Depreciation defaulted to one Cost Centre (OKB9)

Good day SAP Experts
One of our companies' depreciation depreciation was defaulted to post one cost centre (Admin).  This was set on OKB9, specifying company code, cost element (211110) and the cost centre.
This worked, but now we had to change that each individual cost centre must collect its depreciation expense.  We tried to take this entry out of OKB9, when executing the depreciation run an error is experienced saying that a CO assignment is needed for this account.  Cost centres are maintained on all assets.
We double checked the GL and cost element, as we are having several companies on the same chart of accounts but different controlling area.  Their characteristics in all companies are the same.
Can you please help as to what the problem may be?  We also tried to enter all possible Profit Centre and their equivalent cost centres in OKB9, but still get the same error.
Regards
Theo

Dear,
Theo
Unless depreciation account is cost element , posting on cost center will not take place. In your case it is correct.
Going next you assign cost center in asset master and system will post depreciation on that cost center
as your said requirement each cost center assigned in asset master will collect respective value.
Your defiition of depreciation posting to cost center must be set in T.code ACSET and the same must be activated as well.
OKB9 is your default cost element account assignment in terms of Cost center, profit center, Business Area.
Hope this helps you to clarify questioned. If you have any doubts feel free to share.

  • Is there any way to allocate a particular asset to more than one cost centr

    Hi all,
I would like to know the posting of an asset to more than one cost center,
is there any particular setting to configure this,
    or,
please suggest me how to go about,
    regards,
    naga suman

    Hi Naga,
Not sure exactly what you are talking about but if you are talking about depreciation charges to more than one cost center then it is not possible.  Asset is only assigned to one cost center on a particular date.  However that cost center can be changed as it is time dependent field.  So one month you could post the depreciation to cost center A and next month to cost center B.
One way to get postings to various cost centers would be to use distribution in CO to accomplish your goal.  You would then post the depreciation as per normal to one cost center in the depreciation run.  Then you would set up distribution rules for that cost center and relevant Depreciation Cost Elements to distribute it to other cost centers.  By doing this the asset would always show depreciation against 1 cost center but the distribution would allocate relevant cost between other cost centers.
    Hope this helps,
    Cheers,

  • AFAB - Ordinary Depreciation Distribution Cost Centre wise

    Dear All
I need to distribute ordinary depreciation values for each cost center wise in GL.
    I have setup,
    1.  Cost Centers in Asset Masters
    2.  Create GL account with cost element without assigned default cost center
    3. ACSET configuration for Cost Centers (KOSTL)
When I processed AFAB that given an error as
Account 5012117 requires an assignment to a CO object
when assigned default cost center to cost element then AFAB is running and depreciation value accumulated one cost center in GL.
Please advice to over come this problem.
    Thanks
    Madhawa

    HI
    1. In ACSET, did you choose "Depreciation posting" or "Acquisition posting" against KOSTL
You should choose both i.e. Create 2 entries for KOSTL in ACSET
    2. In ACSET, hope you have checked the check box in the last column

  • How to post depreciation to multiple cost centre?

    Hi
In the asset master there is only one cost centre for each asset. This cost centre determines the cost centre to post to for depreciation expense. Is there a way to post to multiple cost centre?
    Hope someone can advise.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    1) Substitution rules would help you.
    2) Through distribution or assessment allocate the depreciation expenses to multiple cost centers.
    Thanks,

  • Posting to a cost centre from a sales order

Hi all.  We are currently in the process of replacing a third party system which deals with publicity mailing and taking the process onto our SAP system.
At the moment a report is run on the third party system at month end which details the months costs (freight and handling) which is then uploaded into SAP by JV in order to make the postings to the correct cost centres.
However, the current method of raising orders via email will be replaced with raising sales orders on SAP.  The sales order will obviously allow postings to a profit centre via the material, but how do I then get the costs into a cost centre for reporting and budgetary control?
I originally thought of using OKB9, however the relationship is not a simple one profit centre to one cost centre, and the costs have to be split across multiple costs centres.
Any ideas would be extremely welcome.
If you need any further info just let me know.
    Many thanks

There are a couple of options depending on how the data comes in and how you want to disburse it. You could use a substitution rule and you could also do CO allocations as well. This is because you have one profit center and many cost centers. One to one is a an easy flow match.

  • Rel. strategy is not triggered while creation of PR with cost centr

    Hi Gurus,
While creation of PR release strategy is not getting triggered with cost centre BCWSV870. But release strategy of PR triggered for cost centre BCWSV852 (In PR changed only cost centre as BCWSV852 instead of BCWSV870). Both cost centres are similar and the both cost centres are exist in characteristics value in CL20N for the same release strategy.
My question is why for one cost centre triggers release strategy triggers and for other cost centre release strategy is not triggered. Can you please tell how come this and rewarded for answer this.
    With regards,
    C. Sundar Rajan

    Hi,
In regard to problematic PR with cost center BCWSV870, was your PR maintained with only one line item? or multiple line items?.  In additions, when defining cost center as part of the release strategy structure, did you enter all cost centers with leading zeros?  Tak a further look into OSS Note 365604 for your further investigation.
    Cheers,
    HT

  • Creating a Sub Cost Centre

    Hello
Does anybody know how to create a sub cost centre. As in a cost centre which is part of/under another main cost centre.
I would be really greatfull if anybody can help.
    Thank you
    Regards
    Bindi

You could use a statistical Internal Order for lower level analysis of a Cost Centre.
We use these for our Schools.
Each School has one Cost Centre eg: E10030
And then many Internal Orders which represent the departments eg:-
    ECAT10030   Catering
    EENG10030   English Dept
    EMAT10030   Maths Dept
Some Schools have over 100 Internal Orders.
Validations ensure an Internal Order is always used with a School Cost Centre.  No posting can take place against the Cost Centre alone.
Substituions enter the related Cost Centre for an Internal Order when creating a document.
The Cost Centre is held against the Internal Order in its Master Record.

  • Cost Centre assignmement in Material Price variance Posting

    Hi Friends,
I see that when the user does a material price chnage posting thru MR21, it correctly hits the GL account as per the account determantion Procedure UMB (Gain or loss from revaluation).
I am qquite clueless from where does it pick up the cost centre to be assigned. This account (Cost element) has not been defaulted to any cost centre.
Please suggest me where I am lacking.

  • OM - Multiple Cost Centres link with Org Unit/Position not to employee

    Hello gurus,
In OM there can only be one relationship at a time between an organizational unit and cost centre (A011). For those areas where there is a requirement for the position to have control over more than one cost centre, there are multiple options.
Option 1 - If only one of the cost centres is used for employee cost incurrence, this should be the main cost centre, and the others controlled through authorizations.
Option 2 - If more than one cost centre is used for employee cost incurrence, a subordinate organizational unit is created into which those positions are placed.  In this scenario, the  subordinate  organizational units would not have a chief, and the reporting structure would go up to the more senior organizational units.
Option 3 - Use Cost centre distribution infotype 1018 (A014)
My question: is there a standard way through which we can show multiple cost centres attached to a position/org unit such that cost incurred by employees goes to master cost centre attached to org unit or positon and other cost centres are just attached to position/orgunit (just to show the org unit/position is managing these other cost centres as well).
Any thoughts? Anybody has used Enterprise Organization in CO to achieve this?
    Regards,
    Ahmad

To capture more than 1 cost center, you have to specify them in IT-1018  but employee's cost will be split based on this.
For data maintanance alone cost distribution is not possible (based on my knowledge).
May be equivalent custom infotype similar to 1018  @ Postiion / Org Unit level may work.
    along with Master Cost center.

  • Cost Centre Distribution by Percentage in a Contract

    Hi,
In a PO, it is possible to split the costs of one item to multiple cost centres using distribution by percentage function in account assignment tab.
I need the same process in creation of contract, so an item can have costs split to multiple cost centres. I cannot find a way to do this, contract only seems to give one cost centre option.
Has anyone any thoughts on how to achieve this?
    Thanks.

In ME31K select the item , go to Item -- Account assignments enter the first account assignment object then choose the Change display option. Here you can enter multiple account assignments.

  • Reserve stock for a cost center & don't allow issue to another cost centre?

    Dear Experts,
How to reserve stock for a cost center & don't allow issue to another cost centre?
Stock is reserved by creating reservation by MB21 for one cost centre e.g.CC1.
We want to restrict this stock for the same cost center CC1 only.
But when tried to issue stock to another cost center CC2, system allowed to post goods issue document.
System should not allow for goods issue of this stock to another cost center other than CC1.
    How to make it.......please suggest.

    I have checked
SPRO MM -- Inventory Management and Physical Inventory -- Reservation -- Maintain Copy Rules for Reference Documents
This is for reference document data copying.
Do you mean to say SPRO MM -- Inventory Management and Physical Inventory -- Reservation -- Set Dynamic Availability Check
Here for mvmt type 201 - valuation update - qty update - no special stock - Goods mvmt w/o reference - A (Dynamic Avl. chk) is the setting.
But system is not issuing the any message while issuing reserved stock to another cost center.
    Please suggest...

  • Get Cost Centre from runtime - WS20000050 Step 372

I am using Workflow WS20000050 for approval of travel expenses
When i attach the standard rule to step 372 it works fine
I have created a Custom rule and want to attach to Step 372
I need Cost Centre data for processing and finding out the agent
How can i get the Cost Centre data (entered through PR05 TCode)
I see that the standard function module uses these macros
      swc_get_element ac_container 'ORG_OBJECT' org_object.
      swc_get_element ac_container 'OTYPE' org_type.
      swc_get_element ac_container 'OBJID' org_id.
I am not able to identify the parameter for Cost Centre. It should be a table because one claim can have more than one cost centres assigned to it. it is stored in table PTRV_SCOS

    Hi Sriram,
If you know that the table PTRV_SCOS stores the value of cost center, then you can write a custom  BO method to fetch the value of the cost center from this table.
Make a call to this BO method in your workflow and fetch the value in the workflow.

  • Assignment of Cost centre in OM

    Dear Experts ,
I am having a scenario ...can two cost centre be assigned to one person. Its like person X is assigned one cost centre.Person Y has left the company. Now we want to assign the same cost centre which was under Y to X..So, person X has two cost centre under him.
Is it possible? as I am facing problem while doing this..If yes..please tell the steps or method.
    Regards,
    Tanu.

    Dear Tanuja,
    1. Why do want to assign two cost center with one person?
    Info type 0027:
You can use IT 0027 & subtype 01 for distribution of employee salaries.
Ex: Total employee salary want to go particular WBS Element or Order type then maintain IT 0027 with 100%. So when ever payroll postings happening, that particular employee salary will get posted as per IT 0027.
    Info type 0001:
where we will maintain master cost center
Assignment of Personnel Costs to the Master Cost Center
    Purpose
This data entry scenario for cost accounting assumes that employees always work for their master cost center and that the receiver of an activity is not debited with the personnel costs. This is the standard scenario if you do notimplement SAP Payroll (PY).
If you do use SAP Payroll, you should not use this scenario in the following cases:
You want to debit the receiver object of an activity with the personnel costs
You want to perform activity allocation
The sender cost center is not the employee’s master cost center
This would cause an imbalance in cost accounting, since the sender cost center would be credited with the entered hours and the master cost center debited with the personnel costs.Prerequisites
Employees who enter their working times using a data entry profile specifying their cost center must always work for the same master cost center(s), as specified in the Organizational Assignment (0001) or Cost Distribution (0027) infotypes.Process flow
You enter an activity allocation or confirmation in the time sheet.
In Controlling, the activity allocation credits the sender cost center and debits the receiver cost center.
If an attendance, absence or wage type is entered at the same time, the system writes the working time information to the Attendances (2002), Absences (2001), or EE Remuneration Info infotype (2010) in HR.
The Payroll component determines the personnel costs for the times.
In Controlling, the employee’s master cost center is debited according to what was specified in theOrganizational Assignment (0001) or Cost Distribution (0027) infotypes.
So my suggestion is before assigning two cost centers with one employee just once discuss with your CO consultant he suggest you how to it..!
