Hi
We have two HardDisc on our SAP SERVER
now we want to add two more Harddisc on SAP SERVER (i will keep my old Harddisc on server as it is)
does it changed my Hardware Key?
Or
when will my Hardware Key change?

2. When changing the computer name.
3. When changing the domain (it will not change back when returning to the previous domain).

Dear Manuel Sandoval,
Try loading the license from the operation system level using SAPLICENSE command also as said above delete the existing old license and install the new license.

Change in hardware key on new installation with same SID

Dear Experts,
Background:
We installed SAP Netweaver 7.3 EHP1 on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and applied SAP License on it.
So there was a specific SID, Hardware key and Installation No to our installation.
After few months our Server machine got crashed and we formatted it.
Problem:
Now we want to install SAP Netweaver 7.3 EHP1 again on same Server machine.
Here question is:
1. Will the Hardware Key be same if I install SAP Netweaver 7.3 EHP1 with the same SID as it was before ?
Note: We want to apply the same license that was there before the crash. But we can apply same license if and only if after installing with same SID as before, system generates the same Hardware Key as before Crash !!
Other Information:
Information that we got from SAP Note (94998 - Requesting license keys and deleting systems ) that :
" For the following data changes, you require a new license key:
Customer hardware key - database - installation number - system ID.

With OS reinstallation , the HW Key will change.
I suggest you apply for a new License with the new Hardware Key.
Was this a Test System??
You said after few Months , the system Crashed.
Have you taken a Backup (Windows System State) ??

Duplicate Hardware Key when tried to request for new license key

Dear Experts,
Our SAP ECC6 license key is going expire in these few days. Therefore, I tried to request for new license key with the same Hardware key at SAP Support Portal, but it showed "Duplicate Hardware Key".
Should I wait for the current one to expire before I could request for new one?

It's not a temporary license.
It just when I tried to get a new license key 1 week ago, the installation number we had was just licensed for MaxDB as database server, therefore, it only gave 2 weeks validity of license key.
Now, we have changed our contract licensed to MS-SQL server.
Therefore, I need to get the new license key based on MS-SQL server. Since, I didn't do any reformating on the server, thus, the hardware key is still the same when I tried to get the new license key.
What should I do?

License/Hardware Key for multihomed Development-Laptop

On my laptop I've installed an licensed a WebAS for development with NWDS. I use the laptop on different networks (different fixed IP's or no network at all). I've noticed that this somehow changes the HardwareKey and thus requires multiple licensed for the same installation.
On the other side we have an installation using DHCP and the HardwareKey does not change.
What aspects (IP, MAC, ProcessorID, RAM, Disk,...) are taken into account for generating the HardwareKey of a J2EE-WebAS?

Take a look at SAP Note 793649 and 174911.
There you will something like that.
"Einzig auf Windows wird ein Schlüssel genommen, der NICHT von der Hardware abhängt. Eine Neuinstalltion von Windows führt definitiv dazu, dass der Hardwareschlüssel ungültig wird."
And a list of actions who change the HardwareKey. (793649)
The following actions will change the Hardware Key:
1. Formatting the machine and reinstalling Windows.
2. When changing the computer name.
3. When changing the domain (it will not change back when returning to the previous domain).
4. On Linux - If you change the network card.
The following actions will NOT change the Hardware Key:
1. When adding a login user for the computer.

my presnt server name is rackserver3 and i want to change name "rackserver3" to "sapserver" but when i am changing this hardware key key also change and sap can't get chance to login so what is solution for that

Hi
The Hardware Key of the B1 Server changes when the Server Name or IP or other related settings change.
The license file has to be downloaded newly for the new Harware Key from the SAP Portal .
Contact your Implementation Partner and ask them to generate a new License File with new Hardware Key of the Server.

Error in license check - Error getting the hardware key

I'm trying to run SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - Java and ABAP Trial Version on Linux - VMware Edition
but I still have a issue to log on, message : "error in license check"
I try everything I found in forums, I have tested the license, see the trace below.

As you are running a Trial version, I do not think HA/ASCS would be relevant for you.
As you found in the dev_ms trace, the port 3601 for message server is not accessible:

Check via command netstat if the port 3601 is free for use. The hardware key is obtained from message server and since this port is not available, neither is the message server/the hardware key. Perhaps a VM restart could also help.

License Installation for Multiple Hardware Keys in SAP J2EE Engine

Hi Everyone,
I have a question to ask that we have a Failover setup in our Client Enviornment.
But for SAP JAVA System I am seeing a Problem :
Whenever Failover will happen SAP System will be moved to different Hardware box
which has different Hardware Key.
1) In SAP ABAP Systems we can install Multiple Licenses for Multiple HArdware Keys
so that whenever Failover happens , no need to apply license for that Hardware key
2) But in J2ee System under License Adapter , I am not able to see any option under the same
to install another License
Under Licnese Adpater Service , I am able to see license of J2ee-engine_ora , maintanance_ora & Netweaver_ora licneses

Error installing license - Hardware Key Empty

Hello gurus,
We have our SAP ECC 6 installed in one Server running AIX. It´s working good.
Now, we have installed a cluster service. If the First Server stops, the cluster service (IBM HACMP) move all filesystems to Second server. The cluster moves also users, IP address and hostname. After move all resources, then the service starts ECC in another physical server.
This process is working fine. But when the SAP ECC starts on the second server, I cannot logon in system because the license key is not valid. I can logon only with SAP*.
So, when I call SLICENSE to get all information needed to get another license, the field Hardware Key is empty.
I´ve tried too by operating system (saplicense -get). I have now the hardware key and the new license file. This file was installed, but SAP system is not working yet. For information, the license appears as valid, but the field is empty yet and the system doesn´t work.
Anybody have an idea to solve this problem?

I always go for complete 2005 uninstall and a brand new 2007 installation.
I never had a change in the hardware key, but hey, you never know with computers, and you don't want to be stuck just because you can't request a new key, correct?

where can I see how long the license is valid of the current installation ( CE711SP1_SDN-Preview CE1 ).
And secodly I would like to know how to obtain Hardware-Key and getting installed.

I have got it.
Once the CE server is up and running, launch your browser and go to http://localhost:50100/nwa to start SAP NetWeaver Administrator. Log on with username Administrator and the master password you defined during the installation procedure.
Download and install a license key
The first step is to retrieve your systemu2019s hardware key from SAP NetWeaver Administrator. Go to Configuration Management Infrastructure > Licenses. Copy your u201CActive Hardware Keyu201D into the clipboard.
Go to http://www.sap.com/minisap fill out the form, and paste your hardware key from the clipboard. Submit the form.

Active Hardware Key is missing in ECC 6.0

I have an issues with my ECC 6.0 system. Once I restart my application server due to hardware maintenance. Since that time, I can't logon to my ECC 6.0 except in client 001 with user SAP*. I found in transaction SLICENSE that my active hardware key is missing...

Do you have a license installed ? (check the slicense status)
You may request a new license in SAP Service Marketplace at http://service.sap.com/licensekey
Please note that as of Web Application Server ABAP 7.0 the license keys are digitally encrypted. Therefore you must request a new license key for your existing or new system if you are using a SAP product based on Web AS 7.0. Request your digital encrypted license key with license type standard and install it as described in SAP note 870871.

USMM Hardware key issue

Environment: OS:HP-UNIX , ECC6., Oracle DB
i have applied sap license in 000 with sap* user id successfully. And everything is working fine except one thing.
That is when i go to transaction USMM the hardware key is wrong it shows A0000000. And hardware key is correct in slicense and at service market place.
Please let me know what i can do.
I have also applied license from OS level and still issue is persisting. SAP restart is also not resolving the issue.

Since you are on NW 7.0 you will have to visual administrator to retrieve the h/w key. On how to do it, use this sap help link:

If you just wanna get your h/w key, you can also log-in to the o/s level using <sid>adm & use the command:
