i run an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro on my Desktop. Now i'm thinking about buying the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook for my ThinkPad to be more flexible. Is it possible to run the Break-Out-Box from my Platinum Pro with the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook. On photos i've seen something like an Ad-Link cable for the Audigy 2 ZS Notebook.
I run Ubuntu Studio on both, my desktop and my notebook.

Is there a break out box that works with Premier CS6 and has a fire wire input? I have a Panasonic psgv320 mini dv camera and need material from the tape imported into Adobe. It uses a dv to fire wire cable.

How can I use Pinnacle break-out box to capture in CS5

A colleague uses Pinnacle's break-out box to capture analog video directly through CS4, bypassing Studio.
I have CS5, and bought Pinnacle Studio 14.
But when I open CAPTURE in CS5, I get a "capture device offline" statement. Anyone got any ideas?

Break-out-box does not respond, but is powered on

Hey!?Big Problem... my break-out-box doesn't work any more. There is no possibility to use the mute function, IR-control, CMSS-Control or to do anything else with it... simply dead, although it is powered on. LED is green and at the optical out i have a red one shining. I tried cleansweap and reinstall drivers, nothing changed the situation. Cable are correctly connected, i didn't change the last years. I'm also missing the extended connection possibilitys in my "sound and speakers" options... formerly there where a lot more, now there are only?fi've or six controller bars. WHAT HAS HAPPEND? Is it normal that there are three steps with the CMSS options like: CMSS, CMSS2 and STEREO SOUND? I remember that formerly there was also CMSS3... correct? MAybe this is another wrong thing... Try doing a clean reinstall (i.e. backup data, format and reinstall) of Windows yet? Sounds like something else apart from the drivers got corrupted.

Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro External IO Box prob

I am unable to get the earphone or mic ports to work at all on the external IO box. The power light is on and is strong. The CMSS button seems to not do anything and the remote does not do anything as well. I have a 480W PS so it should have plenty of power. I just want to use the external mic and headphoe jack. Does anyone have an suggestions on what I can do to get the external box to function?

even i had the same problem, but i found that the AD_LINK connector was not properly connected to the soundcard. It may seem to get connected but even with a slight pull it comes out. The cabinet metal strips at the back obstruct the connector and it doesnt get connected properly.wat i did was, before installing the CARD on to the slot, i connected the AD_LINK first and then put it in the slot.
This problem generally doesnt occur with the FIREWIRE connector as theres plenty of room above and below the connetor. and so ur IO Box is Powering UP but fails to communicate with the sound card.

Audigy 2 ZS - Break out Box/Rem

I was wondering about this, is there any other application that can take advantage of the breakout-box and remote other then what Creative supplies? I find that most of the Creative applications tend to be too. memory heavy, so I was wondering does anyone know any programs that can take use of the Remote/IR?

Since no one else replied, I'll mention that the proprietary white connector (toward the front of the card) has L&R headphone outputs. You'd have to hack it, which mostly isn't recommended, but that's your choice. I haven't tried to use this jack myself, and I'd proceed with great care in trying this if I were you. Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro - Record from S/PDIF

I have an Audigy 2 ZS platinum pro. This is on a newly built computer (I purchased all components including the sound card and built it last week.) The problem I am having is when attempting to record in from the S/PDIF In input.
I have a video capture card in the same computer, using Cyberlink's PowerVCR II software. I have an external DVD player connected to the S-Video input on the back of the Video Capture card, and the audio connected via Co-axial cable to the S/PDIF In connection on the Audigy break out box.
Using the Creative Media Center or my Cyberlink PowerVCR II I am able to hear the audio in on the S/PDIF when playing a DVD. However, when I attempt to record the DVD Video and Audio it is not recording the Audio. I hear it playing as the DVD plays, but when playing back the record mpeg there is no audio.
I have used Adobe Audition to import the mpegs and there is no audio wav form in the mpeg.
I played with the settings for 3 or 4 days and finally got this working. The problem is I installed another video codec after I had it working for a few days, and this video codec crashed my Adobe Premiere Pro, I had to do a system restore to point prior to installing the new codec. This worked to fix my Premiere issue, but it reset the settings on my Audigy card and now the S/PDIF In does not record anymore.
I have played with all of the settings in the Creative AudioHQ Device Controls settings, tried different digital input settings and sampling rates. I have tried using the "What you Hear" selection as the recording device, however I get the same results: I can hear the S/PDIF audio input but the system is not recording it.
I went through and downloaded all updates from Creative and have installed them all, however I am still having the issue.

Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - breakout box not work

I have an an external external breakoput box which was working fine in my old computer. I upgraded the mother board and cpu and installed the Audigy as before. The actual card works but the break out box doesn't light up. If I plug the external box firewire cable in to another firewire port on the computer the power LED lights but that's all. Any ideas anyone?

I am sorry to bump this topic but it is the same as my question and does not seem to have been answered.
I have a Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - my old one which I decided to use in lieu of the on-board sound. I installed the latest drivers I could find SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017.exe (after unistalling the existing ones)
The card itself works fine but the external interface box is as dead as a doornail. The power for the interface is supposed to come from the two connectors.
No lights no nothing - obviously I have checked the leads and the seating of the card itself. Playback is fine on MP3, midi, wave files etc. I have disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS of course.
Unfortunately the jacks on the back of the card are 1/8 in. outputs only and the external interface provides the inputs which I need for recording etc. They are 1/4in proper ones - guitar lead size which are much better.
I know it is an old card but I like it. The last time I used in in my old computer it was fine. Card/drivers show up in the device manager. I have installed this both on a Win 7 partition and a Win XP partition on my 2 HDDs with the same result. :mansad:

Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - ...trying to record with Videostudio, Virtual VCR, Roxio DVD Builder

...just bought (and installed) a SoundBlaster Audigy 2ZS Platinum Pro - the one with the "breakout box" - to replace the on-board Dell audio sound system, which seems to have died after 4 months.
I am able to get good, clear sound from any and all applications that use "playback" audio.
At present, I can get "playback sound" from one program feature that came with my capture device - an Aver Media USB 300, which was plugged in to the "Line in 2" socket on the break out box. Then I tried to record with it... - "Record Operation Failure!" I'm stilll waiting to see what responses I get from the Aver message board in that regard.
Then I tried recording video (and the accompanying audio) with Ulead Videostudio 8, Virtual VCR, and Roxio DVD Builder, none of which could record sound, even in "preview mode". Before the on board sound system stopped functioning, those features worked on all of the above programs except for Virtual VCR, which I hadn't yet installed or tried out.
I've checked the Play/Record Volume Control in "Accessories/Entertainment" and the Line 2 is activated and selected. I've tried plugging in to Line /Mic but that hasn't worked either. I need to go to Radio Shack to get an adapter to plug in to Line 3 and give that a try.
But before I spend even more money, have you ever seen anything like this?

Thanks kindly for the suggestion, during the installation it did not complain about this patch being installed allready, I'll give this one more shot and see if it persits.
I ran memtest on the machine (10 cycles) wow this thing (G5) is loud in single user mode. I guess the fans don't have power management enabled.
I'm guessing that the issue is from lack of RAM, (512) but I am not 100% on this. Though my research points towards that, It's kind of odd that an app would reach into some other memory segment.

3.5mm break out to optical and analog

I got a new iMac with the mini jack combo output (so you can plug in headphones / speakers or use it as an optical output).
I'd like to hook up a set of optical speakers and a set of analog speakers. I was wondering since the headphone jack on the back of the iMac has BOTH but combined into one, is there a break out box or adapter that will allow you to use both digital and analog?
I've searched around online for a while but cannot find anything, does anyone know of this type of adapter?

Hi Steve,
the audio-port on the iMac (and the other Macs as well) has a small micro-switch in it which is used to determine whether an analog or a digital connecter is inserted.
So in essence you cannot get both analog and digital out of the combined port.

Concern:
1 - Whenever Xbox starts up - i have to remove the cable and replug it in for the sound to start coming.
2 - If i play any video or movie - there is no audio heard and after the movie ends - i have to reconnect the audio cable for the system sounds to return. (this does not apply to in-game FMV)
3 - Sound breaks and cracks in some games during multiple loud audio scenes. Such as in Forza3 - a car crash would cause cracking/breaking sound.
Overall most games run fine - I just dont know why no audio is heard when a movie is played! I've tried all different audio setups on the 360 but nothing works (WMA makes cracking worse)
Whats the cause and cure?

?As I?m writing this, I?m losing my sanity. Never in my life a computer hardware has created this much problems for me as this card has. I have Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and yesterday installed a 32 bit Windows XP professional again on my PC. I installed all my drivers and finally got to the Sound Card. I have serious problems with the drivers that are on the CD; if I only install the drivers from there, every time I click on EAX my computer restarts. This was a problem that I had since I bought this hardware 3 years ago. Last time (which was couple of month ago) I found an updated driver in creative website and everything worked fine until I re-installed my windows but I can't find that driver anymore.

First let me say finding drivers for this Sound card in creative support section is an absolute nightmare. Nothing is where it should be. The section doesn?t even have my sound card in their sound blaster list. What a joke.

As of yesterday, I have been unable to find any drivers for this product; nothing. I don?t have sound on my computer and if I go with the original CD installation my computer crashes.

Finally after searching through the forum (do I seriously have to search the forum to find drivers?!!) found a driver called ?SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe? but my god that is even worse! Nothing works after the update. I don?t have any sound on my computer. EAX and other functions are not working. It gives one error after another. I can't even click on them.

Analog inputs no longer working on Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro's external dr

I have an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro. After two years of use without problems, the analog inputs on the external dri've have stopped working. I get no signal from them, not even noise. All 3 inputs are silent, Line in / Mic and Line 2 in the front, and Line 3 in the back. Otherwise the dri've appears to function normally - I get output from the headphone jack, and the volume control knob works. I have not tested digital inputs or outputs, as I currently have no digital devices to connect to them.
I had made no major changes to my computer - software or hardware - when the problems began. I recently added a new SATA hard dri've, but the Audigy dri've did work after that.
I've taken steps suggested in another thread on this forum and uninstalled all Creative software and drivers, used the latest driver package's uninstall program as well as Driver Cleaner, and finally manually deleted everything related to Creative and Audigy from the system registry (and rebooted quite a few times in between). I then installed the original drivers from the CD that came with the sound card (a setup that has worked before), but still the problem persists.
Any ideas on where to even begin looking for a solution? I find it hard to believe that it's a hardware problem, since three inputs suddenly went silent at the same time, and no other connections were affected. Yet I've done as clean a reinstall as possible, and that hasn't solved the problem.
My current computer configuration:
OS: Windows XP Pro (SP2 and all latest updates)
CPU: Athlon XP 500+
RAM: 2x 52 MB
Motherboard: Abit AN7 (integrated sound chip disabled)
Video card: Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro

I don't have a Platinum Pro or the dri've, but a general hardware troubleshooting step I would take would be to remove the soundcard and either move it to another slot or re-seat it. Also, I'd disconnnect and reconnect all cables to and from the card and the dri've. If I had another machine I could try the card or dri've in, I'd do that. If I could borrow another dri've or even another card, I'd test those too. (Swapping parts is often the simplest diagnostic.) Yeah, maybe it's not a hardware problem, but I'd take these steps just to rule out some possibilities.
Edit: And if you can remove or disconnect the SATA dri've and restore the system to the condition before you installed it, that's another good test.Message Edited by Katman on 2-8-2005 2:56 AM

Audigy Platinum Pro does not work for microphone!!! CREATIVE HE

I recently bought the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro mainly for guitar recording. The external unit that i plug my guitar into plays alright through the LINE IN 2 (I find it works better when you don't put a line out to your amp), though not spectacular, but does not play at all through the LINE IN which is designated mainly for a microphone (which i use for acoustic guitars). Even when I try plugging the mic in LINE IN 2 I have to scream to make it just register, and when I do it sounds fuzzy and barely audible. When I first bought it a fortnight ago it seemed to work ok, there appears nothing wrong with my sound blasters and i have tried the recording on a number of different software programs.
The recording dial is cranked and although i don't seem to have the option to use the mic boost which seems strange as it is a powerful computer, the recording level on the sound desktop does not make a difference.
Can anybody help me with this? Is CREATIVE aware that this is common complaint and are avoiding the issue?
Is it something wrong with the hardware or the operating system - Windows XP Home?
If so, should I take the soundcard back? The recording capabilities were the reason i bought this card!

Update.....
Anyway, to resolve this problem (after some discussion direct with Creative Support) I discovered that there is a trick in the Creative Surround Mixer that is not explained (at all) in the documentation, not is it very intuiti've.
In the part of the mixer with all the sliders the box on the left (ie. vol, bass, treble) is the master speaker volume, the box on the right with the single slider is the recording level (the icon above the slider selects the source) and all the sliders between the two boxes control the levels of each source going to the speakers. To ensure a pure recording and prevent any of the input sources going to the speakers you will need to mute any input devices you have connected in this section.
To put it simply, if you don't want your microphone input to go to the speakers mute them in the mixer. Only the single slider in the box on the right hand side of the mixer panel will set recording levels.

Microphone connection problems with SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro

I am using an old SB audigy 2 ZX platinum pro purchased back in 2004. It is installed on a PC that I stopped using it in 2005. The pc has no problems and I have started using it again.My problem is that I cannot connect the microphone. Everything was working fine at the time I was this pc including the microphone.At that time I had installed win xp pro( no service packs were available). But after I had to move physically in another location(connection and disconnections etc)and a pc format I cannot use the microphone again. I am trying to connect it to the front panel and to the appropriate places as indicated in the user manual but nothing is happening. I have connected properly the sound cart and all other components are working fine. I checked whether the microphone is checked to silent mode and all other software/di'vers nonetheless everything is working fine. I am now using Win xp pro sp3. I have contacted Creative and they told me to check the mic boost option. But there is no mic boost option now. I clearly recall that there was one when I was using this pc in 2004 under win xp pro(again no service packs were available at that time).One solution I could think is to format again and install some old version of win xp pro (say 2003 or so) and then update to current. But I do not want to format again since I do not have that version of windows available(copyright issues may also raise) plus for some other reasons I do not think I should mention them on an Internet forum. I also tried to download the latest drivers ans apps form creative ,clean installation from the orginal cd including Daniel_K pack and everything someone could think without solving the issue.Creative during our last communication in a very polite way told me to stop emailing them and try to solve the issue on my own as this product is no longer supported. One thing I neglected to mention above is that the mic boost option is available in the motherboard sound chipset. I checked it in one of my attempts to solve the problem. But it disappears when installing the SB driver. I know that if I manage to configure mic boost in the driver settings I will solve the problem.But once again there is no such option.
