Borderless image, scriptable

I'm pessimistic about this at my skill/knowledge level, and (unless Applescript is able to do some things I'm not expecting) it has to do with Applescript in only a peripheral way. But I'll ask anyway.
Briefly, I'm looking for a way of opening an image file in such way that the screen image has absolutely no border -- not a border that's part of the image and not a window border. No border.
Actually, I've found FFView.app (freeware downloadable via macupdate.com) which does this very nicely (see for yourself), but is barely scriptable -- it produces a rectangular image display that indeed has no border. But the display isn't a window, or at least it doesn't act like one in my estimation.
My Applescript requirements for controlling this image might seem relatively modest (open image file, close image, and, the most difficult, "get/set bounds.")
How FFView accomplishes the borderless image is beyond me. Ideally, I need to find a scriptable image browser that can display an image file in a window that's been stripped of its border but still can be ordered around by Applescript. Despite a lot of looking, I haven't found any such thing. In fact, most "conventional" image browsers don't seem to be scriptable at all.
Am I missing something? Suggestions? Ideas?

The application won't allow you to add from it's dialog, but you can open an image from the Finder or use an AppleScript to add to the playlist. The following script will add a number of items to the playlist, where you can select one to view (I enabled the playlist drawer to let you choose). SInce this is a movie player, set the repeat preferences to "Repeat Single Movie" so it will stay on the selected playlist item.
<pre style="

font-size: 10px;
margin: 0px;
padding: 5px;
border: 1px solid #000000;
width: 720px;
color: #000000;
background-color: #FFEE80;
overflow: auto;"
title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
tell application "NicePlayer"

try -- get the playlist
set ThePlayList to (playlist of window 1)
on error -- no window
set ThePlayList to (make new playlist)
end try
tell window 1 -- change some properties
set bounds to {100, 100, 740, 580}
set playlist is showing to true
set fixed aspect ratio to true

  • One pixel around borderless image in table

    Hey,
    I have an image in a table. I set the background color of the
    table to a greyish blue, because the table is taller than the image
    and i want there to be color below the image in the table. BUT ONLY
    in the table. The width of the table is the same as the image. For
    some reason, there is one pixel of the background color of the
    table around the jpg, and I cant get it to go away. I tried
    cellpadding="0", but that didn't do anything. I also tried negative
    numbers, but taht didnt do anything either. Am I SOL or can I put
    this image in the table without having the background exceed the
    image?
    Simple:
    <table width="600" border="0" align="center">
    <tr>
    <td width="216"
    background="../../Images/tablebgcolor.jpg"><p><img
    src="../../Images/Old Main.jpg" alt="" width="216"
    height="332"/></p>
    </td>
    <td width="374"> </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    Note that I used the image of the background color instead of
    setting the background color itself. In either case it's the same,
    and I can't get a different result. Thanks for the help,

    What happens if you remove the <p> tag around the
    image?
    <p> tags have a default padding, so unless you zero
    that out or move the
    image of of the <p> you'll get some spacing around it.

  • I can't print images on anything but 4X6 inch paper. What am I doing wrong?

    Print settings and preferences have to be set to the size of media that you want to print on. Some imaging software will default to 4X6 inch photo paper, when you select printing a "photo" or "borderless image" for printing. The settings need to be adjusted in order to select other media, sizes may be shown on more than one tab of the software.

  • Cp6 TOC - video size and image border

    Hi,
    There seems to be a number of changes to the TOC in cp6 32 bit. Can anyone confirm whether they are having the same issues ?
    a/ The video space size is now 4 pixels narrower. It was 196 by 144
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/830658
    and it now appears to be 192 * 144 according to the help. .  We want to know whether this is right as it means we have re-encode videos.
    b/ images now have a border when placed in the TOC. We have a logo with a white background on a white stage so it stand out. There doesn't seem to be an option to turn borders off

    Hi,
    The video space size and the border has definitely in 5.5 was also 196.
    Can you confirm the height as well
    Could you advise the border on the images in TOC information as this makes adobae captivate causes look poor as Borderless images are the norm in graphic design.
    1. video size
    The published size is 192 in 5.5 and 6
    It used to squash it in 5.5, but it now gives an error message and then squashes it
    In 5.5 in section non interactive objects and media - > using slide video -> best practices to use slide video effectively it is listed as
    "Video dimensions:
    Ensure that the video object dimension is the same as that of the original video for optimal quality.
    Do not change the aspect ratio of the video even if you cannot maintain equal dimensions for the video object and original video. Otherwise, the video loses quality.
    Keep the dimensions of a video that you want to include in the TOC as: Height 144 and Width 196."
    In 6 you get an error message saying it should be  192 * 144
    This blog also gives the same number

  • Lightroom 4 printing issue

    I recently got a new printer: Canon Pixma MG7520. When printing with Lightroom 4, I choose borderless printing. The printer works great, but it seems to crop off about 1/4" of the photo all around.. I've tried selecting different paper settings, but nothing seems to work. The preview in Lightroom shows the entire photo. This cropping only happens when printing. Has anyone run into this problem and know how to resolve this?
    Thanks in advance!
    M

    It took me a bit of fiddling but I was able to print borderless images from Lightroom 4.4.  I'm using Windows 7.
    In Lightroom, on the Print tab,make sure that your margins are set to 0 and the your cell size sliders are all the way to the right, in my case height of 4.00 and width of 6.00.
    In the Printer Properties, set to Borderless.
    In Lightroom there is a couple of pixel white border on the right of my picture, evident in the first screenshot, but it doesn't appear on the actual print.  I hope that this helps somebody.

  • N-up workaround not working

    Having upgraded from iPhoto 07 to 09, I found myself without N-up. A quick search pointed me to workarounds described in threads such as http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1178557 and http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1885841 where people used the layout menu to print more than one page per sheet.
    However, when I attempt this same thing I do not get borderless photos printed side-by-side. Instead, everything has a big white border on it. If there are two pictures on a single 4x6 sheet, each picture has a white border. Same with four pictures on a 4x6. I've made sure borderless paper is selected each time I've attempted to print. Is anyone else having this problem? No one in the other threads I mentioned seem to be experiencing this.
    As another user who greatly misses n-up, I would very much appreciate any assistance in getting this workaround to work for me. And yes, I did make sure to leave Apple some feedback asking to add N-up back in

    Sorry, my bad, yes it was iPhoto '06 that I upgraded from.
    Looking back on the two threads I mentioned, I don't see anyone actually saying that the pictures were without a white border. The whole point was to find an option that didn't have "wasted space" (the contact sheet option), which is where I made this assumption.
    Still, it should not print with a white border since it is printing two borderless images on one borderless page. I understand that this is just the way it is, but from a desktop publishing standpoint it's an oversight.
    This means that there still isn't a real work around for printing n-up.
    I was able to get iPhoto to produce something similar, but it has a lot of steps and isn't very easy at all. (I was hoping to find a solution that I could easily explain to my mother..):
    Use the postcard creator (which uses a 4x6 format) and select the Photo Collage theme. Do your stuff, preview as PDF, and then only print the first page.
    Does anyone know of any possible alternatives? Is there a way to modify the Post Card templates to not have the second page, and to print from iPhoto, perhaps?

  • Android bitmaps have slightly transparent bounding box?

    Hi all,
    We have just released a game to iOS and Android markets today, compiled with AIR3.2.
    On the Android version, on all devices, we notice that all bitmaps (with transparency) have a slight alpha (estimate maybe 5%) white bounding box - this does not happen on iOS.
    Every bitmap that is not a solid colour - so that means ALL sprites, background tiles, buttons etc - look like they are sitting on top of a 5% white box.
    We use bitmap.draw to draw a MovieClip to a bitmap for all the sprites.
    Has anybody come across this before and know why this is happening?
    Cheers,
    Peter

    use inline styling in an html snippet:
    <img style=="border:0" src="/image/location/pic.ext" alt="borderless image" />
    Remove one of the equal signs '=' from the style so that it looks like style="border:0"
    I added two equal signs because when properly written the forum script rewrites the code to look like style="#"

  • D7460 Photosmart cuts off borders on 4x6 paper in tray

    Photosmart D7460 with 4x6 paper tray.  Windows Vista.  Printing from the Microsoft Photo Gallery.
    Have tried phone support and live chat to no avail.
    This printer comes with a 4x6 paper tray and when I print to it, all photos are cut off at the borders so most heads look flat.  Have found no solution except to use 8.5x11 paper and print two 4x6 photos and then cut them out.
    Can anyone help with proper settings specifics or is this not possible?  'would like to know that also.
    Thanks

    Hi there,
    Unfortunately, the printer doesn't know exactly where the page is.  That is, it doesn't knwo the exact position and skew of the page, so overspray is necessary to create a borderless image.  You can print images with borders, or you can get some chopping of the image.  Add to that, the aspect ratio of the original picture and the paper may not even be the same.  For example, a 4x6 is not the same aspect ratio as 5x7, and neither of these are the same as an 8x10.
    I think (can't verify right now) that if you print your pictures from the front pane, you can actually control where the cropping occurs, so you don't end up with tops of heads being removed.
    Again, apologies, but I hope this helps somewhat.

    Actually, your code is working fine, as there are no returned errors, asserts or crashes.
    The reason you are just seeing a gray box, is that the display performance is set to the lowest level in InDesign Server for performance reasons.
    Hint: Open the document in "desktop" InDesign, right click on the image, and look at the Display Performance settings for the image.
    See
    Ken Sadahiro, "[CS2 Server] Controlling display performance, how?" #1, 23 Feb 2006 8:01 am
    You can of course programmatically change it to the normal or high res settings from within your plug-in, but it might slow down the performance of InDesign Server a bit.
    One additional comment:
    In your code where you do this:
    importFileCmdData->Set(db, sysFile, kMinimalUI);
    I would do this, just to be safe:
    if (LocaleSetting::GetLocale().IsProductFS(kInDesignServerProductFS )) { importFileCmdData->Set(db, sysFile, kSuppressUI); } else { importFileCmdData->Set(db, sysFile, kMinimalUI); }

  • Bulk/Scriptable Image File Deduplication Tools?

    *Note: I'm not sure if this should be in Sys. Admin. instead. Please correct me.*
    I've got an archive of image files, mostly photos but also vector art, that has gotten thoroughly messed up over years of use by several users. This archive is far too large to handle using something like Digikam which is not, as far as I can tell scriptable. One of the biggest problems is that a single image may have been copied to several different directories, under several different names, possible with different/missing EXIF/IPTC data, possibly in different formats (jpeg, png, Nikon nef, Adobe dng, tiff or svg, eps, pdf).
    Digikam has a "fingerprinting" and matching tool which works very well for finding duplicates. This is almost a perfect solution. **However**, I cannot figure out how to use it in a scriptable, headless manner and using it through the Digikam interface would take weeks.
    Anyone have a suggestion as to how to deduplicate image files programatically?
    Thanks.

    lolilolicon wrote:AUR/findimagedupes seems what you have in mind.
    justinzane wrote:Sure sounds like it! I'm installing now and will give it a spin. Thanks.
    So,
    findimagedupes
    works well for common image formats, but it cannot handle Nikon (NEF) raw files. After RTFM, the algorithm used is quite clear and simple:
    DESCRIPTION
    findimagedupes compares a list of files for visual similarity.
    To calculate an image fingerprint:
    1) Read image.
    2) Resample to 160x160 to standardize size.
    3) Grayscale by reducing saturation.
    4) Blur a lot to get rid of noise.
    5) Normalize to spread out intensity as much as possible.
    6) Equalize to make image as contrasty as possible.
    7) Resample again down to 16x16.
    8) Reduce to 1bpp.
    9) The fingerprint is this raw image data.
    To compare two images for similarity:
    1) Take fingerprint pairs and xor them.
    2) Compute the percentage of 1 bits in the result.
    3) If percentage exceeds threshold, declare files to be similar.
    Since I **need** NEF support, and I dislike/suck at Perl, does it seem reasonable to rewrite/wrap the app in shell/Python/C to handle raw files with dcraw/libkdcraw? Or is there an alternative program/library that handles raw files? Suggestions?

  • Borderless printing washes out image

    Hi,
    I have a MP160 (Pixma Series) that works very well.
    Today I've tried to make some bordeless printing and when I use this option — changing Paper Size from A4 to A4 (borderless), the colors of the images fades a lot, resulting on a very light printed image.
    If I choose back the simple A4 (with borders), the images prints well again.
    I found a way to resolve this, by changing Media Type from Plain Paper to Photo Paper Pro (Media Type under Quality & Media options) and changing Print Quality to High instead of Standard (this option is grayed out for Plain Paper when I set A4 bordeless). But this workaround makes the printer velocity goes down a lot, using more ink (I'm assuming that), even this printing a very little lighter imagem than the A4 Standard print quality.
    Is there a way to solve that, printing borderless on standard quality?
    I'm on Mac osX 10.8.5, printing from Preview app.
    Thanks,
    baga

    baga is right. I've had a couple of different Canon printers, including the one mentioned, and have always had an issue with borderless printing. You may believe, as anyone who is using your product would, that with all settings the same there should be no difference in print quality between bordered and borderless but I can assure you there is. I'm sure baga gave up quickly on this thread since you wouldn't acknowledge the issue. This is apparently the best Canon can offer and is as good a reason as any to avaoid the product if borderless printing is a priority.

  • Borderless printing without cutting image off

    I've been trying to print some borderless 4by6 pictures, on my brand spankin new Photosmart C4480. The problem i'm having is that some of the image always get's cut off. I edit the pictures before i print them so that the aspect ratio matches 4by6 (1.5 or .666, whichever) but alas, it always seems to print the image so that some pixels are missed. Sometimes this can mean a forehead being cut off even.
    As far as i can tell i've got all the image printing options set, i've got the right aspect ratio in the image, I dont know what i'm doing wrong.
    given that it's cutting off all 4 edges, i looked inside thinking maybe it was spraying ink inside (missing the edges) but this does not seem to be the case.
    Advice?

    Hi,
    I have used HP printers before, but I am not familiar with your model.  However, you might look in your print options.  On my printer of another brand, I have the option of printing borderless or not.  If I do not choose this option, it will "crop" my picture all the way around.  Hope this helps!

  • Opening images in borderless windows?

    Does anyone know how to have an image open in a new browser window, that is sized to the dimensions of the image. After doing some research, I know it can be done with Java, but Im not to sure how to do it.
    Ive seen it done from iWeb, but on photo template pages, Im not using the templates, but want the same effect. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Power Mac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Add titlebar=0
    NB: not all browsers support all window features, ie it may not work!
    A workaround would be to make a single html page with the image on it, title this page appropriately (alter the text between <title> and </title> in the code) and have that as your target. That way, when the new window opens, it will have the title that you want, instead of the path.
