Audio digital output does not work.

I'm having a hard time with this problem. I have a Toslink cable to plug the iMac with a a/v receiver. I plug the cable but the iMac won't recognize it and in sound preferences it will show that it's headphones and no sound is coming. Same cable and same setup works perfectly with the Macbook. As soon as I plug the cable to it, it shows that it is digital output in the sound preferences.
In short, the problem is that the iMac does not activate the digital output when the toslink cable is connected.
Any ideas about how to solve this problem? I am crossing my fingers for not having a hardware problem.

Have you tried looking for a bit longer miniplug adapter for the Toslink? It is that the digital plug is a little longer that it can activate the switch inside.
If not, it is under warranty. Arrange to have it looked at.

RH 5.5 output does not work properly in RH 7

I inherited a WebHelp project created in RH 5.5. I have RH 7.
When I open the files, make modifications, and recompile them, the
output does not work properly once I put it on our hardware box.
Those infamous red squares are present and there seems to be a lot

and include all the files, and delete the red squares, it still

When you view the upgraded source files in RH7, are the red
squares seen the editor?
When you generate to a local folder and view the output
there, are the red squares present? Are there any other issues with
the generated output?
Have you applied all three patches to RH7? Help About should
show 7.0.3.

Drivers 2.84: audio control still does not work

is still got the same problems i already had with the v1.13 drivers. The soundstorm panel output sliders don't. They just don't work at all. The windows "sndvol32.exe" works fine though. I am running a german windows XP. I deleted all localized .dll's as the are unusable anyway. ( I donno who has done translation and QC at NVIDIA)
And my major problem:
Under Input / Record there is no recording device available. (Digitzed input is there)
to sum things up:
- The output sliders still do NOT work at all
- There is still no recording device selectable
- Localization got better, but is still unusable (same prob as with the 41.xx video drivers. the text just does not fit in the panel, which looks garbled)

but, i already tried it. I switched every possible thing to english(USA). removed the old drivers, cleared the registry, installed from scratch ... The Soundstorm Control still does not work. I guess it's because i am running a german Windows XP ( Though i really switched everything to english..)

All of a sudden audio in youtube does not work? OK in IE though

all of a sudden when I play a video in YouTube the audio does not work. Works fine in Internet Explorer though.

I see you are on Windows 7. Have you accidentally muted Firefox? While Firefox is running, try right clicking on the volume icon in the task bar and choose ''Open Volume Mixer''. Here you have options to mute the whole system or individual programs. Check to be sure you haven't muted Firefox by accident.
If that doesn't work, you can also look at the Knowledge Base article [[Video or audio does not play]]. There is lots of good stuff in there about troubleshooting different multimedia plugins.

LC digital signature does not work in Reader

I have added a signature field in a LC form with expectations that it would work in Reader.
I can see the field but it does not work in Reader. I have opened the form in Acrobat and the signature field works.
Any ideas on resolving this?

As I do not have LC Server I used Acrobat Pro to save as reader extended which solved the issue.

Qosmio X500 and HDMI output does not work automatically

Good morning.
I have a Qosmio x500 recently that runs on Windows 8.1
Previously, when I plugged in a hdmi cable from the PC to the TV, I had ( Samsung TV ), after a beep on the PC , automatically binding and made ??the TV is lit ( if it was in standby).
I could even control the PC with the TV remote control, put a movie , pause, etc.. Super convenient!
Source indicated on the TV Anynet + Toshiba pc.
And when I commutais with the TV remote control on TV, the PC screen is lit .
Off, despite repeated attempts with at least 5 software (drivers ?) Different Toshiba certified HDMI, I do not have it and I have to manually switch to see the PC on the TV (choose HDMI source on the TV) .
HDMICtrlMan is a folder where after installation, there are:
ChangeOutput.exe
HCMSoundChanger.exe
HDMICtrlCfg.exe
HDMICtrlMan.exe
But nothing works !
I also updated the video and audio driver: gforce gts 360m
But now I hold!
And I do not know the logical progression of the computer when you plug an HDMI cable (totally depends on the graphics chip ?).
If someone has an idea or experience of this problem, thank you in advance

The problem is that you changed to a Windows system which is NOT supported on this notebook.
Of course you can use Windows 8.1 on this Qosmio X500 model but this does not mean that all notebook features would work properly.
Windows 8.1 is completely different and many Windows 7 tools and utilities are not compatible with Win 8.1
I dont know if this will help you but the Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver is very important software when in comes to use Windows 8.1 on Toshiba notebooks.
Try to install this Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver released for Qosmio X870/875 series.
But if this will not work, I dont see any other possible solutions.
Either you will give up the Windows 8.1 and will switch back to supported Win 7 or you would use Win 8.1 but without the automatic HDMI support.

Digital Copy Does not work

i have bought triple play blu ray with digital copy and when i try to redeem it does not recognise the code

The person at that number did not work for 20th Century Fox or have any idea what I was talking about.
I called the number on the case. They did not really understand the problem (suggested I update the firmware on my Blu-Ray player). They referred me to http://support.foxdigitalcopy.com. You can obtain a new serial number there, just not for this particular movie.
They have a different number, 866/520-6606, but only answer it Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm.
At this point, I'm just going to try to take the path of least resistance and return it to Amazon as defective.

As to what exactly is damaged/faulty, no there is no certain way to tell. It could be the iPod's audio chip or something else on the logic board.
Either way you'll need to have your iPod serviced/replaced either by Apple or a third party company.

Open dataset for file output does not work

I have the following code
OPEN DATASET MY_FILE FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING NON-UNICODE.
MY_FILE is a selection parameter for the filename but when I put any file name, say C:\tmp\test.txt, the code does not create the file for writing. If I create the file manually from windows so that I am sure it exists (Right click-> New -> Text File -> test.txt), SAP still does not open the file for writing.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have searched the net and the forums but I can't seem to get a useful answer...

Thanks. I kinda missed this from the documentation:
The file must be accessible from the application server. You cannot use OPEN DATASET to process files on the current presentation server (whether PC or workstation). The function modules WS_DOWNLOAD and WS_UPLOAD exist for this purpose.

Satellite L300 - VGA output does not work

I am attempting to set up a media center via my Toshiba L300 laptop by connecting it to my VIZIO 37" LCD via the VGA (RGB) port to the component in the TV.
I connected it all up, but the TV consistantly says "no signal".
Is there something that I am not doing properly?
The control panel also says there is only one monitor installed on the laptop and I am told that there is supposed to be two installed as the TV serves as one of them.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?

I did however get it to work properly via a VGA (RGB) cable directly to the back of the TV. There is an input jack in the back of the television and it's working properly that way. I'd still like to use the component cables though if possible due to rendering better quality. Thanks again.

S-video output does not work with iOS5.1.1 via ipod dock

After upgradig my Touch to iOS5.1.1 I cannot see video etc. on my TV via my Ipod Dock.
It was working fine before the upgrade.
The ipod is telling me, that it's connected to the TV, but nothings appears on my TV.

I have tried to contact Apple Support but I have not succeded finding out how to contact them about the bug.

I have the same issue with my iHome iW1 AirPlay. After updating both my iPhone 3gs and ipad 3, it cannot use my iW1 with airplay. Also when I plug one of my iOs device to the iW1 I get the infamous "Charging is not supported with this accesory"....
Anyone got a workaround?

Valid shared variable output does not work!

I am having a problem getting the string to shared variable to function correctly. Specifically the "Valid Shared Variable?" output. It always give a false output even when I know the variable is deployed. Could it be that it only functions correctly on shared variables from the localhost and not a remote system? If so is there another way to check?

The DLL is included in DSC, but if you have 2009 you may have to relink it. There is a boolean output for valid in this as well. Pop this in a subvi, and you have the functionality you are looking for.

Audio input suddenly does not work

The audio input on my macbook has been working perfectly fine for the past 3 years until today. In GarageBand it doesn't even pick up any sound whatsoever. I have the preferences set to audio-input as my default input recording. If I barely move my cable out of my audio-input jack I can pick up sound for a few seconds. I tried different cables and bought a new adapter. What can be done to fix this or is it a soundboard issue?

Actually... before you do that - go into system preferences under sound and see if you can get a signal on your input.

Optical digital audio input does not work

I am trying to record some of my old DCC cassettes onto my imac, however, for some reason the optical digital input does not work.
I have searched everywhere, tried all settings in audio/midi setup.
I did notice that when I connect the digital cable to the output, the build in audio automatically recognizes it, and switches to 'digital output'.
Analog input does work fine. I am running a 3.06 GHz intel core 2 duo with mac os 10.6.8. Digital cables are fine too (can play on my receiver).

iPad audio output does not work, except for on Siri. The mute button is not on, and the volume buttons have no effect/ don't work (unless Siri is open). I have reset the iPad, tried iOS7 and iOS8 resets, which didn't help. The audio output mostly works when headphones are out in, but has a tendency to cut out from time to time. Without headphones, Audio might start working again briefly from time to time, but most the time it doesn't. Any ideas on what is wrong with it and how to fix it?
my iPad is a 3rd gen, 16GB wifi only model, if that helps

iOS 8 isn't even out yet. If you are running iOS 8, I assume you are a developer and if you are, you are in the wrong forum to try to get help. If you are not a developer and you're running iOS 8, maybe that's why you are having problems on the iPad.

The type that I made bold doesn't make sense. Is this a typo and you mean that " headphones are not in"?

And you know they are incorrect because you get sound here and there from time to time? That fact doesn't prove that something isn't working correctly inside. You could very well have a bad connection inside the device causing this, but somehow you seem to know that's not the case.
