Windows GetCommError Cose xF9C0

Hi,
I developed a labview 6.0.2 application to test a UUT via the USB Port on a PC with Win2000. On the PC, a PCI serial card is used for COM1, an external USB to Serial adapter is used for COM2. After the test program initializes COM1 and COM2 and the DMMs connected to them, and when the program tried to talk to the UUT via the USB port, A Windows GetCommError code xF9C0 came up. Can this error caused by the USB Serial Adapter? Or it is a windows driver or labview related issue? Your hints are appreciated. BTW, my application is generated on a Windows 98 PC, will it matter?

Any USB-serial adapter should have a driver that emulates the behavior of the native windows serial driver and you should be able to access the serial port as if it is a native com port (ie the usb layer should be transparent). If this is not the case, you should contact the manufacturer of the USB-Serial device.
BTW The error message denotes that the error occurred at "USB-Port Open.vi". This seems to indicate that you are accessing the USB port directly. You should be accessing COM2 through VISA and not be accessing the USB port itself.

    Hi
I use the System Exec.VI to open an external program "not written by me" that communicates thru the serial port to a device. My LabView program reads a log file that the external program creates and looks for the word end in it. This works fine mostly but once in a while i get the "Windows GetCommError" See attached file. The error message most come from the System Exec.VI or from Windows. What do you think ?

    Hi,
It could be that MS Project is unable to handle custom lookup fields that have a selected value longer than 128 characters. Particularly when using ‘multi-value custom fields’ there is little to no restriction on the length of values that are selected.
    There is this
blog post which details a similar error message and proposes a resolution.
    Hope this helps,

  • ITunes hangs when trying to sync with Apple TV - Windows 7 OS

    Hello,
I have Windows 7 RTM and every time I try to sync my iTunes with Apple TV the app freezes. It was not happening under Vista.
    What could be the reason?
    Thanks in advance,

Sure thing. I got Windows 7 'cos I'm MS partner in business. Not that I like it too much.
I just though that someone could experience similar issue. If not than I'll wait until official release and we'll see. It is strange though. All coms in firewall and antivir are open for iTunes, it sees Apple TV just fine, and everything is peachy until I try to sync.

    Hi,
I am new to Labview and am using Labview 5.1.
I am trying to collect data from a multifunction Iotech Daq2000 board and save data into records.  I am collecting the data, saving it, waiting a few seconds and repeating the same procedure.  The first record saves correctly but I then receive the following error while recording the second record.  Further  probing indicates that the error occurs in the daqAdcTransferGetStat VI and the error appears
to be related to the Device Handle.
    Thank you for any help.

    Hello,
The problem you are seeing seems rooted in the driver for your lotech card.  Since that isn't an NI product, you may not find many people with experience using it here.

  • Changing HDD to SSD, what are the options?

hi, guys, new to the forum, I just bought a thinkpad x130e during an on sale event at one of the local retailer, pretty excited, since i like the rugged design.
I am looking at an upgrade from 320G HDD to a 128G SSD... but i don't have any windows 7 installation disc handy, so what are the options for me to install the operating system (windows 7).
I don't know if there is a way to transfer the whole system from HDD to SSD? will there be any trick to perform? or simply i just have to purchase new copy of windows?
cos i noticed i do have a windows7 pro product key at the bottom of my thinkpad, i kinda don't want to waste the money.
    please help..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You don't need to purchase another copy of Win7. You will need
    1. SSD. This must be 7mm thick, not the more common 9.5mm thick.
    2. USB enclosure for your HDD,
    3. Software to "clone" the contents of your HDD to your SSD. Acronis True Image is a well-regarded package that does this. There are also some free utilities that can do this, however, I'm not familiar with them.
    Procedure:
    1. Move the HDD to the external enclosure.
    2. Put the SSD in the X130e.
    3. Reboot from the HDD. (You'll need to interrupt boot with Blue ThinkVantage button to specify.)
    4. Install Acronis (or equivalent.)
    5. Perform disk clone operation. You will need to tell the software how you want to resize partitions since you're going to a smaller disk.
    6. Reboot from SSD.

  • Audigy2 NX USB not recognized after Standby-M

    Hi,
if somebody uses a Laptop there is only the possibility to use an USB, Firewire or PCMCIA Soundcard.
I am using the Audigy2 NX USB with my portable PC (Windows XP SP2 installed).
When I close the lid of my Laptop and it goes into <EM>Standby-Mode</EM> and then reactivating Windows again an Error Message appears when Music is going to be played.
The Device seems to have a driver problem.
I need to reboot Windows XP everytime again when I want to play Sound.
(I've installed the newest Soundblasterdrivers and Firmware with Autoupdate!)
    Questions:
: Is this a known problem?
    2: Is there a solution?
3: Which external Creative-Soundcards do support Notebookfeatures like Standbymode?
    4: Why aren't 64bit drivers released for Win XP64bit's

. Not a known problem at least I dun read it here.
    2. The problem maybe with Windows itself cos I known that the OS have many problem with standby. If you go to microsoft website and do a search in their kbase, you will find many problem occur with USB device after standby.
    3. As say, it may be a problem of OS and not the card.
    4. There are 64bit driver being developed but just not release yet. This is what I found on their kbase.
    http://us.creative.com/support/XPx64/
Here's one solution I found at microsoft kbase.
Do not configure your computer to turn off USB devices to save power while the computer is on standby. To do this, follow these steps:
. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
    2. In System Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
    3. In Device Manager, double-click Uni'versal Serial Bus Controllers.
    4. Right-click USB Root Hub, and then click Properties.
    5. In USB Root Hub Properties, click the Power Management tab, and then click to clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
    6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each instance of USB Root Hub that is listed in Device Manager.

  • Build Application Error

I am consistently getting an Error 26071 when I try to build my application to make an .EXE.  I am usling LV6.1, and Application Builder for it.  The app. works just fine from within LV itself.  There are no errors.
Specifically, the error message is "Error 26071 occurred at Build Application.vi >> Dist Call Create Installer.vi >> Win Install Create.vi >> Win Install Add Files.vi >> MSI DK Add Shortcut.vi", with possible reasons stated as "Windows GetCommError:  The hex value if the code us x65D7".
This code used to build just fine before I added some code using the Winevent.llb library, retrieved from NI.  I had done a mass recompile on it and my code, just in case there was LV version compatibility issues.  I also copied the specific vi's from Winevent into my library and did another mass compile, to no avail.  I am using VISA serial port vi's (the GetCommError made me think this might be related).
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong or what I'm missing?

  • Can a BIOS upgrade allow NCQ to be enabled on K8N Neo 2P?

My new hard drive happens to have NCQ capablity, though I didn't buy it for that reason (Maxtor DiamondMax  10).
Is it possible that a future BIOS upgrade would allow nForce 3 mb's to take advantage of NCQ?
I suspect the answer is no, but would just like to hear from someone who knows for sure.

ok then you lucky person, are you using nvidia ide drivers or windows ones, cos if you read it properly i say that windows drivers are fine just not nvidia ide drivers, and you may have diff firmware in your maxtor,, whatever, my 300 gig 16meg died in the msi k8n neo, as did the pata version 250 gig, 2 drives, with 16 meg cache ncq, yet the maxtor 200 gig non ncq drive 8 meg cache is fine in this mobo, as is the hitachi 250 sata drive, this is just using windows drivers.
Hope it keeps working for you which ever way, and ooh do a sear\ch and see how many other people are having trouble with this, and yet you send an email to msi about this and they say they have never heard of anyone having this kind of trouble,.

  • MPEG4 File Questions

I have a MacBook Pro (10.6.5) and I have a DVD that contains either an MPEG4 file or an MP3 file. One of the files cannot even be opened on my MacBook Pro, and I'm not sure why. I have several questions regarding this issue. 1. Is this a problem with only my computer? Can anyone else with the MacBook Pro (10.6.5) open these files, or are you having the same problem? 2. Is there a way that I can convert the files s that I can use them on my laptop? Also, I tried creating a movie (through iMovie) using these files. However, I cannot. Another note that may help is that these files were recorded on a Flip Vide Camcorder. I the downloaded them to my Windows desktop computer, and now I'd like to download them to my MacBook Pro. Also, if there is a program that can convert these files, I'd like one that s free. Please help me. Thanks

The problem is surely with your computer . It works fine for me.
Try google for any freely available Video Convertors, iMovie will not do you the job .
please clarify wether these files work in your windows machine, cos there may be a distortion in the mpeg files after processing in the camcorder.

  • VI logger crashes when running a task

I am using VI Logger Lite 2.0.1
I have created a logging task, continously sampling 1 analogue voltage channel at 100k samples/s.
When I click on 'test' in the task attributes/aquisition setting part it comes up with a trace of the data.
However when I click 'run task' after a second the program gives the error:

    Error code = -1967362023(0x8abc7019)
Description = Error -1967362023 occured at an unidentified location
    Possible reason(s):
Windows GetCommError:  The hex value of this code is x4000.
    Interpret it bit-wise as follows:
    x4000: serial port VI error
....it then lists about 15 other hex values of error codes their text explaination.
    Note:

I've also tryed lowing the aquistion rate, but that didn't help.

    Hi lukejc,
Any user that uses a logging task must have write access to the VI Logger Database. The default database is located under C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Tagger\database.  Most users won't have write access to this folder.  You need to enable write access to this folder for all users.  You can do this by right-clicking on the folder and select Sharing and Security, click on the Security tab, and select whichever group you're in (most likely the Users group), then check the Write permissions box in the Allow column.
With VI Logger Full, you can create a new databases where all users have read and write access. You do not have the ability to create/manage databases in VI Logger Lite, so you will need to upgrade to VI Logger Full if you wanted to use this solution.  The VI Logger Full product page can be found here.
    I hope this helps!

  • Can't write to temp directory

hi! i'm trying to install Oracle9i enterprise edition on a Windows XP Pro system. once i click setup, it gives me a message saying that the installer can't write to the temp directory?!
on checking the temp directory, i found that it's marked as read only, and there's no way i can't uncheck it, it just keeps coming back?!! even if i create a new folder and specify it as the temp directory, it is the same.
is this a problem with the Oracle installer or windows? cos i'm installing other softwares(from other vendors) and it's okay.
i am already having the full computer administrator rights.
    thx.

Can I somehow disable DM's awareness of the source control? That's in "Preferences>Extensions" - disable versioning support there. Still I won't recommend to save it over existing design - existing directories will be deleted including svn directories. It's safer to save the content in another directory and copy it back to versioned directory; also files that have older date should be removed from versioned folders.

    Hi,
You probably do not have access to the database for VI Logger.  Follow these steps to get access to the database.
Most users won't have write access to this folder. You need to enable
write access to this folder for all users. To do this, follow the
    following steps:
Open a Windows Explorer window and select the menu Tools»Folder Options
Check the last option called Use Simple File Sharing as the following image.
Find the database folder. If you cannot find it, you might need to show the hidden folders.
Right click over the folder and select Sharing and Security. On the Security tab add the user(s) you would like to have access to the database.
Make sure you check Full Access to the user. The following image is an example.
Also, for the error that you are getting, you might want to create a new database and see if that helps as well.
All of this information is given in the following document.
Why Do I Get "Engine Error!" in VI Logger When Logged in as a Different User?
    That should solve your problem.
