Does NI PCIe-6612 card communicate through SPI

Dear all,
Does NI PCIe-6612 card communicate through SPI [serial pheripheral interface].

That card has some high speed DIO, so you may be able to program it to send data as if it was SPI.  But that would be a lot of work.  I would recommend going with something like the USB-8452, which is specifically made for SPI communications.

  • Does the PCI-CAN2 card support DeviceNet ??

We are building a CAN network to simulate the CAN bus environment in vehicles.what we have are a pci-can2 card ,a simulator based on 51singlechips,and a electromotor.we plan to build a CAN node with  the simulator and the electromtor to simulate the mirror adjustor in vehicle ,and try to allow the exchangement between the  realone and the simulator later .so ,a Devicenet based on CAN network may be a suitable choice to us.But I saw two different products on NI.com , PCI-CAN2 and PCI-DNET.so  I wonder  whether we can implement Devicenet protocol on the PCI-CAN2 card ? If possible , what should we do and what do we need? no matter software or hardware ,Could you please give me some suggestion?  Thank you !!

    Hi,
The easiest way to interact with a DeviceNet based network is using the NI-DNET
driver software. The NI-DNET software runs on all CAN cards that come
as part of an NI-DNET kit (PCI-DNET, PXI-8461/D and PCMCIA-DNET) as
well as certain Series 1 CAN cards.
There are two different types of CAN hardware, referred to as 'Series
1' and 'Series 2'. Only 'Series 1' CAN cards with a high-speed physical
layer can be used with NI-DNET.
'Series 2' CAN hardware was introduced about two years ago and DOES NOT
work with NI-DNET. The online product pages don't list Series 1 CAN
    hardware anymore.
From chapter 2, 'NI-DNET Hardware Overview' of the NI-DNET User Manual:
Hardware in (current) CAN kits is referenced as Series 2. Hardware in
DeviceNet kits is referenced as Series 1. Series 2 CAN cards cannot be
used with the NI-DNET software (NI-CAN only). The features of Series 2
CAN cards are specifically designed for CAN applications, and provide
no distinct advantages for DeviceNet. For more information on Series 2
hardware, refer to the hardware overview in the NI-CAN Hardware and Software Manual.
Hardware in CAN kits offers 1-port and 2-port variants. NI-DNET
operates on one port only. If you use NI-DNET on a 2-port Series 1 CAN
card, only the top port can be used.
Hardware in CAN kits offer special transceivers (physical layer) such
as Low-Speed/Fault-Tolerant (LS) and Single-Wire (SW). Hardware in CAN
kits also offer the option to power the transceiver from the card, not
the network. These transceivers cannot be used with DeviceNet. Only
High-Speed (HS) transceivers comply with the DeviceNet specification.

  • Does the UCS C-Series Servers supports PCI/e card digium T1/E1

    Hello,
    Does the UCS C-Series Servers supports/compatible with PCI/e card digium  TE407P/TE420 T1/E1.?
The server will be used as Asterisk server.
    Thanks
    Philip

    Hi Philip,
Compatibility will depend on the server model that you have and whether the digium card is a full length, low profile, or half length pcie card.  Take a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10493/prod_models_comparison.html#~tab-a for details.  If there are any issues with the card itself once it is installed it will have to go through the 3rd party manufacturer.

  • Does NI DAQmx driver support PCI 6527 Card

In my application i am using PCI 6527 Isolated DIO Card. In the examples from LabVIEW 7.0, i refered the following VIs
    1. Write Dig Chan.vi
    2. Write Dig Port.vi
    using DAQ 7 Driver.
There it gives a list of devices that can run these examples. The list does not contains PCI 6527.
Can I use DAQmx Example VIs with PCI 6527 Card?
Please suggest me what driver to use with 6527 Card (Traditional DAQ or DAQmx).

    Hello partners,
I'm using NI DAQmx 9.7 in a machine hosting a Windows 7, but always when I tried to run the application I got this error.:
CAN'T LOCATE THE DRIVER ERROR 10240
Does you have any idea why could I'm facing this problem ? Previously I was using the original driver NI DAQ 7.4.4 (Legacy) in a machine hosting a Windows XP.
Other point perhaps here isn't the best place to start this new post, but I couldn't find how to post a new topic on the site.. My apologies, i'm waiting for any solution or advice

In case someone else has the same problem, there's actually a package in the AUR that fixes the problem : https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ricoh-e823-fix/
Install it and enables it with systemd and it should work correctly!

  • Does performing a DAQmx Clear Task on a PCI-4474 card change the state of the IEPE current?

Does performing a DAQmx Clear Task on a PCI-4474
    card change the state
of the IEPE current?  If the IEPE current was on, does it remain
on even though the task as been cleared?  If the IEPE current
remains on, then I assume I don't have to wait for the IEPE current to
settle if I make a new Task and start a new measurement--is this
    correct?
Thank you in advance for your help.
    Ken

DAQmx Clear Task should not turn off IEPE current. You will have to explicity set IEPE current to On (for that channel) whenever you use any of the AI channels on your 4474 in order to keep the IEPE On because the IEPE for all channels in the AI subsystem will be set to the default state (Off) unless explicitly configured. That said, if you clear a task that had IEPE On, and then initialize a new task and set IEPE On, the IEPE will be uninterrupted and there should be no need to wait for the IEPE to settle. Other components of your measurement system might need time to settle if their state was changed between tasks (DUT, sensor, AC coupling, etc.)

  • Does NI-DAQ version 4.8x or 4.9x support the NI PCI-6503 card?

NI-DAQ 6.6 does not support Superlab, an application we use. Superlab says to use NI-DAQ 4.8 or 4.9. Does NI-DAQ 4.8 or 4.9 support the PCI-6503 card?

No, you will need NI-DAQ version 5.0.5 or greater to use with the PCI-6503 board. (Version 6.9.1 is suggested however.) I would contact the providers of Superlab to see if they have an upgrade.
If you are looking to do data acquisition programming, I would suggest looking into LabVIEW.

  • How do I set up a PCI-DNET card as master with A-B DNI as slave?

I'm trying to communicate with an Allen Bradley PLC through DeviceNet.  I have a NI PCI-DNet card in my computer, and an Allen-Bradley 1761-NET-DNI interface between my PLC and the DeviceNet network.  Does anyone know how to set up my National Instruments card as the Master of my PLC/DNI combination?  Thanks in advance for the help.
    Mark

    Hi Mark:
The PCI-DNET card should set itself up as the master by default.  As a matter of fact it should take more work to get it be the slave than to get it to be the master.  Is this not what you are experiencing?  Is there some sort of Allen-Bradley software that you have installed that is not allowing the NI board to be the master?
The DNET Manual states on page 4-8 that NI-DNET assumes that it is the only master in your DeviceNet system.

  • I have problems with pci-gpib card under windows me, What I need to know what to do in order to fix this problems?

Hi, I have installed a pci-gpib card in my computer, I have a problem with
installation, the message of troubleshooting wizard is as follow:
"One or more missing GPIB interfaces.
There are several reasons why you might encounter this problem:
Reason: Your GPIB interface is incorrectly installed.
Solution: Please verify that your GPIB interface is correctly installed
and rerun the NI-488.2 Troubleshooting Wizard.
    Reason: You are using a non-Plug-and-Play interface (e.g., AT-GPIB/TNT,
GPIB-PCII/IIA, GPIB-ENET) and you did not use the Add New Hardware Wizard
to add the interface to your system properly.
    Solution: Click th
e Add Hardware button and the Add GPIB Hardware wizard
will guide you through the process of adding GPIB hardware.
Reason: For the GPIB-USB and GPIB-1394, the host controller (USB or 1394)
must be working properly in order to use the GPIB interface.
Solution: Click on the System Details button for details about the USB and
    1394 host controllers.
Reason: For the PCMCIA-GPIB and PCMCIA-GPIB+, the PCMCIA host controller
must be working properly in order to use the GPIB interface.
Solution: Use the Windows Device Manager to verify that your PCMCIA host
controller is functioning correctly. Start the control panel by selecting
"Start>>Settings>>Control Panel", open the System icon and select the
Device Manager page. If you select "View devices by type", you can look at
the PCMCIA socket properties to ensure it is correctly enabled."
And on system details the message is the next:
"USB Driver type: USB universal host controller"
"This version of windows does not su
    pport IEEE 1394."
I am using Windows Me, so i want to know what i need to do to fix this
    problems.
    Best regards.

If you have a PCI-GPIB card, you needn't worry about the USB port or whether or not Windows ME supports 1394. All you need in NI-488.2 version 1.70 from National Instruments. Install this driver and then insert your card. Windows should detect the card and find the proper driver.
If this did not happen in the proper sequence, look in the device manager and see if the card was installed as an "other device". If this happens, remove the card in the device manager and have windows redetect it. If this is not a solution, you may consider the ask an engineer page at www.ni.com/ask. Provide as many details as possible.

  • MAX does not show scanner card

I'm using an Allen-Bradley 1784-PCDIS PCI scanner card, and it does not show up in MAX. I've un-installed the card, un-installed NI-DNET 1.41, then re-installed NI-DNET, installed the scanner card, and it still doesn't show up. The card does communicate if I use A-B's RSNetworx or IOLinx, but if I try any LabView VI's, I have no luck. Any ideas or suggestions?
I'm running Windows XP Professional with LabView 6.1.
Additional note - the same PC has a NetMos dual RS-232 card installed, which also doesn't show up in MAX, but it works perfectly with any VI that I test it with.

    Hi knorcross
The NI-DNET software supports only National Instruments DNET (and with restrictions CAN) hardware products. DeviceNet products from other vendors are not supported (and thus, they won't show up in MAX). For information or device driver software, please refer to the documentation you received with your Allen-Bradley 1784-PCIDS scanner card.

  • Line connection between PCI-6527 card and instrument

Sorry for my foolish. My poor electronic knowledge prevent me from fully understanding what you explained in your last reply and need more help.
In fact, we plan to control two instrument switchs, one is for the Magnetic_Suspension_Control(MSC) , another is for control the Weight-changing-Device(WCD).
The instrument manufacturer provide a cable for the MSC and WCD. The cable looks as follows: there is one connection to the computer(25-pin subD-plug) of which two cables lead away, one to the MSC(6-pin Lemosa)and the other to the WCD(15-pin subD-plug).
The interface of the MSC is internally realized by using only two simple optocouples(OC). Their input-pins are connected directly to the 25-pin SubD-plug of
    cable as follwing:
    25-pol.SubD; meaning
    Pin 9 anode of OC1-LED
    Pin 7 anode of OC2-LED
    Pin 23 cathode of OC-LED
    Pin 18 cathode of OC-LED
Because of the optocouplers draw some current from the NI-card, the manufacturer let me make sure that the NI-card can source circa 7mA(better 10mA) on each pin.
The interface of the WCD consists of three simple TTL-level inputs, which are also directly connected to the 25-pin SubD-plug of our cable as following:
    25-pol.SubD; meaning
    Pin 4 TTL-Input (remote) (0-1V/3.5-5V)
    Pin 3 TTL-Input (weight 1) (0-1V/3.5-5V)
    Pin 2 TTL-Input (weight 2)(0-1V/3.5-5V)
    Pin 5 common ground
The current drawn by the TTL-inputs is not worth mentioning.
By controling the logic state of these above pin states through labview, I then can control the instrument switch.
Based on above information, how should I choose right resistor for achieving the suitable v
oltage and current on each pin and How should I connect line between PCI-6527 card and 25-pin sub-D plug(I plan to use port 3 of PCI-6527 card).
Thanks, your help is greatly appreciately
    zhou

    Zhou,
My best recommendation is that you find someone who can give you a better and more direct advise in electronic circuiting. We don't have in our hands the manual of your instrument in order to clarify what it needs and where, although you gave some pin numbers we cannot take the risk of advising something that we don't have the absolute knowledge of. We can give you all the details you want about our card and what does it gives, but you have to decide how are you going to connect it to your instrument. If you recall your email about the manual, in fig. 3-6 page 3-12 you can see a picture of how to connect a TTL driven device, in the last email we gave you an option of how to connect the resistor and where, please read it again, basically I am going to repeat the same, we feel sorry about not been able to give you more help, but is opt to you to find help in electronic theory. Remember in my last email that I told you the 3 cases in which your instrument may need either voltage, current or both, and I told you how RL will change and what new resistors you may need to connect. Review that and make tests with your switch, your question about how to choose the right resistor is answered in the previous email and how to connect lines between the board and the cable of your instrument you have both pin outs... match them... the person who has in his hands the manual and the instrument is the best person to choose how to interfase both appliances... we are sorry Zhou but if we advise you about pin connections of your device with our blindness we have of your device we may make a mistake, we told you about our pins and how to choose resistors.
If you need more direct assistance on this Zhou you may better try to call us, by text messaging is limited and this requires direct guidance. If you decide to call us you can find instructions at www.ni.com/ask hope you move forward in your application as soon as possible.

  • Connecting a HP3497A with a NI PCI GPIB card.

Hello, I would like to be able to connect the above mentioned HP product with a NI PCI GPIB card. As I have no prior experience with this equipment, I wanted to know what basic important steps I would have to take to achieve this?

    Mbugua,
On the hardware end you'll need a GPIB cable to connect the card with your instrument. On the software side, you'll need the NI-488.2 driver. Please follow this link to download the proper driver version for your OS. I highly recommend that you use LabVIEW 7.0 to communicate with the instrument. If you prefer text-based programming LabWindows/CVI 7.0 would be a great choice. You can check out www.ni.com/idnet to download a library of functions to even further ease communication with t
he HP3497A (currently there is a download designed for CVI).
There are a great deal of manuals available online. Please navigate to www.ni.com and choose "support" to search through them as well as our Knowledge Base.
Please follow the following procedure of installation:
    1) Install LabVIEW or LabWindows/CVI (or both)
    2) Install NI-488.2 (hardware driver for the PCI-GPIB)
    3) Insert the PCI-GPIB into your computer

  • No USB power on wake up to PCIe USB card after 10.6.8 update. how to fix?

Ever since 10.6.8 update my PCIe USB card does not provide power to USB devices after Mac wakes from sleep. I have to restart to get it to work. How do I fix this before I down grade back to 10.6.7?

I did a clean install on a brand new hard drive and found that both Remote Desktop Client 3.5.1 and OX 10.6.8 caused the PCI express to not provide power to USB devices. I have firewire but nothing plugged in to test. I updated each one separatly (under separate install test) and both had the same effect. The only way to fix I have found is to not install either one. I have send Apple a feedback and rang Apple Care to let them know. I don't know when a fix will come through. I am in the process of doing a fresh install of all my software to 10.6.7 (without R.T.C. I might get Lion but I will only install as a V.M. under Paralells 7 which I can use as a test bench from now on.

  • PCI-GPIB card cannot find instruments in Windows 7

hello, i am new to use Labview to control lab equipments. would be very appreciated any help in advance. Here is my case.
We have two NI PCI-GPIB card in lab. They are working well in old PCs with Windows XP. I installed them to new PC with Windows 7 enterprize edition. Labview version is 2014. The NI-488.2 14.0 and Ni-VISA 14.0.1 is also installed.
when running NI MAX, i could see PCI-GPIB card, so far everthing is fine, no error code. But when i click scan for instruments. there is no result, also no error code message. I borrowed a GPIB-USB-HS controller from another lab. It woks well with the same GPIB cable and equipment. i could see the equipment and communicate. i tried both our PCI-GPIB card and got the same result.
Does someone happen to see the similar problem?
    Thank you.
    Yutong

Hi thanks for looking into my problem. here is some update.
first, i installed the PCI card to the new PC, it does not work as described above. then, i took it from the PC and installed the GPIB-USB-HS controller. It works well to find our equipment and everything is fine.
second, the oringinal old pc with this PCI card is down, so i used another old pc. this makes problems more complicated. i installed the PCI card on the old PC and it not work. then I connected the USB controller, it works fine. same problem as the new PC.
third, i tried both PCI card. they have the same problem. i think it is unlikely these two cards are both damaged.
I also followed instruction from  KnowledgeBase 1UO68A5P: "Scan for Instruments" Fails in Measurement & Automation Explorer. does not improved. the settings of PCI card is shown as attached.
    thank you.
