Why wont it let me add my music on my ipod to itunes on my new laptop that my iphone 4s is snyced with?

Why wont it let me add my music from my old itunes account from my old desktop computer thats on my ipod to my new itunes on my laptop that my iphone 4s is synced too?

Is it the same iTunes account or different?  There really is no reason that they should be different if the only thing that changed is the computer.
The iDevice is not a backup device, copy the content from the old computer to the new computer.
IF there really are two different iTunes accounts, the new computer will need to be authorized for the old account.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Have backed up music to external device, downloaded Itunes to my new laptop, music wont play it askes for file

Have backed up my I Tunes music on external device, downloaded Itune program on my new laptop,  transfered from external device, but music wont play without external device plugged in, it askes to locate original file when i try to play music without external device plugged in, please can you help

It sounds like you restored the library in a way which has the library assoicated with the tracks on the external rather than the internal drive. Did you perhaps use iTunes to consolidate to that drive before the transfer and copy the library files over independently?
I have script called FindTracks that can usually repair broken links, alternatively I might be able to guide you through some steps that would make the library on the external drive work as a self contained unit, and having done that you should be able to copy the library files to the internal drive to repair that one. See make a split library portable for details.

  • How do i transfer all my music from my ipod to 4gen to my new laptop so i can put it on my new ipod 5th gen

Having trouble trying to get all my music transferd from my ipod to my laptop to put it on my new ipod 5gen that i just bought... Tried syncing it to itunes and it didnot work... Can anyone help?? Email me at [email protected] please....

The way I had to transfer my music from my 4th Gen. to 5th Gen. ipod touch was and still is iCloud. Look up iCloud and how you use it. You'll need to Download iCloud onto your Labtop(Log in, follow the steps ect.). Make Sure To Activate iCloud on you're 4th and 5th Gen. In both Ipod settings.(Just a note this was my personal way of doing this. There is other ways im sure, just sharing my way hope it works.

  • Please help - no music showing in ipod source  during move to new computer

    Hello and Help
I am in the process of moving my ipod and itunes to my new laptop. I have followed Apples instructions - how to use your ipod to move your music to a new computer. I am now at the bit Free up space on the iPod however when i click on the music option under my iPod in the source panel (step number 2 and 3)all the music is in grey and i cannot click an any music to select all. What do I do. How do i free up space. I am sure i have followed all the steps correctly although i am a bit of a technophobe. The music is playing on my ipod if that bit of info helps and is also showing in the normal music bit in itunes....... please help.
    30GB video   Windows 2000

or if you want to move the music to your new laptop you should just make a folder and put all your music in that folder on your old laptop. after that clear your ipod so it has no music or videos on it what so ever. then put your ipod in disk mode, then click on my computer, find the ipod drive and click on it and drag the folder that has the songs into the ipod drive. then after that hook up the USB Ipod cord to your new laptop and then download and install itunes, attach your ipod to the cord thats in your new laptop, get the folder out of the ipod and darg it onto your new laptops desktop. then open up the folder and drag all the songs onto your new itunes....
Note: When brining your songs onto your ipod drive, do not create a shortcut and put the shortcut onto the ipod drive....but I think many of you know that!

  • Why wont apple let me download apps without a credit card?

Why wont apple let me get an apple ID without a "no credit card" suggestion in the payment method?
I dont buy my apps and I dont understand why my sister (and other people) were able to make an apple ID without putting a credit card.
Though I can enter my apple ID account when it comes to the game center, when I try to download an app that problem always appears. So now I'm using my sister's ID, but I really want to have my own.

Follow it through to the payment methods and choose None if it is available.

  • I uploaded the giftcard money to my itunes account. and now when i try and buy a song it keeps saying that it has to charge my card. why wont it let me use the giftcard money? how can i fix this?

i put money to my itunes account. and now when i try and buy a song it keeps saying that it has to charge my card. why wont it let me use the giftcard money? how can i fix this?

If you still have your old card listed on your account then try selecting the 'none' option and remove it and then try entering the card's details from scratch. If that doesn't work then what is the full error message that you are getting, and the card is registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing) that you have on your iTunes account ?

  • HT1351 Whenever I try to sync music to my ipod from itunes, it will go through all the steps up until it actually downloads the music, then it starts, and doesnt move. Why wont it download anything?

Whenever I try to sync music to my ipod from itunes, it will go through all the steps up until it actually downloads the music, then it starts, and doesnt move. Why wont it download anything?

    Try here:
    iTunes: Error 13019 during sync
Not updating the iOS should not effect your problem.
As long as all the apps are in the iTunes library, you will not lose app data by updating the iOS.

  • HT4314 Why wont apple let you disable or unregister from gamecenter!? why?

Why wont apple let you disable or unregister from gamecenter?! Iv done everything I can but games log into it reactivated its notifications aswell. It auto logs me back in...I want apple to let you unregister completely why not?? I have disabled all notifications from Gamecenter romoved all games listed, i deleted my email adress registered, i changed my user name...and loged out but games reactivate it, I also noticed it still keeps a record of your previous score and when reactivated relists all games on your handset again aswell.

I feel the same way -- I would REALLY like to remove this misbegotten piece of junk completely. I would SETTLE for being able to disable it -- although there are instructions for "disabling" it, it doesn't STAY disabled. I have followed the instructions, removed my email address (although it still uses my email address as the login and won't allow me to ACTUALLY remove it), made my profile private, then signed out... And the next time the device is powered back on, the account is logged in again and insisting on trying to connect to every game I play. So I deny access, "disable" it, sign out, etc, again... ad infinitum, ad nauseum.
When the rest of my family switched to android, I stubbornly stayed with my beloved iOS devices and my Macs, but this annoyance -- which WILL NOT go away -- almost makes me think I should reconsider. I HATE Game Center, and want it off my devices.

I loaded iTunes on a new laptop. I copied and pasted my albums to a 4G stick and down loaded them to the new laptop. Placing them in, Libraries – Music – iTunes and than in Itunes used File – add file to library. So far so good. For what ever reason one of the CDs would not load onto the stick. I got the orginal CD and loaded directly to Itunes. Now when I look in  Libraries – Music – iTunes it’s not there but it is in and plays in iTunes. What should I have done or should I be doing? Thanks.

It's not a unique situation - happens all the time, smaller hard drives getting filled up.
It's also easy to fix. I just moved my itunes content to a bigger hard drive.
First I made a backup of the itunes database file - iTunes Library.itl. Just in case anything went wrong.
Nothing did go wrong, but I'd have it in case anything DID go wrong. That file holds ratings, playcounts, Date Added, and other metadata.
Second, in itunes change the preferences > advanced tab to tell itunes to put everything on G:
Set the itunes folder location to something like G:Media or G:iTunes
This will affect all FUTURE additions to itunes and not do anything to the existing locations.
Make sure the checkbox for "Keep itunes organized" is NOT checked. I also left the "Copy files when adding" unchecked.
Third, to move all the files to G: without itunes losing the paths, run the File > Library > Organize > Consolidate command. This will need to run a while, so be patient as it copies all the files to the new G: location. This does NOT delete the originals. You will have to do that.
Fourth, make sure everything in itunes is OK and you can play stuff in your library. If you're really cautious you can run a script to check for missing/dead tracks.

  • How do I add purchased music to my ipod?

How do I add purchased music to my ipod?  I do not like this new itunes update and find it very confusing.

If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar.
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device and follow the instructions.
