Working on projects on multiple systems

Hi, I have Final Cut Pro X installed on my iMac and I have a lot of projects and events on an external hard drive. I also installed FCPX on my macbook pro because I need to do some editing at one client's location. If I have my external hard drive plugged in my macbook pro and launch FCPX, I can see all my events but I can't see the project. If I close FCPX and browse my external hard drive to the "Final Cut Events" folder, I open any of the projects folder and double click on the file "CurrentVersion.fcpevent", it opens FCPX but I still can't see the projects.
Anyone can help me ?

You need to investigate working sets. These will allows you to group
your projects as you suggest. Try searching the help system for
"working set".

  • Working iWeb project on multiple macs

I have an iMac at work and a powerbook at home (i know, backwards). I have started building a site in iWeb at work and would like to be able to work on the project at both locations (home and work). Is there any simple way to do this?
I did find a suggestion to transfer a "domain" file from the one computer to the other, and presumably this would do it. But I have other iWeb projects on my home computer and do not want them to be overwritten either.
I tried to publish as a folder and then to open it in iWeb but--to my astonishment--there does not appear to be any way to open up files/folders... What could apple have been thinking?
If anyone knows a method for me to transfer the project to my other computer *without overwriting* my existing projects on that computer i would be very grateful.
    Many thanks,
    Mark.

Nothing gets overwritten as long as you don't give sites the same names. Moving the Domain file is how one uses multiple computers:

If the ability to open published html files is essential for you, best to use another app to create your web sites.

  • Simultaneously editing a project on multiple systems

We have two editors accessing the same project at the same time over our local network. Are there any pitfalls or landmines that we should be aware of?
    ======================
Name edited by moderator for clarity. "Premiere Pro CC" is a bit generic...

I'd say you're asking for trouble to work on the same project simultaneously on separate computers. You'll be better off working in separate projects and then importing sequences from one into the another.
Or else investigate Adobe's solution to collaborative editing: Adobe Anywhere.

  • IDVD burning one project on multiple macs? where are project contents?

How do I burn one project on multiple macs? I have a idvd project I created in keynote, added music to it in Garageband, exported to quicktime, and now is in iDVD burning just fine. However I have tons of these dvd's to make, I would like to put all my mac's to work.
last night i tried to share the file, and it is just an alias when i drag it over from the macbook it was created on to my imac. the file says it is in use and locked, since the macbook that created it is burning it. If I wanted to brun on the imac, I had to wait until the macbook was done.
is there a way around this? What if I copied all files I used to make the idvd project to my imac or any computer i wanted to burn on? woudl it hen allow two macs to be burning the same project?
I figured I could do this just like on my PC, drag the file over and voila...no such luck, its like if i had dragged a shortcut over to another pc...if the first one is using the file, its locked. Basically how do i get to the actual contents of the project, so I can also bring them over and hopefully it will allow me to burn on multiple macs at the same time?
my next solution if that didn't work was to start copying dvd's using popcorn on the other macs while the macbook continues burning through idvd.
Any opinions on how i can duplicate a dvd fast...need alot of copies!

Also as to where the files are.

  • Sharing a project with multiple RH7 users

We have a project that "we" shared by remoting into a server
that had one image of RH 5.
We've got multiple RH7 licenses (multiple installs on
separate machines). We cannot get into the same project. In fact, I
cannot even open a project and import that one.
It was decided NOT to purchase the RH Sever with RH 7 because
VSS would do the versioning for us.
We haven't set up VSS yet, so we aren't creating individual
images of the project files (which is how it worked in RH 5, with
inline versioning). I'm surprised that we cannot individually open
a project (even without others using it), nor can I even IMPORT the
files from that project to a new project. What am I missing?
The error is "Open project was cancelled or the application
was unable to load dabase for ....<fully qualified path to a
    .cpd file>
I've read numerous KB articles and have deleted, renamed,
compressed the .cpd file to no avail. I've tried opening the .hhp
file (which recreates a .cpd file).
Nonetheless, how are multiple users supposedto share in
editing project files. If each of us must have separate images of
the same topics...how do I "replicate" this in the testing phase
(we're in the process of setting up a shared/versioning system, but
don't have it yet. The only way we can get to the common project is
to remote in to the hard drive and work from the local install of
    RH7.

Hi annonnyma and welcome to our community
We have never been able to have multiple users simultaneously
accessing the same project by simply placing it on a server. The
way it works with a source control system is by having it stored
centrally on the server. Then the source control system handles
checking in and checking out by maintaining a "Working folder" on
your LOCAL hard drive. The end result is that each help author
actually has a full copy of the help system source files on the
server. As they work on different bits, they are actually working
locally off their C drive. At no point do you ever directly access
and edit the files on the server. The source control system handles
    copying them back and forth.
RoboHelp Server should not be needed for source control if
    you are using VSS.
So copy the project locally, then possibly rebuild the .CPD
and you should be good to go.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Diff between Project Landscape and System landscape

    Hai Gurus
    Explain the thread
    Thanks & Regards
    Srikanth

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm32/helpdata/en/62/afcc3a9e8d6526e10000000a11402f/content.htm
    SAP LANDSCAPE:
Landscape is like a server system or like a layout of the servers or some may even call it the architecture of the servers viz. SAP is divided into three different lanscape DEV, QAS and PROD.
DEV would have multiple clients for ex: 190- Sandbox, 100- Golden, 180- Unit Test.
QAS may again have mutiple clients for ex: 300- Integration Test, 700 to 710 Training.
PROD may have something like a 200 Production.
These names and numbers are the implementer's discreet on how they want it or they have been using in their previous implementations or how is the client's business scenario.
Now whatever you do in the Sandbox doesn't affect the other servers or clients. Whenever you think you are satisfied with your configuration and you think you can use it moving forward, you RE-DO it in the golden client (remember, this is a very neat and clean client and you cannot use it for rough usage).
As you re-do everything that you had thought was important and usable, you get a transport request pop up upon saving everytime. You save it under a transport request and give your description to it. Thus the configuration is transported to the Unit Test client (180 in this example).
You don't run any transaction or even use the SAP Easy Access screen on the 100 (golden) client. This is a configuration only client. Now upon a successful tranport by the Basis guy, you have all the configuration in the Testing client, just as it is in the Golden client. The configuration remains in sync between these two clients.
But in the Testing client you can not even access SPRO (Display IMG) screen. It's a transaction only client where you perform the unit test. Upon a satisfactory unit test, you move the good configuration to the next SERVER (DEV).
The incorrect or unsatisfactory configuration is corrected in Golden (may again as well be practised in the sandbox prior to Golden) and accordingly transported back to 180 (Unit Test) until the unit test affected by that particular config is satisfactory.
The Golden client remains the 'database' (if you wanna call it that) or you may rather call it the 'ultimate' reference client for all the good, complete and final configuration that is being used in the implementation.
    In summary:
Landscape : is the arrangement for the servers
IDES : is purely for education purpose and is NOT INCLUDED in the landscape.
    DEVELOPMENT ---> QUALITY -
    > PRODUCTION
DEVELOPMENT : is where the the consultants do the customization as per the company's requirement.
QUALITY : is where the core team members and other members test the customization.
PRODUCTION : is where the live data of the company is recorded.
A request will flow from Dev->Qual->Prod and not backwards.
    1. Sandbox server:
In the initial stages of any implementation project, You are given
a sandbox server where you do all the configuration/customization as per the companies business process.
    2. Development Server:
Once the BBP gets signed off, the configuration is done is development server and saved in workbench requests, to be transported to Production server.
    3. Production Server:
This is the last/ most refined client where the user will work after project GO LIVE. Any changes/ new develpoment is done is development client and the request is transported to production.
These three are landscape of any Company. They organised their office in these three way. Developer develop their program in Development server and then transport it to test server. In testing server tester check/test the program and then transport it to Production Server. Later it will deploy to client from production server.
Presentaion Server- Where SAP GUI have.
Application Server - Where SAP Installed.
Database Server - Where Database installed.
What is the meaning of "R" in R/3 systems?
R/3 stands for realtime three tier architecture. This is the kind of architrecture SAP R/3 system has.
R/3 means three layers are installed in Different system/server and they are connected with each other.

  • Fiori: incorrect alias used when multiple system aliases assigned

    Hello all and Masayuki Sekihara
I'm implementing SAP Fiori PO/PR/Contract approval.
There is only 1 gateway system currently in order to support 4 ECC systems.
    (Sandbox, development, quality and production)
Everything is working correctly when assigning only one (Sandbox) SAP system alias to the gateway service of PO approval for example.
However when we assign multiple system aliases and set the sandbox system alias as default things go wrong.
(Currently IW_BEP is not yet installed on the development; Quality and productive system)
And we noticed the service is resulting in an error message because these BEP function modules can not be found on the target system.
However the issue is that it should not call these systems as we have flagged Sandbox system as default.
Anyone has an idea or note for this?
(We temporary fixed this by assigning only a single alias to the services).
But in a later phase we want to add all in order to be able to test on all systems and run production as default.
    Thanks for your help.

I don't want to use the MOC.
I want the behaviour like mentioned in the note:
The default system is used whenever the service is not called as MOC. If you have defined more than one default system alias, the first system is used as the default.
    How can I achieve this?
According to my understanding now I should make sure ";m"o is not added to the URL, but how can this be achieved?
    Thanks!

  • Issue Saving Between Multiple Systems

Hi all, perhaps this has been answered before, but I'm not having much luck with my phrasing in order to find it, if so.
I work in a multi-station editing setup on a university campus, with three separate Mac systems sharing projects and footage/elements on a Titanium system from Small-Tree.
We've recently made the switch over from FCP 7 to Premiere CS6.  We've also upgraded one of our systems to a new iMac running 10.9.1 (3.2 Ghz Intel Core i5, with 16 GB DDR3) .  The system I'm on, as well as a third, older, MacPro are both running OSX 10.6.8.
Our problem comes from whenever we attempt to save projects.  When I create a project, it will allow me to save with no problem.  However, when we open the project on the newer system, clicking save gives an unknown error message, suggesting that we select 'Save As' and give it a different name.  So, "Student Involvement.prproj" has to become "Student Involvement VER2.prproj".
On the inverse, whenever I then go onto *my* system to open the "VER2" edition of the project, I can no longer save this new version, and must 'Save As' the original project.
I don't know if this is a problem with Premiere itself, or with Premiere working on two different operating systems between iMacs, or if it's a problem with how the new system is connected to the Titanium, etc.  I've asked this very question to the folks at Small-Tree, just to make sure, but I wanted to fly it past everyone here to see if anyone might be aware of any workflow or compatibility issues that would apply.
    Thanks so much,

Generally speaking, outside of the not-so-cheap Adobe Anywhere, PP doesn't always play nice with networks.  The recommendation is to keep everything local.  Use networks only for backup and transfer, but move everything to a local drive before working with it.

    Regards,
    Nithya.R

    Hi Nithya,
In case of technical upgrade you should work on
    SPAU (Support package adjustments) -
    SPDD (Support package Data Dictionary)
If you have applied any OSS notes to objects in your system, the hot package may overwrite these objects.
SPAU (repository objects), will identify any objects where the hot package is overwriting changes you have made through OSS notes.
You must check all objects identified in SPAU and decide whether you need to reapply the OSS note or reset the code to the original SAP Code.
If, for instance, you are applying hot package 34, SPAU identifies an object where you have applied an OSS note. You must check the OSSs note and see if SAP have fixed that note in a hot package.
If the OSS note has been fixed in hot package 34, then you should reset the object to its original source code. This means that there is no repair flag set against this object again and it is now SAP standard code.
If, however, the object is not fixed until hot package 38, or there is no fix available you have to reapply the OSS note, otherwise users will encounter the problems they had before the note was applied.
You must transport all reapplied notes and Reset to SAP Standard objects after you apply your hot package to your QAS and PRD systems.
Then comes the Zobjects. you have to check them using the TCode Uccheck.
You have to unicode enable all zprograms.
Correct the syntax errors related to this
Replace obsolete function modules like Upload,Download,WS_upload,Ws_download,...
with out changing the old functionality.

  • Trying to Sync Multiple Systems

I am having great difficulty with iSync across multliple systems. I will admit that this may be due to my own misconception about what sync is suppose to be so let me explain what I have, what I think should happen then what is happening:
    Work Setup: 1 laptop
Home Setup: 1 laptop, 1 desktop
    iPhone: of course ...
Having multiple systems is great. A corporate mac laptop keeps me on the move in the office, my private laptop provides me mobility out of the office and my home desktop is where I do most of my work while home. The home desktop has a couple web pages on it, so it is up 24x7. The two laptops come up for periods of time the go down.
Understanding: Turn on sync, settings to automatic, and when I make a change on any one of the systems, it gets immediately pushed to the cloud, to my phone, then back down to the other 2 systems I am not currently on.
Reality: every system fights for superiority over every other system. Every time one of the systems sync, it completely messes everything up. Here is a great example. Friday before leaving the office I created a Group calendar called "Work Group". I placed a couple existing calendars under this group and made a couple new ones. It appeared to sync to my phone OK so I believed all was well. When I got home I discovered that the desktop (which is on 24x7) had not updated based on the information obviously pushed to the cloud by my office machine (I say obviously because it did make it to my phone). When the synchronization did appear on the desktop, 2 of the work Calendars were moved into a new Group called "Group". When I checked on the cloud by logging into my mobile me account - I couldn't even recognize the format the calendars were online. Having to have brought my work laptop home for the weekend I looked at it and WTH? The calendars on that machine looked exactly like the calendars on my desktop before it did a partial sync. Now the work laptop fired a sync and it warned that there were numerous conflicts that had to be manually resloved. Surprise surprise, same thing on the desktop.
It would seem to me a simple thing to flag records that hand changed and Synchronize only those records updating the cloud. But, it appears that the entire calendar database is being pushed by every machine every time it synchronizes. So it is a push more than a sync. This is quite infuriating.
I find it hard to believe that Apple could have made such an egregious error in programming logic so I can only come to two possible conclusions. (A) My expectations and configuration settings are incorrect or (B) Apple is hiring Microsoft employees. God oh God please let it be (A).
    Can someone provide insight?

iSync is only for syncing Contacts and Calendars to non-Apple mobile phones via a local USB or Bluetooth connection.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/index.html
iSync does not sync anything between Macs, the iPhone, or to the MobileMe 'cloud'.
(The only connection iSync has with the above, is providing a UI to turn on system-wide syncing and to reset it.)
Rather than iSync, what you are using is MobileMe Sync, and the forum for that is here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=957
How you expect the syncing between multiple Macs and your iPhone is exactly how it should be working, and is designed to work. So something in your particular setup is not right.
I'd suggest posting in the above linked forum where all the MobileMe Sync gurus should be able to help.

  • UWL substitution with multiple systems

    Hi all,
I need some help in understanding how an UWL substitution works with multiple systems.
We are using ESS, MSS and SRM workflows and use UWL for all workflow scenarios.
All users are using ESS, all managers are using ESS, MSS and SRM.
In the UWL configuration we defined a role base connection to the backend systems. ESS users can only make a UWL connection to R/3 and not to SRM, manager can make a connection to all systems.
The problem occurs when a manager assign an other user (not a manager) to manage his of her tasks in case of absence. Because the manager also has the rights to make a connection to the SRM system, the UWL tries now to make this connection with this delegated user. Because the user has no rights to make a connection to SRM an error is generated and no tasks at all are displayed in the user’s inbox.
If we grant the user right to make a connection to the SRM system, also an error is generated because this user has no user account on SRM.
Is this a normal behaviour, we only want the user to manage all the managers tasks on R/3 and not on SRM because he/she has no authorisation to do so.
    Kind Regards,
    Evert Schuiteman

I think this will require a separate development as I feel the forwardind table HRUs_D2 stores only user Id and if you need to set som Personnel number as substitution then the devt. should take care whether any user Id is attached to the the PERNR and then set the substitution.
    Thanks

  • Premiere timeline won't redraw properly after opening project on different system

I've been seeing an issue (for quite some time now) where if I'm working a job on two different edit systems (usually with duplicate media or using a shuttle drive for mobile editing) that when I open the project on the "other" system the timeline won't redraw properly and looks like the attached image. The edit is there and the system will play the timeline but it's unusable as you can't work.
I've found that some combination of duplicating the sequence and/or quit and restart might fix it. Importing the sequence to another project will too. A talk about this on twitter with other editors who have seen this says a relink to the media will fix it. I used to think that was a problem of using Dropbox to store a PPro project files was the culprit but it happens when I use a shuttle drive to keep the same project on two computers in sync for editing on one or the other.
    Anyone else? Any solutions?

Yes, I have seen issues here in support when users transport their projects from one system to another via a portable hard drive. It's very weird behavior and I'm investigating the issue. What you might try is a different method of transporting those projects, like a different drive, etc.
I will add this issue to my report. Feel free to file a bug report here.

  • Are "working copies", "project files" and "editing files" the same thing?

    Hello.
I have just joined the Adobe Forums as a newbie starting right at the bottom. I am still unfamiliar with the terms "working copies", "project files" and "editing files".
I wonder if someone will help me to know the difference between these terms.
I have just started the Dreamweaver tutorial, "Creating your first website, Part 1: Set up your site and project files" (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_website_pt1.htm).
The tutorial read, "You've now defined a local site folder for the Check Magazine site. This is where you keep the working copies of web pages on your local computer.".
Are "working copies", "project files" and "editing files" the same thing?

    Murray *ACP* wrote:
Why would the raid level make any difference at all?  My data files are all stored on a RAID 4 system and seems to do pretty well.
    Murray *ACP*,
If I may elaborate on this,
being completely new to Dreamweaver, my reason for having wondered whether it would be a good idea or a bad idea to have these files on disks that are in RAID 0, was because the term project files in the Dreamweaver Tutorial had me thinking of Premiere Pro project files and the performance increase working with such project files in a RAID 0 setup, which (provided there is backup) is especially beneficial if you have large or complex projects, long time-lines and a tight deadline,
especially considering that as fill rates of disks go up, and as the number of disk activities on a disk go up, performance goes down, sometimes by 50%, and that the more tracks you have in your project, the more strain is put on your disk, and the more applications you have open, the more your pagefile is used, especially on systems with limited memory.
Therefore, as RAID 0 offers the best performance increase over a single disk,  I immediately thought of the concept of project files related to Premiere Pro when I came across the term project files in the Dreamweaver Tutorial, being unfamiliar with the definition of project files in Dreamweaver world, hence my need to define project files related to Dreamweaver with reference to disk setup and file management.
However, if I understand correctly, my conclusion is that RAID 0 is not necessary for Dreamweaver project files, since the local site is not disk intensive, unless you have a huge website to build ?
Also, if I understand correctly, in website design, you want to minimize local files and use your hosting company to store and retrieve info from ?
