ARD Just not working...?

So this really became an issue with OS 10.5 as everything worked up until that point. But here goes, I was able to connect and control up to 10 machines per my license. But as soon as I updated everyone to 10.5.x and configured etc...I was only able to connect to some of the older desktop machines. Never any of the laptops. It sometimes sees them and sometimes doesn't. I can enter in the IP and it just won't connect. Yes, I have check fifty time to be sure I have it configured on each machine properly and it is, but it simply doesn't work. And Apply has not replied to help at all. I use VPN Tracker 5 to connect to the remote networks with no problems.
Any ideas? Thanks! I see others cannot get reports to run, I have never been able to get reports to run.

    Thank you for heading me in the right direction.  I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information).   I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)??  In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port:  465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer."  Authentication:  Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in.  After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there. 
    What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message:  "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.).  The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587.  Verify your account settings and try again."  That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails.  I guess my next step is to contact my email service provider, AT&T, and see if they can help me.  Thanks, again, for taking the time to respond and for giving me your input!  Much appreciated!

    Apps are locked to the Apple ID that was used to download them. You will have to sign in as your brother in order to update it.

    It would be helpful to know what version of Acrobat, WORD, and operating system.
    Without that info, I would suggest at this point to open your WORD file and then go to the print menu and print to file using the Adobe PDF printer. Open the created file in Distiller and see if you get a PDF. If so, check to see if AcroTray is running in the background.
    You say you tried many ways. It would help to know what you tried and what worked or did not work, and at what point the failure occurs.

    Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
    Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
    Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. How you feel about this is of no help and less interest.

    My Macbook just stopped working. In the evening it was working, but when I woke up the next morning, it was not working. I tried to turn it on, but it wouldn't turn on.   • ITunes sharing just NOT working!  Please help!

    I can't seem to get iTunes to find shared music on the network, or share my music.
    -I'm using iTunes version 6.0.1.3 and Windows XP with SP2
    -I have tried adding the ports 3689 and 5353 to the firewall port exceptions
    -After researching for awhile on here, I recognized the name Bonjour. I saw it in the firewall port exceptions list. I checked Program Files to make sure it was there, but alas, it was not. I downloaded Bonjour from apple, but still, not working.
    Any ideas? I'm positive that I would be able to see shared music if it was working, I just switched computers, and the old one worked fine.

    I probably should reinstall iTunes. If I do, will my library/playlists/smart playlists be totally intact? Like, after the reinstall will it look the same or will I have to reimport everything?

  • My iTunes is just not working! Please help!

    About a week ago, my iTunes just stopped working. When I tried to open it, I got that stupid Windoze message that iTunes had encountered a problem and had to close. And now I can't get it to work. I completely uninstalled both iTunes and QT and did a full reinstall of iTunes and then also did the standalone for QT. The problem remains, and was not resolved by the un/reinstall. Any hints here? I've pretty much tried everything I can think of, and a bunch of ideas from other discussions also. Thanks for the assist on this one!

  • ARD scanner not working and refuses to connect to server

    All of a sudden my ARD stopped working. It has changed the network addresses of the computers I control, scanners do not scan etc. I am also not able to acces anything on my network with it.
    Any ideas?

    I've recently started seeing the same behavior on my computer. I can not scan for any machines and the 450+ computers in my lists all appear as offline, though when I double click on them I can observe or control without a problem. This is very frustrating since I can no longer push out packages to any machines.
    Additionally, ARDAgent seems to be running with an ever increasing number of threads. If I quit ARD the agent keeps running, eventually surpassing 600 threads. ARD will not launch a second time until I force quit it and ARDAgent. I don't have screen sharing enabled on my machine and the other four staff in my office with remote desktop do not have any issues.
    I've already repaired permissions, removed and re-installed remote desktop, ARDAgent, AppleVNCServer.bundle, and rmdb.bundle to no avail. I've tried versions 3.2.1 and 3.2.2 and cleared preferences several times.
    Does any one have any ideas?

  • Airport Just Not Working

    I was able to download the Airport Utility and set up my Airport on my Windows Laptop. The utility says everything is fine but the airport itself is flashing amber. The wireless internet is not working and I have tried resetting the Airport but no luck. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

    Have you tried to reset the base?
    Just get a paper clip and find the area in the back to reset the base
    just insert the paper clip until the amber light flashes twice as fast as before and hold it there for about 5 seconds. Also try reseting your modem as well.
    This cleared up my problems yesterday .

  • Safari just not working like it used to

    I'll be the first to admit that I'm not on the leading edge with my software – I'm still running OS X 10.2.8 and Safari 1.0.3 on my Mirror Drive Door G4. But lately, Safari seems like it doesn't want to work with some web pages. For example, when I go to the Apple site, I get a big black void on the new iPhone landing page – I know there's supposed to be something there, but it's not showing up. On some other sites (particularly those using active server pages), some links are no longer clickable. Even Safari's pop-up blocker seems to get defeated more often lately. (For the record: I've got plug-ins, Java and Javascript enabled, and I'm always accepting cookies. I also clear the cache regularly and have cleaned up my permissions and preferences.) My current work-around is simply to browse troublesome pages in Firefox instead. But I'd like to continue using Safari.
    Am I correct in suspecting that there's nothing wrong with my machine or software, but that web technology is changing rapidly and that Safari 1.0.3 is just obsolete? I realize that Apple's "Help" says to always use the latest version of Safari. For me, I guess that means purchasing Tiger or Leopard. Maybe I just need to bite the bullet? Thanks.

    I understand your situation.
    You would love Tiger, but given your current Jaguar
    here's a list of basic cleaning up things to do.
    Do these & report back, OK ?
    1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
    2. Trash your Icons Folder:
    HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
    Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
    (This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
    rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
    3. Unfortunately, you don't have Font Book with Jaguar. Do you have a font manager? You might want to check for duplicate fonts on your Mac. By adding new apps & peripherals, extra fonts have been added, and you may have duplicates or font conflicts which can slow things down considerably.
    Do not touch any fonts located in the HD>System>Library>Fonts folder.
    Question for you: Do you have internet apps SpeedDownload, iGetter, PithHelmet, Acid Search, Safari Enhancer ? Or Norton or Virex? Sometimes non-apple internet apps need updating or uninstalling. If you do, let us know which ones and which version, please.
    If you're still having problems:
    4. Shut down your computer . . . unplug the computer, modem, and router, if you have one. Let everything sit for 2-3 minutes. Plug everything back in, start up your modem & router, then restart your computer.
    Safari 1.0.3 is very old, and it is entirely possible that it's just not reading sites well. But if you do all of the above, at least it should be better.

  • Audio is just not working!!!Frustrated

    I have checked the Skype page for help with audio and I made the arrangements with the control panels of SOund &Audio but Skype still can't pick up my voice. Previously, when I was in Russia my family could talk to me through Skype using the computer but for some reason it had stopped working for them....So I got some universal headsets to see if that could fix the problem but Skype still can't hear me. I have several questions...My headphones came with these two plugs in a additonal to the plug that is already attached to my headset. What are they for? I can't see a place to plug them in on the usual place I plug headphone in on my monitor so......what would you suggest? Also, do you have any other tips as to how I can get SKype to pick up my voice? I tried using both headset and just the audio system I believe was built into my computer but it still won't work. Do external audio systems help?

    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Spectre x2 and issues with sound not working correctly.  The first thing to try is this HP support document No Sound from Speakers. It has a number of good troubleshooting steps including using the built-in Windows troubleshooter.
    Here is a fix that has helped others.
    1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
    2. Click Playback Devices.
    3. Click Speakers.
    4. Click properties.
    5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
    6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
    7. Apply the properties.
    8. Click OK to close the properties window.

  • EA6700 5.2ghz just not working

      Just trying to set my EA6700 up, and the 5ghz channel just wont work.
    If I hard reset the device and leave it completely standard then everything connects to the 2.4ghz network fine, I've got Intel 6700AGN and the Linksys A6200 (usb) and Note 3, all 3 support 5.2ghz AC Networks, none of them connect to the AC network, except for the USB cards, but they connect at 800+mbps for a few seconds, then drop to 144mbps N connection after that (so not even getting 300mbps!) This is when they are all in line of site a couple feet away from the router.
    If I disable the 2.4ghz network on the router, then devices connect to the 5.2ghz channel, but rather than getting decent speeds they connect at 27mbps and wont actually route any traffic at all the the router, which means I either then have to reset to factory or connect to a physical cable and reset the router to have a 2.4ghz channel again. Same happens if I set the 5ghz channel to be AC only.
    Not really the reason I bought the router, as I want to use the 854mbps AC network! Well only makes sense seems as I have all my devices capable.
    Tried the previous firmware, and also 1.1.40.153731 (current).

    @charlas is the 5.0 GHz wireless settings of the router still set to its default settings? If yes, I suggest that you access your Linksys Smart Wi-Fi page through a web browser. Once done, set the channel to 161- 5.580 GHz and channel width of 80 MHz. It’s also better to perform a complete power cycle on the router, modem, and devices which will connect to the 5.0 GHz for full 1 min (modem first). By the way, the 5.0 GHz is good for devices that are closer to the router.

  • OS 10.5 Dialup (PPP) Given Up The Ghost, Just NOT Working

    I assume this is a well know problem by now. Just wanted to make my problem "official".
    Installed 10.5 which is generally working well; however dial-up has just gotten worse and worse....
    I cannot dial-up at all now and have given up trying all the various work arounds, and just boot up in 10.3.9. (And then suddenly it might just work under 10.5, which is weird).
    When I attempt dial-up there are no dial tones, so I'm assuming the software isn't even connecting to the modem. I read that something similiar happened with 10.4. System details follows:

    I had the very same problem ith my 933 Mhz G4. It also uses the same "Spring" internal modem. I got on the phone with Apple tech support, and they had me make a new "location" in the PPP control panel, and i got conected one time after doing that, but then after that I could not reproduce it, and it worked only once.
    The only way i was able to get online was tyo use the included "Generic" modem scriopt, and use the "Dialup Service" option for the "Generic" modem. I do not know what the conect speed rate is since the 10.5 panel no longer tells you what your connect rate is like it did in Tiger, but from using it, it fels about as fast as the Apple Internal Modem script did in Tiger.
    Leapord had this long delay in getting out, and yet it does not work with a Apple internal modem on a machine that is supposed to be compatable with Leaport??? Seems like someone dropped the ball here big time....
    I also got the Blue Scrren of Death, after I took all the precautions to prevent it, including getting rid of all Program Enhancement software, and even all of their Preference files, including insalling back my original Safari program that was unaltered. So I had to do a Archive and Install. i stil had to sue the "Generic" Modem script even after the Archive and Install without saving Network Preferences.
