CUCM 7.1.2 and Exchange Server 2010

Hi,
I have a cucm 7.1.2 installed and configured and an exchange server 2010 box as mail server on another system.
If I want to send voice mail from Cisco IP phone through the cucm to the exchange server, do I need an external voice mail like Cisco Unity, or the cucm should have everything I need.
Thank you!

Hi -
If you want to use Exchange 2010 as your voicemail system, you need an Exchange server hosting the Unified Messaging server role.  Microsoft has specific requirements for using Exchange unified messaging as well as licensing for your voicemail subscribers.  Here is a good review - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125141.aspx.  Plus there should be an integration document for voicemail functionality, I found the CUCM version 7 integration doc here - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=d5db0297-7850-4f52-b965-b8006b4c05f5&displaylang=en

  • Coldfusion 10 and Exchange Server 2010

I am using Coldfusion 10 and I have been trying to connect to Exchange server 2010.
I keep getting this error message: Unable to connect to the Exchange server using HTTP/HTTPS protocol. HTTP response code : 302
I have asked the Coldfusion hosting service to check the cacert for the required certificates and they said that all of the certificates for the hosted exchange server were installed.
If I use the serverVersion="2010" tag I get this error:
Could not connect to the exchange server with the credentials.
Exchange Server doesn't support the requested version.
The company that is hosting my exchange server account just recently upgraded their servers to Exchange Server 2010. When they were running Exchange Server 2007 and i was using Coldfusion 8 my script worked fine.
Any ideas why I am unable to connect to the exchange server  now.
Below is the script that I am running.

You might try adding the formBasedAuth option in your cfexchangeconnection.   I has similar trouble and my solution was to add the application file with "exchangeServerVersion=2010" and to track down the location of owa on my Exchange servers.

  • Delayed received emails Using Outlook 2010 and Exchange Server 2010 SP3

    Hi,
Some of our users are encountering delayed emails. When our clients sent email to us, some of our clients received this an hour late, sometimes they will received this the next day.
Our users uses Outlook 2010 and our Exchange Server is 2010. We have already patch this to SP3 as it says that the delayed emails was already fixed in this SP3 but we still encounter the delayed emails.
    Thanks.
    Collins.

    Hi Collins,
In order to narrow down this issue, please use OWA to send and receive a test email, see whether the delay will still happen or not.
From your description, the issue happens when certain users receive emails from internal. I recommend you use message tracking log to determine which step delays.
Here is an article for your reference.

  • Outlook for Mac and Exchange Server 2010

I am a customer of Office 365 and I am using it on my Mac. Unfortunately Outlook for Mac (version 15.6 150113) is not able to connect to my Exchange account. Tried to reinstall it many times and also reinstalled from zero the Yosemite OS X, but no way. I
try to make the automatic connection and it doesn't work, so I manually insert the server address but unfortunately it doesn't happen anything and the bullet on the left signs a yellow color indicating that it is not connected. I use the same information that
I use in the native "Mail" application where it works perfectly. I tried also other applications like foxmail and airmail 2, and using the same server and id they all work perfectly. Also Lynch is working great. Can somebody help me to solve this
"outlook for Mac and Exchange" problem?
    Thank you in advance

Hi Sylvain, Thank you for the attention. Hereafter the result of the test and sorry if it is in italian since my account is italian. I forgot to say that my exchange account is my Company's exchange server while office 365 is my personal account.

  • Time Capsule and Exchange server 2010.

I want to Buy an time capsule 2tb and make this the hard of my network.
I' am running my own Windows 2011 small business server and I'am using Exchange to sync my e-mail to our iphones, iPad and MacBook. The router I want to replace is an linksys wrt54g. I'am forwarding ports 80 (http) and 443 (https) to internet so we can sync our mail when we are on the road. But when we are at home we also need to connect localy to the Exchange server. In the wrt54g I have an selection box:      Filter Internet NAT Redirection .
This means: This  feature uses Port Forwarding to prevent access to local servers from your local networked computers.
I have unchecked this box so  I can connect the Exchange server from both wan and lan.
Is this also posible with the time capsule (to connect to these ports via lan and wan)? This will be the only thing that is keeping me from buying one now.
Ps. I only use the Exchange server for personal use so i don't need an full firewall.
    Thanks,
    Alexander

You can certainly forward the ports.. any router can do that.
I am not too sure what your second part means.. as long as you access the server on its local lan address you will have no issues.. but if you try and access it via the the full url address it will fail. The TC AFAIK has no NAT loopback. A quick google says no such luck.
What is the function of the TC in the network because there might be alternative boxes that work better??

Can you please provide the steps to reslove the issue.
    Thanks & Regards,

I have got the resolution of the problem. In my environment, the Powershell.exe which was being launched from command prompt, was 32 bit exe, while it was needed 64 bit exe.
It was occuring because in system path there was 32 bit powershell.exe was present. So, after replacing the exe with 64 bit exe, the problem was solved.
Thanks for the help provided above..

  • "Message Queued for submission" performance counter high for Exchange Server 2010 Database

    Hi,
We are receiving SCOM Alert as "Mail Submission service is experiencing issue: Messages Queued for Submission-sustained for 15 mins-RED (>25)".
After checking the "Messages queued for Submission" counter on the repective server it was found that the value is 66 but when we check the queue viewer we dont observe any messages stuck in Submission queue.
Would like to know what aspects can be checked here, in order to troubleshoot the issue?
The counter shows 0 value in perfmon for all other mailbox databases.
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hi,
This is a known issue with Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010.  We do not recommend that you use this counter for health alerts.
I recommend you refer to the following article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2921142/en-us
It is caused by the MailSubmission service submits a message for delivery multiple times, the counter is incremented two times but decremented only one time. This situation can leave the counter with a positive value even though there
is no message in the queue. When you restart the service, the counter is reset.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard "Certificate Authority Service" / Exchange Server 2010 EMC not starting and no AD connectivity for authentication.

    Hello,
I am a new IT Manager at this company and need assistance big time. Their environment looks as follows:
Server 1. Domain Controller Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) running active directory.
Server 2. Email Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) running Exchange Server 2010 .
    * Note. No back ups to work with aside from whats mentioned below.
DC had a virus infection causing a lot of issues on the shared network drives 2 days ago locking up all the files with a crypto ransom virus. Running Avast suppressed the infection. Had to recover the file shares which luckily had a back up.
The issue is that the Exchange Server 2 post this lost connectivity with the AD Server 1. Exchange Server 2 when launching EMC could not launch the console stating the following:
"No Exchange servers are available in any Active Directory sites. You can’t connect to remote
Powershell on a computer that only has the Management Tools role installed."
Shortly after I found that it is possible the EMC launcher was corrupt and needed to be reinstalled following another blog post. I deleted the exchange management console.msc  per instructions only to discover I couldnt relaunch it because there was
no way how. So I copied another msc file that happened to be on the DC Server 1  back to Exchange Server 2 and got it to launch again.
Another post said that it might be an issue with the Domain Account for the Computer, so to delete it in the AD Server 1 only to find that rejoining it from Exchange Server 2 using Computer>Properties> Chage Settings > Change is greyed out because
it is using the Certificate Authority Service.
I tried manually re-adding the computer in AD and modeling permissions after another server in group settings but no go. After this I was unable to login to the Exchange Server 2 with domain accounts but only local admin, receiving the following Alert:
"The Trust Relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed."
I tried running the Power Shell tools on Exchange Server 2 to rejoing and to reset passwords for domain accounts as noted in some other blogs but no luck as the Server 2 could not make the connection with Server1 or other errors it kept spitting out.
I also during the investigation found the DNS settings were all altered on both the Server 1 and Server 2 which I luckily was able to change back to original because of inventorying it in the beginning when I started.
I need help figuring out if I need to rejoin the Exchange Server 2 manually by disabling the Certificate Authority Service (or removing the CA as listed here:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/fb23deab-0a12-410d-946c-517d5aea7fae/windows-server-2008-r2-with-certificate-authority-service-to-rejoin-domain?forum=winserversecurity
and getting exchange server to launch again. (Mind you I am relatively fresh to server managing) Please help E-Mail has been down for a whole day now!

  • Installing second Exchange server 2010 with all roles (CAS, HT and MB) in the same domain?!

    Dear all,
first of all thanks for reading this topic :-)
In our enviroment, we have a Exchange 2010 server (Version: 14.01.0438.000), whitch is installed with all server roles (CAS, HT and MB) on one server(OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise). This exchange server sends all external mails to a smarthost (Redddox).
We are using Outlook Anywhere, Active Sync and OWA.
Now, we need to migrate this Exchange server to another one, because we think, that the server´s OS is corrupt and also, there are wrong licenses installed. The "new" server will have the same OS Version and Exchange Version (2010).
Currently I´m a little afraid, to install a new one - because I think when I will install the CAS and HT role, something will happen in my productive enviroment (Autodiscover, SMTP Connectors, Cerficates a.s.o.).
To install the mailbox role, I think this will not affect anything.
Can you help me a little bit in what to take care of? Do I need to preconfigure something, before I will install the second exchange? What about the version / service pack of Exchange to install? Must it be the same as installed on the first one?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Jennie

    Hi Jennie,
Below are the steps if you are not planning to upgrade.
    1) Install new Exchange2010-SP3 Server all roles Please check
    this
    2) Install the certificate in the new server by requesting a duplicate from the 3rdparty CA. Or export from the existing Exchange 2010 and import to the new one. Please check
    this
    3) Set your autodoscover, OAB, ECP, OWA URLs same as the current Exchange. Below artciles will help you to do that.
For OAB, Autodiscover, EWS please check steps 5,6,7in this
For setting OWA and ECP URLs please check
    this.
    4) Move few mailboxes as a test and check. If no errors move the rest.
    5) Move your OAB generation server to the new server. Please check
    this
    6) Move you public folder contents to the new server you have. Please check
    this
    7) Configure your firerwall to receive emails on the new server and other services like EWS, OWA, ActiveSync.
    8)
Add the new server as the source server and in the current send connector and remove the old server from the send connector.
Shutdown the server for a couple of days and monitor. So you will know if you missed something.
Uninstall Exchange2010 from the add remove programs.
    Thanks, MAS

  • Send As, Send on Behalf and Full Access for Exchange server 2010/2013

    [This FAQ contains 2 parts]
Testing and watching the behavior of Send As, Send On Behalf and Full Access permission.
Common issue and Troubleshooting on the three permission.
    [Testing and Watching]
Based on following blog, I decide to test on my lab:
Full Mailbox Access Rights + Send On Behalf = Send As ?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/ehlro/archive/2012/04/06/full-mailbox-access-rights-send-on-behalf-send-as.aspx
Description on my lab and test:
    Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2010
    Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2013
    Senders: A01, A02, … , A07, A08
    Recipient: A09
A01 grand permission to other senders.
    Two methods:
    a. Use A0x’s credential configure A01’s profile, then send From both A01 and A0x via Outlook. Watching result in A09’s Inbox and Sent Items which has message copy left.
    b. Use A0x’s credential configure A0x’s profile, then send From both A01 and A0x via Outlook. Watching result in A09’s Inbox and Sent Items which has message copy left.
    Result as following forms:
    1. Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2013
Using A0x’s credential configure A01’s mailbox, then send From both A01 and A0x
    To A09.
    2. Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2010 / Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2013
Using A0x’s credential configure A0x’s mailbox, then send From both A01 and A0x
    To A09.
    [Common Issue]
    1. [Issue]
    Exchange 2010 + Outlook 2010. A01 grand A03 Send As permission. However A03 can’t send as A01 to A09 and get NDR:
You can’t send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you’re sending on behalf of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission. If the problem continues, please contact your helpdesk.
    Details as following pic:
    [Troubleshooting]
    1) Based on the NDR, it seems a permission issue. Check Send As permission, however the Send As permission configured correctly. Pic as below:
    2) ince the Send As permission configured correctly, it seems the permission hasn’t been replicated. Try to restart Microsoft Exchange Information Store service. It works.
Note: The Send As permission isn’t granted until after replication has occurred. Replication times depend on your Exchange and network configuration. To grant the permission immediately, stop and then restart the Microsoft Exchange Information
    Store service.
    2. [Issue]
    Exchange 2013 + Outlook 2013. A01 grand A03 Send As permission. However A03 can’t send as A01 to A09 and get NDR:
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
    Subject: xxx
    Sent: xx/xx/2014 8:20 AM
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: A09
This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator. Error is [0x80070005-00000000-00000000].
    Details as below:
    [Troubleshooting]
    1) Also check the Send As permission configuration first.
    2) Then try to use A03 send as A01 to A09 via OWA. If OWA works well, it seems and issue on the Outlook client side.
    3) This behavior may occur if the OAB in Outlook isn’t updated. Try to download OAB manually.
    4) If doesn’t work, please close Outlook and try to delete all the OAB folder on your computer. The path of OAB folder in Win7, Win8 as below:
    \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books
    5) Restart Outlook.
Note: Be aware that you cannot send e-mail messages on behalf of a mailbox if the mailbox is hidden from address list. When sending a message, Exchange requires that e-mail address is resolved in the
    From field.
    3. [Issue]
Exchange 2010. A01 grant A0x “Send As” or “Send on Behalf” permission. A0x send as/ send on behalf of A01. The message is only copied to the Sent Items folder in A0x’s mailbox (same as the result of my test). Also cannot configure Exchange 2010 so that the
message is copied to the Sent Items folder of both A01 and A0x.
    [Troubleshooting]
This issue occurs because Exchange server 2010 was designed to copy message to the Sent Items folder of the sender only. This issue can be solved by installing Exchange 2010 SP2 UR4. More details in the following KB:
Messages that are sent by using the "Send As" and "Send on behalf" permissions are copied only to the Sent Items folder of the sender in an Exchange Server 2010 environment

Nice guide Mavis, I recently explored the same topic. Few things you might want to add is the type of connectivity (Cached vs Online will produce different results) and to expand further on the methods of adding the other mailbox in Outlook (additional mailbox
vs additional account defaults to different methods). Check the screenshot:
And please post this somewhere more visible, like blog/wiki page.

We have disabled the antivirus also but issue remains same.
We have CAS 1 n 2 as of Clustering environment and we upgraded sp3 for both. but we did CU4 on CAS1 to see the results to resovle this issue but no luck

    Hi,
Did you get any NDR message now when you send a email to outside? And vice versa.
In addtion,I recommend you telnet to port 25 to test SMTP communication.
If any question, please feel free to post here.

  • Exchange Server 2010 Backup and Restore

    Hai,
I have Exchange server 2010 stand alone server combined with mailbox, hub and cas role. i dont have backup application program. I want to take my exchange database backup to my SAN storage automatically everyday...
Using windows server backup i can take full backup only and i can schedule it to happen daily.. Is it possible can i take incremental backup??????????for exchange 2010 database.
    Thanks Chandru CT. MCITP

You have two basic options to backup Exchange 2010, VSS snapshots and "native backup" (meaning a Lag copy).  As far as VSS backups go, there are three components; the VSS Writer, the VSS Provider, and the VSS Requestor.  The Writer is built into
Exchange.  In fact in Exchange 2010 there are two - the Exchange VSS Writer and the Exchange VSS Replica Writer.  The provider can be a software VSS provider such as the Microsoft Shadow Copy provider or a hardware provider (usually supplied by your
SAN vendor.  The requestor is what you would tend to think of as the backup application; it coordinates activities between the Writer and the Provider.
As far as the Exchange 2010 plugin for Windows backup goes, it a very minimal requestor.  It only supports the Exchange 2010 VSS Writer, not the Replica Writer.  This means you can only take backups of the Active copy of a database.  The requirement
to backup the entire "volume" in the windows sense, or partition to the rest of us is a function of the way VSS works and is no real surprise.  In fact, another limitation of VSS is that the logs and database need to be on seperate volumes: see
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee832794.aspx.
That it only takes full backups makes sense as well.  Shadow copies, like many software providers and many hardware providers out there are copy on write.  Initially, after the first one that is, they take up minimal space for some metadata.
As data is writen to the volume while the the snapshot is in place, the original blocks are evacuated to a "difference area" and the write is then written to the newly evacul\ated spot.  You can generally put the difference area on the same volume or
somewhere else.  The downside is to write a block while a copy on write snapshot is in place means a read and two writes for every write.  This gets ugly on RAID 5 which already has a write penalty of 4; that turns into 9 IOs for every write while
the copy on write snapshot is in place.  Since you can't do the snapshots on the replica because the replica writer isn't supported, that IO hit is on the active copy.  When using copy on write snapshots, you generally want as few around as possible
for as short a time as possible; usually just long enough to export or copy the snapshot to another set of spindles.  I really wouldn't want to use WSB plugin for Exchange 2010 in anything but the smallest deployments.
What about native backup?  Well then you take a 100% space hit for every lag copy.  In addition, restoring a LAG is a one shot deal.  As you strive with the LAG to match what you could achieve with even daily or weekly copy on write snapshots,
the number of database copies, and Exchange mailbox servers,  poliferates.  You may want to consider a "Happy medium" that combines a LAG for fault tolerance/protection against logical corruption with copy on write snapshots (replicated or copied
to seperate storage) for HA.  Perhaps DPM would be worth a look in your situation.
You did mention that you have a SAN.  Most SAN vendors offer hardware VSS Providers.  Many are copy on write, and you shift that set of problems to the, albeit likey a bit more performant SAN, Some vendors use other stratagies.  The vendor
I work for uses allocate on write, so it avoids the 3 IOs per write copy on write penalty while a snapshot is in place.  This means you can snapshot frequently and keep many of them around without penalty shortening your RPO and RTO.  They optionally
archive truncated logs allowing for "up to the minute" restore of older snapshots, not just the last one.  They also provide a proprietery version of RAID 6, called RAID DP that outperforms RAID 1.  Combine that with all the storage efficiency features
like dedupe of primary storage, thin provisioning, compression, etc., that can all be combined and it starts to get compelling as the size of your deployment increases.  Although I might be a bit biased when it comes to SAN vendors, if your SAN is someone
other than NetApp I still encourage you to talk with your SAN vendor and see what features/functionality they offer that can help you address your backup needs for Exchange 2010.  I think you'll find much to like; it really comes down to scale and a cost/benefit
    analysis.
If you decide that hardware VSS providers are not you thing and want to stay with a software vss provider, I encorage you to talk to the usual backup software vendors as well.  Many can integrate with DAS and/or SAN, and have their own software
VSS providers often including support for the Exchange 2010 replica writer.  This at a minimum allows you to snapshot passive copies.  Features like replication (to get the changed blocks to other storage or off site), tape support (to roll backups
off to tape potentially to store off site) and catalogs come to mind as very useful things to have.
I'd take a look around at what's available and see if any of the things offered meet your business needs at a price you can afford to pay.  The WSB Plug-in is a bare bones sort of thing, and it only gets better from there.

    Hi Jared,
I've got a question regarding your answer.
We have an existing Exchange 2010 DAG configuration with 3 mailbox servers in NL and 3 in the UK.
2 for normal databases at each site and 1 for Archive databases at each site.
The current Mailbox servers for the Archive databases are Hyper V 2008 R2 based VM's with a passthrough for storing the databases.
We now want add 1 new Mailbox server for storing archive databases at each site and add them to the DAG.
Can we use Windows 2012 Hyper-V hosts and create the new VM's with 4k sectorsize vhdx files for the new mailbox servers ?

  • Trouble Connecting iPad and iPhone to Exchange Server 2010

    Exchange Server 2010.
I have found some online instructions for connecting iPhones and iPods (or iPads) to Exchange Server 2010 using activesync.  I enter all the information as I understand it (the same info used to successful connect Droids), and I do not get an error
until I try to sync (retrieve mail) the first time.  Then it says, "The connection to the server failed."
In the instructions I follwed it has this statement, "Before we get started, please be sure your administartor has purchased you an Activesync license and assigned to
your email address."  What the heck does this mean and how can I accomplish it?  I know activesync is working.  So why do I need a "license"?
    Any help will be appreciated.
