Comcast E-mail

I purchased a new desktop PC and can't seem to get my Comcast e-mail to work on it. I was able to download the latest version of Safari successfully and even access www.comcast.net. However, everytime I click on mail, it goes through the Comcast "Smartcenter" to retrieve my mail and Safari encounters a problem and shuts down. Can anyone help? We have Safari loaded on 2 other computers in the home and they're both able to access Comcast e-mail. Thanks.

I know that feeling ... it's the subtle things that stuff me up the most. (Like not being able to tell people exactly where the Problem History lives. Need to go down to a PC store and make a few notes, I think.)
Okay, we're going to try uninstalling both Safari and Apple Application Support, and then reinstalling Safari 9which should also reinstall Apple Application Support. We'll take a few additional explicit precautions along the way just in case.
*Preliminary phase*
Download and save a copy of the Safari installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
http://www.apple.com/safari/download/
Quit iTunes, the MobileMe control panel and/or QuickTime if you have them open. (They all use Apple Application Support, and if they're open, they'll interfere with the Apple Application Support uninstall.) Best to print out a copy of these instructions, because at one stage of proceedings you won't be able to use a web browser.
*Uninstall phase*
Open your "Uninstall a program" control panel.
Uninstall Safari.
Uninstall Apple Application Support.
Next we'll remove any leftover program files and folders.
Open "My Computer".
Open your "C" drive (or whichever drive you store your program files on).
Open the "Program files (x86)" folder.
Right-click on the "Safari" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
*Staying in "Program Files (x86),* open the "Common Files" folder.
Open the "Apple" folder.
Right-click on the "Apple Application Support" folder (if it still exists) and select "Delete".
Empty your Recycle Bin.
*Reinstall phase*
Restart the PC. (If iTunes is installed on the PC, you'll probably receive a message at this stage saying that iTunes will not run because Apple Application Support is missing. Click through the message.)
Do not open any applications.
Disconnect from your network and/or the Internet.
Disable all security software (firewall, antivirus and antispyware).
Now start the Safari install by doubleclicking the SafariSetup.exe file you downloaded earlier. (This install will also reinstall Apple Application Support.)
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
With the fresh AAS and Safari in place, can you get your email without the error now?

  • Comcast E-mail's Not Being Received

    Hi
Is anyone having problems with their Comcast contacts' e-mail's being catagorized by Verizon as Spam?
I have a contact that uses Comcast e-mail where this began happening a few days ago.  I can add his e-mail in my Settings section as "Safe" and that works but I was wondering if this is a system-wide issue between Concast and Verizon e-mail.
My contact is receiving all of my E-mail's but his incoming e-mail's are all getting sent to the Verizon Spam folder unless I add his address to the "Safe" filter list.
I sent an e-mail to   [email protected]    with my contact's e-mail address a couple of days ago.  That doesn't seem to have had an effect on the issue.

Looks like your doing everything that I would advise. [email protected] is more so when your sending and the outgoing spam filter is catching it from what I understand from when I had this problem a while ago.
I would suggest the safe senders list if that helps you get your email in the inbox for the customer's

I cannot log on to my Comcast e-mail from my IMac anymore.  This is a new issue, recently I had to delete cookies from my system in order so my email wasn’t frozen, but over the past few days it has went from bad to worse.  I am able to enter my login information, but it just goes right back to the home page.  Any suggestions…maybe I deleted something else in the process.

OK, restart in Safe Mode, this will clear some caches. It's possible one or more is corrupt. To restart in Safe Mode when you hear the start up tone hold down the Shift Key until you see a progress bar. Let it fully boot then restart normally and test.
Also I am assuming you have checked Finder - Preferences  - General and see what boxes are checked in "Show these items on desktop." You can also mount an item in Disk Utility, simply highlight it and then look in the File menu for Mount.....

  • Trouble getting Comcast e-mail on Droid 2

Considering returning my newly purchased Droid 2 (and switching to AT&T to get latest Blackberry) because it does not consistently get my Comcast acct emails.  I worked with Verizon tech today and downloaded K-9 Mail app which worked beautifully for about 15 minutes.  The e-mail app that came on the Droid worked okay for a few days and then it didn't.  I've seen posts in non-Verizon groups recounting problems that others are having with Droid and Comcast e-mail, but none of them seem to have found solutions that last.  Anybody have success with Comcast e-mail and Droid 2?

I've been having trouble with Comcast mail on my wife's Droid 1 as well. Pehaps we need to follow up with comcast on this issue as well.
In her case the problem is that she marks stuff as read and then a few minutes later she get's a notification telling her that there is new email. The ones that she just marked as read.
She also had a set of emails (8 or so) that no matter what, the phone kept insisting were unread. We marked them as read on the phone. Sync'd and they'd be ok for a bit, but then later would come back as unread. Marked them unread in the browser. Phone would still notify us that they were unread.
I know I'm not really helping, but you aren't the only one

  • All of a sudden I am unable to receive e-mail through comcast on my PC. I am able to send e-mail. I can receive comcast e-mail on my phone and tablet

All of a sudden I am unable to receive e-mail through comcast on my PC. I am able to send e-mail. I can receive comcast e-mail on my phone and tablet. One help topic suggested I delete the password for my comcast mail and that I would be prompted to set up a new password. No such prompt appeared. I am wondering about help for this problem. I'm also wondering if I can delete the account nd add it again and what would be the ramifications of doing so.

check the settings in your  mail settings, outgoing server.  If your ipad is ok, compare the settings with the ones on the phone

  • My Comcast e-mail now only works with Windows Internet Explorer-is this a Microsoft/Comcast collaboration to get people to switch to Explorer?

Firefox opens the Comcast e-mail window and inbox is visible,. but you can't open the e-mails. Their Customer service told me I have to use Explorer, which does indeed work. Also, Explorer scales the page automatically to full size.
I really don't want to switch to Explorer unless I absolutely have to, so when is this issue going to be resolved?

use an extension like IE Tab or IE View to use the IE rendering engine in Firefox.

  • Receiving Comcast E-Mails in Mail, but cannot send them.

I can receive my Comcast emails in Mail however I cannot send them.
My outgoing mail server is currently smtp.comcast.net but I do not know if that is correct. My incoming is mail.comcast.net and that works fine.

this is a common problem, and it is sporadic, it appears to me that comcast servers or the lines between the mail handling servers are going down...
you will find today for instance, that mail from mobileMe works fine, but any comcast outgoing mail will not send...
it appears to be the ISP is blocking or having problems, ofcourse they will say that everything is fine, and to use their web based mail, which ofcourse will work, because it doesn't use the same servers or lines....
they will also say that they do not support OSX, which ofcourse is moronic, to disregard 20% of their home users... but that is what their official party line is...
so you need to call in, and often... so they can get a record of these calls and go and try and find the problem...
these sporadic problems are the worst, because they can never find those problems..

  • Apple Mail & Comcast E-mail Issue

About 2 weeks ago I set up my Apple mail to receive my Comcast e-mails.  When i logged into my comcast e-mail account today, all my e-mails (3,000+) were gone with with the exception of those which were in folders.  These e-mail are all appearing in Apple Mail, but no longer in my comcast account.
    Thoughts?

  • I hace a comcast e-mail account and when I click a "contact us" link on a web site a pop-up asks me to choose an application but when I choose firefox nothing happens How can I make the links open my Comast e-mail?

"Contact us" links on web sites open a box that says "This link needs to be opened with an application. Send to:" My only e-mail account is through my Comcast.net account but Comcast is not an option. When I choose Firefox, which is an option, a new blank window opens but I have no idea how to generate an outgoing e-mail message. This is very frustrating because I cannot seem to find any help with this issue and i seem to be precluded from e-mailing numerous organizations because of this. I do not want to create a new gmail or other type of e-mail account if I can help it. I already have enough accounts and passwords to try and keep a handle on.

Comcast online email is considered '''web mail''' so you need to scroll down that support page to the web mail section.

  • Checking Comcast e-mail results in locked mailbox...

    Hello.
I got my iPhone activated in 4 minutes without a hitch, thankfully. I also configured my e-mail accounts fairly easily without difficulty and I have no problems checking and sending e-mail with iPhone. I am using 6 e-mail accounts, including .Mac, Yahoo!, Gmail, Earthlink, Comcast, and a private domain e-mail account on a hosted unix web server. After checking e-mail on my Comcast.net account using iPhone (and, if there is something in the inbox), the Comcast mailbox becomes locked and I am unable to check it using my computer (Entourage client); I can still check it with iPhone though. The lock gets released in about 20 minutes or so, and I can then check it using Entourage, but it becomes locked again after iPhone rechecks it. I experienced the same problem on my private e-mail account on my hosted domain (unix server), which was using POP3. The problem went away when I changed the iPhone protocol for this account from POP to IMAP (but left as POP on Entourage). I can't seem to get my Comcast settings on iPhone to work with IMAP - only POP seems to work, so I’m stuck with the intermittent mailbox locking problem.
I don't see this locking behavior on any of the other accounts, including Earthlink’s POP server. There is something peculiar about the way the Comcast POP3 server is handling the iPhone request. Anyone have any insights?
    Thanks,
    Stu

Thank you for the replies. I understand this behavior of the POP3 protocol, and how it is possible for some mailboxes to become locked by one client, preventing another from accessing the mailbox until it becomes unlocked. However, the effect on the Comcast account lasts for about 15 minutes. It doesn't happen on some of my other POP accounts, such as Earthlink.
Furthermore, it only occurs when iPhone checks for mail on my Comcast account first (then, it becomes locked and I can't check it from my desktop computer). When my desktop computer checks the Comcast account first, it is not locked afterward, and iPhone (or any other device) has no problem checking for mail immediately afterward.
The likely conclusion is that the iPhone behaves differently from the desktop client (in this case Mail and/or Entourage), causing the POP mailbox to lock (with Comcast, at least). One is tempted to deduce that iPhone is not signaling a release of the mailbox that Comcast expects. Perhaps Earthlink has a much shorter "keep alive" than Comcast, so this behavior doesn't occur.
    Thanks,
    Stu

  • I am unable to log on to my Comcast e-mail account. When I do, it keeps reverting back to the sign-in page. Like it's in a loop of some sort.

Comcast has been making changes to their e-mail for several months. It has affected the way the e-mail works, but the issues are different for different browsers. I have had issues since August. At any rate, this morning I was unable to even log on to the e-mail system via Firefox, but I could get to it via IE.
If you're interested, here's what I posted on their 'internet forum' this morning:
    http://forums.comcast.com/t5/E-Mail-and-Xfinity-Connect-Help/E-mail-and-Firefox/td-p/1963071

Note that such issues are usually caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked (check the permissions on the about:permissions page).

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • An "issue" between Comcast and  Mail???

    Hello
My account at Comcast perfectly worked with Mail for more than a year. Tonight I noticed that mail stopped coming since early morning. I sent myself a test message and didn't receive it. So I checked my inbox at Comcast through their web portal, and found 50+messages that Mail have not retrieved. The first one was of 11/17, the last one my test few minutes ago. Interestingly, some of the messages that Mail did retrieve were dated in between.
Then I went to "live chat" with Comcast tech support. The first analyst that I got to suggested couple of things. They didn't work, so I went to the chat again. Here is what I got from the second one:
D> Thank you for contacting Comcast. My name is David, how may I assist you today?
m> Hi David. I am having problems with email. I can see incoming messages via web portal, but I can't retrieve them with Mac Mail. I already did a lot of things on the advice of another analyst, it still does not work.
D> I apologize however you will need to contact Apple for assistance with this as we do not provide technical asssistance with Mac Mail.
m> Mac Mail is not the issue. I have another account - not at comcast - which works fine. This account also worked fine for two years, and the problem started only few days ago. I am sure Apple has nothing to do with it.
D> This is an issue with Mac Mail working with the Comcast service.
m> What changed in Comcast service on November 17 that it stopped working?
D> Again I apologize however we are unable to provide assistance with Mac Mail.
Can anybody tell me who should I contact at Apple and how? I can't find anything useful at the Apple support site.
Or maybe somebody knows what the "issue" might be? I can send mail but can't receive. I can both send and receive mail from a different, non-comcast account. All settings in Mail are correct and have not been changed for a long time (and it worked). Interestingly, Entourage can retrieve messages from that same account.
    Thanks!
    MP

No email client is capable of blocking spam or any email at the incoming mail server for an account. This can be done by your ISP or email account provider only.
The Mail.app junk mail filter has always worked great for me with no changes made or additions to the default settings.
Something I did several years ago which was prompted by a company transfer/move to another city which required changing my email address even though my ISP didn't change and the amount of spam received was nearly eliminated.
Have a private and public email account/address. Use the private address to exchange email with family and friends only and never provide this email address for any other purpose such as when making an online purchase, website access, etc.
Use a free Hotmail or Yahoo account with webmail access for your "public" email address.
Once the cat if out of the bag, it is too late so changing your private email address will be required especially if your ISP or email account provider does not include a spam filter at the server and/or a method to forward spam received so your ISP or email account provider can block the sender's IP address from sending mail to any address at their domain.
Check Why was I "spammed" at my .Mac Mail address? for information about the reasons you receive spam at any email address and two basic ways to deal with unwanted messages.

  • Repeated e-mail failure with Comcast/Suscom mail

I'm tring to get my POP e-mail to work, which was previously operated by Suscom (local cable co. here in Maine) who was recently sold to Comcast.
I've read a lot of the posts about Comcast issues, and I've tried different port settings for outgoing (25, 587, 465) with the smtp.comcast.com server as well as with smtp.suscom-maine.net all with SSL turned on and off.
Still no joy sending e-mail. I've also tried the smpt.cwmx.com server.
Is there anyone out there in the same boat? Comcast technical support is next to useless.
Mac Mini Intel Core Duo, 17" Intel MBP, iPhone, ATV, iPods galore   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Yup - this server only works while you are on the EDGE network. When you use Wifi, it will likely not work. The same way Comcast doesnt like you using their servers when you are not on their network, AT&T doesnt like you using cwmx.com unless you are on theirs.
The best solution is to get an email provider that will support authentication and does not have a home network requirement. GMail provides this alternative, and its free. You can configure your mail client so that messages seen to come from your Comcast email ID, and you dont even have to use the GMail incoming server if you dont want to.

  • I am having trouble with our Comcast e-mails. Going thtough the internet oprion they are fine, but not through your website.

When using your website to access Comcast and our e-mails the e-mails are disorganized and words above them are out of line. If I access Comcast through internet explorer the inbox and e-mails are normal. I have re-booted the computer countless times and reset the modem to no avail. It appears that the issue is with Firefox.
