Complaints on new FIOS and especially tech support

I had FIOS installed a week ago and have already experienced an outage of my internet and phone for nearly 36 hours.  Actually I'm stil not sure if it was an outage as I got several excuses from Verizon.  My main issue comes with calling tech support (TS).  It's nothing like dealing with verizon wireless which is a piece of cake.  Calling Verizon to order or possibly order FIOS is very easy.  They answer and WANT to talk with you.  Calling tech support is another story.  Twice I finally hung up after being on hold for over 30 minutes.  The people on TS are nice and professional so the complaint is on Verizon and it's system.  It would seem the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing when it comes to handling these issues.  Notwithstanding I am a new customer and already don't have much faith in my FIOS purchase based on this 36 hour outage.  I also cannot get in touch with TS and when you do be prepared to get various and conflicting answers.  I'm not sure what I hope to hope accomplish here by doing this but someone in corporate needs to see these complaints and do something about this.  Anyone ever see the commercial about the banks and all kinds of excuses being made about not being responsible for the issue.  Well this is somewhat Verizon.  (I got a phone call from Verizon as I type this and I let the machine take it-Verizon president left me an automatic message saying he's sure I'm already enjoying the FIOS services.)  Oh brother.  

No need to call.  The issue was resolved today regarding the phone and internet being down.  My main issue is the inability of getting in touch with tech support without waiting forever.  This needs bigwig attention and action.

    Back up all data.
    This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
    If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
    Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):

    Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
    When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
    from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
    In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
    That's one word, all lower case, with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
    Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
    Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
    Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

  • Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet and Verizon Tech support issues!!!! Save your money!!!

    Where to begin? I just want to thank Verizon for the $11 a month paperweight that they have me locked into a contract for. My wife and I had gotten a pair of these tablets for their Labor Day sale at the exact same time. I want to prefernce by saying that my wife's tablet works just fine with no issues. Me on the otherhand is a completely different story. After a month of use working just fine, starting in October, I had noticed that my tablet would work completely fine after powering up then after about 5 minutes the problems will start happening. The tablet cycles through full coverage, no coverage and coverage but with 2 bars. Which since then, I have done countless factory resets, changed out the sim card, sent it in twice and returned my tablet back to me and I am still having the same issues, and had 2 or 3 back office tech support tickets completed with no additional follow up from Verizon. The last time I sent the tablet in for them to look at it, I was very detailed as to everything that I had tried, including making sure the tablet software was the right version and everything. They still sent it back saying they found no issues. I couldnt tell you over the past 2 months since this issue has been coming up how many people in the technical support department I have talked with to troubleshoot. This company has horrible customer service!!!! Especially when I was told that the "Warehouse" where I was to send in my tablet to be looked at said they were to service the device for a turning on issue which wasn't the case at all. It really makes me wonder why they charge so much for their service. It isn't like they actually do anything when you have an issue. Just try to do more troubleshooting that doesn't work. They said they won't send me out a replacement tablet until I send the one I have in, I absolutely refuse to send it in because I have been told that twice and both times the "Wareshouse" sends me back the same tablet with a piece of paper saying they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I am so fed up with this company and their technical support department. I have previously heard how good Verizon customer service is, I will gladly hand them my tablet and tell them to deal with it and let me know if you want to stand by how good Verzion really is. After the headache that this has been over the last 2 months, I am ready to tell people don't bother going to Verizon, save your money and go elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They won't stand by what they sell nor do the right thing. This is not a company I want to do business with!!!!

    $11 per month?? On More everything, Tablets are $10 each.
    Did you put insurance on it? You could do an insurace claim. That way you would get a new or different one.  I have haven't had any issues with mine, so I am sad to hear it is not working our for you.

  • Elements 10 closes when making panorama and Adobe Tech Support???

    I recently installed PSE10.  I upgraded because my old computer crashed, so I went to Win7 with 64 bit and did an upgrade of several programs.  I noted that when I try to do a panorama in 10 I get an error message "Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 has Stopped Working."  That happens whether I have pictures in 10 waiitng to become a panorama or I am just creating a new one with nothing loaded in 10.  I can open other Photomerge types like "Groupshot" but not panorama.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  TIA
    This is my first "serious" problem with Adobe.  I looked around on the site for a way to submit a question to tech support....Is there a way to submit a question to Adobe Tech Support for free? or is it all purchased time (i.e., they do not offer free tech support.)  Again, appreciate the input.

    Searching the forums for "panorama" revealed a problem with Lightroom and Bridge that was solved by resetting the preferences:
    Hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys when launching PSE, and answer "Yes" to re-building the Preferences.
    Might be worth a try.

  • Logic 9, SSDs, new MBPs and OSX TRIM support

    Gang, my 2006 17" MBP is on its last leg, so the rumored MBP refresh is timely for me. The rumored hardware refresh has the MBPs sporting the new intel sandy bridge architecture along with a 16GB SSD boot for OSX. There's also a rumor of the option of upgrading the Superdrive to a secondary SSD.
    This would've been a 50/50 coin toss a year ago as I wasn't doing audio editing/songwriting. Now, researching this whole SSD write fatigue issue is driving me nuts.
    Some say that write fatigue is very real. Some say the effect is negligible in newer drives and it's getting better every few months with new hardware. Some say the write fatigue issue is moot since the poerformance is still (mostly) better than that of a HDD. Others point to it not being an issue with Win 7 and Linux due to TRIM, but it is still a bugaboo on OS X due to lack of TRIM support.
    So, I'm confused.
    This really wouldn't be an issue if I was running an 8 core Mac tower with 10/15k rpm drives. Since I'm updating my laptop to another laptop as my only production platform, I really want to have the best portable package I can have performance-wise (setting aside the issue of ditching the ODD for a moment).
    If the rumors are true, I could boot from the dedicated SSD, have my apps, VSTs and samples on the secondary SSD, and do all my writes/reads to the HDD. Is this a logical file layout?
    For those that use a SSD, what has your experience been with it in audio production? Are you SSD-only, or in a mixed SSD/HDD environment?
    This is all academic really, because the first thing I'm targeting in a new MBP is 8GB of ram. My current setup is only 3GB with Logic and a major VST like Omnisphere or Trilian. I can squeak by with freezing tracks, etc. If getting opting for the SSD means losing ram, then I'm definitely passing on the upgrade.

    Mixed SSD/HD here.
    I didn't really see much value in having Logic (and other apps) boot any faster since I don't mind a) boot times as they are, and b) I actually appreciate some of those times when I can't get straight to it. Sometimes slow is good, it allows the imagination free reign.
    I use the SSD for all samples, etc. EG - I use Omnisphere a lot and working off a hard drive is fairly mind numbing when clicking through sounds. It's now fast enough that it begins to feel like an old school synth in terms of patch changing. I'm happy.
    This way is also 'write once, read many' so I get the best of SSD tech meantime.
    Irritatingly expensive for storage, of course.

  • Cannot Access Profile Options in New Verizon Webpage - Poor Tech Support

    I just started with Verizon this past Thursday for phone and internet DSL. Everything went smoothly except for the fact that there is a new webpage that Verizon is using that presents the customer and/or user with Profile options.
    Every time that I try to access these options, a message appears that states that these options will be available when my installation is completed.
    I have already installed the latest Verizon software on my PC, spoke to countless HSI support people, and am told that I would have to wait 48 to 72 hours for this to hopefully be resolved.
    Each time, I am given a scripted response where each rep uses screen sharing to try and resolve the problem. They waste my time by spending over an hour checking options, and then tell me that it is a webpage problem not my PC.
    I have never seen a new webpage rolled out and Beta tested while the old one was closed. In other words, every competitor of webmail Hotmail to Outlook, and Google with their new webpages, always keeps the old webpage active until they have worked out all the problems of the new one. They even allow you to try the new one, and then roll back if you were not satisfied.
    Verizon, you did a very poor job with this roll out by not presenting these options to the user. In your rush to implementation, you run the risk of losing customers because of the time wasted by scripted customer service reps who don't have a clue as to what is going on. I left Time Warner Cable to come to you for specific reasons, and in regard to Internet, you pale in comparison to their customer support. It never took them days to resolve a problem.
    I guess Internet services is not important enough.

  • Billing Dept and HSI tech support - Refusing to help me

    So I just went thru the most nightmarish corporate "support" experience I've personally ever dealt with.  I am signed up for Enhanced High Speed Internet, which 7mbps available in my area at that tier.  HSI tech support is insisting the request to set up my service was at the lower tier 1-3mbps. 
    So I get on proactive chat with tech support, after about 45 minutes of back and forth they conference in anagent from the Billing department... and the two of them literally argue on my screen for 10 minutes.  Billing is bouncing it back to tech support saying my account level is correct and they need to fix the problem... HSI tech then sends the responsibility back to Billing saying they need to correct it.
    After a bit more back and forth with tech support, they end the chat  abruptly with zero resolution... telling me there is nothing more they can do and to call the 800 # blah blah blah.  Just a complete bureaucratic nightmare.
    Has anyone else dealt with a mess like this?  Am I speaking with the wrong departments?

    Your issue has been escalated to a Verizon agent. Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you. Please go to your profile page for the forum and look at the top of the middle column where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". You can reach your profile page by clicking on your name beside your post, or at the top left of this page underneath the title of the board.
    Under "My Support Cases" you will find a link to the private board where you and the agent may exchange information. This should be checked on a frequent basis, as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions. Please keep all correspondence regarding your issue in the private support portal.

  • When I start my computer, I get popup error msg that "Apple Sync Notifier" has stopped working.  I have tried several remedies suggested by those on the Apple (and Roxio) tech support. Nothing has worked. Trying to burn disc or puchased ITUNES.

    I have been trying to burn newly purchased (as well as last year purchases) ITunes to a disc.   I had burned some of these songs to a disc last year and all went well.   Now I have been getting this popup telling me that the AppleSync Notifier has stoped working & the corefoundation.dll needs to be re-installed.  Also that Windows will try to fix the problem.   Every time I try to burn the disc, the computer sends the disc back out and the screen tells me to put in a blank recordable disc.   I have tried 4 different new discs now and the same thing happens.
    I am running Windows Vista.
    Have been to the Roxio web site for help as well as Apple.
    Have tried many "fixes" such as:  updating latest version of Direct X from the Microsoft website;   Disabling startup items;   going to local disc C and into the Apple/Apple Appplication support and right-clicking on the SQLite3.dll and moving it tomobile support device window.   Nothing has worked.  What can I do to get some music recorder?   Should I buy a new cassette deck and record onto tape like I did 20 years ago?   This is a very important disc I am making as a gift & I need to get it done by this weekend.    Is there anyone that can offer good advice?

  • Can't install new itunes and mobile device support keeps crashing

    a while ago, i tried getting new quicktime, but my computer crashed in the middle of the updating (also a problem- anyone know why it keeps lagging, freezing, and crashing on me?). i ignored it, and plugged in my ipod a few days later. itunes wouldn't pop up, and when i clicked the icon, i got a popup saying "itunes not found, please reinstall" or something along those lines.
    i tried reinstalling it, but it gets stuck at "copying new files". i also tried getting the new quicktime, but it get stuck about 2/3s through it. also, after leaving my computer on for a night to see if it would install, i started getting a popup from microsoft windows saying that "MobileDeviceService has stopped working". if i try to check online for a solution, the popup dissapears after a while, but pops up again in a few seconds. same with if i just close the popup. this popup has also started to appear the second i log on to my computer.
    i also tried uninstalling mobile device support (using this), but when it's preparing for installation, my computer freezes and stops working.
    tldr: updated to quicktime, but crashed in the middle. now i can't get new itunes or quicktime, and i get popups about apple mobile device support that won't go away. any suggestions?
    and my computer started to lag and freeze a lot about a month ago.. i'm not sure why. but it's been very annoying since i have to keep hitting the power button cause the freezing doesn't allow me to do anything. i ran 3 virus scans, and only 1 managed to finish without crashing, and it's telling me that nothing's wrong. i've also uninstalled and deleted a lot of things, but that hasn't helped either.

    *i've managed to download quicktime, but am still unable to download itunes. after reaching a certain point in downloading itunes, (about 1/3 of the way?) it stops at "copying files", and my computer freezes and i have to hold the power button in order to shut it off and do anything, or i get a popup asking me if i want to change something so itunes can finish downloading. i click "yes", but then the download stops completely and i get a message saying "itunes has finished downloading, but with errors" and it tells me to download it again.

    but the fault module name changes on me. sometimes it's kernel32.dll, and sometimes it's something else, and i've already tried using task manager /find str but it doesn't help.

    Read the slightly newer topic by Pat Gilmour "Lumix DMC-LX1 RAW......" and you can see it is feasible, if not convenient. Note that for the LX2 you have to follow the instructions for the LX1 but write LX2 instead. It works a beauty for me

  • New iMac and G-Tech Drive - Ext. Disk starts up every 10 minutes or so...

    I just purchased an iMac 24 w/ 500 gb Hard Drive, after learning about Time Machine, I purchased a G-Tech Q 500 gb External Drive exclusively for Backup. After installing the G-Tech Q, the drive and after the initial full Hard Disk backup occurred, my External Drive disk appears to start up about every ten minutes or so. I don't know that this is a problem or not, but wanted to know if this is normal. Also, I should say that my actual document generation is very minimal as I use the iMac mostly for web surfing, iTunes, Photos and email. Given my use of the iMac should I turn Time Machine off most of the time and only use it two or three times per week to ensure that photos and music are indeed backed up?

    I did notice in a FAQ on the G-Technology web site support area that you could have the External Drive run all of the time, by going to the iMac System Preferences > Power Save > and uncheck the "Put external hard drive to sleep when possible". This would eliminate my hearing the external drive start up every ten minutes like it is currently doing, but would waist power over night when I am not using the iMac. For now, I will just let the drive start up whenever it feels like it.

  • My touch pad is not working and HP tech support has already tried uploading a driver update. Help

    HP Pavilion g6 notebook pc, windows 7 64-bit. I have two issues with my brand new computer. I have recieve a low disk space error when I try to back up my computer and my touch pad moves to the edges when I tap the touch pad and often I have to tap the touch pad more than once to get it to respond.

    I have also recently also updated my Bios from version 1.90 to version 2.1. After that my touchpad is also not working. I have tried to install the latest driver from toshiba, and from Synaptics, but nothing works. My device is recognized in the control panel, but does not respond to any commands. I have also searched for possible solutions, but have found nothing. I have a Toshiba Satellite L300-21H. I also use my Touchpad often, and I would also like to downgrade my Bios, because I think that it will take a while before a new Bios comes out.

    1) First I need a credit for $10.81 for months October, November, and December of 2014... and January of 2015.
    2) Second I need my subscription extended at the SAME price for ONE year WHEN I START A NEW SUBSCRIPTION upon new releases of the photography CC bundle. The current one does NOT install correctly on a purpose built computer to handle Video and 3D processing. I will not tolerate you deleting legacy products that go back to CS3 and newer that I depend on to pay my bills. The forums are full of folks with the same install problems for CC 2014. That is one year free for the extreme hassle and loss of time productivity, travel expenses, and monies due to being forced to use my standalone
    PS CS6 products for core work and another copy of the CC PS for 3D work at another location with a different persons subscription for my clients jobs.
    3) You need to get PS CC installed on my new production box on its “D” drive before I will agree to anything except the above. Lightroom CC 2014 installed just fine. There is no excuse for a product like PS to fail on extraction prior to install!

    Kee Jee You want me to stay with a service that provides no product? And has not provided me with a usable product since October of 2014? And now the word is out that you are raising subscription prices after the first year? Who do you think you are? You HURT peoples ability to earn a living! You cost us hours and days and months trying trying to fix your problems so we can move forward with your products? Who in the hell do you think you are? Tell you what, dont cancel a thing. A media blitz and maybe a subpoena to San Jose is the right move to protect peoples rights. Your company needs to learn a lesson in how to treat legacy customers. It seems no one has taught you that "if you take care of the customer, they will take care of adobe." Britt, care to guess how many dollars I have given adobe in almost 30 years?

The current one does NOT install correctly on a purpose built computer to handle Video and 3D processing with PS. I will not tolerate adobe and your text support wanting to delete legacy products that go back to CS3 and newer that I depend on to pay my bills.
    You and your tech support was worthless in suggesting they wanted to CLEAN my ENTIRE box of ALL ADOBE products. The LEGACY Apps WORK, they are PAID FOR, and thousands of dollars of After Effects, Premiere, and medical scientific plugins for Photoshop would be invalid and not useful without the legacy installed products. I sure as hell am NOT upgrading to CC for my production bundles after the way you have treated me and many of my clients now. Instead we are pursuing alternative solutions that are not adobe.
    The forums are full of folks with the same install problems for CC 2014. That is one year free for the extreme hassle and loss of time productivity, travel expenses, and monies due to being forced to use my standalone PS CS6 products for core work and another copy of the CC PS for 3D work at another location with a different persons subscription for my clients jobs.
    3)  There is no excuse for a product like PS to fail on extraction prior to install!
    4)  Your software has a poor history in the security department and I am now dealing with the second zero-day affecting my Flash, exploiting Internet Explorer and Firefox on
    my Windows 7. You all deny that you have a problem. I am waiting for you to notify me soon on what needs updating and I need to know when you plan to push out a fix. Only then will
    I allow flash back on my systems.
