a Windows 7 system

  • Database Mail not working with SQL Server Agent

I'm running SQL Server 2005 Standard edition 64 bit with SP2 on a 64 bit machine.
Database mail does not work with SQL Server Agent.  When I configure SQL Server Agent to use database mail the test email button is greyed out and inactive therefore I cannot send emails using operators or for jub success failure etc.
I've read that there was supposed to be a fix for this with SP1 but I have SP2 and still receive the same problem.  Please can somebody help as I do not wish to use SQL Mail as a work around due to this becomming redundant in future versions of SQL Server.
    Kind Regards

    The problems solved
    steps:
1)we create a mail profile at at Managment->Database Mail ,of SQL Managment
2)we set this account as "default" at Managment->Database Mail -> Configure Database Mail -> Manage profile security
3)At tab "Alert System" of SQL Server Agent properties , we check the "Enable mail profile" , Mail System=Database Mail, Mail profile = "the profile we already create"
4)we create a new operator at "Operators" of sql agent, where at "notification options" -> "Email name" we put the mail where we want to sent the agent the mails at failured job
5)We go at a specific job, at tab "Notifications" ,we check the "email" check box and then we choose the operator we just create, at the text box next to check box.
I hope not to forget something
Thank You all for the help

  • SQLServer 2008 Express Edition and Database Mail

    All,
BOL says that "Database Mail is not available in SQL Server Express." is not supported.
Though, the express edition does not have the UI to configure database mail, I was able
to configure it by setting up a "Database Mail Account" and "Database Mail Profile". I
was also able successfully send an email with the sp_send_dbmail.
Is the BOL wrong or am I missing something?
    ms-help://MS.SQLCC.v10/MS.SQLSVR.v10.en/s10de_4deptrbl/html/14cbf88f-d9d1-41a5-994e-532e2973ac9e.htm
    Thanks,
    MS

So MS, can you help me with the steps to make it available?  I executed   dbo.sysmail_start_sp received an error indicating database mail xp must be enabled.  Successfully ran.
    sp_configure 'show advanced options', 1;
    GO
    RECONFIGURE;
    GO
    sp_configure 'Database Mail XPs', 1;
    GO
    RECONFIGURE
    GO
then the stored procedure was successful. Restarted SQL express and still I don't see in SSMS, under management  'database Mail' therefore can't setup an account and profile . (NO database WIZARD).
Can you please tell me what I am missing?
    Thanks, Pat_c
