Z10 activesync issue

Hi
I have anew z10 on vodafone in the UK. I'm trying to get activesync working to a rackspace hosted exchange 2010 environment.
When i first set up the connection it appears ok, emails are shown, calendar is populated, but after a few minutes it all claers and mailbox shows "No entries in this view" and calendar is empty.
I can use activesync to the same backend on an iphone ok, and I can get Imap mail, but at the moment no push and no calendar sync.
Any ideas please?

I have the same issue.  I am using Sherweb Exchange Hosted 2010 and a Z10 BB.  The activesync doesn't appear to work properly as I also notice that if I read something on the phone, a few minutes later when it sync's again it shows that it isn't read (likely due to it not showing read on the exchange server.)  It kind of appears like the BB handheld doens't have permissions to update things on the exchange server's end, and can only update the handheld with what is current on the exchange server.

  • ActiveSync Issues - Emails remain unread on iPhones after marked as read in OWA/Outlook

    Environment:
    Exchange 2010 SP2 CU4v2
    iPhones with IOS 6.0+
    Background:
We've spent a couple weeks troubleshooting this since the vast majority of our users are not experiencing the email synching issue with their mobile devices. However, we have a few users that are remote (international) saying that activesync is not properly
marking mail as read when initially interacting with it via OWA/Outlook.
The problem isn't regularly reproducable -- it's sporadic.
    There are two issues really:
The mail icon indicates X number of unread messages, however when navigating into the mailbox on the phone, nothing is "unread" -- There is only one mailbox -- there is no confusion about unread mail being in a different account.
Mail marked as read in OWA/Outlook never gets marked as read in the mailbox on the iPhone.
    Steps Taken:
We've had them remove/readd the activesync account on their device, which initially solves the problem only for it to resuface.
We've asked them to change their activesync settings between Push, Fetch, and Manual.
Messages marked as unread always remain unread unless manually opened on the phone. No additional amount of time marks the message as unread unless it is manually opened on the phone.
We've asked users to try interacting with mail through wifi on a reliable network instead of their cellular network. Same results.
We don't have any other mobile devices to compare to since everyone is using an iPhone. If only someone had windows mobile.
Our thoughts are that this is due to some sort of latency issue that activesync is unable to handle, since only these remote users are experiencing the issue. Using in-office wifi the latency between their device and the CAS server is ~250ms. Over cellular
networks.. unknown. I would think the activesync could handle this.
Are there any server-side settings that can be changed on the exchange servers that could mitigate these problems?

Im sure more knowledgeable members will chime in here, but I would say the issue is in ios 6.0 here. The way to test would be if users on previous verison of ios have the same issue. There are various discussions on apples forums regarding ios 6.0 and activesync/
exchange. Myself personally I have not updated to ios 6.0 and im still using 5.1.1 and Ive not had any exchange/activesync issues. Being a windows user you tend to hold off on major updates / SP releases until the rest of the masses have discovered the flaws.
Likewise i cant say im keen to jump to ios 6.0 just yet.
    Good read here :

Out of interest what happens if you read the email/delete it from the phone ? does it show as being read within Microsoft Outlook ?

I had the same problem.  Here is what worked for me.  Open the mail app and delete your exchange account (Settings > Delete Account).  Then re-add your Exchange account.  After this my Exchange contacts showed up again.

  • ActiveSync issue

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with activesync on the z10. We dont use Microsoft Exchange for Activesync, instead we use a mail server called "IMail Server", which also supports activesync. All of the iphone users are able to connect with no issues at all, and those with older blackberries running the activesync client "notifysync" are fine too.
When I try connecting it seems to go through and prompts me what i would like to sync, so I choose everything, but it only seems to sync the contacts. The e-mail and calendar never sync up. after about 20 or so minutes, I'll get a message in the blackberry hub regarding my work activsync account. The message says, "not connected - account invalid" and "your account is no longer synchronized with your device. check that your account settings are correct. if they are correct, contact your email service provider. "
can you please let me know how to fix this issue, if it all possible. I just dont understand why IPhones and the older blackberries will work, but not the new z10.  I can't seem to find a tech support number for blackberry (RIM), which is unfortunate....
    Thanks.
    -Reeko

Ah...OK...already the Advanced screens...OK...again, it may be that you've found an incompatible email server configuration for one reason or another. It'll take real deep diagnosis and perhaps packet tracing to figure out why...your various admins may be able to do that on their end to see what they are receiving from the Z10 that they don't like.
    reeko wrote:
Oh I didnt know that, I find it strange that they wouldn't talk to end users.
It's the way it's always been. They use a distributed support model, one that puts the carriers and authorized resellers (and, in some regions, service centers) in charge of first level support to their specific user base (with escalation channels up to BlackBerry available if needed). On one level, it makes sense...put support closest to the customer as possible (no end users are customers of BlackBerry -- contractually, they are customers of the carriers). There are plenty of threads on this site debating the merits (and, in some opinions, de-merits!) of the support model...but that's all just academic IMHO. Everyone is bound (contractually) to the support model as it exists.
    reeko wrote:
Who do you think would be my formal support channel to go through?
Either the place you obtained your Z10 from or perhaps your carrier (Telus, according to your profile here). Maybe even both. Whoever is willing to a) listen to your case and b) escalate it up to BlackBerry so that it can receive formal attention.
    reeko wrote:
Are there any other tips you can offer me? I'm not sure what else to try.
Nothing beyond what I've already provided...packet tracing by your network guru's might be the best option. Also be sure to have created a brand new account on the email side and try with that...just to be sure it's not some holdover from perhaps a more legacy email account. (Honestly, I'm just guessing...)
    Good luck!

  • ActiveSync issue when roaming

So far we had five users with BB Z10 and Q10 who were traveling internationally have experienced issue while accessing email. All the users were setup via Active Sync for corporate emails. Once they land to their final destination which has been China, Australia and Colombia. They will receive 4G or 4g connectivity but no emails. They will be receive their personal emails like gmail, yahoo, etc but no corporate emails. It will take about 20 minutes before they start seeing corporate emails. After about an hour or so the device will stop receiving emails. The only fix is to manually remove email corporate email account and re-add it on the device. Once we are resetup the account then everything works normal throughout their stay.  We are running exch 2007. Z10s are running 10.1.0.2006 build and we are on T-Mobile network. Has anyone experience similar issue ?
    Thanks,
    Bhavik

    Hello Bhaviksom,
Have a look at the 2 possible causes to this issue along with the 2 possible resolutions.
    Cause 1
The Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox policy has the value "Allow Direct Push when roaming" set to no
    Cause 2
The email profile assigned to the BlackBerry smartphone in the BlackBerry Device Service has the value "Manual Sync while Roaming" set to yes
    Resolution 1
There are two ways to resolve cause one:
One the BlackBerry smartphone select the settings icon from the home screen
    Select Accounts
Select the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account
    Select Advanced
Toggle the option for Push off and back on again.
To avoid all BlackBerry smartphones having to sync manually while roaming, the option will need to be changed in the ActiveSync Mailbox policy on the Microsoft Exchange Server. To perform the action do the following:
    Open the Exchange Management Console
In the console tree, navigate to Organization Configuration > Client Access
In the result pane, click the Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies tab, and then select the policy you want to view or configure
In the action pane, click Properties
    Select the Sync Settings tab
Change the value for Allow Direct Push when roaming to Yes
    Resolution 2
If the BlackBerry smartphone has an email profile which is pushed from the BlackBerry Device Service the option "Manual Sync while Roaming" will need to be changed to "No" in the email profile which is assigned to the BlackBerry smartphone.
Open the BlackBerry Administration console for BlackBerry Device Service
Expand Email profiles under BlackBerry Solution management
Select Manage email profiles under Email profiles
Select the profile and click Edit profile
Change the option "Manual Sync when roaming" to no
Let us know if this helps. Have a good day..

  • ActiveSync issue for a single user

    Hello,
We are finishing a migration to Exchange 2010 from 2007.  Everything is connecting fine so far for all users except one.  This user is the owner of the company, and a long time ago, like more than 20 years, instead of creating a copy
of the Built-in administrator account, he renamed it for himself.
Anyway, he is the only user that is unable to connect via ActiveSync.  The event viewer on the Exchange server says "User '[email protected]' cannot synchronize their mobile phone with their mailbox because Exchange ActiveSync has been
disabled for this user.   But of course, in the EMC, it says that he is enabled, and I ran the command in the Management Shell to ensure it was enabled.
I did some research and found that checking the Include Inheritable Objects is supposed to help with this, but I did that and it still didn't work.  It also became unchecked again after a while.
I'm not sure where to go next at this point.  Every other mailbox on the server ActiveSyncs no problem.  It's just this one.
    Thanks.

Create a new AD account for him that isn't a member of any built-in admin level groups and disconnect the existing mailbox and reconnect it to the new AD Account.
Mail Enabling the admin account is just not going to work well in 2010/2013 or beyond and its not a good security practice to use it except for elevated tasks. Hopefully the owner appreciates that.
You could mess with the AdminSDHolder stuff and allow the ActiveSync partnership to be created but I highly recommend against that.

When customer configures the ActiveSync account on Apple Mail (using Exchange Server 2010 CAS array name) for the user whose mailbox is on Exchange Server 2007, they are not able to get any mail and account displays offline. Hi Akebono,
Let's check a few things in your server:
    1. From the Organization Configuration - Client Access - Exchange Activesync policies - Default: Verify if the option "Allow non-provisionable devices" is ON.
    2. From Server Configuration - pointing <YourExchange2010> - Certificates: Verify if your SSL certificate is assigned to IIS. (You should also be able to see this certificate from OWA https session)
    3. The problem may also reside in iPhone outdated software, try to test activesync connection from iPhone with the latest OS version.
    4. Take a look at logs in C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1\ of Exchange 2010, those might give some more details on connectivity problems.
    5. If you still experience such problems - post the ExRCA error report here.

  • Z10 encoding issue in outgoing email

Hoping someone can help me. I've been an avid bb fan for years and my husband and I both handed in our bonds a week ago to move to the z10. We are both loving it. While my husband has had no issues with his I am very close to having no issues - except for one major one that affects me and my clients greatly. I have 2 email accounts - gmail (working without any issue at all - was up and running within a matter of minutes of receiving my z10). The other however has not been a fun or even manageable experience. My work email is web based and took a few days for me to even get it up and running. With my bold I was able to connect via Exchange but am no longer able to do so. I was told to connect via Active sync however my employer does not have this functionality and it is not supported. Following that I was told to connect using either IMAP or POP. And while I have been finally able to connect and receive my email when I SEND email it is a disaster!!!!! My out going mail seems to be adding in all of the encoding and so it becomes "unreadable" for lack of a better term. I have no idea where to turn on this. I have been constantly surfing and searching and and all forums that I can in hopes to find a resolution but have not yet found one - this is my last resort - otherwise sadly ....... Very, very sadly I will have to return my phone. Any suggestions at all would be much appreciated! Sorry for the "long-winded ness"

Wow lesedwards.. you are on fire. Jacking your issue into every email thread and getting **bleep**ed constantly.
This thread was about an encoding issue, and from your other posts you are simply having connection issues.

  • Plastic Z10 Screen Issue Report

When I took the plastic off of the screen on my Z10 there became a noticeable adhesive thin film that made the screen look as if there were areas of bubbles under the screen.
It became noticeable once you had finger prints. Brought to a mobile store and the guy there sprayed a solution to clean it. But soon as I used it again those bubble like marks reappeared under light.
How I removed that thin film of adhesive coating was that I took a Lenspen that is used for cleaning my DSLR lens it uses graphite and it removed all that glue like film.
This is obviously a packaging issue. Where the plastic protective covering the screen should not leave such a film. Hope this helps somebody out there.
Oh for those who want to really clean their Z10 camera lens get yourself the Lenspen kit that comes with a smaller Lenspen works great. Hope this serves you well.

  • Z10 browser issue

    Hello all,
Big issue for the last 4 days.
    I am on BB10, Z10, Model STL100-1, 10.2.1.2977, OS- 10.2.1.3247
My personal space browser suddenly stopped working. checked online, many have faced this issue and solutions involve deleting history etc but all that is not an option in my case since i am unable to access the menu items , the 3 dots don't work. neither does typing any url or the new page button etc. its completely frozen.
while one browser doesn't work , even if i use another app to open a link in the browser, the work browser on work space works perfectly fine.
After much reading and doing both soft and hard  resets - restarts and taking battery out  etc i decided to replace the existing sys.browser file (blackberry's file for the browser) as there is no other way to reset the data/cache in the browser. so,
    1) i replaced the sys.browser file (original - came with the last and latest software update 10.2.1.3247) with a 10.3 browser from the crackberry forums. the work browser was also replaced understandably which confirms that the browser file is the same for both instances albeit with different settings/bookmarks etc . so this file also doesn't work in the personal space . still frozen, but when i open a link using a third party app then the browser starts working while that link is open. as soon as this instance is closed, the browser goes back to its frozen state.
    2) i search further and found a stable , recommended 10.2.2 browser. same issue as above with that too.
    3) downloaded a 10.1.0 version browser too, didn't work at all, just a black screen. i tried then both internal phone updates and blackberry link to update the phone - well hoping that while the phone os hasn't changed but since i had downgraded its browser i wondered if it would update the browser to an original one , fresh and all.
    4) sadly nothing works, the interesting part being while the version and file size of the actual sys.browser bar file changed, the cache size remained the same.
    5) i have for the meantime again installed the frozen 10.3.0 browser as stated in (1) ; while it is frozen it does atleast one thing better than others, without harming the work browser.
    6) i am a little concerned and apprehensive of having bar files on a personal device from total strangers especially with all security issues and hackers at large.
So i am looking for either a solution to the above problem with a stable browser for 10.2.1.3247 . i do not want to do a full reload of the software since that is a waste of time - considering the setup of all apps and other settings. don't want to go for that route. I also cannot wait until 10.3.1 whenever that is released officially since that could take months form now.
    Please help .
Note: for the above a chrome extension which lets sideload .bar files or .apk files was used. its highly recommended and pretty neat and stable for such tasks.
All other apps work, so does everything on the work space including browser enterprise IM and emails.

I really tried to find info for your issue but could not, sorry.

  • Autodiscover-SSLCert-Activesync Issue

Hello. I have odd issue. So first of all we are on Exchange 2010 and have host our email and that of 2 other companies. The other companies mailboxes are setup in our domain but we change their SMTP alias to that of their domain name. We then setup their
Outlook to point to us via Outlook Anywhere using our OWA address (owa.mydomain.com) and set their phones up for activesync with the same address. Now, we do have an external autodiscover namespace for our domain and one for one of the other domains and that
domain along with ours auto discover.mydomain.com and theirs auto discover.theirdomain.com are both on our SSL cert, these are both A Records. The third company does not have an external auto discover namespace setup nor is that on our SSL Cert.
    So a couple of things.
First, why are we having to manually type in the server when setting up email on phones for the two companies that have auto discover namespaces (shouldn't auto discover do this automatically)?
Secondly, how can I setup the third company to use this without having to add an additional entry to the SSL Cert?
Now the weird thing, for some reason the second company (the one with the autoautodiscover namespace), if I remove their external autodiscover.theirdomain.com namespace then all of their Outlook client start throwing up a "Allow this website to configure
server settings" and it is some other namespace like cpanelmaildiscovery.cpanel.net or they get the SSL Cert message :The name on your SSL Cert is not same as" and it lists some other namespace. You get that same type of thing when setting up the
phones with their external namespace in place too, but not in Outlook, only when you remove the external auto discover.theirdomainname.com entry. All of this and the third company with no external autodiscover namespace and no entry to the SSL Cert does not
    have this problem.
If someone can help me make heads or tails out of this mess I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

The following is the answer to both your questions, I think.  For autodiscover for someone in, say, company3.com to work, the ActiveSync client needs to be able to contact autodiscover.company3.com, which will point to the server they connect to.
If you have configured company1.com on the certs for your Exchange servers, the client will fail on this step, and you will need to manually configure the server.  For autodiscover to work properly for all companies you host, you need to have your certificate
configured to support all of them.
So, to support the three companies you host, you need autodiscover names for each on your certificate - and a wildcard cert won't work, since it's for a single domain.  You need autodiscover.company1.com, autodiscover.company2.com, and autodiscover.company3.com
    on your certificate.
As for your "weird thing", I think I'd need more detail of what is on your certificate SAN and what your SMTP namespaces are before I'd be able to guess why it does and doesn't work.

  • Z10 email issues with Groupwise

Hi - I have had the Z10 for a few weeks.  Overall like it - a few things aren't easy to find.  On the old BB you had an area in email options that read "reconcile" where you could make sure if you delete something from your handheld, it would go out of your Groupwise mail on your computer too.  I can't find this anywhere with the Z10 - anyone know how to get it to sync?
Also, have had issues when I respond to friends on handheld - write the message and hit send and they get the header from me but nothing in the email - it is blank.  This happens frequently.  Is this happening to anyone else?  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

It should reconcile by default, there is nothing to change on current OS, maybe with 10.1 whcihc is coming soon

  • Z10 upgrade issue

    Evening All
I just got my Z10. I went to the software updates, and the first one downloaded and installed fine, all 148MB.
THe second upgrade it came up with to go to 10 OS version 10.0.10.90 downloaded fine, all 760MB of it. IT then installed, but only got to 97% and failed. I thought, OK, so tried to update again, and it downloaded the full file again, no problems, but again failed at the 97% mark.
Now the software update section says it has a update, but it it 0MB, and does not do anything. It wont let me cancel. I have tried powering down, and then restarting, it then says update failed, but nothing changes, I cant try agian or cancel the update.
Help. This is only my second blackberry, but I do like it, BBM is awesome :-)

    Hey nsc79,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest trying to perform the update through BlackBerry Link.  Attach the BlackBerry Z10 to your computer and you'll see a red star appear at the bottom where it shows your BlackBerry Z10 is connected in BlackBerry Link.  Click on that and choose install update.
This might take a few minutes longer but it will sure the update will go through.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Z10 Contacts Issue

    Hi there,
I have a new Z10. And I try to import my contacts from the old 9800, but keeps failed.
    Is there any suggestions?
Thanks so much for you help.

    Hello overspeed,
Sorry to hear about your issue.
On your BlackBerry Torch 9800 were your contacts synced wirelessly or did you manually sync with Outlook or manually enter the contacts?
You may also want to have a look at this link which may help you out.

  • Z10 Hotmail Issue

Hello - I have been using my Z10 since April with very few issues. I have my business emails as well as my hotmail account on it.
For the last 3-4 days I have an issue with my Hotmail account. In both the Hub and in the account proper, I can only see sent messages. When go into the hotmail account and hold "Hotmail" I get to the folders. if I select " Inbox" the I can see the recieved messages but when I exit this portion of the application then it reverets back to only the sent messages.
This issue is brand new and this was working fine until a few days ago.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness shows up, the first thing to try is a proper reboot:
Pre-BB10 Devices ONLY. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
BB10 Devices. Hold the top button down until the counter reaches zero. Wait for the device to be fully shut down (e.g., nothing at all displayed on the screen, no LED lights, etc.). Hold the top button until the red LED is lit. Wait through the full boot-up process. If this fails, you can attempt the battery-pull method above, but it is normally NOT recommended unless nothing else works.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
    Good luck!
