Audigy 2ZS: no sound for Guitar Hero 3 for

Just like in the title I have no audio for the game. I have exchanged my first copy of GH3 for pc for a new one and both without any audio. I've checked all my connections, tried both speakers and headphones, reinstalled the game many times with two different DVD dri'ves, made sure I had the most up to date drivers for my ZS, went into the in game audio options to make sure the volume was all the way up. I can play music and other games without any problem. I just don't understand what the problem is. My sound card has been fine and working for over a year.
I've also contacted the GH3 for pc support and they have been of no help whatsoever, so I thought I'd come here and I might get the attention of some real experts and this problem may have a chance of getting resolved.
So if anyone can give suggestions or help in any way it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

OK well I got a new sound card, a Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.. This new sound card is amazing, magnificent sound quality and the audio in games sounds so much better. And best of all I now have sound In GH3 for PC. Its a great card. They actually come out with new drivers to fix problems, I think they came out with 5 or 6 new drivers since the card was released in October 07.
I still don't know what the cause of my problem was, my guess is that it had something to do with my old sound card or its drivers. All I know if it wasn't for that stupid problem I probably wouldn't have got my X-Fi Prelude.

  • Audigy 2ZS - No Sound!

For Christmas I got the audigy 2 ZS sound card for my 5. Altec Lansing Speakers. I booted up my computer and detected new hardware and installed it automatically and boom I had sound. Then I put in the audigy 2 ZS cd to install eveything and then asked to reboot so I did... then when windows started up I heard the windows start up tune and then it cracks out and I have no more sound. Can't listen to anything. I've tried several time unistalling the drivers and starting from scratch and the same thing always happens I get no sound after completely installing everything. I've noticed a number of people with this problem and I think Creative should finally help us out and give us a solution. I know its not the speakers as I've tried them on another system. Please help me out I've been struggly the past 2 days to try and get this to work and I'm getting tired of it...
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hey,
The only thing i coudl think that might be the problem is when you installed the software and it asked you if you wanted "digital out sound" you selected it and continued with the instalation. That would prevent any sound coming out unless you are plugged into the digital port on you sound card.
Go into speaker settings in the creative folder from the start bar and make sure the digital sound box is unticked.
Let us know if this fails

  • Getting sound for DOS ga

I have read every post concerning the Audigy sound cards and the futile attempts to configure them for DOS games. Creative has moved the I/O port on their older sound cards from 220 to 3E8 on the newer Audigy 2 and to further thwart backward compatibility, this port is not programmable. Shame, shame, shame on you Creative!!!
I have built an awesome PC Entertainment center with a 46" monitor and the Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro for the "best" PC sound on the market and I cannot hear, or even configure to hear, my DOS games on my PC-DOS 7 partition. There is yet to be a better, more entertaining game written than Duke Nukem 3D - but without its sound, the game play is very average. I really want this system to perform.
My Question - Is the Sound Blaster 6 PCI backwards compatible and if so, are DOS drivers included and can this card co-exist with the Audigy 2zs Platinum Pro under Windows 98se and Win XP pro?
I do have an AWE64 Gold and I'm sure I could get that to work in my new computer but I want to keep it in the computer where it is until that system dies. Creative Labs owes every DOS user a very deep apology. PC-DOS is still the only stable operating system ever written for a PC.Message Edited by UnklePork on 02-0-2005 06:42 PM

Actually I do not recommend the Li've! line. It is outdated. Just like using MS-DOS is for running dosgames!
As I said, the dosgames I play run as well or better with either the Dosbox program (easy with the D-Fend frontend) or vdmsound. So I have no need to partition my hard dri'ves and deal with the old tinkering. As far as the dosgames are concerned, with Dosbox they are running in MS-DOS 5.0. I don't need to set up soundcard, cdrom, mouse, video drivers or deal with setting up memory. Dosbox emulates an S3 videocard, SoundBlaster 6, Pro, 8bit, cdrom drivers, Gravis Sound, Disney Soundsource, mouse drivers, joystick and sets memory all automatically! (You just need to set the proper settings in the game's sound setup program.) In fact it gives dos programs a full 640k no matter what devices it loads! (There is a setting to fake a limit as some games think having the full 640k is impossible and won't run.)
If the game runs fine in vdmsound, so much the better, as then the games can run as fast as they like without processor limitations. (Sometimes you'd need moslow.)
Games can be run full screen with either program.
Now, if you insist on using real dos, keep in mind that retail SbLi've cards no longer contain dos drivers on the driver cd. There was a link on the Ali've website within an article about dos emulation on the Li've cards to the dosdrv drivers that were on the older Li'veWare 3.0 cd's. You might also find them on the driverguide.com resource. If you like to use Windows 3., then you won't be able to use the dosdrv drivers. Windows 3. croaks when they are in the Autoexec, Config files. The best way to use them on 98 is to call them from a shortcut to the dos game. You know, the program properties tab where you can specify an Ms-Dos configuration. You put the drivers in a folder like C:\SBLi've or C:\dosdrv and make the appropriate calls within the private auto-exec, config.sys files for the dos program. You click the shortcut, and the game restarts in MS-DOS Mode and loads the drivers you called for. This, or a boot disk works fine. This way you don't bog Windows down with legacy drivers. You'll need dos cdrom and mouse drivers as well. You should call smartdrv. You'll also need emm396.exe, as the SBLi've dos drivers will not function without it.
As far as using my Audigy 2 ZS in dos. There is a set of files I downloaded (some forum poster provided a link). One zip file contains the dosdrv drivers from the Audigy , the other zip contains a way to make it work with the Audigy 2 ZS. So, if I wanted to have some fun I suppose I could try it out. But I find it completely unneccessary. I can use any soundcard (the Audigy 2 ZS, the M-Audio Revolution 7., the Santa Cruz, the Acoustic Edge, etc.) and run all my dosgames perfectly fine on Windows XP.
But, I do know it's fun! So, by all means go ahead and play with getting it to work. After years of that kind of fun I like that developers have found ways to get it all to work without any fussing on my part.

  • Audigy 2ZS 5.1 speaker settings won't h

I've had a problem numerous times. It involves my Audigy 2ZS (Creative) sound card. What happens is that I'll install the most recent software update (driver and Audio Console) for the card and go through the process of making sure the Creative Audio Console recognizes my card as a 5. speaker system (which it is [Creative]). I also make sure that the box is checked to synchronize with the Control Panel in Windows XP. I then make sure Control Panel is set to 5. also. Almost without fail, within a relati'vely short period of time (day/days), the Creative Audio Console has lost the setting and either has Desktop Stereo or nothing as an option that I can chose from as far as a speaker configuration is concerned. I hope that someone of you forum people can lead me in the right direction. Thanks.
    Walter
p.s. one other quickie. Should I get 5 speaker separation on all of my audio output or should I only expect it to get it on PC games?

I'm betting it's your antivirus. Many antivirus programs block registry changes, when when you change the speaker settings, it changes them in the registry. You might check into disabling that and see if it makes a difference.
As for when to expect 5. output, generally when you play something that is 5., you'll get 5. output. Most music for instance is stereo (2.0) so that's what you get when you play it. I suggest turning on "CMSS-3d" which will upmix stereo to 5. for you.
    Enjoy!

  • Problems transferring music from turntable to computer with Audigy 2ZS Plse He

I originally had Sound Blaster PC28. I have installed last year Audigy 2ZS with 6 analog plugs and updated regularly. Everything is fine from burning to playing music of any format allowed. However, last week I tried to transfer vinyl music to my computer using Sony Sound Forge Version 8 and nothing works. Here's what I did. Luxman Turntable connected with ground to LINE IN ( in DENON amp ) and in the AUX output I have 2 Monster cables boing to my computer twinned on goldplaited /8 jack which is connected to the second (from right) LINE IN in the sound card. This done while referring to Manual & Getting Started Demo Creative program in the software. NO SOUND AT ALL COMES IN the computer - while the music is playing qell on my audio system player. I've done all kind of adjustment with the Microsoft Volume Play & Recording Controls and with Creative Mixer.
I can only distinguish on Sony Sound Forge two volume bars that there is some faint connection fluttering . I still tried to record but upon playback, there is no visual waving lines illustrated in SoundForge window nor sound played back. I expected that. What am I doing wrong or is Audigy 2ZS not suitable for such ? FYI, I tried the other5 jacks on the sound car ( adjusting to WHAT U HEAR or LINE IN controls ) .
The infos in Creative manual and software demo show the 2nd jack of analog sound card from the right being used as a LINE IN for cassette, synthesizer & cd player ( Iguess it goes also for truntable ? - i tried with cd player and it does not work either ) Third jack from the right is only for microphone (also tried but does not work either) . Sorry for lenghty description, I tried all I could . Am retired 7 yrs old and i wish to transfer all my jazz vinyls to puter inorder to make cds. Kindest to All for your help. Merci beaucoup !

  • [Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS] Sound cutting out in middle of gamepl

I have Vista, and I never had this problem with XP.
I downloaded the Vista drivers and have ran Windows Update for all the missing drivers.
    When I run dxdiag.exe
I go to the sound tabs and find this.
The file ctaud2k.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
    For Sound
    and Sound 2
Sound 3 says everythign is fine.

I've found that Audigy series cards "cut out" if you alter speaker properties in Vista Control Panel.
Creative umm... bug I think that's what they call it...
    For example
I find 6bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality) is the highest quality I can set.
I've seen it on Audigy 2, Audigy 2ZS and Audigy 4. Win32 and Win 64.
Is your adapter set to studio quality If so - that's most probably it.
    Hope this helps.

  • SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording

    Hello!
I am having problems setting the source for recording. I want to set the recording source from 'Wave' (default) to 'Line-In /Mic'. After doing so with the mixer or the MediaSource Player it resets to 'Wave' after some time. Why? Can I force the software to make 'Line-In /Mic' the default setting? It really dri'ves me nuts to see that the source has changed without me being notified. I want to have the source changed only by myself and not by some cozmic radiation, God's will, voodoo magic and whatnot.
    Greetings
    ClustalW

<Re: SB Audigy 2ZS Plarinum Pro: setting source for recording? Okay ClustalW, I understand the "Default" problem you are having. So can you go to control panel, and sound and there look at your recording devices and tell me what do you see? If your desired device is there, you can choose it as the default and then throughout the rest of windows, this will be THE global default recording device or the first choice, when you are in other programs to record from. Also, make sure your device is plugged in when making this change. On my system with that board, a few years ago, I could make the choice, but it would always pick something else when the source was unplugged. For example, if I were using the front bay inputs as recording, when I would unplug them and reboot, my system picked the next thing as default.
Next go into to your Creative Control panel and do the same thing there. Theoretically your choices should be linked, but this is not always the result. I can choose mine in Vista and windows 7, but lastly I always go to the Creative mixer applet and do it there and that works best. For me, my default is my front panel Mic or Microphone FP but as soon as I unplug it, it wants to make my back mic jack the default.

  • Still no fixes for Audigy 2zs problem

I still have major issues with my Audigy 2zs in many games, yet I still see absolutely no updates on the drivers. Have you completely abandoned you customers now?
If I install your bloatware to get the functionality, I get crash after crash, yet if I just use the driver, I get only 4 hardware voices, and many sounds are simply dropped. This is in World of Warcraft, Doom 3, Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament 2003, Diablo 2, and even games as simple as Bejeweled 2!
As long as you continue to leave your old bugs in place, I will not support buying any of your new products. I will continue to tell people that your products are crap because you refuse to actually support them. If Nvidia or ATI had pulled this ind of crap with their products, they would have gone under by now. We've already seen this happen with 3dFX and S3. Don't you people learn from history?

I just recently found out about the VIA and Creative problems in the past. I know the SiS chipset is good too! I had this 2zs card in an Asus SiS chipset motherboard and it worked flawlessly. Now, in this VIA chipset motherboard, I'm having all kinds of trouble. I can't justify buying a new motherboard when I only bought this motherboard 2-4 months ago! I wish I knew of these issues before buying a motherboard with a VIA chipset!!
Does anyone know of a solution or know if Creative is even working on a solution? That Beta driver's been out for more than a month now! I hope when the final revision of that driver comes out, it will address this issue! If not, I don't know what I'm going to do!!
And with all the problems I've seen people having with the X-fi cards, I'm not even going to consider going in that direction (especially since a lot of people having trouble with the X-fi card have motherboards with the VIA chipsets).
Any help is greatly appreciated! I've spent countless hours searching the web for an answer (which is something I shouldn't have to do in the first place, but that's another story) and have come up with nothing! The ONLY reason why I'm sticking with this Creative card is because I really like EAX in my PC games, and especially EAX Advanced HD 4.0! When functioning properly (which is not as often as I'd like), it sounds amazing!!

    Thanks for your reply
I am sorry for the problem you are facing.
To achieve outputs from all the speaker during speaker test, you will need to have an analog connection, or digital DIN connection.
That will be possible if you connect the three line out jacks on your soundcard, to the three audio input (analog jacks->green,black,orange) on your speaker, if it has this connection. Or, you may connect them using Digital DIN, if they have this connection.
If you are using digital connection (coaxial, optical), there will be no way to achieve sound output from all the speakers during 5. speaker test, as they carry stereo signal.

    Thanks for your reply
Your soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS
Your speaker is Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500
You will need to have a 3:3 cable(with the color green, black, orange)
to connect your soundcard to your speaker, to achieve the 5. effects
    with games.
    Below is the connection:
    - Connect line out jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Front' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the green color
    connection
    - Connect line out 2 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Rear' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the black color
    connection
    - Connect line out 3 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Center/Subwoofer' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the
    orange color connection
Once you have done the correct connection, play the game DOOM3.
Ensure you have selected either the EAX or surround option in the game
    settings.
    Does it work?

    Thanks for your reply
All commercial digital connection eg. optical or coaxial cable will only
carry PCM stereo signal. If you want to output the signal to a surround
    5. with extra EAX environment effects, it will not be possible at all
since it is only restricted to stereo channel signal.
As per current industry limitations, we are bound to follow the standard
one-signal output for all our SPDIF and Optical output jacks. This is
something that is currently shared by all vendors for all products.
Please note that all games are not dolby digital, even they are , it
will require certain motherboard to encode it to dolby digital signal,
which our soundcard does not support.
You can only use analog connections to gain true 5. surround for
    gaming..

    Dear Martin
    Thank you for the reply.
Computer games written with support for 3D audio do not require a Dolby
Digital Interacti've Content Encoder (DICE) to output multichannel sound,
with no exceptions. Sound devices that support the real time encoder
technology from Dolby will simply receive the multichannel wave file
output and encode it in real time to a somewhat modified Dolby Digital
bitstream. Creative does not support the Dolby Digital Interacti've
Content Encoder on any of its sound cards.
The only difference between a Sound Blaster card and an audio card that
has a real time encoder, is that you can make a one-wire, digital
connection from your audio card to your home theater receiver and enjoy
discrete multichannel sound from the game. However there will be a
continuous, slight delay, known as "latency", as the encoder is creating
and transmitting the bitstream, and of course the compression scheme
being used is "lossy" (i.e. not bit-accurate).
If you want to enjoy 3D audio in 3D enabled PC games in multichannel
surround sound with a Sound Blaster card, it is recommended that you
connect the analog outputs of the sound card directly to the analog
inputs of the receiver. This will require 3 cables for 5. surround
sound, one for front right and left, one for rear left and right, and
another one for front center and subwoofer. Though it requires more
cables than a real time encoder system, it will not have any latency
issues. When connecting PC audio to a home theater receiver, Creative's
latest sound cards such as Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Audigy 2
are likely to provide higher quality audio than any Dolby Digital real
time encode system available for the PC today.

    Hi
One particular game which has "in-game" DD is Farcry; I used this as my
benchmark disc for DD and to push my Nvidia 7800 GTX GPU's (I have tried
    it
on friend's machines and they get the full surround effect so I Know
    this
version is ok. I also have ALL of the game patches & updates.
I would like to point out that while playing Doom 3, Half Life 2,Fear,
    Colin
McRae rally 04,FIFA 2004,Meddle of honour pacific assault, Rome, Shadow
ops, All these games have EAX HD, which is enabled within the options
    menu
"in-game", But I do not get ANY use out of the rear's and I might as
    well
    listen in stereo.
No, inspire 5500 does not automatically switch while "in-game" when DD
is present as you would expect, but does if it was a Movie, which makes
    me
think the DD stream isn't getting to the processor.
I originally thought I could put all this to rest if I could buy the
    control
panel that would have come with the Sound card if I had not tried to
    save
money, but every time I search your accessories site I get completely
    lost,
it really isn't user friendly, the sub-menus are very time consuming and
point you in the wrong direction because they are not categorised as Joe
    public would understand
I downloaded your TEST Movies and creative demo player utility, ran it
    but
still no EAX HD or DD if that were present.
I want to put this card and Processor into my boys computer (which is
    the
same Spec as mine and I will update to the FX series, but I am unwilling
    if
I cannot find a logical reason why this set-up cannot work first.
Would it have anything to do with the pins on the Digital out on the
    sound
card plug, the one I bought and was attached to the last email? Only
    sending
certain channels down to the processor?

If you are having a digital connection, it is normal for only get only

    Detailed Problem Description:
I have the above Sound card.
    I also own Inspire 5. amp/processor
I Wanted to save money by connecting above sound
    card to amp/processor
Connections on sound card made life very difficult
I contacted Creative for help. you told me to buy
an RCA to mini jack cord which also has other connections, from your
web site, (I tried to find
the product number for you, but your sub-menu
system is so poor I couldn't locate the RCA/mini
3.5 /to phono link for you) this cord connects
directly into the digital in, on the sound card (3.5 Mini jack) to the
    coaxial input on the
    inspire 5. amp/processor.
I have enabled ALL sp-diff settings and digital in
setting on every program/utility/kitchen sink and all.
I have an SP-Diff wire from DVD burner to creative
sound card, and yes its enabled and digital only
    is selected.
I can play a DVD and see the inspire 5.
automatically change from Pro-logic to Dolby
digital when it See's an AC-3 stream.
when I try and play ANY game you say has EAX
,2,3,4 I cannot get any sound from my rear
speakers (see above in Dolby Digital ALL speakers
    work correctly)
when I enter the set-up menu within the creative
software you supply with the sound card and select
    5. speaker, digital only, test the speakers via
the white noise function, all i hear is left and
right noise. no centre, no rears.
I phoned you tech support line, the boy on the
phone didn't have much of a clue about your
product and I had to tell him what connections sit
on the inspire 5. series amp/processor.
I want to build another PC for my son, I want to
add the FX series sound card and amp, but i am not
willing to buy anything until i feel you have
helped me to solve this problem first.
please can you help, I am at the end of my tether
    with this sound card.

  • Vista Drivers for the Audigy 2ZS Video Editor

OK, so I know I'm only one of 20 people in the world who were ever stupid enough to buy one; but I am disappointed to see that there is so far no Vista beta driver support for the device.
Are there plans to ever support it under Vista?
As half of the internals are an Audigy 2ZS sound card for which Creative are developing Vista drivers, the job is surely half done? Modifying the existing USB video capture driver surely can't be too difficult?
Must say, that if this device is ignored under Vista, it will be the last Creative product I ever buy .....
    Nigel

I wish someone from Creative would give a definiti've answer to this question.
I've had the Video Editor for about a year so it's hardly old technology, and Vista was in development last Summer. The Audigy ZS sound drivers are being developed for Vista, how diffcult can it be to get the Video drivers modified to run under Vista?

  • Loud crackeling noise and barely any sound-Audigy 2zs, Dell Dimension 2

I just installed audigy 2zs into my Dell Dimension 2400 and all Im getting is a loud crackle, like static, out of my center speaker (logitech 5. Thx). There is a faint bit of sound in the background also, and no sound at all from the other speakers. Any suggestions? I think I have all the drivers installed and all the tests have passed. Thx.

I have also had some issues with the sound card popping and cracking. It only happens when I am either playing a cd, DVD or a video game. I have a Compaq Presario 2500 laptop, dvd/dvd-rw dri've Maxtor usb2 external hard dri've, Targus 7 port usb2 router, wireless mouse and keyboard, and finally my Audigy 2 NX sound blaster. Seriously I have tried everything and to no avail. I have even wiped the computer just for kicks. I only had the sound card working properly but it didn?t last. What I did was to uninstall the drivers for the DVD dri've and shut down the computer. After the computer started back up it reinstalled the DVD drivers and I had good quality sound.... or so I thought. About 2 days later the same problem arose and I uninstalled the drivers again but this time it did not fix the problem. I have the windows updated, DVD driver?s updated sound card updates EVERYTHING but I still get the static in the speakers only when I am trying to listen to a cd play a video game or watch a DVD. When you have a 4 thousand dollar sound system connected to your sound card would expect good sound from it. Plus the email technicians have emailed me a million things to do but have those worked? NO! I am starting to think that Creative doesn?t care about its costumers anymore. I have seriously thought about getting a different sound card but I have not. I like my 7. surround sound when I listen to mp3 and watch movies that I have ripped on the computer. Someone please give me some advice this sound card is really trying my patience.

  • Guitar Hero III for G5 / OS 10.4.10 multiple crashes

This might be the wrong forum, but as there is no "gaming" forum, I'm posting here.
I've just installed GH III on my G5 with Dual-Core Intel Xeon running OS 10.4.10 - 256 MB of VRAM, my video card is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. I fit all the requirements on the back of the box.
What I've been trying to do somewhat successfully is to play the game out my second monitor port to be displayed on a 36 inch Panasonic plasma. I set the display to "mirror display," and that works for a few minutes then the game crashes. I've tried not using the plasma and just displaying the game through my regular monitor, but it still crashes quite a bit that way as well
It might not even be a monitor issue, but I'm just trying to figure out why Guitar Hero would suffer so many crashes on my system. I do have two external hard drives hooked up via firewire, not sure if that could be an issue as well.
If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

I haven't updated to 10.4.11 yet since this computer's main purpose is for audio recording, and it's running Pro Tools 7.3.1 and Final Cut HD and various other programs. Every update we have to wait awhile to see if any bugs pop up or if it will still be able to run Pro Tools.
We've had trouble in the past updating one program causing a chain reaction of other that puts the computer out for a day or two as we scramble for missing updates or purchasing new software versions.
Could the lack of the OS updated be causing Guitar Hero III to crash frequently?
