Work center to actvity element

Hi,
I have created 1 work center and assigned to activity and iam getting the plan cost.
If i assign the same work center OR any other Work center to Activity element, system is showing the error No cost were calculated.
Pls advise.

Hi Narayan,
The actiivity elements are used for the breaking the a activity into detail....
You can plan at both i.e at activity level or in activity elements...if you have planned at activity elements level the sum will be accumulated & displayed at the activity level...
For detailed planning we can breakup the activity into activity elements and assign the workcenter at the activity elements level. The activity elements shall be assigned with the work or duration as required.

    Hi Devi,
    Cost element is Classification of the organization's valuated consumption of production factors within a controlling area.
    Each cost element corresponds to a cost-relevant item in the chart of accounts.
    Primary Cost element & Secondary Cost element.
    Primary cost elements are like materail costs, personnel costs, energy costs... where a corresponding GL account exists in FI..to allow costs to flow...
    Secondary cost elements are like production costs, material overheads, production overheads, they can be created and administered in only CO.  These are used in internal cost allocation, overhead calculation, settlement transactions., it does not flow to FI...
    I don't think there is any link between Cost element and Work Center.

    I assign cost center the activity type in kp26
    In work center when i a assign the cost center not automatically seen in the activity type tab
    In the order creation when is assign work center am not able to see activity type in the bottom
    Where to do the setting

    In KP26 , You Have maintained Activity Type , Price for Activity Type & Cost Element , Not Cost Center
    After this In Work Center , in Costing Tab , You Have to Maintain Cost Center , Activity Type & formula.
    When u input this Work Center in Maintenance Order , you will get Activity type in Order

  • Report Painter Request - Cost Center and WBS Element

    Hi Everyone,
    Currently, my company settles all project related expenses through to a cost center by way of an internal settlement cost element (category 21).  The issue with this is that when the expense gets to the cost center, they lose all visability as to where the expense originated, such as salaries or travel expense (category 1 cost elements).  We can't switch the settlements to the originating cost element from wbs to cost center just because of the additional data/volume that will cause.  My thought was to create a report painter that can run by cost center but also show the wbs's that settle to that cost center and group the expenses by primary cost element (cat 1).  I'm assuming that there is a way to marry a cost center and wbs element by way of the wbs settlement rule but how would that be done for reporting purposes?  I've seen it done before by way of a nightly job that created sets based on the combination of cost center and wbs but I'm not sure how that was done.  Any advise and examples?
    Example:
    Cost Center:  IT
    WBS: A.0017.01.01 (settles to cost center IT)
    Postings made:
    1.  CC IT and CE 552000 "salaries"..............................$20,000
    2.  WBS A.0017.01.01 and CE 552000 "salaries"........... $5,000
    3.  Settlement of WBS to CC (expenses flow through to CC IT by way of CE 985000)
    I want to run CC IT and see that the account 552000 really shows $25,000 and can be broken down by cost object (CC and WBS by the amounts above)

    Hi Peter,
    I had a similar requirement and used report painter report group 1SHK-002 (in library 1VK).
    I took a copy of the standard and ameneded it slightly, I switched the explode so it occured on the cost center not cost element.
    The report runs so that direct costs on the cost center are shown at primary cost level. And values settled to the cost center are shown on the partner object. In your case i guess WBS Elements (Partner ObjType WBS).
    Now in my case I didnt need cost element breakdown on partner level, just on cost center so effectively I have(sorry for text alignment but I hope you get the idea):
    GL1   .............  100
    GL2   .............  250
    + Cost center1 total ....350
    GL3 .............   50
    GL4 ............. 100
    + Cost center2 total.... 150
    Primary Cost Total ..... 500
    X-YZ-1.200 .............   50
    X-YZ-1.400 ............. 100
    + WBS total ............. 150
    IO 1............. 100
    IO 2  ............. 100
    +IO total  ............. 200
    Partner Total............. 350
    Overall total .............  850.
    Its not exactly like your requirement but it might be a good report for you to work with to get what you need.

  • Creation of work center CR01 (error message in last page)

    Hi
    During creation of work center .After all the configuration being done ,in the last page the error message displayed is (ACTIVITY SET CAN NOT BE ALLOCATED TO 2009).
    Some of the major setting done in the last page is
    This is Costing Lab
    1) work Center
    2)Activity description (Like set up, Machine and Labouring)
    3)Selection of activity type
    4)Preferred Unit
    Per
    After this when i save the error message is displayed mentioned above  (Message number is KL008)

    Dear Rupesh,
    1. Please enter the CCtr categories value as "*" in the basic data tab.
    1)in KL02 for this particular activity type give as *
    2. Enter ATyp category field value ar "1" in the basic data tab.
    2) in the field A type mainatin -1
    3. Actl Acty Type Cat field value as "As in planning".
    in this field also mainatin as 1
    YOU MUST SPECIFY A COST ELEMENT FOR ACTIVITY CAT 1
    first creat a cost element in  KA01 (pramairy) & in KA06 (secondry)
    then asiign in KL02 for the required activity types

  • COPA derivation for thecombination of Cost center and Cost element/GL accou

    Hi Gurus,
    In COPA derivation using KEDR i am trying to make a derivation for the
    combination of Cost center and Cost element. Here i got following problems
    • While posting FI document using t.code FB50 system not automatically
    updating the fields Cost center and cost element in Profitability
    segment. Hence system not posting COPA document. How can i make this
    derivation? Is there any note should i apply regarding these.
    • How can i create cost element as characteristic.
    • If i configure derivation for the combination of Cost center and cost
    element will it be posted with copa document for postings or automatic
    postings from MM,HR and FI
    Pls provide me solution at the earliest.

    Thanks for update
    I explain my req clearly
    For me segment is Distribution channel field (EXPORT and DOMESTIC)
    If GL account is 1000-2000     always                      Export
    If GL account is 2001-3000    and Cost center is     X then Export.
    If GL account is 2001-3000    and Cost center is     Y then Domestic.
    Based on above REQ i am making derivation using KEDR T.code.
    These postings should work for all modules postings such as MM, HR also.
    Actually this should work automatically and after saving the transaction we should have copa document also.
    But problem is in source fields of derivation we have GL account (HKONT) and Cost element (KSTAR). I am making derivation using either of these.
    But after posting document system not giving COPA document.
    I found the reason is  at GL postings we are giving input to GL account (HKONT) but we took in KEDR source field as GL account (SAKNR). GL account (HKONT) is not updating GL account (SAKNR) field in PSEG screen in Fb50. Even i try with cost element (KSTAR), GL account (HKONT) is not updating this in PSEG screen in fb50.
    If GL account (HKONT) updates either GL account (SAKNR) or cost element (KSTAR) at the time of posting FB50
    Or
    If we have the field GL account (HKONT) as source field in KEDR i hope my problem

    I have A REAL URGENT REQUIREMENT as far as activity type and assignment to Work Center is concerned.
    I work for a client who is a manufacturer of Paint equipment. I'm responsible for capturing the cost of an assembly activity of spray guns, which is the last step of routing.  However, there are 4 processes/steps of routing which are outsourced to the subcontracting vendors. we recieve the facbricated, anodised guns which are assembled in our factory.
    I need to get the cost of assembly, which I have created as an actvity type in KL01 and planned for the same using KP26. However the system is throwing up errors related to costing, and I'm not sure about the assignment areas in work center.
    And above all I'm not sure of various fields in KP26 like capacity field and what do we assign.
    can anybody help me with the series of steps for me to be able to pick up the cost. or if there is any sort of material in this regards, plz mail it to: __ email removed by moderator

    Hi,
    You need to do the following:
    1) Create an Activity type for the Assembly activity.
    2) Define a Work Centre in PP (T-Code CR01) which represents the location where the Assembly is carried out.
    3) Define a Cost Centre corresponding to the above Work Centre.
    4) Plan for the Activity quantity for the combination of the Cost Centre and Activity type (KP26)
    5) Plan for the Overhead Costs which are incurred on this Cost Centre which need to be included in the Standard cost of the Assembly.(KP06)
    6) Assign the Cost centre & Acivity type to the Work Centre in CR02.(This is possible only after you do 5 above)
    7) Execute the Plan price calculation (T-code KSPI)
    After you do all of the above, when you do the Costing Run, all the relevant costs will be picked.
    Ofcourse all the relevant master data for PP like BOM, Routing with the relevant assignments of materials to operations, etc should be in place.

    Cost centers represent areas of responsibility where costs are incurred or where responsibility for costs may be assigned.  They represent the smallest unit of responsibility within the organizational structure of an enterprise.
    A cost center can be pictured as a ‘cost bucket’ such as a department, product line, production stage or geographical area. 
    An unlimited number of cost centers may be created.
    All cost centers within on controlling area have to be assigned to a cost center hierarchy (standard hierarchy).
    Costs originally posted to one cost center may be distributed and assessed to one or more other cost centers using allocations.
    How are costs assigned/posted to a cost center?
    External financial accounting documents created in FI, AM or MM that post to a G/L expense account can be configured to require a cost center assignment be entered at the time of transaction entry.  The system automatically creates a parallel CO document that posts to the indicated cost center.
    Cost elements master records can be configured to be posted to a certain cost center (automatic account assignment).
    In addition, other non-financial activity (i.e., direct labor hours) may be posted directly to cost centers from within CO or via other modules such as PP  or HR

    In Bex - Right now I am displaying Cost Center and Cost Element hierarchy with 12 months of data. I want to display the actual Cost center number next to cost element hierarchy - Can I display in Bex?
    Tried to with Structure creating formula variable for Cost Center using replacement path - didn't work. Can you please suggest me how i can achieve this?
    The format should be
    CostCenter H1   CostElement H1   CostCenter   Jan  Feb ...

    Let me explain it clearly and hope it is clear now...
    Designed the report as like this - Cost Center Hierarchy by Cost Element Hierarchy for 12 months of data. But Business agian search in R/3 for actual cost center numbers based on above two hierarchy nodes.
    I am trying to achieve this Bex instead of going back to R/3 - so that they can understand how the dollar amount is summed up on which major cost centers.
    If I remove the hierarchy on Cost Center - it will display all the cost centers. They want to see the Cost center numbers based on CC and CE hierarchy node so that you are displaying only those cost centers. That's the reason I am trying to design the  report with CC Hier, CE hier, Cost Center number and 12 months of data.
    In my data model - have only one Cost Center, if i can create another ZCOSTCENTER same as 0COSTCENTER - May be I can achieve this. still looking for options with out changing the design.

    Hi,
    1) You have to activate Change document indicator in the Transaction OP40 for the Workcenter categories.
    2) And for what are all the fields you wanted to capture the changes, for those data elements you have to ensure that change document is activated in the data dictionary.
    These are the pre-requisite for getting change documnets for the work centers.

    A work centre is a place where an activity takes place.
    The usage of work centre shall depend upon your work place, i.e. factory, shop etc.
    Usage of work centre is for scheduling, utilization, efficiency calculation etc..
    work center is created in CR01...
    But before starting the creation, the following are to be in the system, so that you can get a better result.
    Defien work center category using OP40.
    Define the person responsible in config or shoose the standard one if no specific person is not required.
    Task lists to be defined using OP45.
    Standard values using OP19.
    In Basic data enter Work Cenetr Category, Person Responsible, Location, And usage of machine are to eb defined.
    We can define standard vaue priority here. If we mention as should be enters, then that will be a compulsory field. .
    In Default values as per requirement we can put values.
    In capacities Processing fromual to be defined. Inside the subtab, we can give details of shift working, break times, capacity utilisation, factory calendar and all.
    In scheduling the Process Formula to be given.
    In costing field, we have to give the validity period of Machine, Cost center to which this machine attached, also teh relevant actvity types.

  • Capacity Leveling of Work Center

    Hi all,
    I have a problem with Capacity of Work center (WC).
    I have a Internal Activity, and i assigned a WC for this Internal Activity. WC's capacity is 100H/day for 1 number of element.
    Work of this WC is 250H, duration 5 days, number of element 1. Default capacity of this WC is distributed by Distribution Key define in Activity. . And they are divided equally between factory days in 5 day. That is capacity requirement is 50H/Day
    So, i want to edit this WC's capacity following value:
    Day 1: 100H/day
    Day 2: 50H/day
    day 3: 0H/day
    day 4: 0H/day
    day 5: 100H/day
    How can i do it?? I try to use Dispatch Manually but i cant solve this problem.
    Please help me for this case.

    Capacity leveling depends on some of the basic set up of Capacity Requirement Planning .You need to have proper CRP set up frist .
    Couple of check points : -
    Did you work centre is relevent for finitie scheduling in CR02-Capacity Header and wht is the over laod percentage for work centre ?
    Did you have Capacity Requirement Related Set up like Over all profile , time profile , Startegy Profile -OPD0?
    Did your Capacity Check -OPJK -Order Control at order level are active for availibilty Check 1 and 2 and assinged Over all Profile ?
    Set up :
    1.Please assing a operation control key like PP01 where Details Capacity Check and scheduling is active .
    2.In CR02-Work centre -Capacity Header -You should have Follow check box marked
    1.Releven for Finitie Scheduleing
    2.Can be used for multiple Operation
    3.
    3.OPU3/OPU5 -Define Scheduling paramter -Mark Scheduling and Capcity Check for planned order or production Order
    4.In SPRO -Shop Floor Control-Define Production Scheduling Profile -You need to matian the relevent Parameters like
    1.Schedueling Automatically 2.Scheduling Log 3.Adjust Scheduling -Basic date , Depedent Requirement date 4.Scheduling Type -Backward etc .
    These are all basic level set up beside CRP overall profile and other profile like strategy /time etc which may in place as you are analysing in CM01.

    How to dispatch operation to do Capacity Leveling at Work Centre Level :
    1.Frist Check the  over load at work centre . Goto -CM07/CM05-give plant only -then hit the Stnadard view -You will find weekly or daily baiss load ( Requirement , Avaliable Capcity , Overlaod etc )
    2.Check the week in which days you are tring to dipatch -if you selet the week check box and double clik it will show u all the dataiul load .Basde on the available capacity in other week-days u need to dipatch in CM22/CM31  or CM25/CM21
    While dipatching in CM22/CM31-Select the Stragegy button on the top header -Mark Date entry when dispatching  so that when you select the operation of any production order or planned order for certain work centre , it will pop with window having information of Date , Work Centre , Time .Onec you did this you will receive Scheduling log with certain information .

  • Transfer data after Network Confirmation to another Work Center?

    Hi all,
    let me explain my problem:
    I've defined an activity with 3 activity elements(work). Every activity has it's own Work Center.
    Normally a worker uses transaction CN25 or CN48N to enter a Network Confirmation by typing in Network, Activity and Element.
    After this he types in his Personell Number and the Actual days or hours and confirms it.
    If the user takes for example too much days and confirms it, normally i've to correct the Network Confirmation by using transaction CN29 and tell worker to retry his Confirmation. (Because there are only allowed maximum X hours...)
    Is it possible to transfer this too much days to another Work Center by using an transaction???
    Is it possible to transfer this entry to another Work Center???
    Im not a Cost Specialist, please let me note if there are any Threads which discribe the same Problem...

    thanks a lot for your answer.
    First of all... There was a mistake in my explanation-it's not I've defined an activity with 3 activity elements(work) it's  I've defined a network with 3 activity elements(work).
    In our Company every Activity has it's own Work Center. I meant the Identification and view selection in Project Builder (CJ20N) tab Internal --> General Section and here: Work center.
    Well, i think my main problem is that i do not know how to correct Network Confirmations without using the delete transaction CN29. For example: Worker confirms on Work Center of Activity A with CN25 oder CN48N, but should confirm on Work Center of Activity B.

  • Mapping Work Center to Internal activity

    Dear All,
    I have ceated the work center 1000 and mapped it to the plant 0001, Cost Center and Activity type. But when I map it to the Internal activity, there is an error message "Work Center 1000 0001 not allowed (Check).
    I have checked the control key, and also checked whether the planning indicator is clicked for respective WBS element. Relevant mapping is done.
    Still the error message is displayed. Kindly help.

    Open that error message, and check what it says under Procedure. and do as per that.
    Another thing, check what is the Work center cat. under basic data tab, it should be 0006 (project management)

  • Work Center specific Authorization

    Hi all,
    My specific requirement is we have 7 various plants and each plant having 2 work centers and planner groups like one is for Elect and other is Mech. Now my client wants that particular plant only have the authorization for its particular work center and planner group.
    Means if plant 1 having work center Elect1 and mech1, this plant is not authorize to make notification or order of plant2 work centers say Elect2 and Mech2. Is it possible? What am I suppose to do for that?

    Hi Anish,
    Nothing is required to be done by Functional Consultant. You just need to contact your basis team.
    You have to provide him role/profile for which you want to change authorization for auth object C_AFVG_APL.
    This auth object will have fields as below
    1) Plant
    2) Work center
    3) Action
    The following values are used for the actions:
    01: Create
    02: Change
    03: Display
    41: Assign PS texts
    42: Allocate materials
    43: Assign PRTs
    44: Assign activity elements
    You need to tell him for your role/profile - which plant, which work center and which action should be allowed.
    So accordingly user will have only those limited authorization.
