Can't connect using wpa_supplicant [SOLVED]

When I was first setting up (latest netinstall iso, x86_64) I was using wpa_passphrase and wpa_supplicant just fine in fetching new packages and the like. I did this about 2 weeks ago (Jan 27). Some time ago when I updated and restarted, I noticed that I was having no luck trying to connect to anything.
I did some searches here in the forums and tried downgrading my consolekit (I was using Wicd), but no luck there. My daemons are pretty bare bones. I'll post my rc.conf shortly.
My last successful wireless web connection was on January 30th. Here's pacman.log:

  • E3000 - WVC210 Cam - Can't Connect Using IP Address

I've searched here and on portforward.com and have read all FAQ's for a solution to my problem with now luck. Prior to contacting Tech Support via telephone thought that I'd try a post here first.
I've had a Linksys WVC54GCA IP Camera running through my E3000 wireless router with zero issues for quite some time. I just added a Cisco WVC210 PTZ IP Cam. My setup went flawlessly and both cameras are operatng independently of one and other and I am able to view both cameras using my DYNDNS.com supplied Web Host URL's away from home and both camera's are working great on my iPhone 3GS.
I have assigned fixed IP addresses to both camera's. 192.168.1.200 for the the WVC54GCA and 192.168.1.201 for the WVC210. I have setup the Port Range Forward as follows:
    Cam1 80 to 80 Both 192.168.200
    Cam1 1024 to 1024 Both 192.168.1.200
    Cam2 1025 to 1025 Both 192.168.1.201
Here's the thing I don't understand. Again, both cams do what they're supposed to, except; on my home network I can connect directly to the older WVC54GCA using its 192.168.1.200 fixed ip address. I CAN NOT connect directly  to the new WVC210 using its fixed ip address of 192.168.1.201. I get an IE error.
I have a feeling that there's something I'm not doing on the router or it has something to do with being on port 1025. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think there is any issue with the port 1025 for the second camera.
The port 1025 will be used to see the camera from outside.
If you are able to see both the cameras from out side that means both the cameras are configured properly and working fine.
What error message do you get when you try to see the camera using the IP address of the camera?
Try using another browser and check if you can see the camera in the network.
Try to ping the IP address of the camera. if you get replies from the camera IP address then your computer is able to communicate with the camera.
What is the operating system on your computer?

  • Wlc 5508: windows 8 can't connect using wpa+wpa2

    Dear All,
    I need your help.
My customer have Cisco WLC 5508 (cisco wlc 7.0.116.0) .
We create ssid with layer 2 security wpa+wpa2.
Using Windows 8, it's can't connect to the wireless lan.
But if I change, the ssid, with layer 2 security wep.
    It can connect / connected.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jerri

This is a known issue with Windows 8.  You need to upgrade your firmware to 7.0.250.X for wireless clients running Win8.
Another thing, choose one:  Either WPA or WPA2.  Don't enable one and "hope" the wireless client will make the choice because most of the time, they won't.

  • Can't connect using SMB, but can with CIFS

I'm trying to connect to a windows share from my PB running tiger. I can connect fine in finder going 'Network/Workgroup/PC_Name/' but if I us the 'Go > connect to server' in finder I cannot.
I click go, connect to server and type "//192.168.0.3/My Documents/' it says cannot find sever. Same if is use the smb prefix.
When I get info on the share it says CIFS://WORKGROUP;MARK@PC_NAME/My Documents/
so I can't understand why I cant connect using SMB, I've checked directory access and SMB is enabled, workgroup is set. I know I've been able to connect via SMB before, not sure why I can't now?

For the longest time I have had an Alias of all my remote PC servers in the Dock. One click and I'm connected. As of 10.4.5 those Alias' no longer work. When I click on them instead of getting the volume mounted and ready, I get a the login window with the Workgroup and User Name asking for the password that should be in the Keychain. I enter the password and click connect and get nothing. No errors, no pings, just the Network icon in the Dock turns into a ?.
I go to the Network Browser and the servers show up in their proper workgroups. I click the server, get the login window, put in the password and get an error that the "Server" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. With three buttons "Delete Alias", Fix Alias", and "OK". If it can't be found, then what is it showing me in the browser?
I have 10.4.4 on another partition for emergency backup use in the event 10.4.5 fails (and it is). I went to 10.4.4 and all works just fine. All this started in 10.4.5.

  • Can't connect using screen sharing app

This has been an ongoing issue for a long time.  Some days I can connect from my macbook pro to mac pro, both running mountain lion using the screen sharing app - some days I can't,  Rebooting doesn't seem to help.  I can always connect by opening finder, selecting the machine and clicking share screen.
EVERYTHING is configured properly - which is why it works some times.  I've had similar problems between other combinations of mac mini, imac as well.  The error I get is:
"Please make sure that Screen Sharing (in the Sharing section of System Preferences) is enabled on the computer to which you are attempting to connect. Also make sure your network connection is working properly."
    Is this so hard?
    me

Using screen sharing at transcontinental distances is commonplace; there's no "other networks" setting here.
There's the IP network and firewall and ISP network configuration, and whether that (in aggregate) allows connections from elsewhere can connect to reach port 5900 (TCP) or whatever you're using.
And whether screen sharing is enabled on-LAN; via System Preferences on Client or via Server Admin on Mac OS X Server and punched through the applicable host-local and upstream firewalls, of course.
As for what IPsecuritas might be blocking or might be routing, you need ensure that passes port 5900 (TCP).

  • Can't connect using differnet startup disk!

I archived everything to wipe some drives clean and manually migrate. Its done wonders to speed up my Quicksilver G4.
I reinstalled Tiger on the old orginal drive (should fail sometime soon; its five years old) and also on a Maxtor 120g (much newer). Strangely, I can't connect when using the Maxtor as the startup drive. Network diagnostics tell me that my ethernet cables aren't connected, among other oddities, such as constantly changing data in the Setup Assistant pane.
When I installed Tiger on the Maxtor, communication with Apple and .Mac was fine (retrieved all account info), but Safari wouldn't connect.
The Maxtor used to have two partitions and was my main startup drive which I archived and zeroed out.
It gets stranger. My MacPro also won't connect if the G4 is unable to connect using the Maxtor! When I go back to using the original IBM Apple drive, everything connects beautifully.
When trying to access the router via browser, using the IBM of course is fine, but using the newly formatted Maxtor, I can't gain access.
MacPro and G4 are connected via ethernet to a DLink DI 624; ISP is Verizon FIOS (which is killer, btw).
Any ideas are much appreciated. BD Aqua?

In passing I'll mention that different brand Drives mixed can have bizarre results with CS or M/S, and though Apple swears you should use CS, (some drives won't boot if NOT CS), I've had to do the opposite on some of mine... or seperate them to different buses.
Back to the problem, (not sure it's a good install because of the Mix!), but 1st I'd get what's my ip...
    http://www.whatsmyip.org/
If that didn't work then I'd try trashing...
/Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences... the whole Prefs folder there.
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration... the whole SysConfig folder.
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppleFileServer.plist
Reboot... of course you dont have to trash them, you can just move them to the desktop to drag back if it doesn't work.
If that doesn't work, I'd ZERO the drive and reinstall.
PS.How long ago where you here_ I think you wouldn't care for little LA that runs from Canada to Oregon now!

  • Can not connect using Server Admin - server running.

Hi there, can anyone help me?
I am running OSX Server Tiger on a Mac Pro G5. It has worked perfectly for several years.
Suddenly I cannot connect to the server using Server Admin either locally or remotely - the machine continues to function perfectly. The only problem is that I can not make any changes and I am nervous! I would prefer not to reformat and reinstall.
I did have some network problems a while ago which meant that I changed some IP numbers manually, and I installed and de-installed an ADSL modem.
I am hoping that deleting a library here or there will solve the problem. Any ideas?
    Thanks, Drew

Last time this happened to me I deleted the server from Server Admin and re-added it

  • Can't connect using ethernet but can connect using Airport

The problem I am currently facing is when I try to plug an ethernet cable into my MacBook Pro I can't get on the internet. At home I use an AEBS and connect fien, but when I go over to a friends house and they don't have wireless I try to hook up using the ethernet cable directly from the modem to connect and I can't.
I open System Pref and it says on the left side under ethernet "Self Assigned IP" On the right hand side it says ethernet is connected and underneath that it says, "ethernet has self assigned IP address and may not be able to connect."
I though this was a problem at his house and when I went home I tried it and I get the same thing. I used to have a Powerbook using Tiger and it did the same thing. Once I turn my Aiprort back on and plug the ethernet cable back into my AEBS I get on line.
Am I doing something wrong? I figured if I just plug in an ethernet cable it should detect it and work.
    Thanks

I am not sure if this is your problem, but I believe a lot of cable modems need to be power cycled if you switch the device that is connected to them. They only recognize the MAC address of the first device that connects to them after they have been power cycled.
Although this was a couple of years ago, I was trying to investigate something (I can't remember what now) and I unplugged my router from my cable modem and plugged one of my computers directly to it. I found I couldn't do anything on the Internet. Later, when I was looking at the Comcast forums, I found the information about needing to power cycle the modem to get it to accept the "new" device.

  • Intel Mac OS X can't connect using 802.1x with TTLS authentication

To login at the wireless network on my school I use the following settings:
802.1x connection with TTLS authentication and TTLS inner authentication set to PAP.
My MacBook Pro logs in, but has a self assigned ip-address and I can't use the network.
On my old iBook and my friend's Powerbook with exact the same settings it works perfect. (and gets an assigned ip-address throug DHCP.
Bug in the Intel version of Mac OS X I guess?

Regarding the post about other intel macs being unaffected, I don't have an imac so I don't know for sure, but the connectivity problems seem to be more widely reported for the macbooks. It's certainly possible they are affected as well, but I was under the impression they were using a different chipset and/or firmware. (note to self, check on that).
What I cant understand is why they have changed the
airport express card for the intel macs, albeit the
processor has changed but that shouldn't affect the
card as that should be processor
The intel macs were largely designed by intel. I suspect that apple provided case dimensions and a specifications list which intel then used for the designs. The wireless cards in the powerbooks were based (iirc) on a pc-card bus. The older airports were based on PCMCIA-16.
In the macbooks, it appears to be a mini-PCI-express. (I had to send my back for noise issues. ASP might tell you what bus it connects to). The benefit to this is better speed and the possibility of future expansion. Dell uses the same connector.
Some side-benefits of having the board designed by intel (or with heavy intel involvement) is that we can already dual-boot windows XP. Wireless seems to work fine if you run windows on the macbook. Therefore, I think this is a driver issue likely to be resolved sooner rather than later.

  • Can't connect using AEBS - driving me insane

hi, hopefully someone out there can help!!
i am trying to connect 2 computers to my AEBS. one is a mac mini and wired, the other is an ibook and wireless.
both of them connect perfectly when i connect them with wires directly into the modem. however when i try and route the connection through the AEBS neither the wired or wireless connection works. this is despite the ibook telling me that it's connected to the internet via airport.
i've called my ISP and talked to them, they gave me all the relevant settings but it hasn't made any difference. the problem seems to be in the AEBS itself.
any thoughts? it's driving me insane...

Hello thecornishman. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Since your Macs are not able to access the Internet either wirelessly or by wire with the AEBSn, try the following, in order, checking for Internet access after each step, until resolved:
    1. If the modem has a reset switch, use it to reset the modem. Wait at least 5-10 minutes for the modem to initialize.
    2. Remove power from the modem. If it has a backup battery, remove this as well. Wait 5-10 minutes. Replace the battery, and add power back to the modem.
    3. Perform a complete power recycle of your network components as follows:
    Modem/Router Power Recycling - Quick
    o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s); Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 5 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
If this fails to get the modem to "recognize" the Internet router, then try the "Full" version.
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling - Full
o Power-off the modem, AEBSn, & computer(s). (Wait at least 30 minutes. If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
o Power-on the modem; Wait at least 15 minutes.
o Power-on the AEBSn; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    o Power-on the computer(s)
    4. Contact your ISP to have them perform a "modem reset."

  • Time Machine can't connect/use shared network volume

    Hi All,
I have a Mobius2 external USB hard drive connected to my iMac (10.9.5). It has two partitions (Disk Utility 13 does not seem to allow more that 2 partitions now), one partition is for Time Machine backups of my iMac. The 2nd partition (as required by Time Machine is a shared AFP volume). I want to backup my MacBook (10.9.5) but I can't get Time Machine to use the partition I set up for it on the Mobius2. Even though I have the volume (named "Mobius RAID 2") mounted on my MacBook desktop, and I added it to Time Machine (entering both the password to connect to the iMac the Mobius is connected to and the password to encrypt the backup with) I still keep getting the error below!
"Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “Jeffrey’s iMac”.
The network backup disk could not be accessed because there was a problem with the network username or password. You may need to re-select the backup disk and enter the correct username and password."
I have removed the shared volume several times from Time Machine and added it back....still get the same error above, even when the volume is already mounted to my MacBooks desktop! I don't know what else to try. I used to Keychain to verify the log in password is correct and it is.
....I can even copy files to the (2nd) partition on the Mobius2 (connected to my iMac) when the volume is mounted on the MacBooks desktop.
So I don't know why Time Machine keeps saying the "networked backup disk couldn't be accessed". Can anyone help? (see attached screen shots)
    Jeff
    Screen Shots:

    Hi Eric,
I was able to change the permissions for "everyone" on the iMac for the connected USB drive partition. But not on the MacBook when this partition is mounted on the MacBook desktop. I get this error saying I don't have the necessary permission to change it from "No Access" to "Read & Write":
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/aq3zme6ew7oatgg/MobiusTMbackup6.tiff?dl=0
I don't even understand why it says "No Access" for "everyone" when I gave "everyone" Read & Write privileges on the iMac for this drive/partition!
You said "Apple officially only supports Time Capsules as NAS backups." but on the page you sent me it says:
"You can use Time Machine with a Time Capsule, and with USB, FireWire, and Thunderbolt disks. The backup disk can be directly connected to your computer or be on a network. If the backup disk has been divided into partitions, you can use one of the partitions."
....."directly connected to your computer or be on a network" = NAS?  If that's what it means Apple needs to be more clear, as my USB drive and its' partitions ARE on a my network, and I can put files on them and access them across my network.
I am trying to get a 2nd network Time Machine backup going as the Time Machine backup of my MacBook became corrupted and I could not restore my mail, even though my mail files were in there, I could restore files but I could not access my mail directory no matter what I tried, Apple has some kind of lock on it now and hides it. I had to resort to my BackBlaze backup to restore my mail, luckily BackBlaze does not hide the mail directory.
So it seems I have a $3000 iMac with a RAID 1 drive (with two brand new 4TB HGST drives) connected to it (that I bought just to improve my backups) and Time Machine and the vaunted "OS X" ("the world’s most advanced desktop operating system") can't handle it. Great.
But I do appreciate your help Eric...
    Come on Apple, FIX THIS.
    Jeff

  • E1500, can't connect using N-mode only

Hello! I just purchased a e1500 to replace my wrvs4400n which sadly died. yea I do loose a lot of features. I set up everything without a hitch but when I try to use Wireless-N mode only, none of my computers can connect to the router and all my computers use N cards. I'm stuck on using Mixed Mode which limits my speed to G speeds. I didn't purchase this to be a G router but an N router and it seems N mode has issues. I am on the current firmware. If someone can help me get N working, that would be greatly appreciated! Vekspec

This may be due to wireless interference. To address this, check your wireless environment by using a tool like inSSIDer. Set your network to use the channel which is least used to help your devices connect to the network. Also, get the latest drivers for your wireless adapters to ensure any software issues get fixed.
