Activity Templates inside Service Request Templates

I have run into a problem and I was hoping there is an easy solution.
I have built Activity Templates for Access Requests, one template per application.
Then I have Service Requests for per Job Code, which include up to 20 of those Activity Templates.
I did it this way specifically so if an Application Access process changed, I could just edit the Activity Template for that Application, and all the Service Requests that use that template would update as well.... or so you would think.
I just had to change some, and my service request is still showing the old templates, not the esits I did. I waited over an hour. Is this a workflow problem, or a functionality problem? If the Service Request Template saves when created instead of pullign
the activity templates each time its opened, it defeats my purpose of trying to do this modularly. This also makes absolutely no sense to me either, if that is in effect how it works.
What that will mean is I will have to edit every service request that uses a specific activity, instead of just that activity template.

Activity templates do not cascade. When you add an activity template to a Service Request, SCSM creates a copy of the activity template _inside_ the SR template. That's where they diverge.
Any further changes to the original activity template will not be replicated to any SRs that contain that activity.
I'm sorry to say that's the way SCSM's template management was implemented.

  • Unable to Create Service Request Template in CRM

    Hello,
I need to create a service request template in crm web ui,
    Following are the steps followed.
I have identified the transaction type as SRQT screen shot attached below
However when I click on on the work center link groups of the service pro role, I am not able to find the same for the service request template
As per the post below it says that you need to go navigation bar profile and add the SM-SUPPORT work center and the work center link group as SM-SRQT-CR
How to customize service request templates
The error appears when I try to add the logical link id,
Because of the above error I am not able to create service request template in sap crm, please advice which logical link ID, I need to use so that the service request template can be created in the system.
    Kind Regards
    Atul

    Hi Atul,
    1. Screen shot 1 is correct
    2. Screen shot 2 - You are at end of all work centers in your custom role which you might have copied from standard or Z role. If you look in standard role SERVICEPRO, navigation bar profile SRV-PRO, work center - SRV-ORD, you will find service request template
In Cases work Center in standard SERVICEPRO role you can create service request template.
Try copying this to your custom role in your required work center. It should work.

  • Service Request template with status resolved

    Hi all,
There is a way to create a Service Request template with the status "resolved"? We would like to use this kind of template in a location when we don't care about  the issues, but we need to know their number. So we just have to open a new
SR, apply that template and close it automatically.
    Thank you,
    Eugen

    Hi,
If no Activities related to your Service Request it will completed automatically, If actitivities related than you must create a workflow to complete the activities first, then your SR will be completed.

  • How do I add a Voter to a Review Activity on a Service Request from an AD User Query on the Request Offering?

I have the query set-up and it works fine, but I cannot map it to anything, I suppose because it is an object and not a simple string. I think I get the option to Map it to related items or configuration items in the Query itself maybe, I seem to remember
seeing that, but I can not map it to anywhere on the Service Request or Activities in the Request Offering Set-Up.
However, looking at my Update Object Activity in My Runbook, I do not see how to add a person to a review activity anyway.
    Can someone enlighten me?
I do not know Powershell well enough to use it with SCSM or Orchestrator yet, and I am not even sure if we have SMLets so keep it simple if possible.
    Thanks for any assistance!

  • How to disable auto-completing service request after completing last activity

How to disable standard rule, that change service request status to "Complete" when the last activity in this service request is completed?
    For SCSM 2012 R2

Perhaps you can use the "Closed" status as a way of indicating that your are completely finished with a service request? (This follows ITIL). It has the advantage of being an out-of-the-box feature and, by default, SR's have to be closed by
    a user.
Keep in mind, though, that closed service requests are groomed out of the CMDB (356 day retention time by default, i believe). But, they'll still be available for a few years in your data warehouse.
What is your business reason for this behavior? Console views? Custom reports?
If "Closed" doesn't cut it for you, you may want to consider extending the Server Request class with your own status property that you can use for whatever your requirements are.

  • Configuring my first Service Request

    Hello all,
I'm just starting to learn Service Manager and wanted to begin with the Request Management bit.
Therefor I created an orchestrator runbook to add a user to a group.
In the 'initialize data' step, I created 2 string variables: User and Group.
I then went into SCSM and let the SORCH connector run.
After that I could see my runbooks imported.
From my runbook, I created the Runbook activity Template and made sure to check the 'is ready for automation' flag.
I placed this template in a custom MP.
Next off I created a Service Request in the same MP as here above and in the activities tab, I added my Runbook Automation Activity.
Then I went on to create a new Request offering.
Inside the request offering, I selected my newly created Service Request Template and configured 2 prompts with the query type.
In the configure part, I made it so that they write the input as a related item to the service request.
My problem arises when I have to map my prompts to something.
It seems that the prompts that I configured aren't available to map to the orchestrator input fields.
    See attached file: http://1drv.ms/173fWJD
    How can I accomplish this?
    What did I do wrong?
    Thanks in advance!
    Filip

    Hey
Selected CIs from query prompts can only be related to the SR or one of the activities. Therefore the SCORCH runbooks needs to connect back to SCSM and get those related objects. You cannot submit those values when the Runbook is triggered.
1 good Option is to always only accept the Runbook activity template id and map this id to the Input Parameter when you configure the RB template. After that you can connect back to SCSM, go through the relationship to the SR and then to the selected/related
user and Group. Once you have all together you can do the modification in ADDS.

  • Service Requests not resolving

    Good Morning TechNet Experts,
I have been having an issue with service requests and I'm one week away from deployment. Basically, I had no need for a "Review" activity, we implement service requests the same way we implement incidents. An analyst opens a ticket for customer,
once service has been applied they should resolve the service request. With incidents this is easy, you just change the incident status to resolved...
However, with Service Requests I created a new template that did not require the "Approval" activity, only the "Apply Service" activity. My Idea was when an analyst is finished with the ticket, he/she just marks the "Apply Service"
activity as completed and the service request can move to "Completed" status.
Although the activity is being marked as completed, the ticket is not changing status. Some are stuck in "In Progress" and some are stuck in "New" status (even though the activity is showing as completed....). These have been stuck for
more than 24 hours now... when this actually goes into production a week from now even 5 minutes is a long time.
What can I do to solve this? I am open to implementing a new procedure if required. Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
First of all, it looks like you are having an issue with your workflows. Please restart the HealthService (Microsoft Monitoring Agent) and check if the workflows restart. Do other workflows run (e.g. notification subscriptions)?
Secondly, if you are using service requests with only one manual activity, I believe the handling is a little bit complicated for your analysts. Why don't you remove all activities completely from your SR template? The service request will then go to status
"Submitted" once created, and the analyst can use the task "Complete" to complete the SR without having to worry about activities.
    HTH,
    Dieter

  • SCSM 2012 - service requests auto complete even with activities in them

I introduced SCSM 2012 on Monday at out company. I have a number of service requests templates that the service desk use.
I have seen a major fault. Occasionally when a request is raised from the template the goes straight to complete and therefore the manual activities are stuck in pending and i have to kill the activities using a powershell script. Below is a screen shot
    showing an example.
THis was raised from a template the service desk use frequently. The template is ok because we have used it several times. In the example below service desk raised the template - as ever when you raise a request the system moves it from 'new' to 'In Progress'
    - which is fine you should expect this - but then it automatically moves it from 'In Progress to 'Complete' - this is without the activity being completed. The activity is then stuck in pending. No one is marking the request as complete, the system is doing
it - but why??????? there are no workflows set up at all for Service Requests

    Hi CCOTS-KN
You can actually quite easily test this.
Create an SR from a template that has 3 Manual Activities.  Once created it will progress through the 'Submitted' status to the 'In Progress' status.  The first Manual Activity should also be 'In Progress'.  Now complete the first Manual Activity,
then wait for the second Manual Activity to go to the 'In Progress' status.  Now, put the SR 'On Hold'.  Wait for a couple of minutes - until the 2nd and 3rd Manual Activities are paused.  Now resume the SR.  What should happen is that
the Manual Activity resume workflow should trigger before other workflows, resulting in the SR and the Manual Activities remaining 'In Progress'.  If the issue is not fixed, the completion workflow will trigger first resulting in a completed SR with paused
    activities.
    HTH
    Cheers

  • Service Request Tempaltes in Service Plan.

There are two related questions here:
    1. Has Any one used Service Request Temaplates before ? There is no standard available, so I created my own of Template
Type: D. Is there a standard template transaction type that should be used ?
    2. After I create some transactions using the Service Request template, I am unable to assign it to the Service Plan Item. the Serivce Plan item only accepts Service Order temaplates and throws an error message if I manually enter the Service Request Template number. the error message reads: "The Transaction ######## does not exist"  (##### --> Request Number).
Can some one shed light on these issues ?
    Thanks,
    Farhad.

Can you check if the Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.HealthService.Modules.WorkflowFoundation.dll
is found on your management server (folder where service manager is installed)?

  • SCSM 2012 R2 Portal - Publishing Service Request and Change Request.

    Dears,
Sorry for this questions, it is very basic.
I want links on how to create below things:
Create Cataloge about Services we provide such: Create VM, Delete VM, Create User and Mailbox, Add user to group
How to publish this request to Portal
Create Change request approval flow such: approve creating user and mailbox
How to publish above change request
    Thanks

In addition to Thomas and regarding your assumption "I am not sure if the books help on this points":
    In the
Microsoft System Center 2012 Cookbook in the chapter 5 starting on page 148 the detailed steps "how to create a request offering for a new user request" are described.
Each recipe in this chapter describes how to setup a request offering with all related components to get this done.
The recipes you need in this chapter are:
Creating Service Request templates, page 148
Creating Service Request activities, page 151
Creating Service Offering categories, page 157
Creating Service Catalog Request offerings, page 159
Creating Service Catalog Service offerings, page 167
Publishing Service offerings and Request offerings, page 176
Working with Service Requests in the portal, page 183
Creating Service Request notifications, page 187
There is only one minor mistake in this chapter on page 153:
    "Unanimous (only one reviewer
needs to approve)" -> it must be "Unanimous
    (all reviewers
    must approve)"
I am pretty sure the recipes will work because I wrote the chapter. And sorry for the mistake on page 153! ;-)

  • Problem in creating service request

    Hi all,
I have created a custom RFC where I am using FM "CRM_ICSS_SRVREQ_CREATE". After this i am calling "CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN" to update the same Service request for updating product version and activity.
The service request created but it does not update the Activity category or you can say no effect of calling FM "CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN".I tried "BAPI_ORDER_CHANGEMULTI" also in place of CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN. But it does not work.
When i execute it in Debug mode it works fine. Can anyone suggest me what causes the RFC to behave like this or what could be the solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Animesh

    Hi karthik,
first of all thanks for your quick replies.
Now, Still its not working. This is the order in which i am calling the FMs:
    CALL FUNCTION 'CRM_ICSS_SRVREQ_CREATE'
CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT' (wait = true)
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_CHANGEMULTI'
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_BUSPROCESSND_SAVE'
    CALL FUNCTION 'BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT'(wait = true)
I tried commit work and wait also but it also does not works.

  • Link to Service Request from report

    Hi,
I am trying to perform the following:
In a Contact layout I have created a web applet which show product information.
(Let's say Product Name, Product Id and Product Catgeory)
I want to enable the user the following:
By clicking on the product name, a new Service Reuqest window will be opened, containing the Product that was chosen and the contact details.
    Can it be done?
    Thanks,

At this time there is not a direct link from a service request to a opportunity. However, you could use a completed activity under a service request with a Type called "Link" that would link the service request and opportunity. This would allow you to do reporting on these two linked objects.

  • Retrieving the Affected Configuration Items from a Service Request

I have a service request that gathers the usernames of AD Users that need to be added to a new security group. I have Query Result field set to add the users that are selected as Affected Configuration Items. My problem is when I get the SR's related AD
Users it gives me all of the Affected CIs but it also gives me the user that submitted the form. Is there any way to filter the relationship to only get users in the Affected CI list?
    Here's the steps I'm using:
    Identify Runbook Automation Activity
Get Parent Service Request Relationship from RBA
    Get Parent SR Object
Get related AD Users from SR
    Get AD User Objects
    Any help is much appreciated.

I figured it out. If anyone else is having this issue, you have to filter the Get User Relationship to exclude everything that does not match the Affected User Relationship Class:

  • Inherit Primary - Service Requests & Activities

    Hi All,
I have an issue with the Inherit Primary functionality with Books of Business. I have set this up between Service Requests and Activities. If I search for Activity records as I expect, I see all Activity records in my Book only, whether they are owned by me or not.
If I then look at a Service Request I see the related Activities but only those Owned by me as a user. If someone else in the same book has an Activity against my Service Request I cannot see this record in the related items of my Service Request. If I then search for this Activity I can see the record and have access to this... Argh!
My colleague has also come across this issue relating to Accounts and Opportunities. Has anyone found a fix?
    Thanks
    Oli @ Innoveer

The system can only return activities that the user owns, the user is on the activity user list, the user is searching a specific book or the user has access to all activities. In your case, you can see the activity because you are searching in your book. This is a known deficiency.

  • Template to open multiple service requests

I have the following requirement to achieve with service manager...
I wish to open a new Service request or incident from HR for a new starter,
This SR or incident then needs to open templeted sub activites of build machine, assign phone extension, create AD account etc etc
These sub-tasks can then be assigned to other staff and closed off seperately but all link to the master...
    How can I achieve this?
***Don't forget to mark helpful or answer***

This is, in fact, the entire purpose of the template, to allow you to create complex work items like Service Requests, with all component activities as they are.
The service request is a linear progression, i.e. only one activity will run at a time, and as soon as it completes, the next activity will start. this behavior is by design. if you have multiple tasks that need to run concurrently, consider using a Parallel
Activity container. the PA container will start, and all activities within the PA container will start, and as soon as all activities inside the PA are completed, then the PA will complete, and the next activity inside the Service Request will start.
Views are not updated unless you click away and back, or manually refresh the view. this might be why you don't see them.
