Writing DVD works, until I eject and reinsert

I can use the burn folder, and it successfully burns a .mov to the DVD. It appears on the desktop. I can double click the file and the movie plays. Everything seems great. UNTIL I eject the disc. I can look at the disc and see that it is burned. But when I reinsert it, I get the blank disc dialog box.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

Another help source (if you haven't already done so).
Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

Your drive may need cleaning. Cleaning kits can be purchased from any store that sells CD/DVDs.

Audio stops working until I run and exit pacmd.

When I am using Banshee, I can play a song and there will be no audio until I open a terminal, run pacmd and exit it. The audio starts working after that until I try to select a different song. If the application goes to the next song no it's own there is no problem. I have tried removing the banshee-1 folder in case it was an issue with banshee.
This is a new problem. I used pulseaudio for over a month without any issue. All of the sudden it just stopped working, I have no idea what action caused it so I don't even know where to start.
I am totally lost. I don't even know what config files to post or anything. Please let me know what you need.

Wireless works until I try and secure it.

We have been trying to connect a new Sony Laptop to our new wireless router. The router works fine on our wired in desktops. The wireless works great if we do not secure it. It gets a full signal and connects easily, and assigns the proper IP address. When we assign a WEP code, it connects, but we only have limited connectivity, and the IP address is unusual. Under the IP address it says: Automatic Private Adress. Where is this coming from? How do we get it to assign the proper IP address when WEP security is on?

I found a solution! I purchased Hawking Technology's version of the faulty LinkSys product and Wah Lah! I configured the Hawking model HWR54G, (Wireless Router/Firewall w. 4-port switch), with exactly the same settings and guess what? WEP and DHCP worked first try and exactly as expected.
Needless to say I'm a disappointed with the LinkSys wireless firewall/router model WRT54G ver6.0 and will be returning it. I've had good luck w. LinkSys "wired" routers and switches but the WRT54G is a lemon.

Time Capsule 2TB was working until i disconnected and connected again.

Now the airport utility says "no configured AirPort base stations have been found."
And it has a flashing orange light.
I moved it from the house to another apartment.
I want to get back whats inside of the Time capsule, and back up again.

OK, newer laptops do not have an Ethernet port, unfortunately.
But i am conected to wi-fi on this device (computer) and my iphone.
Is this the Time Capsule WiFi signal, or does the complex provide a WiFi signal?
So internet is working.
So, you can connect to the Time Capsule WiFi and get an Internet connection on your laptop and the iPhone?
Or, does this mean that you are connected to another WiFi network (not the Time Capsule) and you have an Internet connection?

Isn't the iPod shuffle supposed to "mount again" if one ejects it, removes it and then re-insterts it again?
That doesn't happen for me. I have to restart or put my machine to sleep for it to be detected "a second time".

I got a similar problem, then I realized that iTunes was set to eject the shuffle after fill it, I unchecked that option and Shuffle remounted again..

Sync works until I close and reopen the browser. It forgets my account and I have to enter everything again.

Follow the instructions to uninstall then reinstall the Flash plugin then restart the Mac(s).

WDTV Live Medi Player - remote will not work unless I unplug and replug media player

Hi I know somebody may have answered this on another thread but I could not find it. I was wondering: Has anybody found the solution to the remote not working until I unplugged and replug the power adapter of the media player? It seems to me that something either gets reset in the unit to cause this and we just have to reset it by stopping the power from going to the unt and it somehow resets it back. I have the latest firmware on it, 2.0.32 I think. ansj64

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

You can try one of the CD/DVD cleaning discs but I doubt it will work. Your superdrive has probably failed.
you can have Apple replace it, for around $120, or buy any brand external DVD drive that connects by USB port and it will work with your Mac. Most cost around $30.

You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.

I will be working on my computer and all of a sudden it says, "Not Responding" and then I can't do anything until it decides to work again.

I have my home computer on every day, and as I'm working or on eBay or whatever, all of a sudden nothing works. At the top line on the computer screen it says, "Mozilla Firefox (Not Responding). It happens several times a day. I cannot do anything while it says that. Could be your work banned your particular MAC address or some such. Maybe they ran an analysis on network usage and type of use and found you to be a large consumer on their network. IDK what type network you are on or business you work at. I know it's been done before to curtail employee efficiency. Otherwise, you may need to speak to the administrator of said network.

My hp laserjet m2727nf will not work until i shut off power and power back on.

My laserjet will not work until i power off then power on after every printing job. It first started happening over the weekend when it sat idle for 2 days. Then it was once a day and now every time i need to print. What could be the problem?

So i didn't read anything about the suggestion about the configuration report?
I would recommand turning off wireless (if it has it), unplugging usb, unplugging network cable, unplugging fax cable. Then i would reboot the printer go to the Menu and in Reports try to print a "Configuration Report".
If it still doesn't print i would unfortunately then may be try resetting it back to factory default. perhaps there is some setting that is causing this issue. Also causes printer to fully reinitialize itself. There should be a button in the menu and setup to set back to defaults.
Let me know if any of that helps and what the results of trying to print an internal report are.
