X-Fi Fatality Champion + Creative Gigaworks S750 7.1 Speakers + Vista x

Current Computer specs:
Vista Ultimate x64 Retail
Core 2 Quad Q6600
GeForce 8800GTX
6GB RAM
X-Fi Fatality Champion (basically a platinum with Xram)
Gigaworks S750 7. speakers.
I have the above computer, with the latest (Oct st 07) X-Fi drivers.
I cannot set the card to 7. output mode. The option doesn't appear in the windows sound config, and if set in the Creative Audio Console it just switches itself down to 5. instantly.
Any known solution?

Step : Power down computer.
Step 2: Remove Creative card.
Step 3: Install competitor's sound card.
Creative's drivers are known to have issues in systems with 4GB or more of RAM. The Oct st drivers are probably the worst choice, so far. You could try the Auzentech drivers, but there is no guarantee it will fix your issue.

You will probably need THX console from your installation CD to remap your speakers.

  • Creative Gigaworks S750 speaker placement

    Hey Guys,
As I get deeper into how to improve the sound on my Gigaworks S750 I'm starting to experiment with proper speaker placement.
So far, I have the four floor stands for the side and rear channels.
And going by the book I have the side channels slightly past and behind where my ears are, and they are pointed toward each other, and not directly at my ears.
The two rear speakers are both behind me, but pointed straight toward the front of my room, and not directly toward my ears.
Is this how they are supposed to be? Or should the sides be right at my ear level and right to either side of my ears? Same with the rears? Should they be angled in toward my ears at my seating position?
The diagram in my manual doesn't seem to indicate that the speakers get angled toward the listener except the front center above the monitor.
But other sites all seem to want the speakers angled at the listener, unless these Creatives are doing something different to create the surround sound field?
Here's an industry diagram vs. the Creative manual.
Creative diagram for Gigaworks S750, unfortunately I can't scale it up larger, but refer to page 6 by scrolling down in the manual located at the link below.
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/14711901/C...ks-S750-Manual
So which is the most optimal for my speakers? I'm using option A for my setup in the Creative Manual right now, but just want to know what I should be doing to have the sound setup correct for these speakers.

  • Creative gigaworks s750 v/s logitech z5500

I own a creative audigy 2 nx sound card and looking for the best speaker system compatible with it
After reading the reviews at varoius sites i concluded that the best speaker systems available in INDIA are creative gigaworks s750(35000 RS. INR) and logitech z5500(25000 RS. INR),money is not a consideration all i wanna know which of these speakers is better for watching DVD movies. I am really in a delimma here as logitech z5500 has an inbuilt dolby digital and dts decoder.
can anyone suggest me what to buy PLEAZzzzzzzzzzzz.

The gigaworks sound a lot better or so they say. I've never heard either of these speakers, but in terms of sound quality everyone agrees the gigas are the best PC speakers money can buy.
There are some build quality issues with the gigas though. If you look on this very forum, you'll find that many people have had 3-4 defective units in a row and others have had the system fail a few days after the warranty ran out. What percentage of the total user base this is, is unknown, but the gigas are quite popular amongst discerning pc users.

  • Question about Creative GigaWorks S750 power supply

    Hi,
was wondering does the GigaWorks S750 comes with voltage switch? will I be able to switch between 20v and 220v? or is there a possibility to send it back to creative and have it switch to 220-240 voltage? Thanks!
    Chris

    Chris,
I'm afraid not, the Gigaworks doesn't come with any voltage switch. You will probably need to check out some voltage transformer in this case.

  • Creative Labs What Is Wrong With Your Manufacturing!!!??!?! RE: Gigaworks S750, XFI etc.

Ok this is a straight forward RANT! In building my new computer I decided to let Creative be my folks for sound since I've always been impressed with the EAX and surround sound, the first time I played EQ in 4.1 3D sound on a first gen SBLive card I was in awe. I've bought so many speakers and sound cards since and been happy. So I decide with my new computer I will buy the XFI Fatality, Progamer headphones with mic, and the Gigaworks s750 7.1 speakers. Well I got the headphones and the sound card first, right off the headphones left side sounded blown out to me, so I sent them back, and the new pair worked fine. The XFI card became the issue next I had the cracking and popping noises, I made a few tweaks and was able to kill most of it, but I have 4 gigs of Ram and when I turn on the memory hole in the bios so that XP Pro 64 can see the 4 gigs brings back the popping noises. So I have to turn of 2 gigs of ram that cost me over $300 so I don't have nasty noise when I play games. Oh yea and I sent the card back as well in hopes I'd get a repaired one.... No Such Luck... So then I get to my speakers, the left rear channel is making a sound like a blown speaker so I swap the plug with another channel and its fine and the other speaker in that channel makes the noise, so I send back the sub as a RMA at a cost of $30 to me (not like giving them $800+ for broken stuff isn't bad enough... nothing like salt on the wound.) So after 2 weeks of no sound other than headphones for my gaming, I get my sub back, I hook it up and.... Now the left rear channel is totally DEAD. So now I'm PISSED, I call up and hold it together when talking to the RMA folks. They offer to send me a whole new set of speakers, so I'm thinking cool, maybe its in a cable or the box or something.... Today I get home from work and see the box, I'm like sweet new stuff and spend a good hour carefully rewiring my whole desk with the new speakers and cables. Get it all hooked up and click on the sound test for the 7.1 and........ The Side Left Channel is DEAD WTF!!!!!!
!!! All I can say is it sucks there is no real competition for sound against Creative, because they know their product will be the demand and if they put out a poorly manufactured item they can get away with only so many people will even bother RMAing and will just live with it thinking they did something wrong. I am truly disturbed by this trend and can only hope that after I actually get everything working in 6 months or so if they ever fix the noise issue with XFI and maybe a few more RMAs of my sub to get one they TEST before sending it to me... I hate to say it but I think next comp I build I'm going to have to start looking at other sound companies. Its sad to lose faith in a company you hold in such high regards for so long as pioneers. Thanks for reading, oh and CL support persons that like to pop into a message and post an idea that most anyone with an IQ over 3 would have tried in the first 5 minutes of troubleshooting only to never revist the thread because your goal is the create the illusion of support on the boards by making a certain number of posts regardless for image sake, don't bother responding since due to my past experience with your phone support I know more about your products than most of you... • Rear/side speakers not working on GigaWorks S750

I have a Creative GigaWorks S750 7. sound system and a motherboard which uses Realtek HD audio.
There are four colored jack ports on the back of the sub, which are labelled:
    Green: Front
    Pink: Center/subwoofer
    Black: Rear
    Grey: Side
There are six jack ports on my motherboard:
Yellow,Blue, Black, Green, Grey and Pink.
The cable that came with the sound system has four jacks on one end, and three on the other.
On the four-jack end, they are Green, Yellow, Black and Grey (so they match up perfectly to the sub, presuming the yellow jack goes into the pink jack port).
On the three-jack end, is Black, Yellow and Green
I have plugged the three-jack end's jacks into the Black, Yellow and Green jack ports on my motherboard.
Everything is now matching. I also have Windows and the Realtek HD Audio Manager set to 7.1.
The front left, front right, front center, sub and back right work fine. However, neither of the side speakers or back left work.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Kingmustard,
It's recommended to find out which colored audio jack is used for the front, rear, side & center/subwoofer for the Realtek HD audio. The motherboard manual should have this information. Depending on the configuration, you may need a 4 to 4 cable instead. Our default 7.1 connection setup with our Creative sound cards uses the supplied 3 to 4 cable.

    Hy
I have the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatalty and I'm about to buy the Creative Gigaworks S750.
But first I really need to hear some opinions about it, because I really hate to buy something that I don't know if I'm going to like.
I'm asking opinions about this because I asked in other forums and almost all of them say that the Logitech Z-5500 would be a better choice. I don't know why, maybe because I have a creative's sound card, I really like more the S750.
    Please, post your opinions ...

the gigaworks s750 is a great speaker system but there are some problems with it that need to be fixed. the best way to prevent any problems is to remove the amplifiers from the subwoofer box and put them in their own box. This is a problem that is known and Creative has not made a permanent fix for. If you do not want to take apart the subwoofer box then you will most likely run into a problem with the speakers and have to send them in for warranty work if the warranty is still good. As I said before the speakers are very good and you cannot beat them for the price but there is a problem that needs to be addressed and creative has not done that so you would have to do it your self if you buy the speakers.

  • Creative Gigaworks up in smoke, suggestions appreciated

My neighbors house was hit with lightning which apparantly traveled the phone lines and knocked out my DSL modem, motherboard, and my Creative Gigaworks S750.
The Sub has a flashing green light and the control pod has no power at all. Replaced my modem and motherboard, the rest of the components are fine so far.
I'm assuming my sub is toast but wondering if I have any alternatives vs replacing the whole system.
The 7 speakers are still good right (I assume)? The sub is fried I'm sure and maybe the control pod? Any suggestion would be appreciated on alternatives.
I've tried the standard leave it unplugged and plug it back in but no go. Thanks

    Hi,
    Sorry about that.
    1. The limited hardware warranty doesn't cover accidents or "act of god". So you are better off buying a new system.
    2. If you are familar with electronics, you might want to open up the system and test the components one by one to replace those damaged parts. There is a discussion thread on repairing S750 here.
    3. If troubleshooting isn't your thing or it's too tedious, you might want to contact a third-party repairman to get it repaired.

  • XFI Fatality Gamer + GigaWorks S750 + Decoder DDTS-

    Dear Sir,
Im using XFI Fatality Gamer + GigaWorks S750 + Decoder DDTS-00 ( just bought it ) and the question is I feel no difference ( Dolby Digital and DTS Effect ) when I'm not using the Decoder.
    What I've done is I already :
Connect cable from my soundcard to switch box and then another cable I connect it from my Gigaworks to switch Box. And then from the switch box it self I connect it into the decoder. All the cable im using is the standard from Creative. I haven't used any coax or optical cable.
Looking forward and really appreciated for the assistance.
    Many Thanks.

To connect your Soundblaster NX to your DDTS-100 decoder, and let the decoder handle the DD/DTS decoding, you have to connect a digital/optical/coax cable, from the digital output of the NX, to one of the digital inputs on the decoder.. Also make sure you have set the settings on the souncard, to "digital output only", so that the decoder can decode the encoded digital streams, sendt by the soundcard..
if you want to connect your soundcard to the decoder via analog cables, and let the soundcard do the decoding it self, you will need to use a 7.1 analog-audio cable, that comes with both the decoder and the speaker system. Connect the audio cable from the analog output on the soundcard, to the input "switch-box", and set the switch-box to "PC-audio". Also make sure you have connected your speakers to the "switch-box".

  • Is this a genuine gigaworks s750 system?

A little over a month ago I purchased a GigaWorks S750 system from Dell, which arrived in a regular brown box with Creative's logo, pictures of the S750 and black writing on it. It looks fine. Recently however, I observed that all the pictures I ever saw of the S750 always showed the shipping package as a multi-colored box. Plus, some of the wording on the box I received are a bit different from what are on the multi-colored box.
Just out of curiosity, I e-mailed Creative about this and they replied stating that all S750 systems are indeed shipped in Creative's multi-colored box (orange/white with blue writing on it). They advised that I should contact Dell about this since Dell might have shipped me a refurbished S750 system.
I contacted Dell by telephone about what Creative had said and they told me that first of all, they do not refurbish third party products and second, although I ordered the product from Dell, the S750 was actually shipped from Creative's warehouse. (Product was actually shipped from a company named Tech Data Corp., Technology Drive, Swedesboro, NJ 08085. Country of origin: China. Manufactured date: 0/28/05).
Please note that I have not even hooked up the system yet. In view of the innumerable amount of problems people are having with the S750, I think I should first get some explanation about this discrepancy.
Am I the only one this has happened to I need to know whether this is a genuine GigaWorks S750 system or is it a fake, a refurbished set or whatever. I really need to know just to put my mind at ease.
    JC

    JC,
I have seen S700 and S750's shipped in brown boxes so I would not worry. It may be that since these were for a third party a brown box was decided on as the packaging. I am not aware of any "fake" S750's so I think you are safe.

  • X-Fi Fatality Champion 7.1 wont detect my 7.1 speak

    hello,
i reinstalled my PC yesterday, and i've been installing all drivers and such...
along with them my x-fi fatality champion soundcard.. here comes the problem
after installing the drivers and the startup console, i wanted to configure them, as i did when i build my computer
but somehow the console wont detect my 7. speaker system (i have a creative inspire T7900 7.)
i tried my cd, i tried updating drivers, i tried standalone drivers (all from creative website ofcource)
but nothing seems to work.. tried about 0 times now.. it only detects 2. 5. and headphones.. if i select 4. or 7. it just flips back to 5. or 2. ...
just time i got the program to detect 7., but as soon as it did... no sounds were playing anymore..
the only sound i was getting out of my speakers was the sound of my own voice if i spoke into my microphone
    in 7. though >.<
can someone please come up with a solution for me? as id like my 7. sound back!!
    maybe good to know
Vista 64 bit OS (it has worked before, so it should now!)

  • My Gigaworks S750 system distorts when i turn up the volume... Please Help Me

My Gigaworks s750 has been stuffed from day . It's about a year old. How is it stuffed? turn up the volume and some speakers distort. Its not the speakers, i tested by swapping them around, so the amp in the sub is stuffed. Can i pay creative to fix this? any ideas on cost? If not can i take out the AMP and buy one and plug that into it to replace the broken one?
    Thanks!
    Regards, Mortagen

You're right, it's over my head. I have no understanding of bitrates being sent too fast to the subwoofer, perhaps your brother can break it down into layman's terms for you and then you can enlighten us. With regards to Creative charging you $200 to fix it, it sounds like you've already sent the speakers to Creative. As I understand it from past experience and from what others have posted, Creative never quotes a repair charge until they have had an opportunity to diagnose the system to determine the level of repairs needed. That, of course, would also conflict with Creative's more current policy of not doing any out-of-warranty repairs at all, and not providing any support for any product that is out of warranty.
The crackling that you're hearing is probably there at all levels, you may just need to turn it up to the 50% or above level for it to be noticable. If this is an issue that has just exhibited itself in the last 6 months or so, there is probably a loose or fatigued connection someplace. The most likely is probably one of the 3.5mm female jacks on the subwoofer, or a wire that may need to be replaced.
    andrewc289 wrote:
I posted about the same issue. It is not normal distortion, most likely a bad amp. I am looking into how I can fix this myself also since creative wants over $200 to fix a product that broken because of their poor design.
Check out the thread that involves repairing the sub, it may be a little over your head though.

  • GigaWorks S750 7.1 - Interference and Volume issue

    Please provide assistance,
I recently purchased a the Gigaworks s750 along with Creative's Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS.
Here is the problem I am encountering:
When using it for any type of audio, DVD playback being the worst, I get a great deal of interference when turned up past 50% volume on the Gigaworks controller. And to get any sound, I have to have the volume of the controller connected to the sub at a minimum of 50%. If there is no audio, when turned up the interference is totally unbearable.
I have the audio on my PC turned up to 100%, and this goes for every form of audio controller on my PC. If any one of these audio controllers on my PC are turned down, I get very little audio out of the speakers at all?
Is there anyway to get rid of this noise? I would like to have my DVD movies or games with the ability to play at a reasonable volume and be able to hear the fine noises that make a surround sound system worth purchasing. At this point when turned up, 80-100% of volume on sub volume controller, I get so much interference that the only time I can hear decent quality sound is when the sub and music are loud enough to cancel out the annoying interference?
    Please help?
    Sincerely,
    Poor creative customer

I would recommend the G550W if you don't want to risk the S750, I have an S750 set, had to have the sub replaced a single time, but was no trouble at all and only took like 4 or 5 days for the new one to arri've, sets been running perfect for more than a year now
