  • Account Hijack - Please help I've really run out o...

I'm posting here out of desparation.  I've filled out the long and unrewarding contact by email form several times.  But have never received a response.  Once I received a we need more infomration form, but upon completion my request just disappeared into a black hole.
About 72hours ago my account was hacked and hijacked by an 'ethical hacker'.  He changed my regstered email account and password.  He's since been fishing my contacts for FTP passwords, email accounts and any other sensitive information he can find.
I have tried 5 0r 6 times to send an email via the contact forms to GET MY ACCOUNT SUSPENDED, I've told all me friends to block and report the hacker, but still sykpe allow him to continue.
Where should I go with this?, obvoulsy the account to which I refer is not this one, but I don't want to list the name here on an open forum.
Please help, any advice is much appreciated

Just open the link below to report your hacked/stolen account. Select Security and Privacy as Help Topic and Identity Theft/Account Takeover as the Related Problem. Then Click the Continue Support Request button near at the bottom of the page.

I think customer support usually reply within 24 hours (but could be longer in certain cases).  They may also require you to provide some information to verify that you are the real owner of that account, before they can possibly assist you in regaining access to it.

  • Hotmail account hijacked???

Hi. I am new to this forum and I hope someone can help me. I opened up my Hotmail account today and found 12 undeliverable messages to people on my contact list that contained spam from China. Someone has hijacked my Hotmail account (I think) and sent this to everyone on my list. At least 6 of my contacts opened the message and infected their own computer and contact lists. I know this because the same spam was sent back to me via one of their email addresses. My husband (a diehard PC user) insists that there is a worm on my computer that has caused this problem and believes that I probably got it from an infected email (I am extremely careful what I open. I do not take/use my MacBook outside of my home and we have firewalls installed on my computer and on our home network. I suspect my account was hijacked when (during a two day power outage) I accessed my hotmail account at the public library (I logged out of my account & cleaned the browser history).
Is it possible that I do indeed have a worm installed on my computer? Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know how to make it stop? I am concerned because it appears that I have transferred this mess to many, many people including hundreds of people on a contact list from my daughter's dance school. I have changed my hotmail password and security question but I am concerned that there may be something on my computer that could jeopardize the financial info on our network. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

It is possible that the library computer was infected before you used it. It then sent your login info to the person who infected it. That person could then log into your account and send the virus to all your contacts. Now that you changed your password, your hotmail account should be safe.
I seriously doubt that your Mac is infected. OS X is very different from Windows... a Windows virus will not affect OS X and visa versa. Since Window is what 98% of computers run, that is what most viruses are made to infect.
The infecter might spoof your e-mail address (use your email address as the from address even though a different account is actually sending the email), but basically the damage has been done and there isn't much you can do about it.
To keep this from happening in the future you should only use computers or Wi-Fi networks that are known to be safe if you are doing anything online that requires a password.

  • Account hijacked, but skype support is unresponsive

Hi, My employee account was recently hijacked. He completed the verification form, and the info there is correct, but the support team keeps turn it down and asks to fill it again. We are ready to provide any other identity proofs, e.g. main db file, verification calls from his colleagues, etc, but no help, the support team simply sends canned replies back. Does anybody know how to resolve the problem? Maybe someone knows a contact of the support team supervisor? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, the_manager, and welcome to the Community,
Please try contacting Skype Customer Support directly, to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent:  https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA10656/what-is-live-chat-support
If the information provided via the web form does not match exactly what is on file for the particular account in question, the verification process will fail.
Skype is aware of lingering problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.
    Regards,
    Elaine

  • Account Hijacked - How to Contact Apple?

    Hello,
I've already changed my password and even my apple id, however I was wondering how to contact Apple in order to get the orders reversed? The person who hijacked my account obviously knew my password, but they also ordered about $150 in movies and songs which I don't even like. I've called my bank in order to reverse the transactions, but I was wondering if it were possible to contact Apple iTunes via Phone in order to solve this issue?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then the steps half-way down this page should let you reset them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use

  • Spam Email Server Account Hijacked

    Hello everyone,
I've been having a lot of trouble with one particular email server. I've posted a couple of questions but nobody has answered me so I went and re-installed the whole server by changing it's static IP and adding an Airport Extreme in between so that the server only does DNS, Open Directory, File Sharing and Email.
Everything it's been going well until one user started receiving email notifications about mail returned messages.
    I've tried several things:
    - Removed the non SSL website so I only left the Webmail on 443
    - Changed to more secure passwords
    - Lock the account after 10 bad passwords (the user gets blocked every couple of hours)
    - Deactivate the POP protocol as nobody is using it, we are only using
    - Tried blocking some Russian IPs because I noticed that all the emails are Reply To the domain ngs.ru but from the logs it looks like it's going through locally.
My user has only Macs and iOS products so even though it's a mixed environment I don't think there could be a Malware doing this.
I don't know what else can I do, I really want to avoid the server getting blacklisted and I've been looking for help so I would really appreciate if someone can provide me some guidance.

    I'll really appreciate anyone's help.

I've been getting a lot of bounce backs from the same SMTP server as you to our email domain as well.
The offending server mwinf5d55.orange.fr is sending "backscatter" spam which should be simply dropped by them instead of bouncing back to the "FROM" address.
Because of this problem of bounced emails, I've tweaked our SPF (Sender Policy Framework) DNS TXT entry for our email domain to help receiving mailservers know what our legitimate OUTBOUND smtp mail servers actually are.  This should allow correctly configured email servers to drop any email from mwinf5d55.orange.fr because it is not a valid source of email for our domain.
    (See http://www.openspf.org/SPF_Record_Syntax for some syntax)
Some details that I've dug up:
The SMTP server at orange.fr is accepting mail based on forged FROM: addresses which bounce back to you by the receiving target TO: address mailservers.
Eg. From your email bounce back message:  host mail.ru[94.100.176.20] said: 550 spam message discarded.
I'm not sure if the spammer is using the mwinf5d55.orange.fr smtp server as an open relay or if it's using someone else's smtp username and password to send mail.
If you look at the email headers of the original bounced (spam) email that caused the backscatter it shows for example (from one of our bounces that I've received):
    Received: from Unknown ([92.46.248.56])
    by mwinf5d55 with ME
    id 7XfA1l00l1Dkwus03XfJsw; Mon, 04 Mar 2013 20:39:43 +0100
    X-ME-IP: 92.46.248.56
    X-ME-Entity: ofr
When you look up the IP address source of that email it shows that it is coming from "JSC Kazakhtelecom, West Kazakhstan Affiliate".
    http://en.utrace.de/whois/92.46.248.56
If you lookup the original source email and find that it's from your original user's computer then you have a problem.  If it's from a compromised machine overseas that's sending forged spam on your user's behalf, then there's not too much you can do about it short of publishing a correct SPF record.
    Hope that helps.

  • Email account hijacked?

I recently sold something on eBay and during the auction, I received an odd question about my sale. The link supplied for replying directed me to login first on a page that looked IDENTICAL to eBay's login page, with one exception...it asked for my eBay email address. I still can't believe I "logged in", but I did. Now, I am not getting any email, I have been notified by eBay that the message was "probably fraudulent" (thanks for nothing-too late), and my eBay password was changed.
Is there any way to track where my mail is being bounced and how do I recover my account?!?
Any help will be greatly appreciated by this very contrite "rookie-mover."
    imac g5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Upon further investigation, I found that whoever did this was having my mail forwarded to a gMail account. The problem was that my eBay password and my .Mac were the same so he was able to access my Mail preferences, by simply attempting to try the password I so willingly gave out. I am normally so careful of these things but I was in a hurry and not paying attention.
Thank you so much for your willingness and efforts to help.

  • Skype account Hijacked

I had my Skype account compromised, had this suspended and then received an email from "customer service" that they had suspended the account and I had to tell them by email that the password had been changed. Since when does the Skype server not know when a password has been changed. So a bunch of scammers in Australia are trying to get a heap of contact details.

afaik, skype at the moment only offers email support, and live chat option for premium/selected members.  their support team usually respond within a 24 hour timeframe.

  • Account hijacked for calls to Ethiopia and Egypt

Hi, My skype account was suddenly auto-recharged today (20th April, 2012)  around 1:00AM (GMT+5.5).  When I checked, several calls were made to EGYPT and ETHIOPIA.  I have taken the necessary measures to prevent further charges.  I also notified skype support via chat.
I am convinced that there are serious holes in security at skype. Beware All!!!

    Easy way: Go to support.skype.com/en-gb/support_request
Long way: Click on "Support" in the main menu above and selecting "Support Homepage" (at the bottom of the menu) > Then click on "Get more help" at the bottom of the page > Enter a query.  In the next page, there will be another "Get more help" link on the right, which will ultimately lead to the support request page.
Once at the support request page, select Security & Privacy > Identity Theft / Acccount takeover. The page will scroll down to display an answer, which contains a link "contact us by live chat".  Click on the link and mention the issue to the live chat agent.  What I did was just mention what happened and the steps I had taken (change the password, disable autorecharge, de-link from paypal account).  Note: I did not directly ask for a refund.
I also notified paypal regarding the fraudulent recharge and there, I raised a claim and requested a refund.  I am not sure which of these steps was effective in getting the refund, but I would suggest doing everything possible without wasting time.  I got my autorecharge refunded within minutes of the live chat, so I am not sure the paypal step was necessary.
    Hope this helps!

  • Account hijacked, $450 in charges so far and no re...

Yesterday I noticed about $300 in pending charges from Skype on my credit card. When I looked at the email address associated with the account I noticed that someone had managed to change the email address on the account to one that is not associated with me. I imediately contacted skype to report the issue.
It's been 24 hours and I have not heard a peep from Skype support. Minewhile the hacker rang up another $135 today. WTF Skype? That kind of customer support is downright emberassing!

When iMessages stops working, so does Find my iPhone. The internet, email, and everything else works fine.
However, after posting my message on 11 July, I was again trawled through many messages regarding this problem, realising it was happening to many others.
I also noticed that there were quite a few postings stating that altering the DNS Server from 10.1.1.1 to 8.8.8.8 fixed the problem.
I made a note of this, and sure enough (before I'd lost the piece of paper with my note) iMessage let me down again. I immediately changed the DNS Server as directed - and it worked!
Now I find that my brother and nephew had also given up on iMessage on their iPads, even though it worked on the iPhone. Once they changed to 8.8.8.8 they too found things worked smoothly.
I'm hoping this is going to be permanent solution to my problem.

  • Account Hacked. Skype ignoring my support tickets.

About 6 or 7 weeks ago, my account was hacked. Besides using up all my credits on 2 monthly subsciptions the hacker didn't do anything else on my account; at least nothing that I can see. I've reported this to Skype using their suggested method and was told I would hear back within 72 hours, 3 days later I reported it again. So far I've reported this to Skype 9 times, I'm still waiting to hear back from them. The whole process to contact Skype is one of the most long winded and pointless endevours I've ever had the misfortune to enconter. After being directed from one link to another I'm finally directed to a microsoft support link which once I click on it I'm taken to a page that tells me the page I'm looking for no longer exists. After 4 weeks of waiting for Skype to reply I thought **bleep** this!' and tried to cancel my account. This turned out to be just as difficult as reporting the hack. I'm still waiting for Skype to get in contact with me. I'm posting this here as a warning to anyone who has had their account compromisd, don't bother trying to report it, as Skype's customer service doesn't exist. just remove your personal details from your account and stop using Skype, that's what I'm going to do.

Check your Spam folder. Responses from Skype when I contacted them about my account hijacking were going there. You've gotta wonder why that is, but anyway...

  • Do I need to change main computer password if a friend was hacked into on their e-mail?

A friend had computer hacked into.  An e-mail had been sent to me to open.  I clicked on the e-mail but it wanted me to subscrie to a site and I didn't.  I changed my e-mail password, but I have a homegroup and password there as well as the main password to get into my computer.  Do I need to change those?
    Thank you.

    Connie, welcome to the forum.
The experts recommend that you change all of your passwords at least monthly.  I don't know anyone who does this, but it certainly can save alot of grief.  Therefore, change your passwords if you feel uncomfortable.  The main password for the computer won't stop intrusions from emails, however.
I actually had my email account hijacked.  This is a pain because whomever did it sent SPAM to everyone in my Contacts list every day.  My Contacts wondered if I had lost my mind.  Microsoft finally locked my account and had me jump through hoops to get it unlocked.  The main thing that I had to do was change my password.

I just finished getting off the phone wt Comcast. I've been on the phone wt them, several times, related to email, and all of their mail settings are correct. They told me that if I have more then one email client when using apple mail, the one I used last will take control of my Comcast mail settings, it wasn't Comcast. They said this can sometimes cause me to get a upside down triangle, next to my Comcast mail box. This error symbol periodically appears, and then just as mysteriously vanishes. They told me that Comcast has to be the primary email, and having other inboxes will screw up Comcast mail settings. I currently have an iCloud, Yahoo, and Comcast account set up in Mac Mail. My yahoo, and iCloud mail always seems to work great, but Comcast goes down a lot. My primary mail is iCloud, but Comcast tells me that their mail will always eventually fail, unless it is the only client in Mac Mail. Does that sound correct, or are they feeding me a bunch of bull? Also, does anyone have any other ideas, as to why this error occasionally occurs, and how to fix it. I'm not entirely sure it is entirely Comcast's fault, since I had no problem getting mail wt them prior to downloading Yosemite.

I Have had Comcast Xfinity Internet and email since I first got broadband service years ago. I have four different email accounts on my two iPads, iPhone, and on my Mac. I use the Mac Mail app on my MacBook Pro and I am also running the most up to date Yosemite 10.10.2. Comcast is feeding you a line of bull cookies. I have no problems at all with any of the email accounts on any of my devices. Not only do I not have any problems with any of the accounts, but I am running Comcast as an IMAP and as a POP account on all devices including the Mac, so once again, the Comcast support people know not of what they speak.
I have never heard of having the last email account hijack the settings for another email account like the Comcast "support" person is claiming.

  • ICloud doesn't recognize my Apple id password

I just changed my Apple id password because someone else was listed under my email. After doing that, my icloud accound doesn't recognize my apple id password.  FYI, when I went in to my account to change the password, I saw all the persons info, address, telephone etc. who was using my email account. How did that happen? All of my info was not there. So I took his out and replaced with my info. But then I couldn't get itunes or icloud to recognize my new password.

I had a very similar experience.  I made a purchase last month.  Everything was fine.  Then I try to login two days ago and I can't.  Nothing works.  Can't reset my password, and when I try I never get an email with the new one.
I email apple support and they tell me that my email address (and apple ID) has been changed to some weird address.  I  reply and tell them that I never did this and never got an email saying it had been changed.  They had me try to log in with the new email address (which I couldn't).  Eventually they reset my password (still with the new weird email address) and I could log in.  I then quickly changed the password and apple ID back to my email address.  However, the billing info was weird.  My street and city were correct, yet the State/ZIP and phone were all from New Mexico.  It doesn't look like any purchases were made.
I am starting to think that there were no accounts hijacked here, otherwise we would have received an email when the ID was changed (as I did when I changed mine back).  I think that something got corrupted in Apple's database.
