Advice with Time Warner / Focus Receivables Management

Very likely that's the case then.

I'm trying to rebuild (2nd time) my credit. I had it fixed last year, but Focus Receivables pounced after I bought a new car and placed a previously un-listed and re-aged account from Time Warner. Despite the account being from 2010, they placed it as 2014.  I disputed the account, and simply got a "consumer disputes this information" line added to my report (worthless). I asked for DV, and got NO response. I filed a complaint with the FTC, and the complaint was closed as "debt valid".  Problem is, I can't even seem to PAY this debt, no matter how valid it may be! Focus has never sent me anything by mail. I have sent them DV request by mail with my current address, and also provided my address via the FTC complaint. I also emailed their debtor email address with my name & address requesting they send me information in regards to the debt they have listed under my name. Absolutely no communication from them. How am I supposed to pay them? I tried calling Time Warner directly, but they can't find the account. The phone rep suggested I go to the local Time Warner store and they "might" be able to find the account. However, the "local" store is 100 miles away because I moved out of area!  Has anyone had luck with paying off an old account (5 years) at the local store and having it marked paid or removed? Honestly, as much as I'd like it removed, I'd even take it being marked PAID. Many mortgage lenders will not lend to you if there is ANYTHING unresolved on your credit, regardless of score. So this is completely forcing my hand and I'm going to have to rent for another 6 months or year until I can get this resolved. Therein lies the issue. A DV imposes a cease collection bar until they provide you with validation. It does not require removal of any reporting. The DV has placed you in "limbo". They cannot legally deal with you until they provide validation. The fact that TW can't seem to find any information may be the reason for the delay in validation. In order for them to make any kind of deal with you, the DV will need to be rescinded.

  • Recently upgraded my service with Time Warner Cable to Extreme speed and got a new Motorola Surfboard SBG6580, now I get Error -50 constantly.  Anyone else have this issue?

I just upgraded my service to Extreme with Time Warner Cable and got the motorola surfboard sbg6580 modem.  Now when I try to dowload any videos or TV shows on iTunes, I get an Error -50 mid download.  Anyone have a solution for this?  I am using a PC, not a Mac computer.

I don't want a used replacement phone when I just bought mine. I have had your "like new" replacements before for my basic phone and had a ton of issues straight out of the box, which is why I don't want one when my phone is so new and I have had issues since day 1! Not once on my several calls to tech support, did anyone tell me to go exchange it the first 2 weeks. That is just one reason they want to send me a replacement. Another is the USB does not work properly, I can't use it to do anything but charge the phone- and my husband has the same phone so I know is not the cord or the computer because his works perfectly. The connection was sporadic so I just installed a new SIM card. So far that has helped with dropping 4g all the time. I have never been able to back up my contacts, spent 2 hours on the phone with tech support the first night I got it just trying to sync the contacts from my old phone. It never worked, I had to hand input the numbers. If Verizon won't do right by be and give me a new phone, I at least would like them to get mine working like it should have when I bought it.

  • Getting online with Time Warner Cable (Roadrunner) cable modem

I have wasted a tremendous amount of time with Time Warner since switching from Verizon (New York City), as they are CLUELESS as to how to make a MAC connect to the modem. What settings do I use? It does not find it automatically, I know that much. And they have assured me it's not the modem, but that there's 'something wrong' with my computer. Since it worked fine with Verizon, and another Mac I have which works well in multiple locations with multiple connections also failed, I'm pretty sure there's nothing 'wrong' with my computer. Just tech support ignorance.
    Any help?
    Thanks

Setting up a local Ethernet network
    Equipment needed:
Cable/DSL modem: usually supplied by the ISP
Gateway/Router: at least a 4-port router, but you can get them with more ports if you need them. (Alternatively, you can get a switching hub to provide additional ports.)
CAT 5 Ethernet cables: one cable is needed for each device connected to the router plus one to connect the router to the cable/DSL modem.
    1. Connect the Cable/DSL modem to the router's WAN port using an Ethernet cable (CAT 5 for 10/100.)
    2. Connect each computer to the router's LAN ports using Ethernet cables. If you have network printers, etc. connect them to a LAN port on the router. If the router doesn't have enough ports, then you will need to purchase one with more ports or connect a switching hub to the router.
    3. Now, for each Mac open its Network preference pane. Select the Built-in Ethernet port for configuration. In the TCP/IP configuration window set the connection/configuration to DHCP from the dropdown menu. Set your Location dropdown menu to Automatic and the Show dropdown menu to Built-in Ethernet.
    4. Shut everything off. First, turn on the Cable/DSL modem and wait for the connect lights to indicate it has connected to the ISP. Next, turn on the router and wait to see if the Cable/DSL modem's communication status light starts to flicker. Also, if there is a status light on the router it should show a connection. Last, power up the computer. If all is well the TCP/IP control panel or Network pref pane should indicate an IP has been obtained from the router, usually in the 192.168.nnn.nnn range. If it's 169.xxx.xxx.xxx then you don't really have a connection.
    5. If you have network printers connected each printer will have to be assigned its own unique IP address in the router's address range (usually 192.168.nnn.nnn.) Assign the printer(s) IP addresses above the number of computers that will be connected but within the router's DHCP address assignment range. Consult the router's documentation for that information. Consult the printer manual for how to assign an IP address to the printer. When you install the printer driver and/or Add the printer you will add it as an IP printer or LPR printer and use the IP address you assigned to the printer.

    Cannot get the Apple.. what?
Model and actual device you are talking about?
Apple covers a pretty huge range.. If you mean extreme.. did you reset it to factory and start over.. that is always necessary when you change a network. You cannot pick up a router from one home and network and plonk it into another and have it work.. aint gonna happen.
You also need to power down any pure cable modem for 20min or so to get it to forget the old MAC address that captured the IP so the Apple ??? has a chance to work.

  • AT&T Microcell does NOT work with Time Warner Technicolor Modem!

After a frustrating two weeks of working through problems with AT&T, trying to get my Microcell on-line, Time Warner finally informed me that the Microcell does not work with their new Technicolor modem. Incredibly annoying that none of the AT&T reps I spoke to knew this. I walked in the Time Warner office to swap out the moden, the clerk there immediately knew the problem because he use to work at AT&T.  How a former AT&T rep knew this and none of the new ones did, is beyond me.

There are so many ISP configured routers and gateways out there that it is impossible for AT&T support to keep track of what is compatible and what is not. We are just starting to see reports of incompatibilities with the Technicolor gateways (TWC equipment has a long history of problems with the MicroCell). Unfortunately the support reps are limited in what they can tell the customer and unless AT&T documents and verifies equipment incompatibilites they can't say anything. What the "former AT&T rep" knew may have been in-house discussions. AT&T, like any provider, has to be careful not to immediately blame the other party without "proof". The more documented complaints AT&T receives concerning a specific piece of equipment the better. However, it is up to the ISP to fix and/or replace their equipment when it comes to compatibility problems. Specific firmware pushes for specific equipment by AT&T to the MicroCell is not a viable alternative nor is it realistic.

  • Airport Extreme set up with Time Warner

OK. I am experiencing a similar problem as mentioned in a differnt thread, but a bit different. First my Airport Utlility is 6.3.1 so the graphics for settings are completely different.  I have an ATV2, Black Mccbook and Ipad2. My problem is when I try to add a third device of the three, especially the Macbook, once I get it an assigned # via the modem (using a White, new Surfboard 6141 and Time Warner as provider), my Ipad gets dropped. Once I even lost the ATV2.  The Mccbook is generating its own DHCP address. When I have it on and reboot the modem, it sets it up , but then I lose the Ipad when I turn it back on. My apple extreme in set in Bridge,(by default it is a 2007 model.Has never been a problem when I used Verizon.Where do I go from here. Been playing with this all day.  Internet connect is set fort DHCP . Network is set for Bridge. I have no Ivp6 settings.

Also, I was not given instructions for set up from Time Warner. It was done via a phone call by the technician when they installed the cable. Timw Warner takes no responsibility for owned Routers and how to configure them. They just make sure the modem is probperly feeding the signal. Message was edited by: Moncrief

(using a White, new Surfboard 6141 and Time Warner as provider)
This is a simple cable modem, that will deliver only one IP address to the AirPort Extreme.
My apple extreme in set in Bridge,(by default it is a 2007 model. Has never been a problem when I used Verizon.
Bridge Mode is not the correct setting for the AirPort Extreme. It needs to be in a Router Mode of DHCP and NAT.
Bridge Mode would have been the correct setting with a Verizon modem/router......but the SB6141 is not a router....it is a simple modem.
You can try to make the settings change to see if that will work, but in most cases when you are making a modem change on a network, it is recommended to first reset the AirPort Extreme back to factory default settings  (to wipe older and possibly conflicting settings), and then configure the AirPort to work with the new modem.

  • I want to connect Time Capsule with Time Warner modem

How do you connect Time Capsule to a Time Warner modem? I am upgrading my Wi-Fi to AC and have a Motorola modem without AC, router and WiFi. I could just upgrade the Motorola modem, but I would like to use a Time Capsule. My connection to Time Warner usesd a splitter that goes to a DVR with the other end going to the Motorola modem by way of a coax connector.

Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <--> port on the Motorola modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.
Power up the Time Capsule for a few minutes. At this point the amber light will be blinking slowly on the device.
    On your Mac....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
    Click on Other WiFi Devices
    Click on Time Capsule
The utility will open up and take a minute to analyze the network, then display a window that looks like the screenshot below...except that you will see a Time Capsule on the screen.
Network Name......enter a simple name that you want to use as your wireless network name
Base Station Name....enter a simple name that you want to call the Time Capsule
Password.....enter a password that will be used for both the network and Time Capsule
    Verify......verify the password
    Cick Next
The utility will set up everything for you. When you see a green light on the Time Capsule, log on to the new wireless network that you have created and enter the password to connect.

  • Airport Express with Time Warner DSL

A friend just had her Time Warner DSL setup but she really wants wifi in her house. They want to charge her another $50 setup and then $10 more per month. They did say we could just setup our own network by plugging a router into the modem. Can I do this with an Airport Express or do I need to use an Extreme?
And the router mode would be set to DHCP and NAT?

    Hello
I am having similar issues setting up my Airport Express.
I have the TWC Cable Modem with built in WIFI. All of that is working fine.
I have connected my ethernet cable ( itested and it has a internet connection) to the WAN port on the AE and plugged it in. After a few moments the light flashes amber.
When I run the Airport Utility from my Mac, it says "Examing..." and then says "An unexpected error occurred. Try again"
I have tried many times, and even reset the AE using the button on the back.
    I am at a loss.
Can you help me diagnose further or try an alternative method?
    thanks in advance.

  • HT2497 how should i configure time capsule with time warner arris as separate networks?

i have been using the time capsule 4th generation with my home network but my connectivity seems to sometimes disconnect atleast with my macbook pro i always seem to be having to go place my cursor on the wifi logo to keep it consistent? i could jsut try and continue but really want a simple fast direction in what to do and how to configure this so that i only have access to my time capsule and network while my family may have access to the arris time warner cable network... ive heard of bridging and have had it so that my router be a bridge. whats the benefit and actual meaning of bridging in lame terms? i understand that bridging means it just runs internet through that device... so that device isnt setting any ip adresses? anywho ive messed around with the twcale internet site a bit hope i havent messed up too much. when i called time warner cable today they said they could only assist me with the arris side and not advise me with time capsule config... now i want to call apple but it seems i have to pay to call them? wow. and i bought the time capsule and best buy and was on hold for 10 minutes while being hung up rght when i seemed to be about to be helped. oh joys. anywho... help please?

We recently switched back to TWC here in the valley, att was horrible.  We get 22.6 download and 2.24 uploads usually, however...we too have been having issues with the internet becoming sluggish throughout the day, not just at peak usage times.  We have 2 computer plugged in directly and 3 others wireless but not on at the same time all the time.
I haven't gone into the Arris this time around, but am thinking there are settings that are screwed up.  We have been using the Time Capsule's wireless connection and it is terribly slow.  I'm not sure if there is a problem with the settings there or what.
    Anyone, anyone, Beuler, Beuler?

  • Does the airport interfere with time warner modem

My roommate has an airport connected to our Time Warner modem that is for his private use.  Does it cause interference to the strength of reception I'm getting from the Time Warner modem?

It's possible, and it's also possible that the Time Warner modem/router is interfering with the signal from the AirPort Express.
Most of the time though, this is not a problem, since each router will look for the best wireless channel to use and try to avoid other channels that are already in use.
What is for certain is that your Internet bandwidth, or speed, is being split between the Time Warner modem/router and the AirPort Express when both devices are operating, so all things being equal, hopefully your roommate is at least paying for his share of the monthly Internet charges.

  • Cisco ATA for Use with Time Warner Digital Phone

Is it possible to do the following with any of the Cisco products?  Basically I want to have the incoming line from Time Warner go to the PBX to answer calls and then have the PBX route the calls appropriately.  I currently have a Linksys PAP2 v2, but I don't think that will work because I think both ports are FXS and I'll need an FXO and an FXS.  I have attached a diagram.
    Regards,
    Scott

So the Linksys PAP2 I have in my diagram, or a Cisco SPA-3102 cannot route inbound calls to the PBX via FXO and then route the call to internal analog phones via the FXS as directed by the PBX given that the PAP2 or SPA-3102 would register to the proxy?  I'm really looking to just permit the PBX to talk to the analog stations since I can't get a SIP trunk from the Time Warner modem and with my lack of knowledge on VoIP it seems like the 2901 is over kill.  If the router is necessary, then how is it that the PAP2 can connect directly to the internet and link up with Vonage or other similar providers with an analog phone connected to it?  The PAP2 is going to communicate with Vonage via SIP and the phone is analog, so there must be some form of encoding going on inside the PAP2, which is what the PVDM does inside the router.  So I guess I'm really looking for someone to solidify my understanding of what is needed that the PAP2 or SPA-3102 can't provide.  There are a lot of posts on the internet with folks using these devices, but I suspect they are still using a SIP provider as opposed to an analog handoff like Time Warner gives.

  • Airport with Time Warner Cable Road Runner

We have Time Warner Cable's Road Runner as our isp. They gave us a wireless router, which has been working fine. However, we have 2 floors in our house, and occasionally my computer, that is on the floor above the router, drops the signal. I do have the Airport Extreme, which someone told me I can connect to my computer to help boost the signal. Is this correct, and if so, how do I do that? Because when I try connecting my computer via ethernet cable to the Extreme, it pulls up the old network I use to have the Extreme assigned to. How can I resest the Extreme to work with the Road Runner router account? And is this even how it is done?

In order to extend the Time Warner-provided router's network wirelessly, you will need to set up a Wireless Distribution System (WDS) between that router and the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS).
Unfortunately, most non-AirPort routers are not compatible with Apple's implementation of WDS...so it very unlikely that the router Time Warner has provided you can be extended wirelessly with the AEBS.
The few that are known to work are:
    o Linksys WRT54G or WRT54GS (not v5)
    o Belkin F5D7230-4 and F5D7231
    o BT Voyager 2091
    o Netgear WGR614 v6
    o Buffalo WGR-G54

  • I have no sound with Time Warner Cable website. How do I fix this?

I'm trying to listen to my voicemail messages from the computer and it won't work in Firefox. Time Warner tells me I need to use a different browser and I don't understand as I get sound from Firefox while listening to Pandora and other sites.

Does this issue occur on other browsers? (Not including Google Chrome)
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
    * [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
    * [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back soon.
