I recently replaced color cartridge for printer  (HP cartridge, new), frequently stops printing, message "clear cartridge jam".  Have taken cartridge out/ reinstalled several times, retried.  Followed instruction to turn off ...move cartridge to Left, then Right, and clear jam, also w/ unplugging while on.  Intermittently prints, mostly stops...just before stopping, printer making loud scraping sound then stops.

  • C5550 -How do I reset a persistant "Clear paper Jamm" error mesage?

    Hi,
I have a photosmart c5550 all in one printer. I had a paper jam and cleared it using the instructions from the user manual. I have actually done this several times now, and am absolutely sure that there is no paper jam at this point in time. The printer resets to the "clear paper jam" error state on power up. I would like to know the procedure to do a hard system reset, to reset the printer. The reset procedure of removoing the power cord does nothing to clear this persistant error. Does anyone know the proper procedure to do a hard reset?
    Thanks,
    Phil

I clean out the back of the printer to get rid of the paper jam error, only to get the paper jam error again when on half of the sheet goes through the printer.

Is your printer the Photosmart 8050?  If so see the troubleshooting page here.  If not please read this post then provide some details.  What printer model?

  • Paper Jam error message due to broken gear on Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer

3 year old HP Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-one printer (haven't used it much). Keeps telling "Paper Jam" although there is no paper jammed anywhere (searched meticulously with a flashlight after watching HP's tutorial videos on how to clear paper jams). I started searching on the Internet and found a couple of related videos on Youtube that pointed me in the right direction:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHEhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwbF2Vs_0gQ  I could hear a clicking noise on that area of the printer each time I turned it on, so I carefully took the black cap apart that was hidding the gear, and confirmed I had the same problem as in the youtube videos above. See picture below showing the white plastic gear part that has a large crack which causes the Paper Jam error message and renders the printer unusable. After Googling a little bit, seems like a relatively common issue and wonder why such a part like that is not made of a stronger material like metal (planned obsolescence maybe?). Does anybody know if there is a way of replacing the broken gear?  (I really care for the environment and I would like to avoid having to throw the relatively new and expensive all-in-way printer away) Thanks a lot in advance for the advice!

Hey ,  Thanks for posting in the HP Support Forum.  I do see that a cracked gear in your HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer is impeding all functionality.  I would like to help you with this but that particular part is not replaceable.  I recommend you reach out to our tech support team to find out what servicing options you have available. • 6700 jamming error message

I cannot clear the screen message that states I have a ADF paper jam.   I have carefully followed all of the instructions in the HP online tutorial including the reset procedure.  I never found any paper jam at all.  This is a new machine that I just started using at the end of December so all of the mechanisms are clean.  The problem occurred after I printed a page out of a book.  I am not a "techie" so please keep your suggestions suitable for an old lady.

    Hello @GUSE ,
    Welcome to the HP forum.
I understand that you are having a false paper jam message, referring to the ADF. I would like to help.
The following is from HP's document: A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays on the HP Officejet 6600 e-All-in-One and 6700 Premium e-All-in-One Pri...
Here is the part I would focus on:
Solution six: Clear the paper jam from the automatic document feederFollow these steps to clear a paper jam from the automatic document feeder (ADF)
Press the Power button to turn off the printer.
Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Remove any originals from the document feeder tray.
    Figure 26: Remove any originals
Lift the cover of the ADF until it stops.
Figure 27: Lift the ADF cover
Check for any jammed paper in the rear of the ADF.
Gently grasp any jammed paper in the ADF with both hands, and then pull the paper slowly but firmly upward to remove it.
Lift the tab located on the front edge of the ADF to raise the ADF mechanism.
Gently grasp any jammed paper in the ADF mechanism, and then pull the paper slowly but firmly upward to remove it.
    Close the ADF cover.
    Try the task again.
If these steps resolved the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists, continue to the next solution.
Solution seven: Perform a power resetSometimes a paper jam error persists even though there is no jammed paper (false paper jam). Follow these steps to perform a power reset, which will clear a false paper jam error.
    Step one: Reset the printer
Press the Power button  to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button  to turn it on.
Honestly If you have done this already, and the unit is new, I would call technical support.
Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html

  • Receiving a false paper jam error message for a 6310 all in one printer

I have an hp 6310 all in one printer.  It is showing a false paper jam error message with no paper in the printer.  I have tried all  of the fixes that have been suggested on the website as well as on you tube to no avail.  Nothing works, I have cleaned all of the parts that have been suggested to clean and reset the printer. I am still receiving the same paper jam message with no paper in the printer.  Does anyone have any suggestions to try to fix this printer.

Do you here any clicks or other sounds when the 6310 first starts up?
I'm trying to fix false paper jam error on Sharp Fax/copier,F0-4450.
When researching the problem, found suggestion that a bad solenoid could cause that error.
After completely disassembling the copier found that wasn't the problem.
I here 2 clicks during start up that sounds like gear slipping a tooth, as if something is preventing a shaft from turning.
    Back to the drawing board.
UPDATE!!! Took fuser out, turned gears with screwdriver til 81/2x11 paper went thru, lubricated ends of fuser roller with powdered graphite lube.
    3 page fax came thru.

  • HP Laserjet 2430dtn Paper Jam Error

I have got a HP Laserjet 2430dtn and the bit of plastic for the rear paper jam sensor has broken off the printer and as such I now get a permanent 'Rear Paper Jam' error.
Is it possible to disable the sensor so that I can still use the printer or is the printer dead?

Chances are the printer has a small bit of paper that is still jammed in it. When paper jams always try to pull in the direction of the paper path! If it tears then remove the toner cartridge to see if you can see any bits of paper inside. I have the Laserjet 1012 which is a similar design, early in it's life I had a similar issue, after removing the toner cartridge and seeing all bits of paper were gone I still got an error. I then removed the top cover of the printer, located and removed the offending piece of paper, put it back together and now several thousands of pages later all is fine.
If that doesn't work then contact HP's support (they will reply to an email with 24 hours) or go the chat route. If you try to call because you are well out of warranty there will be charge.

  • How to clear device/bundle errors

Hi all: I manage about 100 PCs with ZCM 11.2.4. I need a way to clear all device/bundle error messages, both for bundles and policies, so that the icons on ZCC all show clear. I know I can delete all error messages, but how do I clear all bundle error messages? I want to get rid of the red error icon so I can easily see which computers are getting these errors since they were cleared. Right now the error icon does not go away.
    Thanks for the help, Chris.

C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message  'clear paper jam.'  There is no paper jam.  About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed.  It worked fine since then until yesterday.  I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem.  The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam."  When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper."  I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out.  Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi there pattimessick,
You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!
